Otebon and myself are going to lead an instruction guide on roleplaying here in the training grounds. It will be different than exclusively sparring but will include it. I am thinking that we will have a bit of social interaction, a bit of sparring, and some of what to do when you have idle time and need to fill at least three lines with fluff.
If anyone is interested in this please post here and we can get started. Happy roleplaying!

I think there will be no cap on the amount of people that will be allowed to train, but we have a good amount of people to begin now.
First, I would like to see an example of everyone's posting skills as of right now. Don't worry too much if you have no experience RPing there's always room to learn and expand your skills.
I'll start off by setting up a casual setting scene in a college-type cafeteria.
Jovi's stomach grumbled loudly signaling she was hungry for lunch and after her first two classes and an hour break she knew she had enough time to get to the cafeteria for some food. Walking into the school's cafeteria was a new experience since she was new to the campus and didn't really know too many people. It was bright under the fluorescent lighting and different species mingled about at the tables strewn across the room. She got in the lunch line and looked over the menu for something vegetarian friendly an found a boca burger that suited her needs.
This is a very short example of description in a casual setting. Please post your entrance to the cafeteria and perhaps mingling with others or getting in line to order food. Remember that you can go further into detail than I did above and describe more, as Otebon probably will. :)

{I'm going to be doing a combination of teaching and posting. Everything below the line is my next post, everything above the line is my "teaching" and suggestions}
What Jovi has done here is a perfectly good RP post. It's three lines, descriptive, and shows some sort of action. She walked into the cafeteria, got a burger, and looked around. It's usually "polite" to the author of an RP to write a minimum of three, descriptive lines. Try to emulate this.
She wrote in the third person. Also important...
In my post, I'm going to try to be an "almost over-descriptive" writer (like I normally am... sorry). As a side note, I use italics to denote either emphasis (a common literary technique) and internal thoughts. Try to determine which is which.
Otebon dry rubbed his hands dry after leaving the bathroom. Being in his senior year, teaching students was a bit of a requirement. Luckily, he was able to get a job in the Chemistry Department, so it was more fun than tedious.
Otebon loved chemicals.
Without much looking around, he went straight to the cafeteria line. It was burger day, so he got himself a double with bacon and went for the fries and sodas. Grabbing a Pepsi from the fridge and heading to the pay counters, he swiped his Student ID and paid for his meal with his Meal Points.
Otebon smiled when he did this. His friends back in the door routinely referred to the Meal Points as "Monopoly Money". It didn't exist and it didn't matter.
Coming out of the cafeteria, he went to go sit in his favorite spot without really paying much attention to what was going on around him. His chair was next to the window, giving him a great view of the soccer field outside, and he plopped his backpack down in the seat beside him.
First things first, Otebon thought to himself as he laid back and let the sun warm his dark grey and white fur. Some of the tougher species in here may make fun of him for it, but this Timber Wolf loved to bask in the sun.

Jacen walked down the hallway in his own ‘Jacen’ way. Anyone who sees him either says a weak ‘Hi…’ and flees or has already fled at his first sighting. His bullying is well known throughout the campus. All his friends just pretend to like him so he doesn’t turn them upside down for their lunch money. He knows, but doesn’t care. Even a couple of teachers are scared to death by his wild appearance. He always wears black leather jackets, his sharpened teeth shine in the school lights and numerous piercings cover his body.
A couple of minutes ago, he ‘received’ the lunch money of a small group of first years. Boy, they were scared. One even pied his pants. Jacen sniggers to himself at this memory, which turns a lot of scared heads towards him. He quickly counts the money (mathematics is both his favourite and the only subject he stands sufficient for)) and he arrives at a satisfying $32.30. He slowly walks towards the cafeteria, enjoying every terrified pair of eyes that turns towards him, smelling the fear of everyone that shuffles past. Walking towards the line, he notices numerous first and second year’s fleeing the line and out of his way. Older, more braver students keep in line, although some take a nervous look at him. ‘Mmm, shall I overtake the lot of them? Oh well, it’s just a short line, let them think they have won.’ he thinks, baring his teeth. ‘So, what’s on the menu today?’

My alarm went off, after 10 times of snoozing. shocked I jumped out of bed and quickly pulled my new clothes. I got those clothes from a new store, two blocks away from my home.
I grabbed my bag and ran down the stairs. without any breakfast I went to school on my bike. the wind was hard, the bike was difficult to use but I had to go to school. I already miss some of my classes. when I was on school I felt hungry. So I went to the cafeteria and go in the line.
{Is 3 lines the limed? and the story must be told in the past? sorry, I don't know these thing. }

To Cifero:
Any character you wish and whatever you wish. Obviously the setting is "college" so preferably something suited to that setting or has a good reason to be there. For example: I would NOT suggest using a 5-year old as... what reason does a 5-year old have to be on a college campus? Perhaps you are a 17-year old checking out the campus for next year? Visiting a family member? Old graduate? Professor? It doesn't matter what character you play, as long as they are believable and interact.

Its a great post, and don't worry about your gammar / spelling. It's wonderful. The only real mistake I saw was a misspelling as shown below.
To Beatnory:
Don't worry too much. You told a good story and had a great new outlook. You came in from a different perspective and introduced your character in a very interesting way. Try to check your spelling and grammar before posting (just a few mistakes, but they do make it hard to read).
3 lines is a general "minimum" that Authors like to have. It makes it easy to react to a three line post. Both the Author and whoever posts after you needs something to react to, and generally 3 lines gives MORE than enough to do so.
3rd Person past tense, talking about your character while not being the character, is the generally accepted fashion to RP. This means that you rarely use the word "I" and instead say things like "He", "[Name]", and "[Character Species]".
Also try to make your sentences flow and mix. The method of your post makes everything very choppy. Try to make it a conversation, a literary work that describes.

I like what I see so far! Otebon is faster at replying than I am at the moment, likely because he's on a computer. I think that after Cif and our 5th member posts we can move to a different scenario of socializing in the cafeteria. I know this sounds boring but it's important. Even in combat, super natural, or magic games you usually work as a team with at least one other player so communication is key.
When you want to say something you always want to at least put it in quotations. You can also color your text by either selecting the text and hitting the drop down menu on the posting tools menu bar, or you can type [color =colorhere]Speech, speech, speech here.[/ color] Without the spaces also. I had to space it to show up.
For example, when I play Jovi I have to type out my colored font because I use light blue. It matches her eyes. :P So I would type the above code but replace colorhere with lightblue, and the font color will turn out looking like this!
It's not necessary to do this though, but it makes it much easier for other players to distinguish your speech from your actions or description.
Sometimes in fun RPs you'll see people use the * to mark actions, like *noms on a cookie* that's fine and all in fun role plays, but isn't really used in serious roleplay. At least, it's not necessary to do so as long as you separate your speech from your text.

It was finally lunch time for Sig! The sea otter had an extra bounce in his step as he walked into the cafeteria for lunch. Normally he preferred eating outside in the sun, but today he felt like trying something different. As a commuter, Sig often prepared his own lunch and would carry it with him throughout the day in a cheap, plastic bag from a nearby supermarket. Although it cut down on his expenses, it did make for a less than satisfying meal.
With a quick glance around the cafeteria, it was easy to see that burgers were on the menu for today. His stomach growled and he could feel his mouth water at the thought of a well cooked cheeseburger, but soon felt disappointment as he remembered the small lunch he had prepared in the morning. However, Sig was resolved to stick with his budgeted meal and decided to skip the lunch line ruckus and seek out a table. All around him people were talking animatedly with one another and enjoying themselves. Sig wished he could join them, but imagined he would not be so welcome bursting in on someone's conversation. Walking back and forth between aisles, Sig continued looking for an isolated spot. However, almost every seat seemed to be taken and he noticed that his purposeless wandering was beginning to draw eyes. Perhaps deciding to eat in the cafeteria today was not a good decision.

Dirt slammed his locker closed and rubbed his brow. Dirt wasn't his real name of course, just a campus nickname. He didn't wash much, but reptiles don't sweat either. Dirt walked down the corridor, making extra effort to seem angry. This was a bad day. At least it was lunchtime. When Dirt entered the cafeteria, the line was short. He got in the line, and contemplated his order. He got a steak bun and sat next to Jovi, trying to make a new friend.

There is nothing necessarily wrong with your post, Dirt. You simply just said your own name a little bit more than you need to. I like how you ended your post staring that you were sitting next to me to make a new friend, because Jovi will say something. If you had encountered any of my other characters they may ignore you.
Now we can work on socializing. Let's pretend that Jovi and Dirt are sitting at a table by themselves, those that haven't found seats can come sit at that table too.
Jovi smiled softly as Dirt sat down next to her. It always made her a little uncomfortable when strangers sat next to her, but she felt like this guy posed no threat to her. "Hi," she said to the lizard, "My name's Jovi. Jovi Sparks, what's yours?"
This is another simple post with brief speech dialogue.

After a long wait in the line he ordered the day menu with a glass of Cocoa, This was his favorite drink. After a few steps he did heard a few voices from a table close to him. They said something like '...name's Jovi. Jovi Sparks, what's...'. Meanwhile he was listening to this conversation , he forgot to look where he is going and stumbled. He managed to save his food but the Cocoa fell over a table. Two people where sitting at this table. with a frightened face he looked at them and said “s..sh...sorry, I didn't want to.. It's all my fault”

Finally, after searching for what seemed like an eternity, Sig spotted a table with only two people at it and decided to take his chance before someone else did. He quickly walked over and pulled out a chair to sit down. It looked like someone else decided to sit down at the table as well. It was a good thing he saw this table when he did. Sig was sitting just across from the two who were conversing and placed his lunch on the table. With a quick nod and a muffled "Hello," Sig sat down and began to eat the sandwich he had packed. He doubted the three would want to talk to him, but could not help listening in on their conversation anyway.

'Bah... Only those disgusting bio-burger things today... Oh well, I can survive on that.' Jacen walks down the line of tabels, searching for an empty seat. Multiple other, but weaker, youngsters jump out of their chairs and leave the cafeteria in a hurry when they see him. Smiling at their faces, Jacen notices a table only occupied by a small number of other students, and heads over. 'Let's see some fear...' he quietly says to himself. When he arrives, he takes on of the seats, sits down, puts his dirty shoes on the tabel and gives every student at the tabel a quick, despising look as he loudly begins to eat his burgers. Not saying anything and pretending not to listen, he sits and eats, hoping that some fun can be had with these kids.

I'm going to start my "coaching" after Jovi's previous post. That way we have some continuity. If you wish me to reach back farther and "coach" your post, please just tell me and I'll be more than happy to.
To Beatnory:
Very good post. I especially like that you added in personal information as well as the action of the drink falling over. As a big writer and story-kinda guy, I love to see background and very internal information in a character. It makes your post more than just some words on a page; your character comes alive! Just make sure that you don't replace "," with "." as you did posted below. Other than that, wonderful post and great coloring for the speech (especially copying Jovi's colors for her words. That's worth bonus points).

To Sigcutio:
You had a very good post with no spelling or grammar errors that I could see. You also put in some very inferable personal information with your last line. That tells me, a reader that spends a lot of time thinking about characters, a good deal about who Sigcutio is. He's observant and he wants to join in. Your bolding of your speech is okay. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just unorthodox. The only problem I see is that you didn't react to Beatnory spilling Cocoa over everyone...
Can't just leave people out like that.
To Colio4:
You have a good post, once more making me kind of laugh as this tough guy named Jacen walks through the cafeteria, making the weaklings mess their pants. I would suggest that you double check your grammar before posting. There are a few mistakes that only people like me (grammar-Nazi's) would truly care about, but still. Also try to denote speaking by using quotation marks ("").
Also the same as Sigcution; don't leave Beatnory out of the action. He just spilled Cocoa over everyone and no one mentioned it.

First things first, you have a good post, story-wise. You tell a story and move the action along. My concerns are the length (it's very short) and the fact that your internal thoughts and speech are not separated from your post. As I read this, this is what I would have suggested writing.

He smiled nervously, but sat lower in his seat and began to eat. [Then add more about how you feel and what you're thinking about so that you have 3 lines of text.]
Otebon opened his eyes as he heard a series of disturbances in the cafeteria. First there was a series of people rapidly vacating their seats (the irritating sound that the chairs made as it was drawn across the ground made Otebon's ears twitch in pain) and then a younger Fox tripped and spilled his drink all over a table.
Otebon had to smile and stifle a laugh. Oh... to be young and uncoordinated again... He thought to himself as he turned to his meal.
Now that he had his eyes open, he could see Jacen. He'd been worried about the guy since he'd first met him. Otebon personally didn't care about Jacen, he went his way and Otebon tried his best to keep a healthy distance, but that didn't mean that he wouldn't step in if Jacen tried something with one of the students.
Otebon hated bullies...

(Sorry about missing that post Beatnory! I was rushed for time because I needed to eat dinner and just posted up what I had without editing that in XD )
In one moment, Sig was about to bite into his sandwich and in the next Beatnory's cocoa covered the table and dripped over the edges. Sig's pants were stained with cocoa as it poured over. With a sigh of resignation, Sig looked up at the others.
"Sorry, but does anyone have an extra napkin I could use?" he spoke with a sheepish grin on his face. Sig had hoped he could remain inconspicuous, but the chocolate stain had to be dealt with. As he looked up at the others, he noticed the one who had spilled his cocoa looked very shaken.
"Don't worry about the spill! It should be pretty easy to clean," he added hoping to reassure him. It also looked like another person had joined the table for lunch. He seemed very intimidating and his uncouth manner as he ate his burgers suggested that this was not a person Sig would be comfortable socializing with.
Well...I sure brought a lot of people to this table. So, who are you all? I'm Dirt. W-well, not really, but...that's what they call me.
"Nice to meet you Dirt," Sig replied distracted as searched around the table for napkins, "I'm Sig."

Beat was sitting on the table which was covered in cocoa because of his mistake. He did it again; he let himself be distracted again.

This reminds him of when he was little and went on holiday with his parents. they had rented a cottage in the Alps because his father liked bicycles.

Not self centered. It's great Beat. The only thing I have to comment on is your sentence structure. It's slightly off because of where you put your breaks, but it's not too terribly bad.
Also, Sig, good job at reacting to the spill and trying to reassure Beat that it's okay. I'll wait for more people to post to reply myself.
Dirt, you can use whatever color you want.
Also, it's cool that you guys are recognizing that other people are speaking in your own posts but it's optional to reiterate what the others have already said in your own post.

Dirt put down his lunch and turned to Jacen. "And who are you?" He sat up in his chair a bit and looked around the cafeteria. "Anything you can tell me about the school?

Jacen heard one of the furries gathered at the table ask him how he was. Ask! Him! These people must be new here. Hadn't EVERYONE heard about Jacen, the biggest and proudest bully on the campus??? He gave the furry a look, and said "Yeah, watch people like me. An' don't be such a newbie. Everyone can see your new, so don't tell us what we already know!!! Its a waste of our time. Thank you VERY MUCH.' And he turned his attention to his food again "God..." he thought, I know who is first on my steal-their-money-and-watch-them-grovel-list..."

Jovi had been sitting quietly, even throughout the cocoa incident. Only getting up so it missed her backpack. She grabbed the tuft of napkins she had gathered for her own lunch and started to clean up the table. It wasn't until she heard the mysterious figure speak that her attention was drawn to him,"Bullies aren't welcome at my table," she said to Jacen. The black mare stood up and put her hands on her hips. "I won't stand for it."
My post is beginning a conflict scene, it could go in several different directions at this point. It depends on how Jacen responds to Jovi.

Blizzard recognizes the mare, (Joli? No, Jovi!) from earlier encounters. Surely, she wouldn't recognize him: bullies are all the same to those who despise them. But he certainly knew her. Hadn't she stood up for that Raccon last week? He had been so surprised, that he had let go of the scared furry. That wouldn't happen this time. "Your tabel? I don't see your name anywhere missy. Go be a peace dove somewhere else, alright? I wouldn't want to hit a girl: its bad for the reputation, ya know?" Blizzard told her coldly.
(Funny, I'm not the bullying type at all! But playing a bully IS funny ;). Its different )

To Colio:
Although switching characters mid-RP is a pretty bad thing, don't worry about it here. Just try to keep them straight as it can really throw some people off. Other than that, it's a great post. You have story, internal action, and set up a history. Good job.
Otebon's ears perked when he heard the phrase "I wouldn't want to hit a girl". That was something he would never be okay with...
Placing what remained of his burger down, Otebon stood and went to find a vantage point near the table where he could watch and observe without too much effort. He would be the Horse's backup if she needed it. He wouldn't jump in and announce his presence unless it became necessary, but he would be there if something happened.

Sig noticed Jovi cleaning up the table with some napkins and grabbed some to clean off his jeans. So Beatnory was the one who had spilled the cocoa. He seemed eager to make up for his mistake and Sig couldn't blame him for his accident. Dirt didn't seem to think so either, but the person he had his suspicions of suddenly blurted disrespectful nonsense at Beat. Was this guy for real?
Sig felt like saying something, but the mare seemed to do it for him. She declared authoritatively that this person, Jacen, would not be allowed to sit here if he did not improve his attitude. Jacen, however, did not back down. This time he sputtered some offensive dribble and confirmed Sig's initial suspicions.
"You know it might be better for you to just move," he replied to Jacen, cautiously throwing himself into the growing tension.

Dirt shifted in his seat. Why do I always have to attract trouble? he thought. With a sigh, he rubbed his nose and flicked the last crumbs of his steak bun onto the floor. "I'll just be going to the bathroom, okay?" He eased out of his seat and scurried into the hall. But he didn't go to the bathroom. He sat and listened. He wanted to know how this would turn out.

"Ai, the crowd is turning upon me. Swell." Jacen thought, as he heard the other furry turning on him. But, at the same time, he saw the annoying furry that had caused all this trouble stand, mumble some excuse, and walk away quickly from the table. "Relax everyone," Jacen said, "the problem has solved itself. Now, we all finish our food, you all head of to whichever classes you have, and then my second problem is solved as well. Get it?"

There was a strange atmosphere arround the table where Beat was sitting. It was like the hole world had stopped moving and the only thing happend at the table was still moving.
For some reason Jacen was a bit irritated about something. Probably because of Beatnory's drink. Maby it is the best to leave this table and go to somewhere else.
So he said "I think I go to get a new drink. Maby later". He took his food on and stood up.

The story is building nicely and there is little to say about how to construct and move the story forward from this point. From what I've seen, you all have a good grasp that every time you write, you have to contribute in some small way to the action in a minor fashion. Good job everyone.
My thoughts for improvement are also rather over-said. Watch your grammar and spelling. Things like the below aren't big (in fact, only grammar nazi's like me really read it AND get annoyed by it), but it will help you to become a better writer if you pay attention to mistakes like this.

As for me... at this point in the RP, I would probably post, but it would be fluff. Just watching and observing. So instead, I'm going to do something that you should be able to do in most RPs. Assuming that anything in parentheses are considered in the OOC thread for this training session.

Jovi slammed her fists down onto the table. "Clearly YOU are the problem here. Everyone was eating peacefully until you came over, and scared people away. I said MOVE ON." Jovi said angrily to Jacen. Her nostrils flaring and facial expression showing clear disgust.

Before Beat had make his first step to the line he heard a shout behind from him. It was clearly from Jovi but what's happening there.
For a few second he was thinking. Thinking about what he should do. It was a short moment but It feels like it take forever.
but eventually he decided to leave.

The atmosphere suddenly felt tense and uncomfortable. This was not what Sig had come into the cafeteria for. With a blank expression, Sig slouched in his chair as Jovi roared at Jacen. He felt it would make things more awkward if he just ignored the two and started eating his lunch so he simply sat. He noticed other people beginning to leave and was felt slightly relieved that he wasn't the only one who felt the situation had gone out of hand. Hopefully things would settle down....right?

Good posts you two. I can see where your reactions would be thought well of in this type of RP and they are really very well written and would even be expected based on the characters that you've chosen. I have no qualms beyond grammar checks that I'd like to share. You guys are getting good!
Now though, I'd like to be the proverbial "fly in the ointment" and "start something". This way, we can get a little more... harsh... in the interaction.
Otebon had heard enough. He left his little observation position and approached the table so that he ended up behind Jacen.
"Why don't you come with me Jacen," Otebon said softly as he laid a hand on the big guy's shoulder. "It'll be better for everyone involved if you just go and eat your lunch somewhere else."
Otebon's hand grabbed onto Jacen's shirt and pulled lightly to get him moving.
"Come on big guy, let's go."

"Oke... That was rather ...unsuspected." Jacen hadn't realized that the mare was in such a bad mood. Monthly period? He... didn't really dare asking. But, he couldn't back out now. That would be a clear sign of weakness. He looked through the cantine. The fight had already drawn a lot of attention. A lot of furries were watching the spectacle at this table. He turned to Jovi again, who was still watching him with an angry glare. And now some other guy, one that had stood watching from a distance during the fight, now came forward and asked him to leave as well. At least this guy didn't yell at him, but leaving the fight would mean a BIG loss of reputation. He turned around and gave the guy a push to get his hands off him. "Thanks mate, but I'd rather stay. I like it here." He turned back to the Jovi. "And you, SHUT.... UP... Or do you want your long face to get screwed up?" Jacen knew he might have taken it to far know, but didn't back down. He readied himself for whatever would come, grining his sharp teeth bare for no other reason than to give himself confidence.

This was getting out of hand. Jacen was handling the situation very poorly and judging by the look on Jovi's face and the way the other person approached him, things were going to get violent. The whole situation was just stupid. All Sig wanted was to eat his lunch in peace and suddenly it turned into a whole fiasco. It was pointless to reason with Jacen, so Sig sat in silence. With an interested gaze in his eyes, he stared out away from all the commotion. At least this way he would not be noticed.

That is actually a fantastic question Beatnory. Usually, in an RP, there will be some sort of order. There are two general types of orders and one that isn't common, but I've seen work before.
The two common types are referred to as either Wave or Ordered. Ordered posting is when everyone is assigned a position to post in and the order is followed. An example of this would be Jovi, then Colio, then Sig, then you, then Me, then... if you get the idea. Jovi will always post first, then Colio, then Sig, and so on and so forth without variation. The other type is Wave where there is no posting order except that you are only allowed to post once per "round". The round is started when Jovi posts and a new round will begin whenever she posts again. Your job in a wave post is to make sure that you post before Jovi posts that second time.
The third structure I've seen is a split wave post where everyone is assigned to a specific leader and they wave post with them in the same thread. It's awkward, but it works with a good bit of effort from the RP leader.
Here however, we don't really have a post order, so you don't have to worry about it.
Otebon had expected getting pushed or shoved. He'd been trained for combat a long time ago and he was fully aware that 99.9% of fights featuring an untrained fighter began that way.
Otebon let himself stumble away and allowed his opponent to turn back to Jovi, presenting his back to Otebon. He continued to berate her and Otebon smiled to himself. Thank you.
A few quick steps brought his up behind Jacen and a quick movement of the hands brought his right hand around Jacen's throat from behind while his left hand went under Jacen's left shoulder. Otebon shoved his right side into Jacen's spine to present no target for flying elbows and kicked out the back of Jacen's knees.
He was hoping the big guy would fall over and Otebon could get him into some sort of submission hold, but Jacen was quite a big guy...

Jacen HAD expected an attack, but not with this speed or style. What was this guy? Some kind of kung-fu fighter? After the last kick, he was able to keep on his feet, though barely. He could barely breath from the hit in his neck, and his shoulder hurt like hell. Instinctively, he turned around, grabbing his still half full plate and trew it towards Otebon. Then, while the plate was still soaring through the air, he grabbed his chair and flinged it towards the kung-fu 'hero' as well. He quickly readied himself for whatever was coming, this time also watching he back against other assailants, fists raised in street fighter style position. "So, he thinks I can't fight hmmm? I'll show him!!!"

Beatnory want to go away but he couldn't. All around where people watching the fight between Otebon and Jacen. Some of them look shocked others where yelling.
Normally he didn't like fighting, but this time it feel diffrent. Maby because Jacen was finally punished for all his actions. He shook the thoughts away. fighting is wrong.
He saw a few teachers arrive, they did not look very happy. They were 2 men and 1 woman. One of the teachers he knew, It was the English teacher.
The teacher was always nagging. Beat hate him so much.
the teachers where going to the fighters. Some of the people around where running away.
Maby it was better to do the same was beatnory thinking.

Dirt noticed the fighting in the cafeteria and used it as a distraction. He slipped around the doorframe where he was hiding and hugged the wall to his seat. He moved deliberately, taking care not to attract attention. Dirt slipped into his seat and let out a pent-up breath. "Here's hoping nobody noticed," he thought.

(Not really Beatnory. I haven't been posting because, in the realm of story posts, I was one of the most previous. I guess I could post again and pretend like we've waited long enough and the round is now skipping. However, unless you are given permission to control events like having other characters under no one's control arrive on scene, then I would avoid doing it. If you aren't the author, you can cause more problems like that and change the story beyond what the author desires.)
Otebon ducked and covered his head when the plate flew at him. It still hit him on the arm, and it hurt, but he'd live through it.
As he got out of his defensive stance, he saw that Dr. Kovish, one of the English professors, as well as Dr.s Mora and Leana from the Chemistry department had arrived on scene. Otebon knew each of them fairly well (especially the Chemistry professors), but now was not the time to continue the fight.
Otebon dropped his arms and backed off from Jacen a little bit. He said nothing, seeing if Jacen would get the idea to leave on his own or if he'd push the fight and get everyone involved into serious trouble.

Colio posted that he'd be away for a few weeks on the temporary board so I'm not sure what we should do about this fight scene. We can divert the scene away to something else and break it up, what do you say Otebon? Others?

Personally... as this is training and the situation has changed, I'm fine with changing and think it may be a better idea anyways as it would get a larger participation base.

Welcome to Jordan College of War. You've been accepted into our prestigious fighting school, but first we have to determine what skills you do you. Choose your opponent and step into the ring. Weapons are allowed!
Give it your all and don't stop until your told!
Jovi and I will be running "instructors" in combat situations. Because I'm obsessed with Hand-to-Hand and older styles of combat, this is a medieval / renaissance style combat. Anything you can think of up to a steampunk style of weapon is acceptable (this means firearms are okay, but not machine guns... single shots then reloads).
*As I don't know what characters Jovi wants to run, I'll leave those open ended for her to fill when she gets the chance.
*Once more, no app is needed, just start writing.
Otebon walked forward and looked at the new recruits.
"Good morning," he said, not expecting or allowing a response. "Today is Proving day. Although we, the instructors of Jordan College, don't expect that you can land a blow on us that doesn't mean that you shouldn't try. Give us your all and we'll deal with the grading. I'll be over there," he said as he pointed off to one of the large circular arenas. "Pick your instructor for your 1 on 1 test. Dismissed."
Otebon turned and went to the large circle marked out on the ground a short distance away. Once there he drew his sword and laid the simple scabbard to the side.
The other instructors were already in their circles and ready to receive students.
Lucas was sitting cross-legged in his circle(the one farthest to the left) with his spear laid across his knees. The moderately built German Shepherd was speaking to an Artic Fox, Mistress Althea, with her thin dueling blade held lightly in her left hand. Next to those two, Master Caelum (nicknamed "the Bull" for his species and his fighting style) stood in the exact center of his circle with a large shield and a heavy sword held firmly, but in a relaxed way, to his side.
Your choices are as follows...
Otebon (Timber Wolf, Western long sword)
Lucas (German Shepherd, Spear)
Althea (Artic Fox, Chinese Dueling blade)
Caelum (Ox, sword and shield)
And whatever Jovi puts forward (unless she wants control of one of mine).

Jovi stood behind Otebon with her arms crossed over her chest, her tail hanging idly behind her. "You may refer to us as the masters. As Master Albrecht said, please choose your opponent." She walked over to Otebon and sat down next to him to watch the newest recruits.
So note that I don't have a whole lot to do with Jovi right now, she's going to have the same role as Otebon, which is the grader. For this exercise and this exercise alone I am going to be bringing two of my retired characters out of the woodwork because they were fun to fight with.
Here is my list for you to choose from:
Katayida (RETIRED CHARACTER)- Female Horse, Staff
Creature (RETIRED CHARACTER)- Male Western Dragon, Double Sided Axe
Bones- Brass Knuckles- Male, Wolf/Gryphon/Unicorn.

Craw shifted his cloak around him. His weapon was his armour- a cloak from an exotic land, the hem lined with razor blades. The bird shifted his gaze around the circle. "I'll take the white vixen." He says, following with an angry caw as he stands up and stalks into the ring.
"Will you dance with me?"
He ruffles his tawny feathers in anticipation. Was his challenge too bold? Was he even ready to face her? Craw didn't like looking like a fool. Whatever. What happens happens. he thought. It was time to fight.

Jack rushed to the Proving room, panting hard. Darn alarm clock! he thought to himself as he ran into the room, panting. "Sorry," he said. "My... my alarm didn't go off..." He looked around. "Ok... um... I'm supposed to fight one of you or something?"

"Okay... um..." Jack looked between the choices he had left, skipping over the white fox. Finally, his eyes rested on Holly, who fought with daggers like he did. "Seems appropriate," he said to himself, walking up to her and bowing deeply. "Shall we, madam?" he asked, looking up at her from his bowed position.

"Oh come on Lucas," Althea said while laughing. "One little smile! For the students!" She noticed that one of those students had just approached her. She turned to face him with a wide smile and a sweep of her fluffy tail.
"Why of course I'd love to dance with you," She said as she made a soft curtsy to the Bird. She flourished her blade to fit her curtsy and flicked it into a ready position. "Let's begin shall we?"
Holding her blade in her left hand still she lept forward, blade extended, and aimed for the student's left knee.
The combat has commenced. I'll try to write as clearly as possible so that you know what's going on. For reference, this is Althea's blade. It's called a "Jian", but I don't think that's a common name... (My character's name is Craw, and he is a hunting falcon. Sorry I wasn't clearer earlier, but there didn't seem to be a good spot to explain.)
Craw saw the blade flick towards his knee, and neatly sidestepped it. He wanted to get a feel for her attacks first, but she was waiting for him to attack. He stepped just out of reach of her sword, and whipped his cloak at her face. He followed up with a short kick, talons extended, at her shins.
Am I supposed to harm her? he wondered. It didn't seem right for a training bout, but he didn't have much of a choice.

Althea ducked away from the strange bladed cloak and spun away from the kick. To do this, her body seemed to contort into an impossible-to-balance-from position in constant motion. While never ceasing her own movements, her blade was brought across her own body, flat so that it could defend in her strange repositioning move, before flicking out in a horizontal slash just at shoulder level. The sound of the blade moving through the air could be heard.

Beatnory Was facing to a ox who has a sword. He's name was Caelum.
Nothing was happening; they just look to each other. While they where standing there Beat was thinking about the reason of doing this. The reason why he was in this class.
He did see a lot of bad people. They where only thinking about themselves and don't care is someone else has pain. He want to do something about that.
After a while they still where standing there. Beat know that he must make the first move.
So He grip his sword and hit Caelum on his right head.

(Caelum is a male Ox. Also, make sure to watch your grammar and how you type. You seem to be slipping a bit into what you were writing towards the beginning of this training system. Your tense agreements are a tad off and it becomes difficult to read. Make sure to take in context clues too as in what gender Caelum is by his description earlier.)

Caelum let the student approach and stand there awkwardly. He was always one of the more silent instructors and didn't enjoy long discussions or mid-combat banter like Mistress Althea.
When Beat moved, Caelum adjusted slightly to bring his broad sword in line with the strike. He angled it so that Beat's blade would deflect down and away from his body, giving Caelum some time to take a step back and lift his shield into position. It was large enough to cover his arm and a good portion of his chest and arm. A veritable wall to attacks.
Caelum retaliated with a low swipe at Beat's legs.

Caelum waved his sword to Beat's leg. Before He can hit the lag, Beat was jumping up.
When Beat was on the highest point he threw himself backwards so there was more distance between him and Caelu. Direct when he hit the ground he runs to Caelumwith with his sword directed on Caelumwit.

Craw leaned away from the thrusting sword, off balance from the stunning counter. She's fast! He squawked and ducked, sweeping his bladed cloak low towards Althea's legs.

It's alright, just try to make sure that you edit well and preview your materials. You are still having some issues with spelling, but your grammar is much better.

Caelum moved slightly to put the center of his shield in the way of Beat's sword and felt the impact strike his arm. Beat's blade deflected slightly as the curvature of the shield angled the tip away from him. Caelum took a step forward and brought his sword down in an overhead cut. If Beat didn't move, it would come down right on his head.
"You're fun!" Althea laughed as she danced backwards away from the cloak. "You know... I've always admired your weapon. It's so interesting. I've only seen one like it."
Althea flourished her blade and returned to a "neutral" pose, legs together and blade held pointed towards her opponent. That lasted for only a moment though as she literally leaped back in with three quick jabs to Craw's stomach.

Craw squawked in anger as the sword entered his stomach. Not fatal, but it sure stung. He stepped back and launched himself into the air, circling a bit to regain his composure. Without warning, he stopped flying and whipped his cape down in a vicious drop attack, straight towards the back of Althea's head.

Althea stopped the pressure on her attack as soon as she felt her blade pierce flesh. Sure it was necessary to cause pain so that the students learned (or so the more hardline Masters thought...) but she didn't want to have to send this one to the infirmary! She let Craw retreat to the air, putting a hand to her brow to follow his path. His sudden dive caught her slightly off-balance though.
She ducked and stuck her blade up in an effort to block the blades hidden in the fabric. Unfortunately, the fluid nature of the cloak caused the weapon to wrap around her hand and slice her as Craw finished his attack. It wasn't debilitating, but it would hurt.
From the ground, Althea stayed low and kicked out with both feet towards Craw. She hoped to kick the Hawk off-balance while putting herself flat on the ground, face up.

Jack moved back slightly, drawing his own daggers. "Don't I get a chance to draw my weapons first, madam?" he said, barely blocking the strike in time.

The kick caught him in the shins, but Craw managed to land on turn his trip into a forward roll. Unfortunately, the blades of his cloak scraped his shoulder and threw him to the side. He sprung up, disoriented, and brought his cloak in close, wrapping a fold around his wingtip. Then he lunged forward, snapping the cloak up at the fox's sword arm.

Being prone (and on your back no less) was normally a bad thing for a fighter, but Althea had made it a point to learn how to use this to her advantage. She whipped her sword in front of her to defend herself. Turned out it was just in time as the cruelly bladed cloak shot down at her once more. But then... Althea had a thought.
She turned her hand palm down and spun her sword around to tangle the cloak as it went for her hand. Now with the cloak around her sword arm and the back of her hand protected by her small gauntlet, she rolled backwards dragging the cloak with her. Standing tall, Althea gave another great heave.

Craw should have been expecting this, as any basically intelligent opponent would realize it sooner or later, but he was so wrapped up in combat that he didn't realize his position until it was too late. He lurched to the floor, and stumbled along several feet before becoming to hopelessly entangled in his own weapon. Craw thrashed or a few moments before settling, defeated. "You...you have...have bested me. I see that I have...much to learn now." He closed his eyes and caught his breath. "But can you let me go now?"

Holly landed in a crouched position in front of her student, "A good fighter never needs an invitation to draw their weapons." She sprung back and hissed exposing her large canine teeth, "come at me! This fight can't be one sided, and you did choose to fight a girl with power." She stood still ears and eyes focused on the student in front of her waiting for his first attack.
(What did I know? That was just my first attack?)
Alright Cif, I gave you something to work with here, standard fighting Holly you're dealing with here. What species are you playing with right now? Also, try to give at least 3 lines.

Jack threw away the doubts that had filled his mind and simply smiled at the panthress. "Well, you are my superior. I was not sure whether or not to... eh, never mind, let's just fight." Dashing forward, Jack took a quick stab at her arm to throw her off, then spun rapidly towards her, one foot out in an attempt to trip her up as he simultaneously faked a double-stab at her head.

Althea laughed. "Of course I will."
She bent down and carefully did just that. She helped him get out of his own tangled weapon.
"Good show," Otebon said from his circle. "With such a strange weapon your talent has to be very great to even expect to win against an average opponent."
"Oh don't listen to him," Althea said as she continued to work. "Wanna go again?"

The two swords are finally started to dance was Beatnory Thinking while he dodged the sword of his opponent.
Caelum, or beter know as the Bull, was quite dangerous. Beat has to act quickly or otherwise he will die.
Once Caelum didn't swing he's sword anymore Beat went immediately on the attack and he shouted "We need a name for the afterlife"

Letting the blade carry through the strike and hit nothing but air, Caelum smiled at Beat. "I believe that's already covered child," the Ox's gravelly voice said behind his shield.
Squaring up to his student Caelum lived up to his name. He dropped his head and made a quick dash towards Beat.

The ground was vibrate by the movement of the ox. Beat was fast so he could dodge the attack.
Caelum has an incredible power and Beat doesn't. The only reason why he still was alive is because of his speed.
"I must devise a plan, he must surely have a weak spot" was Beat thinking. With his shining sword in his hands, he brandished it towards Caelum.

Stopping at the edge of their, comparitively, small ring Caelum turned and faced his opponent again. He didn't give Beat time to complete his thoughts however. He quickly charged back in with a basic 3-strike combination. His sword flashed forward with a low stab, a jab with his shield, and a heavy cut from his sword. Caelum's advance did not slow one bit.

Bear was screaming. The sword of Caelum did hit Beat on his left arm. luckily it was not deep but there was blood and it hurts a lot.
He must be more careful the next time it may be too late. He went a bit backwards and he prepared himself for the attack of Caelum.

"Well, I 'd love to have a rematch, but I need some time to recover. After all, fighting me in my current state would hardly be fair!" Craw laughed, but it turned into a quiet cough. "I'll just sit out a while."

Caelum checked his strike to ensure it didn't do too much damage. Master Albrecht had said to wound, not injure (as though that made a difference...).
"You've gotta attack if you want to win," Caelum said as he took another large stride forward. He was pushing Beat around the ring, trying to force him off balance and into a poor position. He charged once more, shield held in front of him like a ram.

Fow a while beat was avoiding the attact of Caelum. he waited for the right moment. His only advantage was his speed. He knew that he had to use it.
when attact was not completely focused, Beat went in the attack. Quickly with his sword, he swings left and right and left again and so on.

Caelum ended up chasing Beat around the ring as he tried to keep Beat within his reach. Caelum continued to advance and take experimental swings at Beat until evnentually the student began to strike back.
Beat began to swing left and right at Caelum and for the first time Caelum stopped advancing so strongly. Using a combination of his sword and shield he blocked and avoided Beat's sword. Once he began to get a rhythm of Beat's strikes, Caelum slowly restarted his advance. He led with his shield.

Caelum could defensible him self, but if you look his face you would swear that he had a hard time. But then, the attracts of Beatnory become weaker. he was tired.
He knew he couldn't do this for long, he had to do something, something fast.
He stopped the attacks and immediately he turned around Caelum. Now beat was standing at the back of Caelum. This was the only place where was no shield.
you can call it cowardly to attack from behind. But Beat knew that this was the only way.
he swung his sword at Caelum back.

Holly grunted gruffly when her student was unsure of what to do. "This is a fighting scenario boy, your tryouts if-you-will. You fight with everything you've got, but remember it's just a spar. We're not trying to kill each other." With that Jack took a stab at her arm that she just backed away from to dodge, "Please tell me you've got more than that!" He started spinning forward towards her, which confused her, it was certainly a move she had never seen before. The panther lowered her stance and flipped both of her daggers forward as he was coming at her, and then he did something she wasn't expecting by coming at her head. She did a back bend just barely able to get low enough to dodge the attack, and then fell to the ground catching herself with her arms and rolling to her left to do a sweep kick attack at Jack's legs.

With such a large shield and stationary method of fighting, Caelum could only really watch as Beat rolled around him. He turned his head to watch his smaller opponent. He couldn't do much except hope that his thick leather armor protected his now vulnerable back.
The slice etched his armor, but didn't do much real damage. Caelum couldn't do much as he wouldn't be able to turn quickly enough to face back to Beat. He started to move away from Beat while trying to turn and face him. He angled his shield to start getting some form of protection in line.

Caelum was trying to get away. For a second beat was surprised that he had done something like this.
But he knew that this was his only change so he went right on to action. He ran to Caelum with his swordt ready to strike.

Turning ponderously, Caelum was able to guard about half his open side with his shield, but he could see that running was going nowhere, so he had to change his tactics a bit. He planted one hoof and rolled the other as he leaned his shoulder towards Beat. With a quick lurch, Caelum pushed into a shoulder rush that would either strike Beat or carry him to where he could regain his squared-off positioning.

Caelum did hit Beatnory. Beat didn´t expect this at all. He lost his balance and fell backwards.
His sword fell beside him. he grabbed his sword as quickly as possible. Hopefully in time.

Caelum got his feet under him again and got his shield into position to stand a chance at defending himself again. When he saw that Beat's sword had been knocked from his grasp, he took a step back and let Beat have some time to regain his feet.

"Thank you, why did you do this?" Meanwhile he pointed his sword on Caelum.

"In combat," Caelum replied quickly as he lifted his sword and assumed his fighting stance. "Never show mercy or allow your opponent a respite. However, this is training. You learn nothing by being stomped into the dirt. Attack."

He just allowed Beat to crowd himself before he pushed his shield forward. To increase the push, Caelum stepped forward once and put his shoulder behind it.

You're welcome to join in, although this was meant to be a more hand to hand training for people to learn how to do a fight in an RP (weapons included). If you'd like, then go back a page or two to take an instructor that hasn't been chosen already and just start writing.

It didn't work. Caelum was still standing at the same place. Beat stopped his attract so he could breathe for a moment.
he was wounded at his arm and he was getting even more tired. He had not much hope anymore.
But then he grabbed his sword firmly and he look to Caelum with courage in his eyes. He must give everything.
He took up his sword and went full speed down. right to Caelums head.
(You probably notice that I did not have much fighting experience)

Caelum could see that his opponent was getting exhausted. His strikes were getting slower, his strength was draining, and he was losing his maneuverability. Beat's next attack was to come straight down on Caelum's head. So he lifted his shield and let the strike fall upon it as he moved his sword out to rest on Beat's stomach.
Otebon began to clap. "Good show Beat! Fantastic effort. You gave it your all and not many can get the Bull to retreat. Nice move by finding his backside."
(Don't worry about it too much. I just love writing and fighting, so I know a lot of how to do this and how to write about it. It's all in good fun!)

Beat heart from the Conner of the room somebody capping. It came from Otebo, one of the trainers. This gave Beat self-confidence, he felt much better.
The shield of his opponent was by his head. therefore he could not see well.

Beat's sword struck out at Caelum's legs and bit heavily. Caelum's left leg crumpled underneath him as the blood welled from his cut and he went to a knee. He dropped his shield to his side as well as withdrawing his sword from Beat's stomach. It quickly returned though with the flat of the blade and with enough force to throw Beat a few feet to the side.
"Nice strike child," Caelum said through gritted teeth. "I can't blame you for continuing the fight. I let my guard down."
Otebon walked over and began pulling out bandages. "Yep. I think this one is over as well. You okay Beat?"

Beat went directly to the ground. He was out of breath. eventually he came up with the words "Yes I'm okay.Caelum your good, to good for me".

(Okay! Let's see... I'll use my character Blizzard, a Husky, with as weapons his pair of hidden blades. Can I battle Lucas? Let's see what happens against a spear wielder :))
Blizzard walked forward while, without noticing it himself, slowly opening and closing his hands, which slid his blades in and out of their holders. He quickly gazed over the masters assembled, then choosing the spearwielder. He bowed to master Lucas. "Master, would you like to spar?" he said, not making the mistake of looking away.

Lucas had been following Althea's bout with some interest, until Blizzard walked forward. He planted the butt of his spear in the dirt and stood.
"Absolutely."
Lucas made a short bow and flipped his spear into a ready stance. Without waiting for a sign of readiness or much else, Lucas began with a few quick jabs of his spear at Blizzard's chest.

Blizzard had suspected such an attack, but was still pushed in defense, dodging the fast stabs. One of the stabs came inches from his belly. Now it was his turn. He fainted a stab to Lucas his neck, then quickly jumped to his right, slicing with his other blade to Lucas legs.

Lucas knew that to fight someone with such small and quick weapons, his true defenses were speed and distance. He brought his spear in close and brought it perpendicular to the ground and point down to swipe nearby to give himself a bit of a shield as he quick stepped to keep Blizzard in front of him. Instead of dodging to the right as would most opponents (so that a circular flow would begin as both opponents moved counter-clockwise), he stepped left and kept Blizzard in front of him. Keeping the momentum of the spear as it traveled, Lucas whipped it around his head at full length and about shoulder height. Either Blizzard would get out of the way or would get a big stick to the side of the head.
It was definitely a "get away" move and Lucas put some force behind it.

Blizzard hadn't expected this move. His slice went wide, and it was all he could do not to be hit with a spear against his head. His hidden blades were amazingly fast weapons, but blocking was a lot harder than with normal daggers or swords. Then, in those few seconds he had before the hit, he got an idea. A crazy, almost insame, idea. Without thinking more about the possibilities, he trew himself forward, towards Lucas, blades at the ready. Spears, he knew, were great and lethal weapons from a distance, but were just clumsy sticks in closer combat. He just hoped to surprise Lucas with his move, otherwise...

Holly grunted gruffly when her student was unsure of what to do. "This is a fighting scenario boy, your tryouts if-you-will. You fight with everything you've got, but remember it's just a spar. We're not trying to kill each other." With that Jack took a stab at her arm that she just backed away from to dodge, "Please tell me you've got more than that!" He started spinning forward towards her, which confused her, it was certainly a move she had never seen before. The panther lowered her stance and flipped both of her daggers forward as he was coming at her, and then he did something she wasn't expecting by coming at her head. She did a back bend just barely able to get low enough to dodge the attack, and then fell to the ground catching herself with her arms and rolling to her left to do a sweep kick attack at Jack's legs.
(Good choice... as a Martial Artist and actually having been trained in both spear AND knife fighting, it's easy to know exactly where you want to be in your position. You, with the smaller, faster blades, want to grab Lucas by the belt-buckle and never let go; figuratively. He succeeds at range, but if he can't keep you away... it's a lot harder. Granted, there are counters for it too.)
Getting in close upset the sweep that Lucas planned to do, making the his wrist connect with Blizzard as opposed to the shaft of the spear. Lucas pulled back the power on his move though as this was training and he didn't wish to hurt Blizzard too much, but he knew that he was in trouble as well.
He let the shaft slide through his hands so that he held his spear a little closer to middle than he had previously, going to a shorter grip and retreated. There was nothing else for it but to try and make the space up that he'd lost with Blizzard's charge. As he did so, he kicked out at Blizzard to keep him occupied and bothered.

He wasn't really surprised this time by Lucas retreating move. He kept coming, slicing a couple of near hits. What did surprise him was that his opponent kicked at him. The kick hit him frontal in his belly, and he had to gasp for air for some precious seconds. In this short time, Lucas had managed to get some distance between the two of them. Blizzard ran forward, desperate to close the gap between the two of them again, blades at the ready, for this was the only way to defeat his spear wielding opponent.
(Hey, just a small question, in a battle against another furry, how do you decide an outcome? I imagine that most of the times, both would want to win. I don't really need to win a battle, but a victory is always better than a defeat. How do you roleplaying furries solve this??? :?)

(Usually, in an RP, there is a set way to decide who wins. Sometimes it's done by a random number generator, arbitrated by the Author, or decided out side of RP for story reasons. An example of each is that I was once in an RP where a dice-roller program run by the Author was used to determine everything and there were somewhat intricate rules to decided what constituted a win and a loss and for every "win" one person got took away one "health" of the opponent until one of the competitors had no "health" left. In another RP, the Author decided who would win based off the style and ability of writing employed; whoever wrote the best won. In a story I watched being written through Google Documents, the outcome of the fight was predetermined so that a story could take place.
Any of these are good and common and are decided on by the Author. Hopefully you won't do much PvP (player vs. player) as these are usually situations that may cause ill feelings between players, but sometimes it can be great fun. For the moment, let's assume that we're using the second method.)
With his shorter grip, Lucas had a lot less breathing room, but then again he wouldn't need to be able to extend his arms in this fight. With a combatant more than willing to come within reach, he needed to be able to move more than anything.
Lucas twirled his spear in a figure eight at his sides, letting the spear head whistle as it sliced the air as he settled into a more defensive stance.

Blizzard wasn't sure what to do with the new tactic of Lucas. He jumped left, the right, then left again to find a way through Lucas defense. There wasn't. This annoyed Blizzard a lot. He faked a left trust, then a right, but in the end went straight towards Lucas, blades forward to connect with his chest.

The spin was working as intended, it left no good opening for the small blades of Blizzard, but there was a problem with it: spinning the spear was tiring. It took a vast amount of energy to keep the spear moving as Blizzard was able to leisurely (comparatively) find an opening. When he couldn't find a way around or over, he tried to go through.
Lucas gave his spear a push to give it some strength to knock away the blades as he leaned back away from the blades. The spear was kept in constant motion and brought around to strike from Lucas' right shoulder at Blizzard's left.

The spear swung through the air and hit Blizzards shoulder. He was trown to the ground. He rolled up onto his right and not hurting shoulder and turned towards Lucas again, blades at the ready. "Slow, Blizzard, and relax. Don't get angry, it will only help him..." Blizzard td himself as he slowly began to circle his opponent.

Now that Lucas had the space he needed, he let the spear point drop till it was level with Blizzard's hips. Lucas held it lightly and followed the circling motion. He knew that it was a stalling tactic and a trap that far too many fell into, but it did give him the opportunity to rest his shoulders from the spinning.
Planting his feet securely, Lucas took the back end of the spear and moved it quickly. Under his direction, the head of the spear seemed to jerk around in a dizzying pattern before lurching towards Blizzard's central mass.

Blizzard was slightly confused by the strange pattern the spear made. The stab towards his chest came as somewhat of a surprise, and he tried to sidestep it. He succeeded partly. He just wasn't fast enough. The speartip hit a piece of flesh just underneath his right shoulder, and went partly in before being retracted quickly. Pain followed swiftly. Blizzard let out an involuntary yell as it washed over him, making it hard for him to think and stand. He fell to his knees, one of his hands covering the gap and stopping the blood from flowing. He managed to gasp: "Okay, you win, I'm out." He tried to think straight but only partly succeeded. It wasn't a lethal wound if it was bandaged soon, but could have been if Lucas had let himself go and stabbed fully. "Well," Blizzard thought with a wry smile, " lucky this was just a training..."

As soon as Blizzard's knees hit the floor and said that he'd one, Lucas dropped the spear and ran to plug up the wound.
"You fought well," he said. "It's just difficult to fight against the polar opposite."
Alright... As I have finished a few sparring bouts with people (I believe Jovi and Cif may still be fighting), I want to say that everyone I fought with was really good. I apologize for God-modding my characters a little so that the fights could keep going and stay in my favor (:$) as well as using my real life knowledge (was a world-champ competitor level fighter for weapons and hand-to-hand :$) in the fights, but I hope that it kept things interesting.
Everyone wrote very well and did things very efficiently. Good show everyone.
Jovi is my co-worker here, so I don't make all the decisions, but I imagine that is pretty much the highlights of what we could show you so that you rock any Serious RPs you deem interesting. Writing a story may be difficult, but you certainly have the abilities.
Work on your English, grammar, and spelling in general and you guys should be fine.
I don't know how to progress from here... Unless Jovi gets on in the next 24 and updates her fight I guess I'll take over so Cif can get in a bout as well. Other than that... does anyone have a question? Comment? Concern? Want to run a specific situation that they're interested in?

I hear here and there about RP's and so far everyone talks only about fighting.

Not a stupid question at all!
Fighting is the most difficult thing to do in RP and, for some, the most exciting. Interacting in an RP (moving around, talking, being social, performing things of that nature) is very common place and takes up ~95% of an RPs time. Therefore... it's "boring" to people when they talk about things.
You could run an RP with zero fighting, but to keep the more action-oriented players interested, the story has to be pretty good!

Thank you both Otebon and Jovi!!! I learned a whole lot from this training rp. I think I know MIGHT be ready for the serious rps now. Although my English isn't, like Beatnorys, my main language, I'll keep working on it, and I hope that someday, people like Otebon won't find a single mistake in my posts :P

Lol, sorry Beatnory, what I was trying to say is that English isn't my main language, and neither Beatnory's ;) But practice really does help. I'm now on high school, doing TTO (twee-talig onderwijs) or two language education. For four years now, I have most of my subjects in English. In my opinion, my English is rather good, but compared to Otebons or other furries that have English as their mother language, I'm still far from fluent. But, really, like Otebon says, practice practice practice, and you will learn both grammar and spelling. Just keep practicing ;)

I believe in you Beatnory. I believe that, with some hard work, dedication, and perseverance, your English can be better than mine. Yes, English is my native language, but I have a similar ability in French and that is a learned language (due to the language rules of this Forum and the fact that I'm not entirely able to type in French, I'll abstain from going on in that language :p). If you work hard at a language, I'm sure you'll succeed.

Jack's roll allowed Holly some time to get back to her feet, although her back was exposed. She didn't rise completely, instead opting to keep to her knees as she spun to face her opponent. When Jack dove in for her shoulder with a slash, Holly went for the safest place one could be in a knife fight: Jack's shoulder.
A leap allowed her to press her chest against Jack's shoulder, bringing that slashing arm to a halt as the joint refused to move for a bare second. Not one to waste an opportunity, Holly grabbed onto Jack's arm with one hand while her knee shot up to strike him in the stomach.

Jack saw what Holly was about to do a second before she did it and just managed to brace himself in time. "OOF!" Exhaling hard, Jack quickly wrapped his arms around Holly and dragged her down to the ground with him. "You know this is kind of illegal in knife duels, am I correct?" the cat said, managing somehow to keep ahold of his daggers.

I recognize it's flirting with the line about God-modding. However, as a trained Martial Artist, I also know the maneuver to be a truth. It's impossible to move your arm mid swing when something blocks the shoulder. I've seen everyone from 400 lbs football players to 120 lbs 7th degree Masters get blocked by that and I feel as though it's safe to say that in an RP.
Also to clarify slightly, try taking a swing at someone with their chest pressed to your shoulder. I tell you know it's impossible, but you can go ahead and argue with me. Quite frankly, I don't care.
While I'm at it, I shall qualify a few other points. Grabbing the arm is also a very safe move in RP, in my opinion, as the shoulder is right in front of her (touching her in fact) and it's a simple matter to latch onto clothing when it's presented that readily. The knee also never connected, but was on it's way, making your response correct.
Lastly, the situation presented is that Holly is a Master at her craft, namely fighting, and you are a student. It's almost expected for Jovi and I to be God-modding in a degree. To make matters worse, this was actually brought up earlier by another one of the people that have posted to this thread and we came to an agreement there as well.
I apologize for the tone of the above message. I'm having a particularly bad day and I'm having a very bad time medically. So forgive me when I feel some anger at answering questions for the second time or get upset when a student decides to chew out the teacher for something that was already written about and decided upon earlier in the thread or that I have to write about a knife / ground fight at this particular moment.
I apologize, but I don't like writing about knife fights for personal reasons. Especially with anyone that knows anything about ground fighting, because they inevitably take it there and it gets even more detestable for me.
Holly let herself fall to the ground. The only provision she made was guiding their fall slightly by angling her own weight so that Cif didn't land entirely on top of her and knock her wind out. Sadly, she couldn't reverse the fall to give the same to him.
She landed on her side and could feel Jack's arms around her. Her arms were positioned relatively well to where they could be used. One was still holding onto Jack's arm (which she quickly released and brought to her core) and the other was already curled against her chest.
"Yes," Holly answered with a smile. "There really aren't any rules."
To accentuate her words, her face darted out towards Jack's neck, jaws open to gain a purchase. At the same time, her knee shot up once more, this time to hit a more... soft target at the fork of Jack's legs.*

Jack felt Holly's knee make connection with the cup he had decided to wear that day. "Well... that was a good idea..." He winced as Holly's teeth got close to his neck. "Um.. this is a friendly match," he said, scooping up his left-hand dagger with his tail and placing it to her neck. "And at this positon, we'd both be dead." He looked up at her, wincing a bit. "Call it a tie? Because at this rate, if we continue, I'm going to end up as a spot of gore... and I don't want you to have any spots on your teaching record..." He placed the clasp around the hilt of his other knife and inched his hand free, holding it up. "Please... let's just call it a tie/"
(Not if you slash from the right ith your left arm.)
(You still don't know CRAP about dagger fights.)

Actually, as Otebon said, sometimes fight wins are determined by a dice roller, and other times the winner is determined by the person who is running the RP. I've also been in fights in the past where there is an outside judge who just determines who the better rper is.
In this simulation we were running a school-type scenario which means that no student should be able to beat their master. Cif came in for practice, and he got the best RPer I know, Otebon, subbing in my place. Otebon and I worked out a deal a long time ago that he may control Holly whenever needed. I suppose that it would come off as godmodding without prior knowledge of that. Otherwise what Otebon did was little more than some slight power playing in my eyes, as he never said that he struck Cif's character. In other fights with other characters he also had his own characters become injured, so it's not that he was godmodding at all.
As the creator of this thread I am officially doing two things to this training session:
1. Definition- Godmodding: "God Modding" is in essence when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. And example is when they simply cannot be harmed by any and all means other RP-ers try.
-It can be killing or injuring a character without the player's express permission.
-It can be when they simply can’t be hit and dodge all attacks or anything for this matter aimed at them.
-It can also be using other characters that other people RP with.
