Title: Denial of Service Attack
Post by: Tweak on July 29, 2009, 03:36:14 PM
Dear users,

Today at approximately 15:10 GMT the server was subjected to a Denial of Service attack of unknown origin, HTTP, FTP, DNS and IRC services were restored within 50 minutes however we are continuing to have problems restarting our mail service. As a result notifications and signup confirmations are failing to be sent, all mail will be held in queue until these services are restored.

Rest assured our team are working restlessly to restore these downed systems.

Regards,

Tweak
Systems Administrator

Server has been rebooted and mail systems are back online, mail queues are currently being processed and all mail should be delivered within the next 10 minutes.

Total time services were affected: 2 hours and 25 minutes.

At approximately 00:30 GMT the server became unresponsive, after several attempts to access the server remotely were unsuccessfuly the server was power-cycled and came back online at around 01:15 GMT.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

The Furry to Furry site has been having some kind of problems as well. If you or anyone you know belong to that site you may want to let them know that no new users can register with them as they just receive a message that "image could not be verified due to server issues." Unfortunately these perspective members cannot inform them of this as they also use the image verification on their Contact Us page and you just get the same message.
