furries and the media
normaly we get a bad rep (csi and a few others i wont say) but tonight there was a news bit run from here on queensland most notably the gold coast just thought i would share it

now at 2:40 i want to make a note of that time stamp for a reason

my good friend raiyoku (green dragon you will see alot of) he is blind but as said he knows from the reactions the smiles are there

now back last year i put a thread in called im sick of it featuring my friend and now is the time to bring it back showing what he is capable of (https://www.thefurryforum.com/forums/index.php?topic=27305.msg1350824#msg1350824)

(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rR5OtUU0i_Q&feature=youtu.be) (i know a few of the suiters there and if you have issues let me know ill get it to youtube soon)

the green dragon is raiyoku who is blind (also is shown as cappuccino)

snapper is ruthofpern

two good friends from the west side of australia

just a little happy topic for the day

EDIT: seems ill have to find a way to youtube it it wont be long hopfuly

While we still get hate, it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be. I actually saw a few non-negative furry references in Simpsons, like the time Furries were voting for Moe as Mayor and the time they were used as a spoof of the Baseball Furies from Warriors.

I agree with Benny, Its not as bad as it used to be, Our media portrayal Is very slowly becoming less of a stereotype then it used to be, The hate At the moment Is more defined on the internet, and It'll probably stay that way, But I can bet It too wil lessen more and more

Every fandom gets bad press. Otherwise there wouldnt be a story.

Even in popular culture it is becoming more common as the fandom continues to grow. Shows like American Dad and movies like Zootopia are a couple examples of what Im talking about. Even though people outside the fandom may not know about furries, they are actively being introduced to them in a funnier and more light-hearted way.

I don't think hate mail for furries will ever go away, or lessen. It is something furs must overcome, no matter how many new cringe worthy videos pop up online.

Did American Dad actually use them in a non-stereotypical way? I know Stan and the head of the CIA (Or whatever it was) tried dressing up as furries for an episode because his boss wanted to find a fat Asian girlfriend, but I remember specifically a furry going up to them, wanting to "yiff-it-up" with either of them.

I don't think we were trying to turn it into a negative. I think it's nice to see furries in media without the usual portrayal.
