No, you just plain can't multiply by roots period, because there's quite some difference if you try to calculate √(9+16) that way. One solution gives 12, the correct one should of course be 5.

No, I didn't mean multiply, but just that √(9 + 16) should become = √9 + √16. But that's not the case. I believe it was only the case with unknown factors.

Like 3(X + 4) would become 3X + 12.

That works, but only if the mathmatical operation is * (multiply). If there's no operation present (like in your example), * (multiply) is used by default. Like, you also can't change 15/(3+2) to become 15/3 + 15/2. However, if you have 15*(3+2) you can use 15*3 + 15*2 to get the answer.

I can't quite say that I understand...

But, at least I can say that I see why  2(2+4) = 2x2 + 2x4 = 4 + 8 ~ 12 results to the same answer as 2(2+4) = 2x6 ~ 12

√(-1 + 5) + 7! / (7 * 5!) = 4

Let me explain it simply... 2(2+4) = 2*(2 + 4). Easy! But you can't use √(-1+5) to √*(-1+5). Easy way to check if it seems to fit: you can turn multiply operations around and get the same answer. And you the first one who wants to try to solve (-1+5)*√. Or in your case, the first person who tries to explode Google's calculator.
