Mate question

Hi! As some of you may know, I'm new to the fandom and the site, and I had a question concerning mates. Does your fursona's mate have to be your gf/bf in the, how shall I say, "hairless", world around us? Or is your fursona more like a roleplay character you really relate to, and if you were an animal, thats not only what youd be, but who you'd be?

Hmm... let me try again.

I have a non-furry gf. Is it considered cheating if my fursona gets a mate?

But yeah anyway, its not like its a real relationship when it comes to your fursona. That's like a guy dreaming about another girl. Last time I checked, having physical contact with another person in your head or dreams doesn't count as cheating. If your fursona's not real, then neither's the relationship.

So glad you're not like that. Sorry I keep going on about it, but I just got off a site with an admin who hated his members, treated us like dirt, and yet had everyone wrapped around his finger. This is such a refreshing change! ^^

It kinda depends on your personal preference/definition of mate... I mean, a lot of furs mates are their actual bfs/gfs. Since I don't really roleplay, for me a mate is whomever i'm dating so I wouldn't have a separate mate for my fursona.

But hey, whatever floats your boat I suppose. Have you talked with your girlfriend about this?

It all depends how you feel about your mate. I wouldn't want to betray mine, so I wouldn't really try to find a bf/gf. Heck, I consider my mate to be my bf

my personal viewpoint is that a mate is a bf/gf... furry and non-furry. for me the two words are interchangeable.

but you're not me! mate can mean whatever you want it to mean, but your girlfriend may not see it that way. could turn dicey if she finds out and thinks you're cheating. i know this is a horrible answer to give to questions like this, but it really is up to you matey.
