Which program?

I need some advice.
I'd like to start making some artwork for my FA page.  but I'm not sure which program to get. What do other people use/recomend?

Photoshop if you can
Cs2 just started going for free, but is rather old now


GIMP is an excelent replacement if you dont want to shell out loads of cash or want something more up-to-date than Cs2
