Got an idea for a theme for the forum or a new emoticon expression/species? Post it here!

Ideas may or may not be applied to the forum, and it might take some time for things to be put in place, but we'd love to bring some fresh looks to the forum.

Maibe Instead of you seeing all emoticons only in your species, you see emoticons of the spicies of the postier?

EXAMPLE: a fox makes a post containing an emoji, a wolf will see the emoji in for form; rather than in wolf form!


But I do understand that that would take some semy-hard coding!

Why not just give the emoticons each their own ID under-the-hood, (added when you actually post the post, if you have smilies enabled) and when you post one it pairs it with that ID? Then it would still just be text, but the client's copy of the page would know to load whatever graphic is paired to that ID. Same effect, and if I'm not mistaken no extra data usage.

The emoticons are all server side already, the emoticon code is replaced with the relevant one when it the post is loaded.

The problem with associating it with the poster's species is that each post would need to load another emoticon set and slow down load times on the forums.
