Title: What do I do with this information?
Post by: Bricket on December 25, 2017, 04:19:27 AM
On the advice of my college I decided to do a test regarding potentiallity.
The results were quite interesting: appearantly I'm great at handling large data.
To explain it: imagine looking at a map with every car as a dot on it, I'll be able to see the major routes and traffic jams and how to handle this.

Is this an useful skill? I don't know.
What kan I do with it? I don't know.

I honestly searching for a field where they need someone who can talk well and see a way in big data, if you have a suggesiton: let me know it

Bricket,
Look into traffic management, fleet route manager, maybe train route planning/control, public safety, etc..

It's all needed by a college degree, something I have difficulties with because it's too boring and doesn't challenge m

understand that, but look beyond at all the things you would get to do, and think of it as a step in the challenge to get there

I wish I could, it's just too boring.
It just doesn't challenge me  :/

I've been there and understand, I carried a 2.5 GPM in High school because I wasn't challenged, but have a 4.0 College GPA and an Associate in Applied Science, Aerospace Maintenance Technology.

I've had to push myself to do the college work, but ended up working beyond the curriculum to keep myself challenged. the goal was a big part of the challenge, being the first in my family to get an associates

I know I know,

but think of this: imagine going to class day in day out, trying to go for more.
Be busy with oh so much in life, try to stay challenged but be disappointed because nothing keeps you challenged

I don't have to imagine... I've been there... Worked as an auto repair tech for 8 years, bored out of my mind, looking for a better, more challenging job.

Now I'm a welder/fabricator at a small shop, huge challenges, always something different.

Don't sell yourself short, from talking here adn reading your post I get the feeling of how hard you push yourself, the need to do, to achieve, to learn. You can't get to where you really need to be without building the foundation first.

The days of Tesla and Einstein, of learning by doing, success and failure, are gone. Build yourself like a building, whether house or sky scraper.. you have to have a solid foundation.

I want you to look at this: this is a map I made when I got bored and I heard about a mobility plan in Ghent, I decided to counter-design one and it resulted in this
https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/1/edit?hl=nl&mid=1An0B675Qb2GgbeV8udPMFeKy0Eg (https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/1/edit?hl=nl&mid=1An0B675Qb2GgbeV8udPMFeKy0Eg)

It's something I easily made and loads of mobility experts are surprised by it, It's just something I made.
Yet I don't know what to do with it, or with me in general

Thank, I'd love to try to  :P

But it's just, what can  I do with a skill like this?
I need to be challenged 24/7, call me insane but when I'm for example on the bus and I notice a traffic jam i immediatly redesign the street in my mind to make a buslane possible with separate bycicle lanes

Going back to my original comments, public safety/traffic management, BUT to get those positions you have to have the foundation...

My 'sell yourself short' comment was about not being able to deal with the classes and being bored, not about your current abilities and strengths. Look into programs that you can test into an appropriate level?

Perhaps you should look into Rail Traffic Controller (RTC) at CN or CP if you live in Canada or the United States. There is no schooling required for they train, and it seems something that may interest you. For more info, see;

Hope this helps in some way.

I don't think that, just because you've came to the attention using an example/test involving traffic, that you have to look into the traffic sector.

What you said is that you could handle lots of information, and logically connect that information together. Wouldn't such a trait be really helpfull in politics, aswell?

Trust me, I can keep trying but what is politics if you're limited?

Try to spread a message if the mediums to spread said message are controlled by those who opose your opinion

Right...

What I meant is, that I'm shure that a treat like that could come in very helpfull for other career fields as well!

Although, I can't really tell wich. Because I don't know that much about said treat, or said career fields... :/

Well, I'm gonna use a different explenation.
Have you ever seen the Matrix?
They saw an entire world by just looking at a code.

Say, a "normal" (god I feel extreme Tumblr-ized for saying this) would see just some code.
I would see the Matrix

EDIT

So I came back from College and they suggested me that I should go for a profession as a software testengineer.
They advised this company that only allows people with certain skills and can help you get you your license in 5 weeks to become a test engineer.

So my question for someone who's tech related: what exactly is test engineering and would it be something for me?
