Sleep Schedule
« on: August 12, 2011, 06:28:12 PM »
So, I've mostly over come my inability to fall asleep.
In fact, I love getting to sleep.
But now my problem is that my Sleep Schedule is totally messed up v.v
I fall asleep anywhere between 2/4 AM, and wake up between 12/2 PM. I completely sleep through my alarm. I've tried to sleep earlier, I've tried to wake up earlier, but none of it works =S.
I've done exercise before bed, reading, drinking tea and other calming things, I've even pulled all-nighters just to try and pass out the next day earlier, but still no luck.
So, what should I do to try and get back on schedule? I'm running out of ideas =S

Exercising right before bed can actually keep you up longer, instead of putting you to sleep.

This site might help, it has a number of tips and information about getting to sleep: http://health.howstuffworks.com/mental-health/sleep/basics/how-to-fall-asleep.htm

Excersise around 7 to 8-ish. And do it hard. Wind down with something calmer and down some nyquil. Also, make sure your sleeping environment is comfortable, otherwise it can cause issues. A good temperature, windows open (or closed, if your like me) and clearing the room of clutter can help.
If none of that works try sleeping comando.

my personal method is to stay up for 24 hours straight and then go to bed at my intended bedtime and have my alarm set for the next morning

i recommend exercising during the day. most of the calorie burning work your body does when exercising is done for the next few hours once you've done, so you'll finish exercising and then go to bed for some sleep... your body is going "wait wait!!! i'm not finished!!" and won't let you. drinking tea is also a bad idea, cause it has caffeine. the all nighter method is also a bad idea, cause it'll get your body more used to not sleeping. it's kinda like putting an extra few stories on a building before demolishing it. you should also be careful with sleeping medication of sorts. they'll help you get to sleep, but when you wake up you'll feel horrible, and will still get out of bed at the same time. so only take sleeping medication if you're not getting enough sleep.

i used to have lots of sleep problems about 8 months ago, and i have a few solutions. none of which are an overnight (-scoff-) quick fix cause one of those simply does not exist;
1 . sleep commando. you know what... it really does help. i have no idea why
2 . cut out -any- sugary/caffeinated drinks. they make your body work for no reason. once you're back into the real world in terms of sleeping, you can be a bit looser.
3 . establish a routine. once you do something before sleeping every night, your body gets used to it.

plus... if you're a teenager you shouldn't be worrying yourself about this issue. you're supposed to be sleeping for ages. it's part of the biology (and sociology) of a teenager.
The further on I go, all the less i know.
I can't find...
only us, breathing;
only us, sleeping;
only us, dreaming;
only us

what has worked for me is not get any light for 1 hour. no tv, computer, anything. just lay in the bed for like an hour thinking about my day or something like that. Then, when you feel like sleeping, close your eyes.

Believe me, I know my teas, I'm well learned =p.

I drink Sleepy Time most of the time, or something without caffeine.
