Title: The Silent Enemy
Post by: Romulan_Furry on February 28, 2016, 04:16:02 AM
(Let's get this show on the road, shall we?)

Virinat... an agricultural world on the fringe of what many spacers called "Furry Space." Jason couldn't have picked a better time to stop by - not only was there a fresh supply of Romulan Ale (that had just arrived, too), but fresh-off-the-farms foods and even better, the Tapping festival was being held tonight. Perfect to relax and temporarily forget the troubles of a traveling warrior hunting the enemy that had hounded his home since before he was born.

Why, then, did he get the cold, chilled feeling that he knew signaled the onset of trouble? He wondered that ever since setting foot on Virinat. But it was this feeling that compelled him to keep his weapons close at hand.

He felt he was gonna need them as he stepped into a saloon, almost devoid of activity due to the coming festival.

Walking across the road between two fields of crops surrounded by  a wooden fence, two cats were walking down the road, when the larger one a  large white tiger spoke up.

"Bah! There's nothing here! No new agricultural technology no new Crop rotation techniques not even  new soil Nutrient replacement plans..." Tigress grumbled walking down the oddly brick path, boots making creaking noises as they bent with her ankles.

"What did you expect Tigress? " The smaller Cat asked" It's not like they have anything new you know why." the smaller cougar added.

"Yeah but you think for once somebody, would take that advanced tech and improvise?" Tigress asked "Gah! Why am I the only one almost constantly updating things.." The large Tiger sighed. "They better have fruit punch or somebody is gonna get a nice Hawaiian punch..."

Jason sat at the bar, and the bartender - a Romulan, standing in stark contrast with everyone else not just in the saloon, but here on Virinat - asked, "What'll it be, stranger?"

"Some Romulan Ale, please," Jason requested.

The bartender poured the requested drink and commented, "You look like someone who's been through a lot."

Jason chuckled. "You have no idea," he responded before taking a sip of his ale.

Above there was a silhouette holding a pair of binoculars, his eyes tensed so hard on the avenue they hurt.

"Do you see him yet lieutenant?" The small grey orb warbled.

Zippo wiped the anxious sweat off his forehead with the cuff of his federal enforcer shirt. He unbuttoned the two top buttons and relaxed his eyesight.

"Are you always this chatty?" Zip replied with a question.

"Only when I'm on a case with you." CO3 blinked, hovered over his shoulder and spun twice.

The cop went over and sat on the ledge of the building and cast a wondering eye down at a local joint, a bar or saloon of some sort. He swallowed once, tried to anyways but struggled. He decended down the metal staircase to the alleyway below with CO3 following.

Before walking across the avenue he completely took off his shirt and turned it inside out for a more casual look, rolled up the sleeves and pulled the tail of his shirt over the handle of his pistol.

Jason sipped his ale, seemingly oblivious to what went on around him. His "Storm" Plasma Assault Rifle ( http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121117115538/halo/images/5/5d/H4_stormrifle_trans.png (http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121117115538/halo/images/5/5d/H4_stormrifle_trans.png) ) leaned on the counter next to him, easily within arm's reach.

"We don't get many soldiers here," the bartender commented.

"I'm no soldier," Jason responded. "Just a wandering warrior hunting a faceless, shadowy enemy."

"And what enemy is that?" the bartender asked.

"If I knew who they were, I wouldn't be calling them faceless and shadowy, sir," Jason answered. He slid a small medallion emblazoned with a hexagonal symbol. "But that is their emblem. They've hounded my home world since before I was born."

The bartender examined the strange symbol with a frown. "Nope - doesn't ring any bells," he said.

The cop slipped the leather pouch which had his copper and gold plated badge under his shirt. It was hot, like around 90 he thought but it seemed a humid uncomfortable hot.

His earpiece picked up a hint of static before the incoming transmission "Bobcat, Intellegence. Report."

He left the safeguard, an island of shadow from the building behind him "Intellegence, Bobcat. No visual confirmation yet, CO3 is still undergoing schematics of this planet's grid."

"Confirmed. Keep us updated, we don't know why the syndicates have ceased activity lately or how they have gotten their hands on tech advanced enough to clone. Or perhaps the why they chose you to clone. Intellegence out 14:36."

"Confirmed." Zippo walked into the saloon turned to CO3 with a smirk "Ladies first."

"Oh, what a gentlemen." CO3 sarcastically retorted and Zippo chuckled.

"I like our new RAC Robotic Assistant Cypher, they've improved their sense of humor."

Jason paid little heed to the newcomer in the saloon, but quickly pocketed the medallion when he heard the newcomer speak.

"Welcome, stranger," the bartender greeted the newcomer. "Take a seat, I'll be right with you."

"Hey," Jason asked, "There gonna be more Romulan Ale at the festival tonight?"

"That's why we got this fresh shipment in," the bartender responded. Jason smiled. This was gonna be a hell of a festival.

Zippo's shadow cast down ahead and over an anthro sitting at the bar. The light behind him subdued into the secluded darkness of a saloon. Cut throats, thieves and bounty hunters alike sat quietly-guiltily over their beverages. He was coming in and could sense a tension so thick he could cut through it with a knife.

He wore a helmet which had a long metal shroud that covered his neck and partially his long hair. A set of blue goggles settled on the short brim of his aviator helmet. His eyes captured what little light came down on him. It set them ablaze as he pitched them over towards the bartender.

A tiger, considerably bigger than him sat ahead. He had to keep undercover, here he would most definitely start a fight if anyone so much as caught a glimpse of his badge.

Although he was smaller than most aliens Zippo was smarter than anyone gave him credit for "Jack and Coke. Tall."

"Seems like a nice place." Zippo could easily feel an anxious, weary tone in CO3's voice.

His head sunk down into his shoulders as he sat in one of the bar stools. He could see out of the corner of his eye the rifle beside Jason.

The Romulan bartender poured the requested drink and slid it to the one requesting. "Tell me, what brings--" the bartender began. He was cut off as the communications panel rang. He went to answer it, And Jason finally made a comment to the newcomer. He moved his rifle aside and offered a hand to shake. "Jason Priznat," he introduced himself.

As the barkeep answered the communicator, an alien-that snow white tiger said something. He was listening in to the conversations around him, attempting to be aware of his surroundings. There was an uncomfortable send that seemed to drag on. The Tiger now known as Jason Priznat held his paw out to him.

Zippo stared at it for a moment and then up at Jason "Talon, Talon Phoenix (alias)."

The fox didn't bother to shake his paw and instead returned to the glass of whiskey on the bartop. His elbows went up and rested on the counter, his tail flickering slyly.

"Forgive him, he can be difficult sometimes." CO3 said

A large white tiger burst into the door, followed by a smaller cougar like cat  "Fruit punch Soft, no Alcohol, on the rocks and it better danged be fruit punch and not Hawaiian punch, or You'll be getting one." Tigress growled out, sitting down next to Zippo, with a thud, not paying him any mind, anger showing all over her short cat muzzle, ice blue eyes showing her mood as well.

Keri the smaller cat let out a sigh and sat down on the other side of Tigress. " Orange juice on the rocks." she said to the bartender in a lighter tone.

Jason raised an eyebrow at the new Tiger and her feline companion as the bartender poured the requested beverages. Jason's initial expression turned into a slight frown, as though he were suddenly suspicious of this new tiger and her companion, and his outstretched hand that was originally going to shake Talon's hand drifted to his Storm rifle.

"Did Avren get to you, too?" the bartender asked as he slid Tigress and Keri their drinks.

Jason frowned. "Who's Avren?" he asked.

"Farmer," the bartender answered. "Works the vineyard. He's been bugging anyone with a gun to get rid of the Khellids in his vineyard. I'm surprised he didn't get to you."

"Where is he?" Jason queried.

"Just look for the fuming farmer yelling at his farm hands up near the fields. Can't miss him," the bartender replied. Jason slapped his tip on the counter, grabbed his Storm rifle, and headed out the door, intent on using the supposed "Khellids" for target practice... if anything but to kill time before the festival.

Tigress, nodded to the bartender in thanks, lightening  up a little "No, there's nothing interesting on this blasted planet nothing new nothing fun all boring  old stuff." Tigress grumbled "Hopefully this so called festival is good, bet it'll be nothing like the Tigarian festival of peace, or the Dovahkiir's festival of Yol.

"Ooh that last Yol Festival was fun." Celina spoke up "Thanks." The Khajiit said to the bartender, who looked odd to her.

The tingle of whiskey slid down his throat and sat in his stomach like a brick. The fox squinted as it burned his insides.

"Can you make any money, shooting these things?" He put the tall glass down and slid it over in front of the bartender.

He could recognize the female attributes of the tiger beside him, although he thought it strange he should meet two tigers in one day. He heard another female voice but couldn't see who she was. Neither did he try to see.

"Not the drones, no," the bartender responded to Talon's query. "The drones alone are about the size of a mastiff - they'll usually leave you alone if you leave them alone. It's the Khellid Sentinels you'd wanna watch out for; they fly and spit acid. Attacks damn near everything that comes near them that isn't a Khellid."

Jason, far removed from the conversation, went about drilling Khellids and repairing damaged water lines. He found it notably odd that the Khellid Drones were doing such. Such kind of indigenous life usually didn't have reason to attack water lines. And they usually weren't this aggressive. It was as though something had them all riled up.
Title: Re: The Silent Enemy
Post by: Alessia Starfurr on February 29, 2016, 12:09:43 AM
"Somethings a bit odd about those drones.." Tigress muttered." Don't seem  to strong alone, but together they make a mess." She mused. "They don't seem local either, you sure these things are local that doesn't look like something I'm familiar with."
Title: Re: The Silent Enemy

"On the contrary," the Bartender corrected Tigress. "Khellids are indigenous to Virinat. The Drones aren't as dangerous..." he paused to look at Talon. "... or profitable... than the Sentinels. I hear the chemical glands on those things are worth a lot to certain research divisions in this galaxy."

"I still don't think they were orginally on this planet..." Tigress muttered driking the whole half of her drink that was left. "IF only i had broguht an AI." Tigress grumbled getting up  from her seat, paying the Bartender, turning around to head out "Keri I'm gonna look into this, do what you want.

"I'll stay here thanks."Keri replied

"alright you know how to get a hold of me." Tigress replied  heading out of the Cantina.

Zippo or rather Talon knocked on the wooden bartop and shyly looked around "Have you finished your schematics?"

CO3 warbled and buzzed "Yes. Unfortunately our counterpart is nowhere to be found, although I've put out a warrant he likely won't be taken alive."

As the tiger left his eyes drifted down to Keri, an attractive female who filled out the curves of her garments without scant.

"Barkeep, this place looks familiar have you seen me in here before?"

Keri finished her drink and , got up to leave, trying to catch up to Tigress who had paid the bill for her, before the large tiger had left.

Outside

"Where was that whining farmer?" Tigress asked herself looking around for the farmer head turning side to side to find him, she spotted him just when Keri caught up

"Thought you wanted to stay behind, Keri." The large tiger muttered noticing Keri out of the corner of her eye "Good I could used your assistnace still have that laser range finder?"Tigress asked her Battle rifle seemly forming out of atoms in her hands.

"Somewhere in this mess." Keri replied clicking a button on some odd device on her belt. "There it is." Keri said as a laser range finder seemed to magically form in her right hand.

"Good, let's see what's up here something's telling me those bugs aren't local fauna." Tigress said walking up to the disgruntled Farmer "Still having trouble with the bugs?" Tigress asked

The bartender curled his lips and shook his head. "Can't say that I have," he answered. He scratched behind one of his pointed ears. "And I've been here since... oh, I want to say... 2400? 2401? It's been near 10 years - settled here after the Hobus Supernova - so I've seen a lot of people come and go. Don't think I've ever seen you before. Why do you ask?"

*** Outside ***

Avren turned to face Tigress and Keri. "Not anymore - your friend with the Plasma Assault Rifle took care of that. If you're looking to assist him, he went toward the caves... said something about the Khellids' aggression not being normal."

And Avren was right - Jason was coming up on the area just outside the caves. And it was swarming with frenzied Khellid Drones and Sentinels. And Jason forgot to bring his grenades.

"I think we better hurry before he disables or destroys any specimins!" Tigress said hurring to  the caves to catch up with Jason.

Keri was close behind Tigress as the two cat's ran towards  the caves to catch up with Jason, unsure of what was to come she activated another thing on the odd device on her belt , mjolnir armor 'materializing around her body with a helmet. "Motion track picking up a bunch of activity about a 100 meters ahead ,Tigress.

"Got it." Tigerss said 'activating' her armor as well.

"No reason." He took out two bits of credits, two small little crystal glass coins and put them on the table "C'mon CO3 lets go we have work to do."

Zippo walked out of the saloon and grabbed a what looked like a Mardi Gras mask, he knew that a disguise could help him find the target.

"I just got some surveillance footage of the target, he's on a bullet train inbound to our location." Zippo smiled as he put on the mask.

"The party should start soon."

Jason was aware of the arrival of Tigress and Keri. "I don't suppose either of you brought any grenades?" he asked them.

And the two undercover cops were correct - the Tapping Festival was to start soon; furs, Romulans, and Remans (of all people) were bustling to and fro to get things ready. The Maiori (Colony Leader) - Malem - was up on stage talking with a few of the others.

"... But according to Avren, the Tiger guy - Jason, or whatever his name is - fixed the lines and is heading to deal with the Khellids at their source, maybe find out what's got them so riled up," stated a Canine.

"Well, here's to hoping he calms them down before the festival begins," Malem commented. "Those Khellids are enough trouble as it is."

"No." Keri replied "Wasn't expecting a fight only packed essentials, Keri said looking over to Tigress.

Tigress materialized her Battle Rifle back into storage and un-materialized her Fuel Rod cannon. "Does this count?" she asked.

Jason nodded. "Good enough - think you can blast me a path to that cave there?" he asked, indicating the Khellid Hive Cave beyond the infested area.

One of the furs - a rodent - and his Romulan friend noticed Zippo and his companion and shouted to get their attention. "Hey! Either of you willing, by chance, to help my friend and I lift this thing?" He indicated an entertainment provisions stand intended for use at the coming festival. Indicating an area near the stage, he added, "We need this thing moved over there."

"Yeah, and our muscle skipped out on us," the rodent's Romulan friend grumbled.

"Can you blame him?" the Rodent asked. "He's a Reman. They're better in the dark. And it's broad daylight right now."

"I'm not the one who broke his day walker glasses, David!" the Romulan growled.

"That depends on how thick they are." Tigress replied, loading a stack of 10 fuel rod packets into the cannon. "FIRE IN THE HOLE!" she shouted fireing about five of the gel pack like rounds at the Kheliids in the way.

Keri stood back preparing for a counter attack cocking her Battle rifle.
Title: Re: The Silent Enemy
Post by: Romulan_Furry on March 01, 2016, 01:22:54 AM
The rounds detonated and blew holes in the mob of Khellids. The drones scampered for cover, but the Sentinels got angry and went on the attack; Jason raised his storm rifle and fired controlled, focused bursts, taking them down one by one as he went for the cave. The chaos stopped as soon as it began, however, as Jason quickly found himself in the cave. In stark contrast with the area outside, the cave was dead - both devoid of activity and deathly silent, whereas the area outside was so alive with activity and served to provide a constant flow of sound.

Jason crept into the cave slowly, keeping his rifle leveled and ready to fire.

Tigress fired a few more rounds clearing the way for herself.

Keri keeping close to tigress shot down any sentinels that got too close with her Battle Rifle, loud 3 round burst 'burping' from the weapon.

The two Cats ran into the entrance of the cave  making sure to  'shoo' of any followers, then stopped and stood in awe at the silence...

"Oookay that's... creepy." Keri said.

"Yeah something is not right, keep your weapon handy." Tigress replied loading a few more 'gel' packs into her fuel rod cannon.

Razuel had been returning from a job, but had become fairly exhausted, so upon entering a town, Razuel noticed a bar, and decided to go inside the bar.

==INSIDE THE BAR==

"Hello, Bartender. Could I get something to drink?"

Post by: Romulan_Furry on March 01, 2016, 03:01:13 AM
The bartender smiled. "What'll it be, stranger? We've got a fresh stock of Romulan Ale, we've got whiskey, bourbon, wine, and plenty of water, juice and soft drinks. Take your pick," the bartender answered.

"Hmm, I'll have some bourbon, please."

"Bourbon it is," the bartender responded, grabbing a bottle of the requested libation from the top shelf. "Came in the same shipment as the Ale." He poured a glass for the stranger and slid it to him. "Planning on sticking around for the festival?" he asked.

*** KHELLID CAVE ***

Jason moved through the cave, and eventually came upon a strange device guarded by a drone - and the drone wasn't a Khellid. No, this thing was clearly mechanical, and hovering a couple feet off the ground with no visible wings. Jason cautiously approached the machine, lowering his weapon so as not to appear threatening. It was a mistake. The second the drone saw Jason, it rushed him; Jason raised his rifle and downed the machine, then approached the strange device ( http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/sto.gamepedia.com/b/bf/Elachi_beacon.png (http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/sto.gamepedia.com/b/bf/Elachi_beacon.png) ), wondering what it was and if it was what was driving the Khellids into a frenzy.
Title: Re: The Silent Enemy

Tigress and Keri rushed into the room "Blast late to the party."  Tigress grumbled pulling out some odd device and scanning the remains of the machine. "Hmm i've never seen anything this sophisticated outside of home." Tigress muttered, after finishing her scan.

Razuel grabbed the glass of bourbon and took a sip, then put the cup down, "I might, it just depends on which contract I get. Ya see, I'm a freelance merc, I just came from a job just a few km down the road... I think his name was Jenny? no, Danny, that was his name. Apparently he had stolen and killed a bit in the past and someone wanted him for some reason, so naturally I get a call, I go get 'em, and return them to the client, this one was a pretty penny, about a few K...", Razuel then took another sip of the bourbon, "...must've been some bit of trouble that one caused, eh, oh well, job's over and I get the rest of the day off."

"Can you access anything in that thing?" Jason asked. "Because I think we need to shut this thing off - I believe it's behind the Khellids' sudden aggression."

*** Saloon ***

"Well, a man's gotta stay busy, and he sure as heck needs to earn a living. But it's good to kick back now and again," the bartender said.

Title: Re: The Silent Enemy
Post by: Razuel on March 01, 2016, 08:04:04 PM
Razuel looked at his glass, seeing only that it was half empty, "Well, that sure is true. Say, do you know of the happenings around here, Bartender?, anything that might peak an eyebrow in interest?", Razuel then took another sip of the bourbon.
Title: Re: The Silent Enemy
Post by: Romulan_Furry on March 01, 2016, 08:45:41 PM
Jason waited for Tigress' response, but looked about the strange machine for a way to shut it off.

*** Saloon ***

"Well, the only eventful thing that's happened today is the Khellid attack on the nearby vineyard," the bartender sighed, "Which is odd because Khellids aren't normally that aggressive unless someone - or something - agitates them. They're like bees; they'll usually leave you alone if you leave them alone. Piss them off or threaten them in some way, and they'll attack you. Anyway, there was a guy in here that went out to deal with the Khellid issue... not sure what's taking him so long. Hope nothing happened to him."

"Trying to shut it off?" Tigress asked. "I don't think you'll find an off switch, things like this never do." Tigress said rasing her fuel rod cannon like a hammer.

"In that case," Jason said, raising his Storm Rifle and firing a sustained burst into the beacon and forcing it offline. Outside, the Khellids all calmed down and left. Jason examined the strange mechanical flying drone he'd taken out earlier. "What the heck is this thing?" he mused. He took out an image capture device and captured images of both the device and the drone. "Maybe someone in town will know what these things are," he suggested.

"I doubt it, this one is more foreign than the bugs outside." Tigress said before slamming her fuel rod cannon into the drone to make sure it was off.

"What was that light it emitted?" Keri asked.

Razuel then chugged down the rest of the bourbon and slammed it down on the counter, "Then I will go to that vineyard! "Alright. Got it. Well, see ya later, sir.", and with that Razuel burst out of the saloon and flew towards the nearby vineyard, landing just a few feet outside of a cave.

==Khellid Cave Entrance==
At the Cave entrance Razuel heard voices, then decided to just sit outside the cave until whoever was in there to come out. Razuel found a nearby boulder and sat on it, sharpening his sword, and whistling a tune.

(think we need to slow down a bit for Trinity. Haven't seen him post in a while.)

Just as Razuel got onto the boulder, Jason emerged from the cave. He heard the sharpening of a sword and jumped in surprise, dropping his image capture device and pointing his Storm Rifle at Razuel. When he saw Razuel wasn't attacking, he lowered his weapon. "You shouldn't startle people like that," he said. He bent over and retrieved his image device, thankful it wasn't damaged. "Who are you?" he asked.

I am Razuel Dracon, a freelance mercenary, I simply take jobs of most kinds, however any killing must be specified or done by the client...", Razuel picked up his sword and returned it to its scabbard, and turned back to the two,"...and no I'm not here on a job, I was just bored and asked a bartender if anything interesting was happening, and he pointed me towards this area, told me that some people were doing something out here, involving some creatures."

"yeah, and we found something in there," Jason hitched a thumb to the cave behind him. "Took some images of it before I took it out of commission." Tossing the image capture device displaying the strange machine and the drone to Razuel, he asks, "Either of those look familiar?"

(The image of the machine is in an earlier post - drone looks like this: http://images-cdn.perfectworld.com/www/22/84/228495c7ec08d0d78b297c22965e29591380652861.jpg (http://images-cdn.perfectworld.com/www/22/84/228495c7ec08d0d78b297c22965e29591380652861.jpg) )

Razuel looked at the drone, "Hmm, yeah, well sorta, I've seen a more primitive version of this drone, I stripped the AI from it and now she assists me. Ya see, I took the AI, had someone reprogram it, and now she sits in my watch.", Razuel's watch was now emitting a faint blue light, "Hm, seems she's awake now."

"Definitely was more primitive are you sure it was like that one?" Tigress asked , not having a clue where it came from ,but knowing a lot about technology.. "That sort of technology definitely does not belong here more so than those Khellid" The large tiger added, looking over the scans she took.

"I'm certain of it, however its true origins are unknown to me, I simply found the drone on one of my missions, took its AI, and that's just about it.", Razuel scratched his head, " If you are wondering, I found it in a downed ship a few years back, there were a few others like it, but the rest were shot, literally. "

Keri meanwhile was busy with her Datapad searching for something.

"Interesting... but what would such a device and drone be doing here?" Jason mused. "There's nothing of any value here - no military presence, no research labs... this is just an agricultural colony. Unless the beings behind this thing have any interest in agriculture, why... would..." Jason's voice trailed off, as a new line of thought entered his head.

"At least a possibility," Jason suggested, "But... I think that machine might have been a beacon. But that raises the question of whose beacon it was, and why it was here. It also raises the possibility that whomever that beacon belonged to may come looking for it since I took it out of commission. Still, the fact that it was hidden in the Khellid cave would suggest that whoever it belonged to wanted to keep it hidden." He looked between Tigress, Keri and Razuel. "The Maiori needs to be informed of this development."

"The Maiori," Jason clarified, "The Colony leader, the one who presides over this colony. He's supposed to be at the festival tonight. In fact, he was overseeing the preparations when I went to the vineyards. He needs to know about this."

Razuel stepped behind a boulder, and slashed a tabletop surface to display his weapons, and a small tune being played from his watch (https://youtu.be/o0HIn9ksF4M) , "I sure do! With me I carry a Damascus Steel sword modified to cauterize, or poison the victim...", Razuel placed the sword on the stone slab, "I also own a Light-weight Sniper Rifle equipped with a modifier and a silencer...", Razuel placed it on the stone slab, "...and finally, my favorite mid-range weapon, the A4-MAGNUM with silencer.", Razuel then placed it on the stone slab, and felt pretty sure of himself.

"As much as I wouldn't mind, I don't want to leave these two behind," Jason answered as they approached the outer edge of the colony town. "Besides, it's not that... far..." Jason again trailed off, as another thought entered his head as he walked into the colony. "Hmm... that's an interesting thought... and disturbing." He hitched a thumb back to the cave's direction and asked, "A strange device and an alien drone in a Khellid Cave not far from this town... any of you thinking what I'm thinking?" It was as he was finishing his sentence that they reached the edge of the colony. The preparations for the Tapping Festival were more or less done, all that was being handled at present being the decorations.

"I wasn't suggesting the festival was a cover for--" Jason began, but was interrupted by the arrival of the Maiori.

"I hear it is you I have to thank for taking care of our Khellid problem," he said. "Thank you. Without your able assistance, and that of your companions, the Festival might have been delayed - or, gods forbid, canceled."

"Thank you, Maiori, but we need to speak in private," Jason said in a hushed tone, "The situation has become much more complicated."

Tha Maiori's expression changed instantly. He nodded, then motioned for the lot to follow him. "Follow me," he requested. He led the group to a secluded office, where he asked, "Now, what's the problem? Why a clandestine meeting?"

Jason handed the Maiori his image capture device, displaying the drone and the machine he found in the cave. "Do either of those things look familiar to you?"

The Maiori looked over the images with a confused look, before his brow furrowed in concern. Looking up at the lot, he asked, "Any of you ever heard of the Elachi?"

"That's just it," the Maiori sighed, "I don't know much about them myself. I have no idea if they pose a threat, and I don't know why they would want to attack this place, let alone what they would want."

"So we have no choice but to keep this hushed until we know more," Jason suggested.

"Right," the Maiori responded, "I will not risk a riot. But... I am relying on you lot to get the colonists out of here should these Elachi attack."

Jason hesitated fractionally before saying, "Let's hope we can get them to a ship should evacuation prove necessary. I don't have one." Even as he said this, he trembled slightly, either out of trepidation or outright fear.

Kavin walked the city streets head constantly in motion surveying everything, having just arrived he had made sure to eat and at the recommendation of the locals decided he would get some vacation time in before moving on.

Kavin would be described by some as a Possum standing about five and a half feet tall with an average build covered in dull gray fur with black accents, he wore a heavy worn grey coat that ended just below his knees and had been mended many times over its use.

Those that met Kavin's gaze quickly turned away, if having been asked why they would remark that he had looked like someone that had seen a ghost but since had never stopped seeing it and that he was at the same time both tired and alert.

“Man I need a drink...”

Gloved hands lighting a cigarette he took a drag and decided it would be wise to find a place to sleep before the party kicked off... then drinking...

As Jason walked out of his meeting with the Maiori, he paused momentarily to look over something on his personal Data Pad. The signal he'd been monitoring was still where it was when he came here. And that was a relief to him, if minor. This threat posed by these "Elachi" loomed over him like a dark shadow. He felt it - like a low rumble before the storm.

And Jason feared what was ahead...

Razuel followed Jason out of the room, and put his hand on Jason's shoulder, "Ya know, the ship that's comin' is an extremely strong ship, and its crew is ready for battle, so there's no reason to be worried... we'll be fine.", Razuel took his hand off Jason's shoulder, " Tell ya what, I'll buy You, and the other 2, a round of drinks later, that oughta calm you down, eh?"

"I'm more worried about what will happened between that time." Tigress replied, following the other two, face , tail and ears showing signs of concern and worry.

Keri had gone off somewhere to do, something on her own, being as stealthy as she was, nobody likely noticed her leaving the group, nonetheless she kept in silent contact with Tigress via their datapads.

Razuel sighed, "Come now. I understand that the tension is fairly high here, but when you worry, or anyone for that matter, it just makes things worse. Worrying never does anyone good. Now please, we've all had a long day, lets just enjoy the festival and have fun, and if there happens to be an attack, we will be notified.", Razuel then began to lead them to a saloon, "By the way, I never learnt either of your names."

Razuel was still disturbed by the look of concern on their faces, he then stopped and put a hand on both of their shoulders, "Now, stop that it is you both are doing, and worry about the now and not what might come, okay? We are all strong enough to defend these people, if need be, until my ship arrives. So please, ease yourselves and lets go have fun for now."

Jason rolled his eyes, grabbed Razuel and Tigress by their collars, and jerked them close to his face so he could whisper without worrying about anyone else hearing, "I told you, I have contingencies of my own. Razuel, your ship likely won't get here in time, if these Elachi are who I think they are, which is where my contingency comes into play. When I told the Maiori I didn't have a ship... I lied. I know if I could trust him with that knowledge." He looked to Tigress without turning his head. "Are you familiar with the workings of a Chimera-class Heavy Destroyer?"

Meanwhile:

As the fox returned to the Summer Ridge building (across the avenue from the saloon), the lookout spot he had been before - an unnerving sensation of being watched fell over him. Behind him out of the crowds two agents were hot on his trail.

Instantly the enforcer's paw went up to his ear piece. He broke away from the throng inside the Summer Ridge building for the eastern staircase "Intelligence, this is Bobcat. Someone else has crashed this party."

There was a hand on his shoulder, it stopped forward progress but like most assets he was very well trained. His arm went underneath and around the Agent's. With ease he easily released the man's grasp and broke his arm. As the agent went down in a cry of pain he snapped his neck on the metal hand railing.

Now the other pursuer relinquished her weapon and fired a brash poorly aimed round that hit the wall behind Zip. Everyone scattered and out of response a woman screamed as the agent chased Zip up the stairs.

"Bobcat, Intellegence. Do you have any idea who it is?" He was coming to a stop, sliding to the middle of the hallway.

"I am unable to tell at this time. They're trained, definitely not syndicate material, break. CO3 give me an immediate scan of the area. I want to know how many there are!" She was almost on top of him now when the electrical whizz of a tazer came apparent.

They faced each other, encircled and grappled. If he could somehow get a good handle on her he could get the tazer. She dropped it and after he danced around the blaster fire of two other agents he kicked it aside and continued up the stairs.

"Intellegence, I've got three in hot pursuit." He busted out of the door to the roof where he once was and continued running.

As he stepped the railing of the roof he jumped out over the crowd turned around a fired two shots which hit with an inch of their marks. The two agents dropped dead before they hit the ground.

As Zip fell he pulled a device from his pocket activated it and threw it below, it blew into a mat which he landed on. Except there was someone below, the girl who had the tazer.

Razuel saw Zip drop down from the rooftop and ran over to where he dropped, with his sword drawn. As he rounded the corner he saw a girl pointing a tazer at Zip, Razuel then tackled the girl and held her to the ground, "WHAT THE F**K ARE YOU DOING, THIS IS A FESTIVAL, AND YOUR ANTICS HAVE CAUSED PANIC.", Razuel then took out a small syringe and injected it into the girl, making her sleep.

"Th-thanks." Zip looked up at Razuel, C03 had floated down to where he was.

Zip pulled out his Enforcer badge and showed it to Razuel, "My names Zippo Cadonis I work for the Gala Talic Enforcer Federation. I appreciate the help, to who do I owe the favor?"

Razuel sheathed his weapon and crossed his arms, "My name's Razuel Dracon, Freelance Mercenary, and I'm not too impressed for your timing of conflict.", Razuel sighed, "Now don't you Enforcer guys have special training to keep your conflicts quiet, AND not cause a panic?"

Tigress and, Keri moved into action Tigress aiming her fuel rod cannon at the girl, Keri stealthly approaching the girl attempting to steal her tazer, quickly checking her for other weapons.

"You can tell your boss you failed." Tigress growled still aiming the large cannon at the girl.

"What was that all about?" Keri asked.

"Enforcer? never heard of that federation." Tigress replied still holding her fuel rod at the girl for when she got up.

Keri meanwhile put all the girls weapons into a leather bag. "ontop of that why is she chasing you, she a 'lover' of yours?" she asked sarcastically.

The denizens of the colony gathered around the scene, seemingly oblivious to the dark silhouette descending through the clouds. Jason felt a very cold chill in his spine, and grabbed his Storm Rifle, and headed outside, looking around frantically.

"This was a matter or galactic security Razuel Dacon. The Federation Enforcers are the largest organization against all illegal conduct." Zippo was leaning down and studying the female agent's wallet.

"Damn! She's an NBIC operative." He closed his eyes, stood up and walked a few paces away and hung his head "They're not the enemy, she's after me...she thought I was the clone."

His head turned to Keri "I've been hunting down a perp. We fear there is a technological break through in the criminal syndicate. A type of device which can clone anyone or anything...in this case it's me."

Zip tossed the wallet onto her body, shot a suspicious glance over at Kavin and reloaded his pistol.

It was when Jason cast a glance up that things went haywire; out of nowhere, a flying metal machine swooped in and snatched a colonist, heading up into the sky, toward...

The color in Jason's face drained when he saw what was hovering over the colony - a massive, green-and-yellow, arrowhead-shaped ship. It fired a plasma torpedo, and obliterated one of the colony windmills. "CONTACT!" Jason shouted. But it was too late - the alien ship had launched a contingent of shuttles. Shuttles completely different than the machines suddenly swarming everywhere. One of the shuttles landed nearby, and a team of humanoids in black uniforms and pointy ears started shooting anyone with a gun. Jason cursed under his breath. "It's the Tal Shiar! Everyone, get to the shuttles! Tigress, Keri, on me! We're gonna draw their fire!" Jason paused to fire on a drone going for a civilian before continuing, "Razuel, Zip, Kavin, get these people out of here!" He fired on the attacking Tal Shiar troops, getting them to shoot at him as he dove behind some crates.

Tigress, and Keri weee immdantly back on alert armor and weapons materializing, sheilds flaring from the fire, Tigress let loose a couple randome gel packs of her fuel rod not intended to hit anyone ,but to draw fire, as the larger armored tiger got up and moved with Jason.

Keri was letting loose with her Battle rifle also trying to draw fire by not actually aiming.

Along with the larger ship  a Perseus class fighter  (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/GTF_Perseus) broke through the atmosphere, it's afterburners fireing , making a large booming sound as it headed closer to the surface into the swarm of smaller craft, firing volleys of 8 plasma hornet swarm missiles taking out a Tal'Shiar Shuttle and a couple Elachi drones quickly, though one fighter could barley if at all save an entire planet from such numbers of ships.

"What sort of mess did you get yourself into this time?" asked the pilot of the fighter, Amber

Jason rose from cover and fired again on the Tal Shiar troops. While the colonists in the immediate vicinity fled to Razuel's ship, the colonists elsewhere fled to shuttles elsewhere in the colony. They could be seen taking off and heading toward orbit.

"Those shuttles aren't gonna last long!" Jason shouted. "Someone, get to the colony distress beacon and activate it!"

as the shuttles reach farther away from the surface more smaller ships could be seen, not fighters they were too large for that, at least four Poseidon Class freighters (http://www.hard-light.net/wiki/index.php/GTFr_Poseidon), flew in to dock with as many shuttles they could save but even they had to get to them first.

"This is Freighter group Omega moving in to assist evac shuttles head for the docking clamps of the freighters, we'll try to give you a better chance of getting out , we have no room for more people though, nor an access hatch ,but we should be able to use our defences to help you." He threw a grenade into the midst of a formation, and watched the troops scatter. A drone caught the grenade midair, and was heading into a cluster of drones when the device detonated and took the lot down.

"C03 you're going into your case." Zippo grabbed the floating orb, collapsed it and put him into a small container.

His mind was drifting away with him now, slipped down the dark hole of Kira's question "Wouldn't be the first time I made a mistake..."

The fox stood up his fist clinched so hard it hurt, (flashback) in a flash of memory he was inside a hotel room four years ago with a dark elf. He could see it all again, in a dark, dark room...the smell of an addictive substance burning.
She and him were kneeling, facing each other with an empty syringe between them. It was after the concert and he had the backstage pass. She was the singer of a famous metal band back on his home world. As they made out behind the drowning of loud music, he couldn't see she wasn't in the right frame of mind...or maybe he didn't want to.
There was an immense amount of pain as her teeth cut through his tongue. There was blood...staining the sheet, running down them. It was his blood.

Now the horror of a previous naive existence faded behind the rumble of engine, he had learned from his old ways. From the people he use to associate with. Had to grow up, to get his life on the right track.

(present) Zippo was coming to Jason "What are we going to do now?

"First thing is to get away from Virinat, so we'll start there." He worked the console as the shuttles entered the debris field. "Commander Priznat to the Chimera - stand by to disengage the cloaking device and open hangar bays; we have a lot of refugees here fleeing an alien attack."

Silence filled the cabin after Jason's command to the starship that seemed not to be there. Moments later, a ship shimmered and appeared:

Jason lead the shuttles toward the ship's aft quarter, where the hangar bays sat open. "Better hurry, commander," said a Romulan voice. "In about five minutes, more of those alien ships are going to arrive."

Jason frowned. "Why would they need reinforcements?" he mused as he piloted the ship for a landing in the hangar.

Between that and her array of disruptor cannons, Plasmatic Biomatter beams, and Tetryon Disruptor beams, this ship can take down most threats, and is defended by a shield array of mixed tech shields salvaged from a few Borg ships and some Dragon'taan refits done by an engineer who owed me a favor, and a variant of Voyager's Ablative armor generators for tight situations," Jason explained as the shuttle landed. "The Chimera is home-away-from-home for me. Now the setup I had back on the home world, up there in the Jade Palace with mom and dad and all the others? That was awesome." The enforcer moved over to Razuel.

"Medbay has all you need - get there fast and buckle down; it's about to get bumpy," Jason said, settling into the Captain's chair. "Chimera to the Borealis - follow me, we're gonna punch a hole in--"

"Alert!" the Human at the science station proclaimed, "I have multiple Tal Shiar T'Varo Light Warbirds dropping out of warp!"

"Dammit," Jason cursed. "Looks like we're shooting out way out. Tactical, lock onto the nearest target, fire the Lotus array as soon as it's--"

Jason was again interrupted when the ship rocked under a detonation against the hull. The helmsman was thrown from his seat and smacked his head on a step. No time to think. "Tactical, shields up!" Jason looked to Kavin and indicated the helm console. "Kavin, take the helm! Get us moving! Borealis, lock your target, fire at will! We need to clear a path!"

Tigress went to check on, the downed Crewmen "Well, he's not dead ,Jim." Tigress noted "Keri, help me get this guy to the Med bay, he bumped his head pretty hard."Tigress replied.

"On it." Keri said as the two cats took the helmsmen to the med bay.

Borealis_______________

"Fire up the rail guns!" Rae the captain of the Borealis said  as she spotted the warbirds. " Target squired." Said Argo the ship board AI. "Well you know what to do Argo you don't need my permission in a case like this, give em' hell."

The Borealis fired two supersonic slugs into the fleet of Tal'Shiar , trying to hit two of them, one slug hit a Warbird dead in the center making a large dent in the front of the warbird and likely knocking something out internally the second completely missed  it's intended target ,but hit a Warbird in the back of the fleet, hitting it's disruptor cannon likely causing some heavy damage.

"Argo Fire all loaded  Hornet  missiles let's create a flak field to get them busy!" Rae said as the Borealis launched swarms of hornet missiles a massive amount heading towards the fleet of warbirds, mainly acting as a distraction ,but any damage they did was a plus. "This is he Captain of the Borealis, subspace drive is charged we're just waiting for coordinates!" Rae replied as a disruptor blast  hit, shaking the craft and barely doing any damage to the shields at that range.

At that moment, as the Chimera's acting helmsman got moving, the said helmsman unwittingly bringing the Phaser Lotus array to bear, the Tactical officer let loose with the array, and thick, Kadgeron-enhanced, over-energized phaser beams lashed out and struck several of the warbirds simultaneously. One of those targets was one that was previously hit by a railgun, and was blown apart; others got a pounding on their hulls, never mind the shields; the Chimera then fired cannons and beams, and nailed two more targets. The others scattered, damaged and knowing they were no match for the Chimera. "We have our window! Helm, full impulse power! Get us clear!" Jason commanded, "Borealis, get moving! We have to get out of here!"

Meanwhile: on the medbay "Move! Move!" Zip was limping Razuel over to one of they're medical units. It was a large table with sufficient padding and a panel which analyzed the patient.

There were many others inside and as he laid Razuel down he activated his watch "I'm giving him some morphine, but I have to know does he have any allergic reactions?"

The Phoenix appeared over the table, another doctor was beside him but Zip knew enough about battle injuries that he himself could run an ER. The fox went over to one of the stainless steel cabinets and pulled out a vile of morphing and bag of cotton swabs.

"Dr. I need you to scan the patients wound for any further internal damage." The woman turned to him her face an ominous expression.

"I'm not the doctor I'm just a nurse. The Dr. died from trauma sustained on deck 27." Zip turned and stopped, swore under his breath.

The little Phoenix had now turned into some sort of beam that was now circling Razuel's body, and as it was it's voice was heard through Razuel's mouth, a combination of voices, "Hurry, Mr.Zip, I cannot Keep him in stasis much longer!"

He thought quickly and at once activated the scanner which gave no indications of further injuries. Zip administered the morphine and turned to grab surgical pliers. The fox carefully removed the shrapnel imbedded within him.

"I need a thermal probe now!" The enforcer ripped open the dragons shirt.

Once one of the nurses gave him one he carefully cauterize the open wound which stopped the bleeding, then after he sealed the blood vessels Zip sutured him up.

"Based on his blood count give him some alternatives to bring that up." The ship turned again thankfully Razuel was strapped in but Zip struggled to hold onto the table.

"He'll be ok he just needs to rest..." Out of the corner of his eyes Zip caught a glimpse, a reflection of himself but it wasn't from a window.

It was the clone in a black suit which fit the doppelgänger snug. There was some extra padding on the shoulders, elbows and knees. Zippo locked eyes with him and as they separated the clone broke for the main corridor-to the shuttles.

The Enforcer chased after his twin dodging, ducking and evading debris in the hallway. As the ship took an evasive maneuver both foxes found themselves running up the walls onto the roof over the lights and back down again.

'This was supposed to be a civilian job. As in little to no conflict.' The words had gone through the ferret's head as he gathered up his things as best he could. To be fair, he was more comfortable in combat then he had any right to be. That didn't mean he had been itching for it though. As he bolted through, his suit detecting his physical status, he dragged along what few personal belongings he could gather up. Thank goodness his most valuable materials were stored offsite.

The slightly manic ferret had laid down fire as best he could, picking off a few enemies as he made his way. The mustelidae made sure to retract his helmet and show that he was an anthro as he approached the shuttles. The ferret fiercely held on to his belongings, weapons included as he got on to the shuttle. The ship he was going to was rather impressive. The Chimera he'd heard them call it. It didn't matter, really. All that mattered was getting out of there alive, everything else was secondary at best. Once aboard, he stepped out and looked around, undoubtedly looking out of place amongst all the unarmed and unarmored civilians.

... but something happened. As soon as the Chimera went into warp, it dropped out of warp before an alien ship:

"What the hell is that?" someone asked.

"Sir," Science said, "That thing is keeping us from going to warp - it's putting up a warp inhibitor field."

"And we flew right into it," Jason growled. "Great. Just what I need. More complications. Hailing frequencies."

"Open, sir," Comms responded.

"This is Commander Priznat of the starship Chimera to unidentified alien ship - Stand down and power down your warp inhibitor field. If you do not comply, we will use deadly force," Jason demanded. Moments later, they got a response in the form of Jason's message being played back to them garbled in static.

"Are these guys retarded?" one of the younger crewmen asked sarcastically. Truthfully, Jason was wondering that himself; what was the point of playing back his own message?

Unexpectedly, the warp inhibitor field vanished, and the alien ship warped away, but in it's place, a Romulan D'Derridex-class Warbird de-cloaked. "Ugh, these guys never learn," Jason groaned.

"Sir, the Romulan ship is hailing us," Comms proclaimed. Jason nodded, and the officer patched the message through. Immediately, a clearly-arrogant Romulan could be heard as he said,

"So the Elachi were right - there are pitiful ships attempting to escape from Virinat. When will you lesser minds learn that you cannot run from the Tal Shiar?" Jason frowned. He knew this voice.

The ferret wandered about and his ears twitched as he heard the telltale signs of a ship engaging its warp drives. The ferret took careful steps and when the ship entered warp he stayed on his feet with only minimal effort. It did, however, catch him off guard when the ship very quickly dropped out of warp and he stumbled sideways a few steps. "What the.." the ferret's ears twitched manically as he looked around and tried to listen for some signs of engine trouble, but it seemed that things were running fine.

Jogging quickly over to someone who looked like they worked on this ship he immediately broke into a quick series of questions. "What exactly is going on? I thought we were getting out of here but we dropped out of warp in no time. Areweokay? Didsomethinghappen? Ihope.. I hope we're not about to end up stranded.. I'd hate to float in the void when this ship was supposed to save our asses." Alec had felt his speech accelerating in a moment of hyperactivity, but he kept himself (mostly) in check.

"Hakeev!" Jason greeted the commander of the Warbird. "Been too long since Rigel IV! Still at odds with Empress Sela?"

"Jason..." Hakeev growled. "I should have known you were behind this. How fortunate. I can--" Hakeev was interrupted by the sudden arrival of the Borealis.

"Impeccable timing, comrade," Jason chuckled. "So, Hakeev... two ships against one. Both of us are packing weapons that will rip you apart. You'd be smart to stand down and walk away with your skin still attached. But, knowing you, I'll probably get 'I'll burn you like the weakling you are' like last time. So..."

"On the contrary," Hakeev responded. "My ship has been vastly upgraded since last we met!"

"Uh, yeah, so has mine, dip****. Will you ever learn? I kicked your *** last time, and you weren't outnumbered like you are now. Last chance - stand down," Jason said.

"No one challenges the Romulan Star Empire! Close channel!" Hakeev commanded.

The channel cut out, and Jason's XO chuckled, "Smooth, Commander."

"Ah, you know Hakeev - easy to piss off and not to bright when he is pissed off," Jason replied. "Tactical, go Regenerative mode; Science, ready the Tachyon Inversion Beam. Borealis... feel free to start blasting apart Hakeev's ship."

"Rail guns, Missles or beam lasers, Captain? And would you like fries with that?" Rae asked.

"Always the joker, Rae." Tigress grumbled

"I dunno she's funny most of the time." Keri added her  '2 cents'

Borealis---------------------------------------------

"Argo, let's give our friends on the Warbird a shocking good time shall we?" Rae asked her AI companion.

"Shocking good time coming up." Argo saidas Borealis rail gun cannons instead, of firing solid slugs, fired two odd blue comet like  balls of energy from Particle Projectile Cannons blue tails flowing behind the projectiles as they flew towards the Warbird, the concentrated  comet like projectile  of ion's and protons would cause not only damage in the thermal range, but also kinetic, and cause a localized, but short lived EMP at the impact site.

The two ships engaged the Warbird, and with the firepower mounted on the ships, they had a serious advantage. Between the Tachyon Inversion Beam draining Hakeev's shields and the firepower of the Borealis and the Chimera combined, Hakeev's fight was short-lived. The ship warped away after taking semi-serious damage, and in it's place came another Romulan Warbird.

"This is Commander Temer of the Romulan Republic Warbird Freedom to the colonists of Virinat - I responded to your distress call as soon as I picked it up," came a Romulan voice on an open channel.

"Commander Temer, this is Commander Priznat - thanks for answering our distress call, but we seem to have things handled, now. You arrived too late to stop these... 'Elachi' from razing Virinat," Jason said.

Temer sighed, "That's not the first time I've heard something like that - and I fear it will not be the last. But, if it interests you, the Romulan Republic has a flotilla nearby - a safe haven of sorts, and if you're interested, you can join our struggle against the Tal Shiar and the Elachi."

Jason softly growled with a thoughtful look on his face, stroking his chin as though he had a beard. "Convenient," he murmured.

Kavin throws him an average number for the setting...

Alec looks over at Kavin and his tail twitches. "This guy is on the right track, I like him. I'm going to need to discuss some numbers too. I'll give you help till next port as a thanks for pulling my ass out of that mess, but anything after that and we're going to need to talk numbers." The ferret was obviously getting his energy back after the turbulent mess and he was looking for fun and profit.

"Enough," Jason said officiously. "Helm, I am assuming the Republic Warbird sent the coordinates for the flotilla - if that's the case, engage on course. Tactical, engage the cloaking device."

(If you read back a page or two, Possum, you'll see that the coordinates were, indeed, transmitted.)

Alec looked over and shrugged. "If you've got loads of money then that's fine for you. Ideals don't pay the bills or put food in your stomach. You can die with your ideals, kid, I'll live on my hard work." It was clear the ferret had no shame in requiring compensation. "Besides, I'm working maintenance till next port for free, that's my thanks. After that it's work, and I'm a professional, bud."

"I don't need anything fancy, if you've got something with proteins I should be good." The ferret nodded to the possum then looked from Jason to the tigress and then to the dragon. Alec wanted to defend himself, but not while the captain was around. It was always painful hearing the same old judgments being leveled against him. Alec was getting to the that moral horizon that many mercenaries hit, and that troubled him.

Jason headed for his private quarters on board the Chimera, where he opened the door and ushered everyone present inside. Inside was a very luxurious setting, with a king-size bed, brass-metal model starships and paintings of various settings hanging on the walls, and through a nearby doorway was the private kitchen and dining room.

"What'll it be, comrades?" Jason asked as he went for the kitchen.

Tigress handed Ale a MRE of Meatloaf and green beans. "Just add water." Tigress said pulling her own food out of the small MRE Bag  the fried chicken legs and wings were slowly growing thankfully the MRE included a instant tray as well.

The ferret looked down at it and kept his face neutral for a moment before he offered her a smile and took it politely. "Thanks, it's nice to know that we have generous folk like you around." There was no subtext to what he said, no sarcasm, but he was less than thrilled with the prospect of more barely edible quasi-food. When Alec arrived at the captain's cabin he looked around and was visibly shocked.

Setting the MRE down on the counter he shrugged to the tigress and gave her an apologetic look. Turning to to the captain he took a deep breath. "Like I said, anything with meat would be lovely. Real food if it's available.."

Alec raised his brows to Tigress and chuckled. "While I admire that you have high quality, advanced MRE's, they're still MRE's." The ferret turned to the captain and ruffled his headfur as he thought on it. "I haven't had rabbit stew in forever.. If you don't mind. I could always lend a hand."

Alec perked up hearing the drink selection he had and then his nose twitched. "One moment," the ferret bust into motion as he slipped into the kitchen and looked around. "Blood Grape Nectar you said? Where.." Once he either found it or was pointed to it he poured a glass. "Watch your hands," he quickly poured the glass into the rabbit stew then poured a glass for him to drink and resealed the bottle. "If this is the treatment I can expect I'd be more than happy to drop my rates," the ferret smiled playfully and snickered.

Jason went about cooking, wondering himself why the Elachi had deemed it prudent or necessary to attack Virinat. There was nothing there that warranted a military action of any kind. He popped a cola while the requested Rabbit Stew (forgive me if that's wrong, I have a bad memory) simmered. "Farming equipment... retired military personnel and farmers... easily-agitated local creatures... what use is any of that to the Elachi...?" he mused generally to himself before taking a sip of his cola.

Looking up to the others he caught himself back up on their conversation. "Well the one thing slaves are good for to powerful people is selling.
