You use an Inventory.  A good choice might be the STAI (state trait anxiety inventory) it measure your level of anxiety as a constant personality trait versus current anxiety due to transient circumstances.


The DASS (Depression anxiety stress scale) is good too because those things have conceptual overlap and it tries to tease them apart.
