How To Add Markings?
« on: March 01, 2017, 02:42:05 AM »
I just finished my 4th fursuit last week or so and I've decided to add markings.
However, I really don't know how to go about on doing this without an airbrush and I don't want to go out of my way to buy one for something so small.

Here is the suit:

I have black markings that I desire to add on the forehead and directly under the eyes.

I may also add some on the body since it looks too generic but I usually wear clothes over the suit (It's skintight)

My current options are to
1. Drybrush it on
2. Uh

Yeah.

Send help xd
If I can't find any good solution I'll just leave it as it is.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by markings? Is it spots, stripes, something else? And seeing how the fur is already on the head, unless you want to go through the process of taking some of it apart, the only other option would be an airbrush.

You could still potentially get some black faux fur, cut to the appropriate length, and try to sew it in if you're willing to cut/rip some of the white fur out for it. Good luck!

I'd say make a stencil of the design and airbrush it.

@Alistair
That's not a bad idea, I do have extra black faux fur after all.

@Zaida
Don't have an airbrush, not willing to buy one

I may have over exaggerated when I said to rip it out. Might want to carefully use an exacto knife or something similar, take caution with these though.

If you wanted to paint it, some makers still just use watered down acrylic paint. And since the head usually just gets touch-ups and not a full blown water washing, it could work pretty well. Like Alistar said, using a hooked blade or an exacto knife would be the next option, and use a blanket stitch or similar to sew the markings into the head. It's okay if the foam tears a bit, since the fur will be sewn together and will hold it in place.
