Title: Disappearances at Glenmoor
Post by: Hunter568 on April 08, 2018, 08:13:38 AM
You and your friends are backpacking through the countryside and decide to stop for the night in a rustic little town called Glenmoor. It's an unassuming little hamlet surrounded by high cliffs and dense forest, and it has always been surrounded by strange rumors. The townspeople are all very guarded and tight-lipped, and the whole place seems stuck in the past.

Your group doesn't intend to stay long, only to spend the night in an inn and continue with your trip. Unfortunately for you, a massive storm sweeps over the land during the night and knocks debris from the cliffs  into the road, blocking your exit. Until emergency services can clear a pathway, which could take weeks, you are stuck in Glenmoor.

What's worse, villagers from Glenmoor start disappearing or turning up dead in their homes. The superstitious locals are blaming a terrifying beast that is said to roam the dark woods that surround the town. Cut off from the police by the closed roads and untamed wilderness, it's up to you to fend for yourself and try to figure out who or what is responsible for the disappearances at Glenmoor.

Ideally I'm hoping for 2-3 people to play as the group of travelers and work together to unravel the town's secrets. I will play as the NPC's and set the scene for everyone. Character sheet format is as follows:

Name

Basic Description

A few items you want to carry in your pack [don't worry about money, I'll just assume that you have enough to pay for the Inn and general supplies needed]

If you're interested just post a character description and I'll kick it off once we have 2-3 people. Let's have some spooky, mysterious fun!

The three of you have been traveling for the past two weeks, with nothing but the supplies you carry on your back. You are all good friends who decided that this summer, you would backpack through the countryside together and see some of nature's wonders, while visiting some of the oldest historic towns and landmarks that you can reach and taking in the sights. Though most of your journey has been on foot, you hitch rides on buses and trains here and there, where you can.

On this day, however, there has been no bus, train, taxi, or even a bicycle for the past 25 miles. All of you are worn, tired, and dusty from the long hours you have walked. The last time you passed through any kind of town was almost 8 hours ago, and it's getting close to midnight. You've almost agreed to just make some shelter under the dense trees that line the road, when you spot a fork in the road ahead.

According to your map, the route you have planned requires you to take the right fork and continue on to the city of Greystone, the next major stop on your trip. However, to your dismay, you realize that Greystone is not for another 15 miles. A roadsign driven into the hard-packed earth in the middle of the two forks points to the left, and reads as follows: "Glenmoor, 1.25 miles."

Now, all three of you have heard some strange rumors about Glenmoor on your travels through the countryside. Many furs have whispered to you about the strange monsters that roam the forests around Glenmoor, and about an ancient curse that haunts the area. Some have even claimed to have seen ghosts or fairies while staying in Glenmoor, or to have heard strange howling during the night. None of you had realized, until this moment, that you would be passing so close to the notorious village during your trip. The road leading to it is not clearly marked on your map.

Despite the eerie rumors surrounding the town, you all decide that staying for one night can do no harm, and that you are too tired to press on toward Greystone any longer. With sore feet and drooping eyes, your group staggers down the road to Glenmoor.

The trip to Glenmoor doesn't take very long, although the road is rather inhospitable. It rises to meet a soaring cliff face which seemed far in the distance earlier on. The road cuts a path right over the bare rock, the black void of an unknowably high drop yawning at you from the left, and the unyielding stone of the cliff standing rigid to your right. In poor weather, this would be a nightmare to travel, but in the balmy summer night you have little difficulty.

Finally, your weary party reaches the entrance to the town. A sign reads "Welcome to historic Glenmoor!" The whole town seems to be swallowed up by the dark, twisted trees of the forest. It also has a rather jarring look to it. Stores that seem ripped from the medieval ages clash with more modern-looking buildings jammed in between them. A butcher shop down the street from you appears to have been built sometime during the 1300s, while the general store next to it bears a glowing neon sign and an automatic sliding door entrance. The city planning in Glenmoor is clearly not putting much effort into creating a consistent aesthetic.

But none of you have much energy for gawking at scenery. You all notice a building off to your right with an old wooden sign that reads, "Shadowbrook Inn." It has a drawing of a speedy brook flowing through the trees painted on it. You can see yellowish light spilling out from the inn's windows, and can assume that it's currently open for business. From what you can tell, this is the only place where you'll find a good bed for the night.

[Edited to include third player]

"Shadowbrook" Angder states. "Its like the place is trying to be as creepy as possible." Angder staggers forward, his feet hurt, and he is somewhat hungry to. "Well. May as well go in and say hello. What's the worst tha~" Angder pauses, looking over at Geoff. "Finishing that sentence is a really bad idea, isn't it."

(Alright!)

White looks over at his companions Angder and Geoff after Angder says the name of the town before them. "This place sure does look ominous like the stories have foresaid. I too don't have any fond ideas of staying here, but it would be nice to lay in a real bed."

The group can make out the faint sounds of many voices chattering together, and a few chords of guitar music drift from the Shadowbrook Inn's entranceway. Shadows move across the light spilling out of the window. It seems to be a combined inn and tavern, with patrons milling about inside. You can't tell much else from the outside of the building.

Outside, the wind starts to pick up, and light drops of rain begin to fall. Looking up, you can see storm clouds crawling across the dark night sky.

Geoff, the chubby bear to the right of White, is displaying more exhaustion than the others, but is keeping up well enough.
"Yeah," he replies to White with a rasp, shifting the pack straps on his shoulders, "I'll take the risk, heh..."

"I just want to be able to sit down comfortably" Angder moves over to the door. and opens it, before stumbling inside. He glances around, looking for somewhere to sit.

As Angder stumbles inside the inn, he is greeted by a welcome sight. The room opens up into a cozy tavern furnished mostly with oak tables and benches. There are several slightly tipsy furs milling around the tavern, holding mugs of dark brown ale and singing along to some kind of folk song. In the middle of the room, a scruffy-looking black labrador dressed in tattered rags is playing an old acoustic guitar. He sings in a melodious and playful tone. His guitar case is open on the table next to him, and folks toss a coin or two into it as they pass. At the bar counter against the tavern area's back wall, a burly female grizzly bear pours drinks and keeps a wary eye on the patrons around her.

Off to Angder's right, he can see a counter that appears to be for purchasing a room at the Inn, and a staircase that presumably leads up to the bedrooms. Behind the counter sits an elderly otter with a grey-streaked muzzle, dressed in an old-fashioned tweed suit vest. He is seated, and his head droops forward onto his chest. Angder hears faint snoring sounds issuing from the otter. It appears that the old fur has fallen asleep at his post.

Nobody has noticed Angder's entrance yet, as they are too distracted by the musical performance in the tavern.

Post by: White Wolf Guardian on April 10, 2018, 11:31:10 PM
The wolf dragon followed in behind Angder to notice the purchasing counter on the right as well as the people inside the proprietorship. "Well Angder, it looks like we'll be able to rent a room, hopefully..." White felt a bit nervous, being familiar with small towns in his past and the idiosyncrasies of small town behavior.
Title: Re: Disappearances at Glenmoor
Post by: Hunter568 on April 10, 2018, 11:37:35 PM
At White's words, the whole tavern suddenly goes silent. The patrons stop talking, the guitarist stops playing, and everybody in the building looks over, staring at the newcomers.

All of the furs in the inn look surprised to see anyone from out of town, and an awkward silence hangs in the air as they stare down the group of travlers entering the Shadowbrook.

The otter to the group's right still naps away peacefully, his snores occassionally breaking through the now silent tavern.
Title: Re: Disappearances at Glenmoor
Post by: The Past on April 10, 2018, 11:52:28 PM
Geoff followed behind closely and, with subtlety, used his far taller winged friend as a shield from potential eyeballs. He'd become more used to attention on their travels, but his current mood didn't agree with it. Once the crowd went silent, his nervousness kicked up, and he remained not saying a peep.
Title: Re: Disappearances at Glenmoor
Post by: Hunter568 on April 11, 2018, 12:16:41 AM
After several moments, the silence ends when the labrador with the guitar nonchalantly returns to his playing. He flashes a kindly smile at the newcomers, and then turns away from them as he strums. Slowly, the rest of the tavern patrons return to their drinks and begin talking to eachother again, however nobody resumes singing. Even the more intoxicated furs look somewhat nervous, wary of the strangers. Many continue to steal furtive glances back at Angder, White, and Geoff, as if suspicious of what they might do. The she-bear managing the bar keeps a steady eye on the group as she continues to serve ale.

The old otter snores on blissfully.

Angder walks up to the otter. "Hey, Err." Angder reaches a hand forward, then withdraws it. He doubted shaking the Otter would go down well with the locals. "Hello? I would like to buy a room." Angder spoke slightly louder than he needed to, hoping the otter would wake up.

"ZZzzzhck..huh?" the otter splutters, looking up suddenly in confusion. He whips a pair of rounded spectacles out of a breast pocket and carefully places them on his head. Squinting, still slighly groggy from his nap, the otter examines the three furs in front of his counter. He starts in surprise, fully awake as he realizes that the three in front of him are complete strangers from outside Glenmoor.

"Oh, well, uh.. hello there young'uns!" he says in greeting, trying to cover up his awkwardness with cheer. "Appears I dozed off there for a bit, heh....You be wantin' rooms then?" he inquires. "Name's Dermot, by the way. Welcome to the Shadowbrook Inn."

"Nice to meet you Dermot!" The wolgon said quite happily to the otter receptionist. "Might I ask, are there any historical papers I can read through to learn more about this town and what to see in Glenmoor?" White asks in earnest. "I love learning about history and culture, I'd love to talk to a local that knows a lot about this subject as well, if possible."
Title: Re: Disappearances at Glenmoor

"Oh well..." Dermot stammers, a little taken aback by the wolgon's enthusiasm. "The library has plenty of town records and books on history, but I reckon it'll be closed at such a late hour. Its also at the other end of town, and..." Dermot glances out the dark window to his left, where the rain and wind has now picked up considerably, slamming against the glass pane. "With that storm brewin', I'd not advise you to go wandrin' through the streets."

Angder glares at White for a moment, before looking back at the Otter. "I can't speak for him" Angder gestures to White "But I... actually just want a room. Somewhere to sleep, and possibly a bite to eat." Angder states. "I don't think I would want to walk across the the library even without the storm." Angder glances back out, looking at the window. it really did look like they arrived just in time.

"Ah, of course," Dermot agrees with a sigh of relief at the wolf's more normal request. He rummages around underneath the counter before producing a key with a white card attached to it. The card reads "23". He hands it to Angder.

"Room 23, you'll find it up there on the left," he says, pointing to the staircase. "And if you want something to eat, you can order some nice food in the tavern. Finest quisine in Glenmoor!" he chuckles.

As the group ascended the stairs and stepped out onto the landing, they realized that the inn's room numbering system started with room 21, perhaps marking it as the first room on the second floor. There were, in reality, only about 5 rooms in the small inn.

Room 21 was nearest to the top of the stairs, 25 was at the far end of the hallway along the same wall as 21, with 23 in the middle. On the other wall were the doors for 22 and 24. On the end wall of the hallway, facing towards the front of the inn, was a window with the storm shutters firmly closed. They shook with the force of the wind raging outside, and as the group examined the hallway, they heard a loud peal of thunder outside which shook the inn to its foundation. The storm's intensity sounded like it was becoming dangerous.

From rooms 21 and 22, a dim light spilled out under the doorframe. Muffled voices issued from inside 22. The other rooms were silent as the grave, and seemed to be completely dark on the inside.

Angder moves over to the door, and cautiously unlockes and opened the door. He felt on the inside of the door for a light switch, straining his eyes to see into the darkness. "Well. This place keeps gettin' better and better" Angder mutters "did they design this place to be creepy?"

Angder looks back at the Wolgon. "If you want to run out into the rain to go read some old books, be my guest. Just don't drag us along with you." Angder states. "I really need to crash, and I think Geoff is the same."

As angder searches along the wall, he feels his paw click a lightswitch on.

A single light in the center of the room's ceiling flickers to life, and the interior of room 23 becomes visible. Along the room's left wall are two beds, and to the right is an old red sofa. Theres also a door to the left through which the group can see a small bathroom. On the wall opposite the entrance is another window with storm shutters tightly closed and locked with a slideable bolt. It shudders occasionally from the force of the storm. Behind the beds, hung on the wall, is a painting of an idyllic forest grove with a deep, blue stream flowing through it.

The room is a little small and old-fashioned, but it seems clean and well-maintained.

The wolgon wanders into the room and looks around, ahead of Angder "Oh my gosh, there's so much old stuff in here!" White picks up a phone book covered in dust and blows the dust off, causing himself to start coughing and sneezing. "Well, isn't that something?" The hybrid motions to Angder, obsessed with the relic of a bygone era.
Title: Re: Disappearances at Glenmoor
Post by: Hunter568 on April 20, 2018, 06:31:20 AM
The phone book is yellowed and torn with age. The names inside are rather difficult to make out. It seems to be a regional phonebook, with numbers from the nearby city of Greystone listed as well as numbers from Glenmoor. An old, black rotary phone sits on the desk that White picked the phonebook up from. You're not sure if it actually works or not, it looks ancient.

Outside the storm continues to rage. Something that sounds like the cracking and smashing of stone-on-stone echoes through the night in addition to the howling wind and booming thunder.
Title: Re: Disappearances at Glenmoor
Post by: The Past on April 20, 2018, 02:44:45 PM
Geoff let his backpack slide off his arm and slumped into the sofa with a sigh, then his ears flicked back at the raging boom of thunder. He mumbled while stretching and folding his arms behind his head, "This storm might keep me up a while, heh."
Title: Re: Disappearances at Glenmoor

The wolf dragon plops down in a chair next to the sofa where Geoff took a seat, eyeing the rotary telephone off to the side. "So, do you think that old phone works? Have you ever used a rotary phone? Does this entire situation somewhat excite you, I mean, the rustic nature of this place does seem somewhat enticing. I didn't expect a hiking trip to turn into an adventure." White drops his backpack and opens it, sifting through to look for his notebook, finding it, and bringing it out onto his lap, he grabbed a pencil from the bottom of the bag and started writing the date at the top of an open page.

The bear blinked at White's rapid-fire questions, but he was used to that by now. "Well, yeah, it is interesting. I wish I wasn't so tired. That's what's killin' it for me, heh..."
Geoff laid down and stretched with a grunt. "We've got time to explore the town tomorrow and stuff..."

The wolf dragon started taking notes in his notebook about the day's activities and the entrance to Glenmoor, sketching a badly drawn image of the inn that the group is staying in and the hallway with the many different rooms, with a last sketch about Room 23. "I suppose there will be a lot more to learn tomorrow, I can't say I am not excited to see what the day brings us." White put down his pencil and closed the notebook, putting the items back into his backpack and zipping it closed.

"Who caaaares" Angder said, with a yawn. "I am going to go take a bath, then get some sleep. We can discuss ancient technology tommorow when we will be able to stay awake." Angder moved towards the bathroom. barely paying attention to the other two.

As the group of three settles down for sleep, the storm outside shows no sign of abating. It continues to rage and roar through the night, battering the inn like heavy waves against a ship in open water. While this might make it hard for most to fall asleep, Geoff, Angder, and White are so worn from traveling that they find themselves in a deep sleep as soon as their heads hit the pillow (or, in Geoff's case, the sofa arm).

The first one to wake up the next morning, unsurprisingly, is the energetic White. Sunlight streams through the window and birds chirp peacefully, seemingly unaffected by the brutal tempest from last night. You can also make out the faint sounds of leaves rustling in the breeze. Despite the strangeness of Glenmoor, it seems like a summer morning in this forest town does have its own charm.

The wolgon jumps up from his chair and looks around the room, immediately inspecting some books around the phone, flipping through some pages, White finds material of little interest and closes each book as he goes through them. "Well, not much to look at here, I hope the others awaken soon, I really want to go see things in the town..." The hybrid carried off, turning around to stare at Angder and Geoff.

As White hurries around the room, making a general ruckus and flipping through books, the other two furs in are awakened, and start to stir groggily.

White, you also start to notice voices drifting up from the first floor. You can't make out what anyone is saying, but their tone seems harsh and worried.

Angder rolls over. "Give me a few more mins." Angder mumbled, before trying (unsuccessfully) to get back to sleep. Eventually, he groans, and climbs out of bed. Angder Looks over at White. "Not seen you this excited since the last town we visited" Angder rubbed his head, it was safe to say he was not a morning person.

Geoff groaned in sarcastic annoyance as he stretched awake. "What are you, a feral dog?" He chuckled while twisting around to sit up on the sofa. He wasn't much of a morning person either, but he was in good spirits lately, and it was easier to get out of beds that weren't his own. He rested his arms on his knees, locking his hands together. "Uhh... Well, I'm ready, I guess."

White was hardly paying attention to the others, trying to not make any noise, listening to the voices below the floor. "I think we need to get downstairs and talk with the people down there. Sounds like something of interest may be happening already." The wolf dragon picked up his backpack and headed over to the room's door handle. He turned around to look at the rotary phone. "I wanted to use that.... Oh well." The hybrid gripped and opened the door, revealing the rustic hallway once more.
Title: Re: Disappearances at Glenmoor
Post by: Hunter568 on April 22, 2018, 06:54:31 PM
The hallway looked much the same as it had last night, save for the fact that the window at the hall's end was now open, the storm shutters unlatched and thrown aside. Outside, White can glimpse various townspeople milling about, starting their day. The world is still a bit damp from last night's storm, but the warm summer sun rising over the town promises to fix that.

White can hear the voices from downstairs more clearly now. There are two distinct voices, and one of them White recognizes as the voice of Dermot, the otter innkeeper from last night. The other voice is unfamilar. White only catches a few words, not enough to make out exactly what they're talking about. All he can tell is that both of them sound worried.

Angder moved out into the corridor, pausing to listen intently, straining to hear the words being said.
"I hope they are not talking about us" he said, quietly.

Angder manages to hear a bit of the conversation by straining his ears.

Dermot's voice asks "Well, when's.....ter be fixed?"

Another voice replies "They say they don't know. You know how city.......never cared about us.....could be weeks."

The voices become more hushed after this and are too muffled to make out, but continue to sound worried and frustrated.

The wolgon listens to the voices and moves down the stairs to see Dermot and another person in the room conversing something about a city and weeks of time. White stands at the base of the stairs saying nothing for a moment, to listen to the conversation. "Hmm." Is all the hybrid manages to say.

White sees Dermot and the fierce-looking she-bear who tended the inn's bar last night engaged in an intense conversation, both of their brows furrowed in concern. At White's approach, Dermot breaks off the conversation and stares up at the wolgon in surprise. The she-bear shuts her mouth and crosses her arms guardedly, glaring up at the stranger.

"Oh, hello there sir!" Dermot says in greeting, again using cheer to mask his apparent nervousness at speaking to an outsider. "Lovely day today. What cannae do fer you?"

The she-bear makes no pretense of hiding her suspicion of the stranger. She maintains her hostile gaze even as Dermot steps forward to greet his guest.

The hybrid turns around to look for approval upon Angder's face and hopes for some sort of agreeance. "Well... I think we have a lot of errands to do today, it was nice meeting you, I hope to see you again soon!" The wolf dragon turns and heads for the door to leave the inn. "I can't wait to explore the town." He says quietly toward the blue wolf.

"Erm, wait! There is something you ought to know, if you're plannin' on leaving today..." Dermot says nervously, glancing back at the she-bear he was speaking to earlier. She shakes her head in disapproval, and stomps off towards the tavern area without another word.

Dermot addresses the group of three, seemingly nervous of their reaction. "Well, you see, we've just heard that the roads are all blocked up from the storm last night. The wind, you know. It seems that a lot of trees and rocks and such have been blown down the cliff, and now nobody can get in or out of town!" Dermot breathes heavily, continuing to glance nervously over his shoulder in the direction the she-bear just left.

"Is that really an issue for us?" Angder asked. "I mean, we are on foot, surely we can just go round the blockage? I'm not against doing a bit of climbing if necessary."

White nods to Angder. "Yeah, I have to agree with that statement, we're not exactly unfamiliar with climbing up and down dangerous slopes, but I would imagine you may have said that to us because there's a reason we wouldn't want to avoid the roads?" The wolf dragon looked at Dermot with curiosity.

"Eh heh..." Dermot laughs nervously at White's question, but avoids answering it by saying "Look young'uns, you're welcome to try climbin' over the blockage, but I warn you it'll be a mighty hard climb. The collapse happened right over the thinnest stretch, where it's cut out of the cliffside." Then he looks at White. "As fer wanderin' through the woods to go around it....well, don't want ter get lost, do ya?" he asks innocently.

Angder sighs. "Oh I assure you I have a perfectly good sense of dire~" Angder pauses, and sighs. "White is right, there is more to this, isn't there."

"Oh, it's nothin'....just urban legends," Dermot says, waving a paw dismissively. "You know us country folk. Superstitious lot!" he says with more false cheer, hurrying back over to his post behind the counter. "Now, if there's nothing else I can help you with, I suppose you ought to be going," he says with a glance toward the door. Dermot is visibly uncomfortable, and seems as if he would rather be doing anything other than talking to the three of you.

"Right... superstition. Well, we best be off then, right Angder?" The wolgon gave Angder a look of mild anger with a hint that the question itself was rhetorical. The wolgon exited the building, not giving Dermot a second glance.

Dermot fidgets nervously with some items behind the counter, barely making any eye contact with the two furs left in the room. He seems a bit ashamed about frustrating White, but keeps his mouth shut.

Angder looked back up the stairs. "Geoff? We want to leave now! everything OK up there?"

Angder gave an apologetic glance at Dermot, before moving towards the door, he waited for Geoff before leaving, slightly confused as to what was keeping them upstairs.

When the others left the room, Geoff had slumped in the sofa and drifted back to a light slumber. His eyes flipped open at Angder's voice. "Oh, crap."
He grabbed his pack and rushed with careful feet downstairs and out the door with the wolf. "Eh, sorry, heh..."

"So, now that we're away from the townspeople, what the heck is going on with the weird behavior about the forest and the roads? How can every road be blocked? That doesn't even seem possible. We wandered through the wilderness just fine before now, I don't know how anything would be different." The wolgon looked at the other buildings in the area, with his arms on his hips, looking for other signs of life in the town.

As White looked around, he would notice many townspeople milling about, heading to their places of business for the day.

Farther up the street, he could see what looked like a town square, complete with a large statue of some sort in the center. There seemed to be a large group of townspeople gathered there, talking to eachother in a circle.

Across the road from the Shadowbrook Inn was a shop labeled "Genton General Supply", and as White looked around he saw a gray tabby tom in a nice dress shirt and slacks unlock the shop's sliding doors and step inside. Next to the general store was a butcher shop with an extremely old-fashioned storefront. Instead of a modern neon sign like Genton General, the butcher shop boasted a worn, wooden sign not unlike the Shadowbrook's. Painted on it were the words "Silverton's Meat Shoppe." Outside the shop, a young wolf with white, silvery fur is hurriedly gathering chopped wood. He carries a comically large burden that he obviously cannot lift very well.

None of the townspeople outside seem to have noticed the group yet.

((Sorry for the delay))

Angder glanced around, before looking at White "So, you want to lead the way?" He asked. "Knowing you, you will anyway. May as well make it official"

The wolf dragon nodded to Angder and wandered over to the butcher shop aptly named Silverton's Meat Shoppe. "Hey there my canine acquaintance, I would like to inquire if you would like some assistance with carrying that large amount of wood? That burden looks rather unpleasant." The hybrid tried to say as eloquently as possible. "My friend and I here are looking to do something interesting while we think about a way to continue our journey."

"Oh, uh..." the young wolf glances around uncertainly for a moment. Then he stumbles and almost drops his large bundle of firewood. "Um, yes sir! That would be much appreciated!" he wheezes, extending his arms forward so White can take some of the wood. "I've just got to take it around back for my dad."

The wolgon obliges and handles as much wood as he can carry from the load that the wolf was carrying. "So, how long have you been doing this anyways?" The hybrid asks the young wolf in earnest.

Angder sighs. He looks back at the bear. "Guess we are going to carrying logs today." He said before moving after the Wolgan. Not particually happy with this new development.

"Oh, carrying firewood you mean?" he asks with a chuckle. "As long as I can remember, I guess. I've worked with my dad in the shop since I was little, and he always seems to have some chore for me to do."

The young wolf leads the group around the side of the butcher shop to a small pile of firewood at the rear of the building. "Just over here," he says, dropping his own load of wood with a sigh of relief.

"Thanks for your help. The name's Patrick, by the way," he says, extending his silvered paw with a shy smile.

White drops the wood he was carrying with noticeable fatigue after lifting more than he was expecting for a long period of time. The hybrid meets the extended hand with one of his own, feeling the material of the silvered paw in his own. "My name is White and my friend is Angder, I'm glad you are keeping busy."

The wolgon suddenly lowered his voice. "Could you tell me perhaps why the roads are blocked off as of late? If you don't mind, we're trying to keep busy ourselves, but we find ourselves currently in limbo."

Patrick looks a bit confused at your question. "Well, all I heard was that the storm caused some kind of collapse from the mountainside. People don't really tell me much-"

In the middle of Patrick's sentence, he is cut off as a door at the back of the butcher's shop swings violently open. An older wolf with broad, muscular shoulders and Patrick's same silvery fur steps out of the entrance and yells, "What's going on here?!" He eyes White and Angder furiously.

The wolf dragon was caught off guard and jumped a bit when the father walked outside suddenly. "Hello there sir, I was just helping your son here move some firewood. Me and my friend here are travelers." White motions to Angder.

"Nothing!" Angder said. "White was carrying a log for patrick!"

Angder turns round to Geoff, hoping he will give them backup if things went badly.
