Post by: Tweak on January 28, 2009, 10:10:52 PM
With the server switch comes a new batch of updates. This are listed below.

* PM sending limits have been lifted, you may now send as many per hour as you wish. However if this is abused, the limit will be reinstated.
* Spell Checking has now been enabled
* Attachment sizes have been increased:
  * Attachment directory is now 150MB in size, feel free to attach files
  * Total attachments per post may equal 1MB in size
  * You may upload a total of 4 files per post of 256KB each
* Linked avatars are now resized and saved by the server
* Linked avatars are now downloaded to the server and resized, this is due to earlier problems.

More updates will come later, they will be added over time.

Whoops :P

Just re-save your current profile and it'll resize for you. It was due to the change in how they are resized :)

Nice work, Tweak. ^^

It seems a handful of people need their avatar resized now though.

It seems a handful of people need their avatar resized now though.

All they need to do is go to re-edit their profile, no changes needed. You can do it yourself on accounts which need it.

Apologies for the outage there, to quote my data centre technicians:

Unfortunately we are currently experiencing a DDOS attack on our network. This may affect network connectvity to your servers. Our network engineers are currently working as hard as they can to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.

As of yet we may still experience some issues.

A Distributed Denial Of Service attack? That explains a lot.
(Darn cyberpunks attacking the server...)

Well, not this server in particular but one located on the network. This server is currently perfectly stable.

Thanks for the update Tweak^^

Ooh, which reminds me, I should donate some credits :3

Credits can be donated to tweakNB on IMVU.

Can I also ask everyone to minimise the number of email notifications they get. PM notifications in particular, I currently have 78 emails in the mail queue of the server unable to deliver as Yahoo has temporarily blocked our IP from sending to them based on "User Complaints".

*Gets shifty eyes and looks guilty* Okay, I'll be sure to turn off PM notifications.

Yours are one of the more prominent in the queue. You've yet to turn them off either.

For the sake of everyone else:

To turn PM notifications off, go to Profile, then Personal Message Options in the menu on the left, and where it says "Notify by email every time you receive a personal message:" select "Never" from the drop-down menu.

Email notifications itself is not a huge issue, but if you PM a large amount it would be easier to disable them, the server can easily handle it, it's your email providers that get scared! :P

I use Gmail personally... but yeah, it could be taxing on these servers.

Yeah, that makes sense. Whilst the notifications have a lot of benefits for me, considering the amount of PMs I recieve...:P

Exactly and conversations through PM, you're sat on the forums, why use a email to nudge you too? :P I've contacted Yahoo and hopefully we can sort the issue.

Credits can be donated to tweakNB on IMVU.

But I've donated my credits by going to http://www.thefurryforum.com/?open=donations
and clicking on "Donate Credits." And it didn't go to "tweakNB" so does this mean my credits haven't been received?

Correct, they went to Max's account, given he does nothing here, I'd appreciate them more, no worries though.

Thanks Tweak^^

EDIT: I have also now opted out of email notifications :P

Apologies for the outage earlier, the data centre released the following statement:

Quote
This evening we suffered a major network outage in the datacentre. Both routers in this DC simultaneously crashed at approximately 18.10.

Both routers have now been brought back into service and all services are operating normally.

The cause of the outage has now been determined to be human error. We will now put in place systems to ensure this cannot happen again.

We sincerely apologise for this problem.

Also earlier Yahoo problems appear to have alleviated, I still need to set up a system with Yahoo however.
