Title: Next Anime
Post by: Willow the Jerboa on May 20, 2017, 12:53:03 AM
So my friend got me into One Punch Man and I absolutely loved it!

Is there any other good anime that y'all recommend for someone who is very new?

Here have fun going through this x.x

Mob Psycho 100 is from the same creator
Full metal Alchemist Brotherhood is really good.
If you want something to destroy your emotions. Watch Clannad, Ereased/ Boku dake ga inai machi, Koe no Katachi/ A silent Voice, Ano hana, Grave of the FireFlies (That's so obviously sad I don't want to watch it).
If you want some romance, ToraDora, Sakurajo no Pet no kanojo (Echi kinda meaning it's a bit perverted still good though), Kamisama Kiss/ Kamisama Hajimemashita
Magi is really funny and full of Action.
Something bloody but good: Re:zero and Tokyo Ghoul. (Both action.)
Some good mecha (Basically people in Giant Robots fighting.): Guren Laggen, Eureka Seven, and Evangeleon (The movies of Evangeleon are probably more interesting and easier to watch than the actual original ones.) And Gundam 00 is usually said to be good.
Something furry... The only furry anime movie that's modern, Bakemono no ko. Beast's child.
Something gay: Yuri on ice. I dunno if that's your cup of tea, but at the store I work at it's like a lot of fangirls are requesting this. Like hardcore.  Like I said this is probably kinda yaoi ish. It's not a bad anime though don't me wrong.
Fairytail is also kind of echi, but it's action and comedy is really good.

Basically, Anything from a company called: shonen Jump is worth watching. Basically they own both of the two longest running modern anime at the moment and also they own Dragon Ball And Death Note. (A lot of the stuff higher on the list is worth a watch... maybe above 20-25?)
http://www.ranker.com/list/best-shonen-jump-anime/ranker-anime (http://www.ranker.com/list/best-shonen-jump-anime/ranker-anime)
(Also they forgot to add. Samurai X to that list and Trigun while worth a watch is not from this company.)
If you're into REALLY inappropriate humor Gintama is good with its comedy and action and being able to become a serious anime. It's a slow start so skipping the first 20 episodes might not be a bad idea.  But the other issue is that it pokes fun of other anime, and thus some jokes you might not understand as well as the fact that some jokes are based on whatever was a popular joke/meme at the time in Japan.

There's a lot of good new anime, but nothing beats '90's anime. If you like old school, check some of these out.

Trigun (Personal favorite, first anime ever seen. Based in the apocalypse, follows a wanted man named Vash and two insurance agents trying to get restitution from him for destroying a wHOLE TOWN. Great action sequences, hilarious and tear-wrenching. Highly recommend.)

Blue Gender (Almost like Starship Troopers but mixed with mech suits. Somewhat gory and just plain hardcore.)

Cowboy Bebop (Wow, what can I say? A pure legend, a space scifi following a group of mercenaries just trying to make money and not get shot. Also highly recommend as it's somewhat long term for an anime series so you won't binge through it quickly.)

Yu Yu Hakisho (A damn good manga and an even better anime. Typical jerkwad teen dies doing a good thing and becomes a spirit detective. Awesome story and fight sequences.)

Ghost in the Shell (Both the 1995 film and anime series, they are just great. The idea of putting your mind in a cyborg is insane but GITS hit the idea out of the park. Highly recommend.)

Initial D (Probably one of the most unique animes out there, this one is based on the street racing culture in 1990s' Japan. If you can handle the animation evolution throughout the many seasons and specials, you'll love it.)

Just a few good ones, in my opinion. I've always had a soft spot for the anime that I grew up with, so I had to recommend them.
