Chickenpox made its rounds when I was 7-8.
I remember "everyone" in my class ended up getting it, one after the other, except for me, because according to mom, I had something that resembled that when I was a toddler, and you apparently develop lifelong immunity to that once you've had it.
I also remember being kinda jealous, since to my child-self, it just seemed like they got 1-2 weeks off of school. And who wouldn't want that?
These days I'm extremely grateful I had it at such a young age, as I can't remember having it.
It looks really really unpleasant.
And yeah, medication should be the last resort, and especially if it's something that's potentially addictive.
