Your Fictional Species?
« on: June 20, 2011, 12:50:49 AM »
So, I did notice that there are many crosses as well as fictional creatures being used as fursonas here. I am curious, do you have a story behind your species? Any characteristics you would like to point out? This topic will be for any and all information regarding your fictional cross/species. So, here is mine:

Well, the first variant is the regular Crossplague; a completely normal looking westernized Dragon breed with a distinguishing diamond-shaped notch in the belly scales, around the breast. The Crossplague is actually not the original strain of the breed, only being the first discovered (the Spectrum Crossplague was the original breed; descendant from the ancient reptilian color-changers of the Paleozoic era). However, they are best known for their breeds inconsistency with abilities. Some are Acid Spitters (just an extremely corrosive venom/poison; therefore, all Acid Spitters have a venomous bite), others can utilize fire, some (though rarely) can utilize Supersonic Roaring (an ability that cannot be seen, but only heard; can scramble an enemy's brain if used close enough and can splinter wood and level buildings), then the extremely rare Telekinetic and Psychokinetic ability (psychokinetic being much rarer than telekinetic; the respective ratios are these: Telekinetic = 1;4883, Psychokinetic = 1;4331685) and still others have no abilities whatsoever. The basic Crossplague is the smallest of the four breeds; at a medium average size of 56.71 feet long and 25.42 feet tall.

Then there's the Rainbow Crossplagues; this breed is incapable of color change due to mutation; but is able to utilize bio- luminescence on their body patterns, and there have only ever been seven of them at one given time. One for each color of the rainbow; and personality can vary based on the coloration just as much as it would from lineage. (So a Red RC might be boistrous and short tempered, while a blue one might be more sedated; though no judgment is definitive in such regard.) Their belly scales never have to pertain to any color of the rainbow, but are usually in proper contrast to their base coloration. The Rainbow Crossplagues are around the same size as Spectrum Crossplagues; a massive (as in long and tall) heavy-weight breed that averages about 88.92 feet long and 27.33 feet tall. Sytex's cousin Roxy is a Rainbow Crossplague with flame (a common in her family), though the same level of heat as Sytex's (burns blue at 9200 degrees Fahrenheit which is not common in her family).

Then there's the Dark Crossplague; a newer Crossplague breed that always has a base scale color of Black and has no color change capability of any kind, nor any luminescent marks. They were crossed with European Wyverns, but kept the six-limbed Westernized Build (two wings, two forelegs, two hind legs). The cross resulted in only mental alterations; they are impatient, not as intelligent, and prefer to remain isolated and live on their own from birth. No maternal instinct is present in either gender after the eggs hatch. Their dangerous attitude and tendancies have them marked as a dangerous species (lethal force authorized to citizens, police, ground forces, pilots and aviators (as well as their dragons) when challenge by one). They most of them cannot be persuaded to be harnessed (used by aviators), and therefore almost never are put to military or personal use. They are just a bit larger than the Crossplague; 57.55 feet long and 25.94 feet tall average. They are on the endangered species list, but not regrettably, seeing their morbidly deadly tendencies to prey on humans and other dragons habitually (they literally eat anything living). Their abilities just add to the degree.

The Spectrum Crossplague; the absolute largest of the Crossplague breed. This strain is the original Crossplague, existing only a century after the end of the first Ice-Age (also becoming the first warm-blooded reptiles and the first to pass the trait on). They can change their color, but are very limited in what colors they can. They can only be born with warm colors to start, with any color of belly scales; but their color changing ability is limited completely to opposites. So if they were born White with Black, their color change is limited to Black with White. (I'm still working out proper sizes for Sytex and his clan.) The Spectrum Crossplague is known for changing color when put under stress; anger, sadness, hopelessness, etc. When not changed in color, the entire breed is known for benevolence and mercy as well as its interest in intellectual pursuits. Extensive study has been one on the strain, revealing that they elicit high degrees of connection to the earth and are very closely associated with humans. A rare day to see a Spectrum Crossplague put into harness, however; they prefer one rider if any at all. There is a Spectrum Crossplague (as well as a Celestial) as representatives for Dragonkind on the United Nations council. The Spectrum Crossplague is the largest of the entire breed; 90 feet long and 31.48 feet tall on average.
