Yeah, it can save lives, why not? And it's also supposedly pretty healthy for you to loose some blood. Makes the body produce more, and in case you have an accident or something you recover faster.
I'm living in Poland, in a pretty small village, so I'd have to go somewhere else to donate... I'll look into that during my university most likely, when I'm in a city.

I wouldn't go so far as to say everyone else doesn't care. A lot of them just don't realize how much they're needed. And some have phobias. But it is really unfortunate to see the people that just don't care... Because there are a lot.
