My dad basically believes every person on the internet is just some dumb fat pedophile who sits at the computer all day pretending that he is an attractive young guy/girl who has skill in things.
He believes the news stories of long-distance partners meeting in real life so one can murder the other, goes for every online relationship.
I'm not stupid. I'm not like other kids who will become attached to people on the spot and believe everything they do. I study people. I'm doubtful of what they do. I watch them and think, "is this a lie? Possibly. Let's look deeper. Is there a flaw in this claim? Let's research this, or let's see if he makes another claim that conflicts...", and stuff like that.
I have been on the internet long enough to pick out people's true intentions and behavior in the future, even with text. Most of the time when a noobie totters into the chat, I can watch what they do and think about if they will eventually cause trouble in the future. Sure enough this person will most likely screw up, sometimes within their first few days of chatting.
Sure there are times when I'm wrong---My mate is a good example of this; I thought he was a completely different person and not even close to fit as my mate the first few months of talking with him--- but this is uncommon for me.
Why am I talking about this anyway?
Okay, so, my computer right now is an old serious piece of crap and I need to get a new one soon. There is a member on these forums who I have been talking to tons lately, and he has been building and selling custom desktops. He loves building them, too. A lot of the time he doesn't even care about profit much (He told me that once all he took for labor payment was a cooked meal by the customer.

). Anyway, knowing how much he's into computers, I thought he'd be able to build me a sweet desktop. I didn't want it to be a supercomputer, but have just enough power to handle gaming and other programs I like to experiment with. He guided me as he picked out the computer parts and even found an epic-looking case to top it all off.
The computer itself would cost $800-something dollars, and I decided I would pay $100 for the labor.
Only thing now was asking my dad if I can get it. It's a great deal so he shouldn't have a problem with it.
What does my dad think? To cut it short, he said this "internet guy" is lying about his knowledge and experience, and that he can build the computer himself.
To be quite honest, my dad doesn't know as much as he thinks he does. I know this sounds bad, but I trust the "internet guy" more than him with computers. I can tell "internet guy" knows what he's doing. He's been building computers for years and does it with a smile. My dad has only
somewhat built this one, pretty much replacing one part then adding a little more RAM (Which brought it up to 768 MB).
I don't want to be mean, but.... yeah.
So that computer I got excited about will never be because, obviously, you can trust absolutely no one on the internet.
