Anomalous Music: Oddities and genre-blends
« on: January 20, 2012, 07:54:53 PM »
I just noticed that although there are plently of umbrella topics covering a wider variety of musical styles theres nothing for those little oddities. The bands, songs or sub-genres that dont really fit the mold. For exaple Norse/Viking metal. It's not norse folk music, it's not folk metal, it's not really anything. It's a sub-genre that deliberately blurs lines. So please, feel free to post anything that is a little out there, regardless of genre. Also please dont go getting into debates onto the legitimacy of certain songs- I dont want this place to get too chaotic  ;)

Here's my first examples :D

I have no idea where I'd put Nine Inch Nails Ghost I - IV. It's kind of an assortment of instrumental genres that are relatively off key but amazingly fluent sounding. Trust me you should check it out!

Ghost III - 23 if your into heavier stuff and
Ghost IV - 34 if your into much lighter stuff.

I'd also think of other music like I monster - Cells, which is relaxing but thinking music, I dunno what genre to put that in.
I'd also think of the Binding of Issac soundtrack as something that doesn't really coincide with any genre :P

I've never heard of Norse Metal before, maybe I'll check it out see if it's any good :D
