Homesick

I really miss Arizona...i mean, it was my birthplace after all, when i moved to redding i thought family would take my mind of it, but now... im just missing everything, no matter how bad it was

i miss my dogs, the food, my house, my friends

Hell, i'm missing the smoggy air and dust storms.

I just...can't shake off the feeling of this and its making me feel weird...especially when i think about my dogs that i've been with my entire life, i wish of couldve taken them here
Thoughts are like arrows: once released, they strike their mark, guard them well or one day you may be your own victim.

Wow. From Arizona all the way to Redding, CA? Why the long move? How long have you lived in Redding?  I don't really know if there's anyway to combat homesickness except moving back where you came from, but that doesn't look like that may happen. Your situation will most likely go away with time, but you may be like this for awhile. I'm not sure what else to say really. I think you'll be okay. Give it some time.

Just hang in there  B)

My life was in two stages -

I lived in Scotland for 10 years where I had family, friends and an awesome country.
Then we all moved to South Africa, the other side of the world, where I've stayed since.

South Africa was a massive adjustment...
New people, new language, people who mocked my accent...

My sister and I seem to have taken two different approaches to this situation

I personally decided to take it by the horns and I've done my best to live in the moment and not look back. I've had an awesome time having lived even by myself for 5 of the years here in a boarding school.

My sister though missed the hell out of Scotland and never really tried to fit in here I don't think. She's moved back to Scotland now and I feel a bit sorry for her, but at least she's happy. She has left her family, pets and friends all over again to go to older friends who may have moved on.

Keep looking forward dude. So many people think about "what if" and they just lose perspective.
It's a matter of sitting on your butt and thinking about how much better things used to be, or getting up and making things better than they were, because things only will get better!

I'm gonna be moving to the US soon, which is gonna be scary.

Will be moving without my family, so will be by myself in a country where I know no people for 3 months.

I think being homesick is just nostalgic, when we look back on our past in a bad mood, we sometimes only seem to look at the good things. You might remember how Arizona was great and stuff, but there were probably a lot of bad things about it too, try to remember those, realize that Arizona probably wasn't this amazing place, but you're feeling nostalgic and miss the "good ol' days"
