Xbox One

So the reveal is over, what're your guy's thoughts?

Honestly;

Excited for:
New IP's.
The new design.
The UI.

Not Excited For:
Kinect being very, very prominent.
{It doesn't look like it's *enforced* online-only, but if you aren't online then you're just using a glorified Xbox 360 upgrade.} It was just announced that it won't be online-only, so that's not an issue!
Price. It comes with the new Kinect. I can only imagine based on the other specs how much even the lowest release package will be.
EA Partnership.

I was not paying attention, but did they debunk any of the rumors surrounding it? If the rumors (such as the 1-console-per-game lock) are true then there's no way I'm buying it. Everything I've heard about does not make me want to buy it at all and a simple interface change isn't going to change that.

Also, enough with the Kinect. Seriously. Nobody wants it. They refuse to let it die by shoving it down out throats and it's annoying.

Quite honestly, Microsoft let me down long ago with this whole attitude and their eternal money grabbing. I made planes long ago that I would just save up for a new PC build and have it ready by September (for GTA V).

As for the new console? Well, as the person above said, if the rumours of 1-console-per-game is true then in my eyes it's already a failure. Same story for the Kinect. "Let it die, Microsoft"

I have always played on playstation so I'm probably biased, but I don't see what Xbox One definitively offers over the PS4 from a gaming standpoint. I'm not techy enough to comment on their specs, but there are a few things that stick out to me. Xbox One forces you to use kinect, will charge a fee for playing used games, still will charge for their online service, and haven't denied that there will be an always-on internet connection required. It seems to me like if you want to be free to play how and what you want you get the PS4. Or if you have the money just get a PC :P

Actually s I added into my post, they confirmed there won't be always online. Not to mention they've said nothing about charging to "play used games." Unless this is something they confirmed behind the scenes I've heard nothing from them about it.

Only thing that'd make me not buy is if it costs more than a "good" computer.

Turns out they did say later on that you have *need* to have internet connection for the first initial use of a game, to register it to your Microsoft/Live account, and to install it to your hard drive.

Then, once that disk/game is registered, to play it on a different Xbox using the disk and/or account, you or the person using it have to pay a fee to have it registered to that account as well. Guess we all know why EA dropped the Online Passes now :D

This removes the game rental marked for Xbox One games, and also makes the Used Game market pretty kaput for it too. Can anyone say PS4?

Apparently backwards-compatibility is not a thing for the Xbox One either.

I'm going to save up for a good PC, I'm tired of this money-grubbing "give them less" crap.

Yup. No XBLA games are compatible, and now Xbox 360 disks are. Apparently you can play the On Demand games on it, but that's it. No classic games or Arcade games can transfer over.

I'd rather pay $900 for a computer I can play on for years with everything I want >>

False. https://twitter.com/XboxSupport/status/336933801517260800 The company itself claims you do not have to pay a fee for using the same game on a different system/account. Who knows what the real catch is, because they conveniently "do not have any information on that."

Aah weird. Last I had heard they said that, but it looks like that was a mistake on their part for saying it.

The fact that there's so much confusion and miscommunication from them is a turnoff all in itself.  >.> But here's another thing, no indie support. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/05/22/sorry-indies-you_2700_ll-still-need-a-publisher-for-xbox-live.aspx
Indie games can be incredible and everyone else is supporting them more and more. Why microsoft insists on leaving them out in the cold, at least for now, is beyond me.

They'd rather have big partnerships and big money makers.
To them, EA Sports games are a more profitable resource than the Angry Birds :I
