Hyundai has a bad reputation everywhere I've ever been, so I steer clear. My rental for a couple days was a Hyundai Elantra, which got really great gas mileage, but the car was so low to the ground I had to shrink to get into the car everytime.

Yes I believe they are made to be disposable rather than serviced.  However because of their low cost have been adopted by the UK police for patrol cars not needed for cinematic chase scenes.
