In my opinion I consider this a good thing.

By the selling of tails, ears, and other animalistic things people buy can help people become more comfortable and open-minded about furries.

Think about it.
Homosexuality [Note: No I'm not comparing sexuality to the fandom] slowly become more socially acceptable and open due to the positive/neutral examples via the media and LGBT groups.
It took a few decades before being openly gay/bisexual/lesbian/etc. was safe to do.
Even though there is still some denied rights and lack of tolerence with some people in the world, the number of people who actually understand, accept, and support it are many.

Case in the point.
The more furry-like things that are considered positive/neutral and are accepted out in the open will slowly cause the Furry Fandom to be better understood for what it really is.

I went to hot topic to check out if they would be selling them near me (Just to satisfy my curiosity)
ONE. Terrible quality, $40, and for some reason people where buying them >.> It attached to a belt via a cloth loop. Kind of looked like it belonged on a MOLLE system, tbh.

It was made of nylon/cotton (same as the $3 old navy shirts) Pulled over a wire frame. For some reason they felt it was alright to have visible seems/stitching at both ends of the tail.
