I just want to escape California... I hate my parents, I hate the people, I hate not being able to be myself because Christianity destroys my life. And yet... I cannot, there's no job that can seemingly fulfill my requirements to make enough money to move northeast and have a nice house with free time to spare after work. Right now there seems to be no hope for someone who only has interests in science, computers, and history because only the over-populated states that I hate have those jobs. I feel completely trapped and defeated because there's nothing I can do to escape this life

The only way I'm EVER going to be rid of my parents, is to get out of this state for good. And no, there are no part-time jobs in this area at all, because everyone is against everyone to try and get the jobs, and the few jobs that ARE available are almost impossible to get because you MUST be bilingual (speak Spanish primarily and English secondary). The house itself feels like a prison because there's no escape, I can't drive and I feel no motive to learn because there's no way I could ever afford to pay for it, you can't go anywhere because it's too far from either of the towns nearby, my mom controls everything and everything is only worth a price tag to her, even me. I'm just an investment meant to exist to only stay in this state forever and pay her debts. So I MUST choose a major in college (I only have two months to decide, we all get only ONE chance our whole lives to advance) that PAYS well enough (100K or more) and is located in the northeast of the United States, I don't care if I hate the job, if it gets me out of this state that's all that matters.

Really right now, you've just got to grit your teeth and figure out something. If you stay at home and feel sorry for yourself, what good is that going to do you? You're not going to find a job like that.. And you certainly need to learn how to drive if you want to get out.. So maybe you should motivate yourself. You know, life's not always easy. I'm about in the same situation as you. My parents basically CHOSE my college for me. I wanted to go to a different college, but the option got ruined for me.. I don't have a job. And I'm looking. I gave up my home for someone who needed it more and now I'm stuck in something half the size with someone who tries to take advantage of me financially every chance they get. Yes, it's hard. But I can't give up as much as I'd like to.

I can't relax, I only have 2 months to decide my major, and that's it. If I choose wrong, I could eventually go bankrupt if I choose something that doesn't have any jobs available with loads of student debt under me.

Thanks Wolface, well I've decided to become a Pediatrician.

It seems to pay very well, especially on the East Coast, lots of jobs avaiable in tons of the northeastern states. $500,000 mortgage will easily be accredited by me and I'll get: seclusion, a population of 8000 people, the fastest Comcast broadband *I checked and it IS available there*, and the best Directv HD service possible. My girlfriend *future wife* Straywolf and I are going to do it in 6 or 7 years. That's all there is to it, and no one is going to stop me, not even my parents.
