Yes. Animals are humans, and bugs are animals - acting as food, livestock, even dangerous wildlife, etc. Plants and bacteria stay where they are.

Here's a character study, where I draw their anatomy and then drape the clothes over them - it helps me make the clothing hang accurately.

Interesting. Are they decorative?
Swords I've touched felt rough - if you run your palm along them at any force or speed they would likely cut you. But the sheer weight and force certainly will cut during a swing. x_x
A katana of course is supposedly very sharp, so far as I'm aware. I have never even seen one.

Tempting though it is to explain all, I have to watch what I spout publicly so as to not spoil things. Rest assured, there are as many friendly bugs as not!
I am also limited regards what I can draw; character portraits are fairly harmless yet hopefully whet appetites. Still, in my opinion, the drawings in this thread are nothing without the associated richness of the book to back them up. My pictures are amateur, my writing is not.
I hope you enjoy the book. In the event, I look forward to your opinion. ^_^

Great. You were one of the first people to buy it. ^_^ I really appreciated your faith and kind words, Albie, and that of this forum in general, as that first week was frightening. I feel much better about the whole process now and the next release will hopefully be a breeze.

Well....I am only a couple chapters in.
But so far my favorite is ....Casimir. I fell in love with him in the prologue, even though I have a feeling that because of that and he seems to be the adoptive father of the main character.....I doubt he has as big of a part that I would like. In fact I was annoyed with Rufus trying to coerce his son, Bruno, to go with him behind Casimir's back. In my eyes, so far.....Rufus is a villain. I hope you don't mind me telling you my honest thoughts. But too be honest......it is better than I imagined in writing style. The characters seem to have personality and it isn't too descriptive. It lets me imagine.

That scene doesn't strictly occur in the novel, it's just me playing about - though the moods and look of the two characters are correct. It could easily have occured 'off screen' as it were. Linus certainly is a worrywart.

I though that was the actual book for a moment. :sweatdrop: <.< I always feel bad for disliking fanart of certain book series, as deep diwn I know it just contradicts how I immagined it, even though it's a great artwork. I usually take actual art to heart. XD

Exactly! Making a dragon world myself. I am gonna end up not using art I set as references. XD Though will try and be fairly descriptive. Thank you for your insights and hope to get into this soon!

A book should be able to work without any art - even the maps - but it's nice to have them. ^_^ No rush to get it - not like I will cough up a sequel overnight.

Woah, glad I noticed this thread. Your art is awesome and your book looks really interesting. I am not intimidated by the 700+ page count, either. That just makes me feel more wowed by how much work you've put into writing it. I definitely plan on looking into it.

I believe anatomy is the key to art, even if it's exaggerated - I'm still learning with every picture. ^-^

Just finished reading today! Wow man, you've got some serious talent. I am already feeling withdrawal pains now that its over. I love every single character, I love your worldbuilding, and I have no doubt I'm gonna read the whole thing again some day. If you end up writing a sequel, count on my purchase!

When I was a kid I would devour my favourite novels within a few days of their release and then regret that I had, as I had to wait a year or so for the next adventure. @.@

The eyes of Howlers are slightly brightened by... stuff... which I can't talk about.
The wolves try very hard to look civil, but they just can't compete with them there sophisticated cats.

I think Rafe's more lighthearted personality is a nice contrast with everything else going on in the world. Janoah would actually be my favorite character, but I don't think I'd like her as much if Rafe wasn't there as her partner. They're a good duo.

Ah, Jan, she's a firm favourite.
I don't often talk about my thought processes, but I probably based Rafe's character every heroic ww2 soldier I have ever seen interviewed in documentaries - they are modest, unassuming people, often with a joke and a smile.

I like the tactful use of 'canine' to avoid hurting my feelings. ^_^ He is a wolf. I have seen fair/blonde wolves in zoos, so I went with that for Linus.
