Title: Credit Crunch
Post by: FurFlyer on February 18, 2009, 04:58:04 AM
Is it just me that's tired of hearing of it? Everyone talks about how everyone it is down to bank loans etc, but I think that a lot of it, or at least the reason that it is becoming bigger, is that the media is fuelling the fire, so to speak. If you watch the news, all that they broadcast now are stories designed to scare us, about how certain businesses are going under or how we're all scared to spend etc, because it makes for good TV.
I mean I can understand that its our faults in the first place for agreeing to loan out tons of money but I think that the TV (especially in America if what we learn in school is right), just leech on to any opportunity to scare us.

Rant over, enjoy spending your money  :)

The media is a private entity.

As such, it has to make money.

And there is not much money to be had in the boring truth.

Think about it for a moment. Imagine that you are browsing a forum, and most of the threads are boring/happy threads. Then you see that says something like "MY BABY DROWNED IN THE BATHTUB THIS MORNING." You're probably going to click on that thread and read it.

Now imagine if all the threads said something along those lines, then if one of the threads wants to get read, it'll have to step it up...
