November 17, 2038   7:37 A.M.
The Shield-Neck Police Department (SNPD), Briefing Room

"Alright, quit all your barking and roaring!"

A wolf walked into a briefing room filled with all the staff that would soon be on-duty. The only excluded members that weren't in the room at the time would be custodial staff. The wolf, otherwise known as Chief Feargpaw snarled at the officers that were talking as he entered. Feargpaw stood at 6'7" with a muscular body type. He is a Northwestern wolf with a bad attitude, and doesn't tolerate even the simplest of mistakes. Most Triflepaw officers have grown to dislike him because he is one of the few Triflepaws to ever reach a rank as high as his. Feargpaw often acts in a cold manner, often wanting to end a conversation as quickly as possible. Despite this, however, Feargpaw's parents died when he was close to graduating from high school. This left him with no choice but to drop out and work three jobs to support his 3 younger brothers. When the four joined the police academy as they grew older, their relationship became strained as Feargpaw moved up in the ranks.

The officers took the hint and all chatter shut down. Feargpaw slammed a folder on a podium in the front of the room and took a moment to look at everyone present.

"You all act like immature pups and cubs sometimes." The wolf sighed and opened the folder. He emitted a noticeably loud huff.
"South is acting incredibly worse this month. You know the deal already: gangs, assault, and robbery. However, we've got a few reports of drug labs in a few buildings. You're going to go in teams to sort this out. I don't care how you do it, but make sure this gets me as little paperwork as possible in the end."

The chief then said the names of four officers. "Today's your lucky day, you won't be stuck in a hot building all day. You're taking on the first building reported that has a drug lab. 1120 Grizzly Avenue. Get in there, see what's going down, and figure this out. Simple, right? Right. So don't mess this up. You're now team Alpha, now go get it done."

He began sorting out the rest of the teams, and once he was done, he yelled a snappy "Dismissed!".

Holly Sato
She stood at the back of the crowd, patient, quiet. When she heard the dismissal she trudged back towards her cubicle, thinking of anyway she could do her paperwork faster.

Kai Sato

Padding down a dark alley she headed towards a police block, the one where her sister was. She had to see her sister one more time before her next move.

15 Minutes before the meeting began....

Rioko feels a part of her soul die as the stack of papers work grows steadily larger on her desk. It has gotten to the point where she almost wishes she got assigned toilet cleaning duty today. Both involved cleaning up someone else's explative laden poo, one was just more metephorical than the other.

A first generation Trifflepaw Rioko has no pictures of family to put up on her desk, just a couple of nicknacks and a picture of other lizards like herself all lined up in front of the lab she was created in. A casual observer would have trouble picking her out of the crowd however. Secular work was not kind to a creature made to stalk prey through the jungle.

Rioko's once slender form has widened out, splitting her underbelly scales and causing some trouble for her with the chair she is sitting in. It's one of those specialty chairs made for people with long thick reptile tails. It was cheaply made when they got it and probably made for a creature not as well fed.

The red scaled lizard growls slightly as she tries to get comfortable in her chair. She has to sit sideways but now the chair is up too high, she struggles with the adjustment knobb, wobbling it violently as the chair goes up and down. Once she finds the right height Rioko relaxes a bit, getting ready to process this paper work. She leans backward and

CRACK

The chair pops, leaning backward and nearly throwing Rioko out of it. With a Savage yell she turns, "DIE EVIL LITTLE THING!"

A moment later the door opens and a cheetah finds the reptile tearing into her chair with her teeth and claws. The awkward pause that ensues seems to last forever. "YesSSSsssSs?"

 "Uh...team meeting in ten."

"Oh! Thanks I will be right there. I was just um..." Rioko looks to the gutted remains of her chair, "It doesn't matter. I'll be there soon." A small part of her didn't know why it mattered. No one would give her an assignment anyway, not in a million years...

/Now./

"Holy..." Rioko has to take a double take. The chief really called her name? There wasn't some other Rioko here was there? Rioko waits until after the meeting before she Chase's down the wolf. "Hey! Hey boss! Is it true? Am I really on team Alpha?" The lizard rubs her arm nervously, "Does this mean I will be on more assignments later on? Who am I taking orders from? Does this mean I get to use the a weapon again?!" She asks with perhaps too much excitement.

"I mean it's ok if I don't but, it has been over a year since...you know..." Her voice trails off.

(I promise not to make all my poses this long xD also you are free to make up what the 'incodent' was if you want or leave it ambiguous c:)

The chief ceased walking to look at the officer. When he was about to speak, he spotted team Bravo moving quite slow as they walked to their lockers.
"Move your pelts!" The wolf barked. The group quickly ran on their heels, one officer even yelping in surprise.

Feargpaw turned back around.
"You're on Alpha, that is correct. Depending on if your team actually gets this done correctly, you all may have the privilege of getting to go on patrols more often. I'm assigning you with leading this team, being that you're more experienced than this group of immature rookies. I want this to be a clean job; only use your weapons if you have to." He paused, and lowered his voice.

"And if you so much as hurt an innocent civilian with no probable cause...I'll make sure you're on toilet duty for the next month..." The chief took a step back and called another officer over.

The officer was a white Bengal tiger that stood at six feet tall, and was slightly more muscular than the chief was. He had a noticeably large scar that ran across his neck.

"This is officer Gaireson. He's one of the officers that will be joining your team. The rest will meet you in the parking lot when you're ready to go...and by ready to go, I mean in 10 minutes or less. Get to it."
The chief turned around and began walking back to his office.

(It's fine. The longer the better.)

Holly Sato

She heard lots of commotion and yelling as she swam through the crowds. She shook her head,
Did he call may name?
What could that mean?
Would I have to fight Kai?
Again?

Kai Sato

Even from the outside, much noise could be heard. She shook her head, "They should have better discipline. Geez. Get Holly running the place you might even catch me..." she muttered in disgust. She grabbed the irrigation pole and used it and little footholds to climb up. She was wearing dark clothes, so anybody looking up would just see black. She climbed up to about the level with Holly's cubicle and she pulled herself up to the window, she waved, hoping that Holly would see her as she walked to her cubicle.

Holly Sato

Holly shook her head, she rushed to the window, letting it up a bit they had a conversation on the whereabouts of a fake drug factory. Holly didn't like the fraud, but knew it was the only way to climb the ranks. She straitened as Kai dropped to the ground and ran. Holly turned on her heel and went to her cubicle to get shoes more suitable and her gear, running down the stairs she slipped it on. She made it to the parking lot and stood with two other rookies. She at least had been on a few patrols before.

(I hope I can do this or was she not called... *shrug* dunno)

It takes all of Rioko's will poer to not squeal with joy. Genetically altered murder monsters do not squeal on delight. She however leans backward when his second order about civilian casualties is give. "Y-yes sir. I learned my lesson from the last time." She Continues to smile, more lip less teeth, just like she has learned to smile for their human overlords with out causing them discomfort.
Although in all fairness that punk from a year ago totally had it coming to him either way. Well, maybe not exactly the mauling she gave him but he still had SOMETHING coming to him.

She turns to the tiger nodding her head regarding him as a fellow professional. "Excuse me while I take a quick trip to the armory. Good hunting sir."

Holly

She stood awkwardly in the parking lot, checking on her katar. Sharp as ever still. She used it a lot, but took good care of it.

Kai

She rushed back towards one of the real drug factories, smacking a few humans in the head when she got there. "Work faster, maggots. We got a patrol on it's way. Only leave a little of the drugs and equipment here. The others, move it to Base 1 out of the Shield-Neck territory." She turned to the triflepaws who grimaced under her stare. "Make sure the humans do their jobs. You heard what I said to. Get to it."

They all replied in a uniform manner. "Yes Butterfly." She nodded with satisfaction.

In ten minutes, both Alpha and Bravo stood outside in the parking lot wishing each other good luck. Team Alpha's building location was already pinpointed on each GPS in their vehicles. Officer Gaireson would be driving one of the undercover vans. Three other officers would assist them: a ram, a lion, and a jaguar.

Team Bravo had made their way out towards their destination, now it was down to Alpha to head out.

Rioko arrives a minute after the ten minute deadline. Gone is her blue uniform, gone is the friendly awkward cap normally worn to put humans at ease.

The lizard is wearing body armor in the form of a bullet proof vest and a pair of blue cargo pants. A badge is pinned to her vest.

It feels good to have a pistol strapped to her hip again. She was trained with the rifle but she wasn't going to press her luck. She was already hostile looking enough, adding a rifle to the mix would be...overkill.

"Oh hey! Look at you!" She says to the little fennec fox. "Bet you are happy to be out from behind a desk. I know I am." Rioko steps into the police van.

She snorted "Of course I'm glad, I was about to rip most of it. I'm sure you are even happier to be off the paperwork."

She looked up at the lizard as her height was very short. "So Rioko, how dyo think this one is going to go?"

Kai Sato

Rushing on, she helped the other incompetent triflepaws to move all the equipment and drugs except a few vials and a dispersed pound of a common street drug. Cocaine, with a slight bit of heroine.

The van sped off into the road. Officer Gaireson figured he'd try to lighten the mood by beat-boxing, which he happened to be quite good at. Another officer played along by tapping his handcuffs on the side of the van. This went on until they approached their destination, and the beat quickly died off. The building was evidently poorly managed. The paint was chipping off, stains of some liquid that could only be liquid decorated the walls, and graffiti expressed the story of how many gangs were in the area. The van came to a stop, and Gaireson was the first to step out.

"Oh...my..." Were the first words to escape his jaws as he examined the building.

The ram stepped out after him, shaking his head. It was a terrible sight indeed, but many buildings were close to ending up like that. Gaireson turned around, looking at Rioko with eyes of uncertainty.

"How do we go about this...?"
Title: Re: The South of Town [Open, Apply In The OOC Sheet]
Post by: coolcoyote on June 19, 2017, 10:44:55 PM
Rioko was tapping her foot along with the beat as the van speed along the highway. "Don't you know it! Another month behind the desk and I would fit inside this van!" She laughed.

When the van stops Rioko cringes at the sight of the building but for completely different reasons. Rioko was designed for warfare, sure, JUNGLE warefare. Hunting down guerillas as a pack through dense trees and heavy fauna.

The original team that designed her and her brethren never intended for them to set foot in urban areas. Someone getting mailed by Trifflepaws was already a PR nightmare, imagine how much worse it would be if they were eaten by a cheap dinosaur clone?

"Once the warrant clears we head straight to the target. I doubt the manager will mind the damage we do..." She jokes while gesturing to the building and feeling slightly guilty about making it. Not everyone gets to live in a fancy appartment with a shower designed to her species like she does. " Doorknockers go first, we arrest everyone inside. Would be my suggestion." She adds as an after thought. After all it would be impropper for her to order about the tiger in charge.

"It's going to be narrow inside, lots of places to hide. We should stick together. No heroics. The place will be filled with many of our trifflepaw brethren, and not all of them are gang members. So be easy on the trigger finger."

Rioko may be a fat bellied genetically altered murder machine, but that is no excuse to exurcise poor self control. Of course, she's never been in a fire fight, not a true one anyway...

She smiled at the reptile, "Ah it's fine, I'm sure we'll do good. I hope I do, so I can enjoy my last few years alive."

Kai Sato

She stayed behind to incriminate the scene as the others ran. She could hear the vans outside. "Hope this goes well..." She slipped on a black scarf and waited for them to break an entry.

Officer Gaireson nodded, and pointed to the ram.
"You heard her. Toghoof and I will breach the doors. Keep your eyes open and, well, noses sharp...as much as you can, at least."

This caused a few chuckles from a few officers. Gaireson stepped aside for a moment to communicate with someone on his walkie-talkie. He then walked back to the group.

"We're good to go. We've got reports that someone was seen leaving the scene about 20 minutes ago. We're instructed to not follow them. Anything we see, we bag up. The lab is downstairs on the last floor. This mission has to be in and out, we've got a few more buildings to hit. I think this will go well."

He gave one last smile before motioning the group to follow him. The tiger then began walking towards the building.

"Wait what?" The reptile asks Holly but before she can press for details the tiger gives them orders. "Yes sir!" The beast falls into line with the others. Once inside she places a paw on her pistol with out drawing it. She hisses at any beast who steps out into the Hall to get back inside. No need for looky-lues to get themselves injured.

She heard them getting ready to break the door. She threw one vial at the door, covering it in cocaine. Then she ran downstairs to what is left of the emptied out lab.

Gaireson's right ear twitched violently. He smelled something, coming from the second floor. Possibly something else going on. He turned his head halfway towards the group.

"Toghoof and I are gonna check out the second floor...the rest of you should still head downstairs. We'll keep our communications open."
Gaireson followed the smell as he went upstairs, the ram close behind.

The smell grew increasingly worse. The second floor, once they were there, reeked of something indescribable.

She crept in behind the others, her nose picking up something strong. She looked down, to see the ground littered with glass and a white powdery substance. Cocaine. She shook her head and continued.

Kai Sato

She started coming back up to the first level, but heard voices already. She stopped at the stairwell, and took a secret tunnel to the next drug factory. She pushed a small section in the wall and it hinged open, she slipped through then pushed some heavy stones against it so it couldn't be accidentally discovered. She dashed through the tunnel to warn the next lab.

"What did I just say about splitting up?" The lizard comments through gritted teeth. But the tiger is charge so she doesn't argue.

Rioko has never smelled cocain before but it's hard to deny the smell that assaults her enanched animal senses. "Whoa! Ye-ap. This is the place alright." She raps her fist against the door, "This is the police! Open the door."

She stands off to the side for a few seconds for an answer before drawing her pistol. She sends a kick at the door, aiming to bust it open.

There was a room at the very end of the hall on the second floor. It gave off a terrible smell.

"Something's not right..." Gaireson approached the room and knocked on the door. It opened at ease, as if it was never locked. The tiger and ram walked into the room, pistols carefully drawn. The smell was so bad that Gaireson's eyes were watering. Towards the back of the room there was a small package with no name that it was addressed to. After calling out a few times, they confirmed the room was empty, as well as checking all rooms.

It only took 10 seconds.

Gaireson carefully looked at the package closely, but realized oil was leaking out of it. His eyes deadened with realization.
But it was too late.

As they turned to run, the package blew up, sending both Gaireson and Toghoof through the window. The room was engulfed by flames almost immediately and would soon spread to the hallway. Toghoof died on instant impact with the ground, a broken neck confirming it. Gaireson was still alive, but was bleeding out badly.

The door down stairs bursts open the moment the explosion rocks the building. Rioko falls flat on her face, shouting, "It's not my fault!"

Suddenly the drug bust is no longer that important, "Upstairs! We need to get up stairs," picking herself up Rioko passes one last look at the room she busted into before turning for the stairs...

Gaireson tried to call out for help, but he merely choked on blood. He looked over at Toghoof. His lifeless body was too much to look at. Turning his head away, he thought of what went wrong. How this could have been avoided, and his friend would have been alive. It had all gone so wrong so quickly. He tried to crawl away, but the pain was too much to endure. He could barely hear out of his right ear, the left one seemed fine.

Rioko lingers in the building after the fennec. Despite the injuries to her camrads she still has a duty to the citizens to. She finds a fire alarm...and then a second when the first doesn't go off. As alarm bells ring out Rioko appears through the door, weapon in hand as she slides next to the fallen tiger. "Blazes! Uh, just hang in there boss. Help is on the way." Is help on the way? Blast it! Rioko curses herself for not calling for help sooner.

She reaches for her radio. "Officers down. We need a bus. There has been an explosion." Rioko looks up at where the tiger and ram were thrown from the window as she gives the operator all the relevant codes for the situation and location. "Blazes!" She curses again.

Gaireson was gasping for air. All the breath had been knocked out of him the second he had hit the ground. Through all of this pain, however, he felt tired. A part of him just wanted to shrivel up and die. Breathing in general was such a task. With each deep breath he took, he ended up coughing.

He accidentally glanced at Toghoof and threw up. His dizziness had overwhelmed him again.

She knew one of the officers was dead, but Gaireson was still alive. She saw him throw up, dizziness. She took vest off and tore a piece of the Kevlar with her katar, desperation fueling her. She let him breath a second, then put the kevlar in his mouth as a bite guard. Then she slapped him to get his nerves going.

"You aren't dying today! Toghoof might be dead, but are you gonna let him down!? Finish what you and he started!"

Then she began to tear pieces off her shirt, binding the bleeding wounds.

She looked up, her fur matted with sweat and Officer Gaireson's blood. Her eyes were frightened, shaken, but her hands and voice were steady.

"Rioko, how long till they get here? He won't last very long without serious medical attention."

Rioko only raises an eyebrow to the fox's medical intervention.  To be fair her own method of treating an injury might be a bit...lacking. There were rumors in her unit that the genetists who crafted them had tried to give them the ability to regrow lost limbs, supposedly. Rioko certainly never wanted to try and find out the answer.

It is one of the many thoughts that run through Rioko's mind as she simply stares at her first, and possibly second, corps. "Huh? Oh! T-three minutes." She composed herself as much as she can. "Officer, look at me. What happened. Who did this to you?"

Gaireson's eyes moved sickeningly slow in the direction of the two officers. They were eyes of pain, confusion, and fear. He couldn't stop wondering where the emergency services were. Why were they taking so long? Out of habit, the tiger attempted to reach a bloodied paw over to use his walkie-talkie, but it ultimately fell short.

Sirens could be heard in the distance, finally, after 10 painful minutes. The responding emergency units stepped out of the ambulance truck in a manner that was way too slow for Gaireson to believe. This was an emergency, why were those two panthers moving slower than turtles? He wanted to scream as they pulled out the stretcher as if this were a training exercise.

Untrained. Gaireson thought.

Those panthers have barely been trained at all. The government had let the Shield-Neck go so far downhill that they believed initiates that were barely trained were ready for real situations. He could tell by their clumsiness, the way they dropped the stretcher so many times. How uncoordinated they were. It sent a pang of sorrow and realization through him. He didn't think the system would be that bad. If he wasn't dying physically, he definitely died emotionally.

The paramedics could only think of this as training, not a situation they were prepared for. It would explain their slow movements. They're shocked about how serious the situation is. Every second wasted by the slow paramedics was a second the tiger considered closing his eyes to end all of the pain.

She sighed. They would take a while. She tried to get the Officer on her back, she succeeded due to the experimental triflepaw strength, abd began to carry him slowly past the paramedics fumbling with stretcher. She glared at them making them drop the stretcher again. She made it to the van, halfing the time that the paramedics would have taken. "You're living dammit!" she screamed through gritted teeth. Setting him down in the back of the ambulance truck and gestured for the paramedics to get in the truck. Then she hopped into the back to sit with the officer.

"Rioko! Continue the search! Don't let an officer's death be in vain!"

Rioko spends her time waiting for the medical team to arrive by directing people out of the building and away from the danger. It keeps her from being near the possibly mortaly wounded tiger.

Rioko nods to the fox, "Just watch after him." With that the reptile once again braves the apartment complex, dashing inside. She would continue the hunt from the second floor. Despite her urge to go after the criminals responsible for this her first priority is the safety of the trifflepaw community. A community who might be injured or wounded after such a blast...

Fighting death was a battle Gaireson wasn't ready to fight yet. Of course, he was trained for situations like this, but when it came to the moment of truth...he was scared. He thought the government wouldn't let the Shield-Neck go to absolute hell to this point, but he was proven wrong. He wanted to fight for Toghoof, for so many innocent Triflepaws that probably die everyday because of the corruption that is going on around them.

Of course, time was proving that he was losing this battle. He wasn't sure whether he was happy or sad at this point. He just felt lost, and broken. He felt tired, again, and it was seemingly overwhelming him. The tiger's head was slowly drifting to the side as he kept on fighting.

She sat there worried, trying her best to keep Gaireson up and alive. She could tell his fur was already beginning to clot his fur.

John

A 5 year old only. He had been forced to live in this horrible place because his adopters were triflepaws. The blast almost killed him, but he was still alive. His legs were pinned down by a large beam of broken concrete. "Help! Anybody!"

Finally, after 15 agonizing minutes, they made it to a hospital. Trained staff, humans nonetheless, took over. Their fear of Gaireson was apparent as they were nearly hesitant to take the tiger into the hospital. The officer avoided eye contact with any of them, as to not make them unconformable. It was out of habit. Even doctors, those who were supposed to help others, went out of their way to not look at Gaireson unless absolutely necessary.

She sighed at the sheer situation and state of the police force by now. She left running at about the speed of the truck, driven by the panthers, back towards the building.

Another group of officers were already arriving at the building. They seemed pretty reluctant to have to leave the office, as they assumed the explosion was Team Alpha's fault. The most noticeable of the group was a leopard. He stood just above six feet tall, and was the obvious brawler of the group. However, he didn't appear to be an officer. He was armed with more gear than the others. There was no badge to identify him as a part of the Shield-Neck Police Department either.

Knowing this, and that he wasn't detained by the means of handcuffs, he could only be one other thing:
A mercenary. Mercenaries weren't commonly seen with the police unless they absolutely had to. In this case, a bomb that went off in a building of a drug lab was a means of concern.

One of the perks of being a trifflepaw was obviously the enhanced senses, or at least what humans called enhanced. Hearing, smell and sight. The humans only gave their murder beasts the best after all, made them better at murdering other beasts Rioko guessed.

And right now everyone of them were useless. Just, useless. The smoke that stung at her Rioko's eyes also filled her nose, making it difficult to navigate the already maze like building. The alarm BLARED in her ears, drowning out all sound. Eventually she heard the child's cry for help, but only after getting closer to the blast area. "Hello? Is some one there?" Rioko shouts.

The leopard whistled. "Now that was an explosion."

About a few minutes later, fire trucks had arrived. Firefighters began to extinguish the remaining flames while the mercenary talked with a few officers. They had all assumed that the building was empty, which is why they barely checked to see who else was in there. Of course, however, the police department was driven insane with confusion.

Even with directions it takes Rioko a moment to find the door. It is the second door she kicks in today and her leg is getting rather soar.

The door splinters as it falls inward, with fire and smoke highlighting her already red features Rioko appears through the entry way like a large preditory monster filled with teeth and claws. "I'm here to help you..." She says in a deep gravely voice due to the smoke irritating her throat. Eyes glowing in the darkness she spots the child and moves to help.

(What does the child look like? Also car died today so response will be slow. Also... don't we have a forth player now?)

The lizard leans down over the child. After several years on a rich diet lifting the debris off of him is no easy task. Rioko strains and bellows out a loud groan until she tosses the wood off of him. Gasping for breath Rioko gags on smoke. "Wrap your arms around my neck, tightly."

Rioko grabs the child, hoisting him over her back. Rio takes a step out into the hallway before the flames push her back in. "Now is an excellent time to panic..." She says out loud. Her eyes scan the room for a second exit locking o to the window. A second later a chair goes flying through it.

Navigating her bulk through the narrow window is ...awkward to say the least, and impossible to do with out cutting herself on broken glass. "Hold on!" Rioko says before securing herself on the wall and beginning the slow climb down...

(Car died on Monday, got a new one yesterday xD)

He clung tight to the lizard, concrete, glass and split scales scrapping his legs. He didn't care as long as he lived. "T-thank you..." He coughed, smoke filling his lungs.

The leopard's ears twitched violently as he looked towards the building once more. Looking at the group of officers he was talking to with a side-eye, he began walking to the side of the building.

"I don't think you guys properly checked through there."

He immediately saw the chair, and looked up. "Oh...I'd ask how you two are doing, but I'm guessing that's a bit obvious."

Rioko assures the child everything is going to be ok by gaging as the child does wrqp his arms around her neck. Who knew children were so heavy. Just a little farther, thinks rioko, just a little farther and they are...

Riojo's paw slips from the side of the building. Panic fills her heart as she begins to lean backward, losing her grip. "No no nononono noooooooo!" Rioko cries as she and her charge plumet to their death!

Three feet below them.

The lizard lands roughly on her rump, eyes blinking in confusion. "Right...I uh...ment to do that." She stands, depositing the child on the ground. "Thank you for flying air Rioko..." Her nervous laughter dies off slowly.

A blacked-out sedan rolled up to the police line, and a purple raccoon dismounted. His large, brown duster caught the breeze. His hat blocked the upper portions of his face, but a look of concern danced across his lips. He walked up to the highest ranking officer he could, and nodded. "Ray Blackburn, what's the haps?"

"I'll be back." The snow leopard gently patted the kid's arm, carefully with his claws sheathed, and he jogged up to the raccoon.

He sometimes hated how much gear he had to have on. Of course, he was used to it, but at first it was heavy and made him clunky. As he moved up in the ranks, however, he was allowed to mix and match his own gear. He was wearing a Kevlar bulletproof vest underneath a black biker vest. To top it off, he wore a checkered-style scarf.

As the mercenary slowed down, he greeted him with an appropriate nod.

"Hey there. I'm sure you saw the...uh..." He pointed to the building. "That. Are you here to investigate?"

Hey guys, this is just a helpful warning to be careful about discussion of criminal activities within the thread. So far this thread has been generally fine but we've seen some people get a little bit too close with inappropriate material (talking about drugs and stuff). So just try to be careful about the setting and keep it PG. Thanks!

Ray nodded, drew a cigarette from his coat, and placed it between his lips unlit. "Did your men cordon he area? Did anyone see anybody leave?" Ray withdrew his other paw, a metal cybernetic prosthetic, and flicked his thumb if it were a lighter. A small flame ignited on the tip of the thumb, as Ray brought it to his cigarette. After the thing lit up, Ray flailed his paw slightly and the flame went out.

"Bien, no puede ponerse mucho peor." [Well, it can't get much worse.]

Were the final words Victor uttered as he quickly moved down the sidewalk, occasionally glancing behind him. Then he heard the explosion, followed by sirens.

"Oh bueno, puede empeorar." [Oh good, it can get worse.]

Groaning, the wolf placed a paw on his face and yanked off his beret in anger. It was a simple plan, it was impeccable. Now, half the police force was heading to the building, and god knows what happened prior to the explosion.  The canine was told this would be simple, he would deliver the package, he would be inconspicuous, and he would be paid. Looking down through his sunglasses, the wolf eyed the small paper packet he had hidden inside his button up shirt and shook his head. Obviously, he wouldn't be getting paid any time soon.

Reluctantly, the wolf decided to check out the building from afar, and get any details on what happened. Sighing, Victor placed his beret back on his head and started towards the large smoke plume rising into the sky. Luckily, the street was mostly empty, aside from another ambulance blazing by, at the moment due to poor weather. Through the rain however, Victor did notice a lone fox with an umbrella heading in the same direction.

"Well, uh..."
The leopard made a few more gestures to the roof of the building.

"There's a few, but unless you want to risk falling through the floor or having debris fall on you, you'd have a pretty rough time getting up there. Of course, being the stunning daredevil I am...that may not be a challenge." He had said the last sentence to himself, quietly.

"It's hard to get a hold of the whole situation now. We'll get the ones who did this, no sweat."

His optimism was something that was quite noticeable, and not just because he was being paid. He always loved a good chase when the time came for one.

Ray shook his head, taking another drag on his cigarette before walking towards the building. "Better find what's left before it's gone, eh daredevil?" Ray figured the best place to start would be the worst place; the production floor. A single hair, a little blood, maybe a survivor, any would at least get the ball rolling.

As a child would, the leopard laughed enthusiastically. Optimism was always something that he enforced in a conversation, and not just because he gets paid a hefty amount of money for what he does.

"That shouldn't be a problem! We'll find something, no doubt."

Ray said nothing, running like a man possessed. As they reached a very downtrodden part of town, the raccoon pulled the mercenary behind a graffiti and muck covered dumpster. "Stay down and keep quiet. I know the guy, yeah. Michal 'Fast Arty' Arturo. Reliable source for underground operations. He must've been curious about the factory."

A voice, raspy and mocking, emanated from the dumpster. "You know, Detective. Y'can jus' ask me." From between Ray and the tiger, a stringy chameleon fellow seemed to peel out of the grime, his smile wide.

Ray sighed and stood. "Mich, good to see ya."

"De pleasure's all mine, Detective. Mich slapped Ray's back good naturedly. "Y'don't come poppin' up 'roun' here much, wha's de occasion?" One eye rolled to look at the merc, looking him up and down. "Who's'a muscles?"
