Hello everyone :)


Especially this first post seems rather huge and informative, but not to worry!
Summarised this is a roleplay meant to help a few select members into roleplaying while also having some more experienced roleplayers partake as a storyline progresses.



!!! Please read before posting !!!
Send me a PM before posting on this thread with your character sheet. Once I accept the character sheet can you post your character sheet and join the RP.
There is a possibility of being declined, such as keeping the RP group small and tight-knit. Having lots of people would defeat the purpose I am trying to strive. I would also like to see people in this RP willing to learn how to roleplay, and trying their best with their posts by (for example) being descriptive.



To keep track of when it's someone's turn, here is a turn order list.
Behind each name you will see the name of the character they are roleplaying with a link to go to that character's information sheet.

TURN ORDER:


I'll be the 'Roleplay Host'. This means a couple of things:
1) If I think the story/roleplay is progressing nicely and people seem to be ready for the next 'part', a new chapter will start.
2) I will also introduce 'facts' and information I feel might be important for the story/roleplay. If you have ideas or suggestions to throw in information, please talk to me first about it to see if it will fit in the story/rp.
3) In general I will lead where and when the RP takes place. E.g. we're starting off at the Training Facility, but might move on to a mission and off the Training Facility.



Premise:
(In order to streamline the roleplay a bit new participants will start off as follows: )

You're new to the advanced military (or AMi or AdMi, as to not confuse with AM, time).
You can be either human (basic or enhanced) or a genetically enhanced creature (furry/anthro).
Human (not enhanced)? You belong in the AdMi for classical troopers.
Enhanced human or creature? You belong in the AdMi for edited troopers.
In both cases you will form with others a small group who you will train with and go on missions together.

As a human (enhanced or not) you have come from the Military services and they thought you to be good enough for the Advanced Military.
As an enhanced creature you have been born in captivity and raised to fight for the Advanced Military. You would have started in the Military to receive basic training and various other skill sets, to be soon moved on to the Advanced Military. You overall would have not profited from any education or of any freedom. Anything you would want to do, such as education and starting a family, would require permission from any supervisors or caretakers.

You'll be partaking in severe training (together with the other troopers' groups) to be prepared for optimal combat capability and possible future special (secret) operations.
In the past enhanced creatures were not too intelligent, but as demand grew for smarter creatures to combat resistance groups and more efficiency, more and more smarter creatures have emerged. And as time and worries grew, these enhanced creatures got a controlling chip implemented. This chip would make them forget their past and make them follow and obey any command any human would give them (especially higher-ranking human soldiers). They have been made tame to obey humans, but not necessarily lost their personality, just to tone down any questioning and aggressive personality traits.
Only the strongest and/or smartest are allowed to join the Military or Advanced Military.

Enhanced creatures, except all but the very first batches produced, have been implemented with a controlling chip.
Humans or semi-enhanced humans would not have a chip unless they showed signs of severe disobedience or other troubling matters.
Humans which have been fully enhanced are checked on a case-by-case basis if a controlling chip is necessary.
 
You will be trained and lead by a pair of rather seemingly rude/aggressive bears: Pandadox and Sergeant Cold. (Two rather large and buff bears, one is a panda bear, the other a polar bear.)

The known universe to humans has fallen into a few select groups. It is your job to help the AdMi to regain unity.
In the meantime, you might find out certain mysteries relating to the AdMi and its members... It might change your perspective and there is the possibilty you might question your loyalty to your leaders and rulers.


The groups are as follows:

1) Rulers (you are a part of this group);
The military and advanced military are parts of performing acts on behalf of the 'Rulers'.
This group consists of humans who created the enhanced creatures and claim ownership and dominion over them. Anyone in this group, be it human or enhanced creature, is severely against independence of enhanced creatures, so be wary of traitors from both sides.

2) Claimers;
Rebels and other alliances going against the Rulers, this is lead by a variety of factions or groups, while not always agreeing with each other, they have become more organised over time and winning over more and more (humans and enhanced alike). Their goal is to bring peace and order, making sure all living beings are treated equally.

3) Resurgence;
This is the smallest of the groups. It only consists out of enhanced creatures and human slaves. These do not want either other group to win but will benefit the Claimers from time to time if it helps their own goals.

Rules:

1) Keep your character sheet 'realistic'. This may be in the future, but such things as magic, dragons, etc. are concepts that do not exist. If you have a character which can somehow change form or shape, try to explain why they can through technology/science/biology. It needs to be believable that it can work in theory. (If you're unsure what is and is not possible in this RP universe, please ask :) )
2) No Godmodding or having overpowering powers (do not be OP). Set up a character with strengths and weaknesses.
3) No taking over someone else's character (unless they expressed permission).
4) Take any information the RP host(s) provides into consideration when posting.
5) Proper spelling, grammar and punctuation. (An error here or there is allowed ;) )
6) Be consistent in the writing style*.
7) While not necessarily working turn-based here, when posting take into consideration others might not be able to respond quickly. Therefor this RP is relaxed, semi-relaxed with regards to time-posting. If posting goes too fast, I might step in to request a halt so others have a chance to catch up. Please be considerate of others :)
8) (Not so much a rule as more of a request: ) Would you want to quit the RP? Try to let me know. Either you or (if allowing me) I can write your character out of the story (MIA, KIA, sent home, or another reason).


* = Writing style is for everyone different, but when someone is speaking, please write something like so:

My turn to implement the characters Pandadox and Sgt. Cold :P


Character Sheet:

Name: Pandadox
Age: 32
Species: Giant Panda

Traits: Extreme strength.
Personality: Does not speak much, closed off (introverted) and generally does not seem to want to bond or does not how to. Having a rather 'cold' personality, yet can be sometimes easily angered and is extremely hard to calm down. Has an extreme dislike for humans (enhanced or not enhanced).

Background history: Pandadox was one of the few first more intelligent enhanced creatures to join the Military, later on the Advanced Military. His parents (normal feral Giant Pandas) were killed -accidentally- by rebels invading a lab where he was being raised. The goal was to actually free the creatures, but the plan went horribly wrong. He was still really young. When 'offered' to join the Military afterwards, he agreed, thinking the rebels killed his parents on purpose, fuelling his anger and desire for revenge. There have been ups and downs and sometimes he has tried to run away from the Military, realising that the rebels might not be the real reason his parents were killed, only to be brought back to base. Due to one of his aggressive outbursts he had been chipped, he was also one of the first to try out the prototypes. It had some flaws and because of a malfunction he nearly killed a higher-ranking human. The chip had since then been replaced a few times with newer models, but during his last combat it was disabled. Pandadox has kept silent he has regained his memories and entire personality, and has tried to control his anger to the best of his abilities. This has worked thanks to Larry Cold, who he sees like a father or older brother (the only one who is aware Pandadox's chip malfunctioning).

Other noteworthy facts, traits, interests: In the facility where Pandadox was born and raised the researchers had performed several tests and experiments. This lead to Pandadox having the ability to shoot up in flames in the shape of a grizzly bear three times his size, which only shows when angered (triggered :P ). It is hard to control and the AdMi has shown interest in this ability once they found out, subjucating him to several tests to provoke and understand the power.
The only ones aware of this ability are the leading ranks and it is kept top-secret.

Occupation/Rank: Corporal.
Speciality: Trainer.
Chipped or not? Yes, but disabled.
Favoured weapon or skill: His fists or a huge gravity-based hammer.



Character Sheet:

Name: Larry Bismarck Cold
Age: 54 (nearing 55)
Species: Polar Bear.
Reference/Looks: Comparatively taller and more buff than his black-and-white counterpart, Pandadox, his white fur has a grey-yellow sheen to it due to old age. He has quite a couple of large scars on his back, arms and legs. Whereas smaller scars run across his face and hands, and even one across his black nose. His right ear is a bit chipped off at the top.
Traits: Strategy.
Personality: Will not speak unless necessary. Stern yet helpful, especially towards new recruits. Does not let emotions get the best of him and will address problems very professionally and quickly.

Background history: One of the first (enhanced) creatures to be placed into the Military, Cold ranked up really quickly and was the first to join the Advanced Military as an anthropomorphic animal. As expected he was often picked on by the other soldiers, who were at the time all human. He had no other option than to stay. Most of the larger scars, which are hidden by clothes and such, are caused by whippings, lashings, and other physical bullying by his fellow soldiers. The smaller and more visible scars are usually from combat.

Other noteworthy facts, traits, interests: Pandadox was put immediately under Cold's care once he entered the Military as well. Cold was a Specialist himself at the time and was soon to be promoted to Corporal. The reason for Pandadox being brought under Cold's care was that only another enhanced creature might be able to 'tame' the Giant Panda. While Cold did manage over a long period of time to teach Pandadox to control himself a bit more, and the two bonded rather strongly, Pandadox's anger issues never completely faded away. Regardless, Cold sees him kind of like a son he never had. He always tries to see things realistically, neither being (too) optimistic or (too) pessimistic.

Occupation/Rank: Sergeant.
Speciality: Trainer.
Chipped or not? No.
Favoured weapon or skill: He always makes sure to take at least one of his two trusty knives with him wherever he goes, which are both a Karambit/Kerambit.

Traits: Keeping his cool, being stealthy, trustworthy
Personality: Avoids conversations and tries to act instead of talking, in battle he works alone.
Background history: Herodion Hyacinthus better known as Vortex Cynbel today was a human before he joined AdMi. His mother died when he was young, as for his father, he was an alcoholic and was always abusing Herodion. One day he hit Herodion with a crowbar. That’s how he got the scar on his right eye. After that he ran away from his “family” roaming around on the city. One day an agent of AdMi found him and offered him a way to become “better”/”enhanced”. Herodion didn’t have to loose anything so he accepted his offer changing his identity and becoming a mutated anthro wolf creature known as Vortex Cynbel.
Other facts: Vortex used to have an imaginary friend due to him being lonely during breaks at school. But this backfired since it was the main reason he was bullied at school being outcast even more. In the end he stopped talking to him. Truth be told though when he fights it seems he is talking to someone, most likely still his imaginary friend

Favoured weapon: A metal shaft having a knife from one side and a teaser-like spark producing machine from the other and a bow and arrow.

Species: Human
Reference/Looks: Young, caucasian, blue eyes and brown hair. 180cm tall and 80kg heavy. Has some muscle from Military training.
Traits: Cunning, Strategy, Following Orders, Loyal
Personality: Tries to be the point as to be as effective on the battlefield as possible. Tries to keep things light-hearted, but buckles down to follow orders.
Background history: Raised up in a middle class neighbourhood, Warren didn't expect to be pulled into the military at all. As tensions rose across the galaxy, Warren fell for the propaganda and enlisted himself for human kind (and he'd probably get schooling paid for). Warren was nearly through with his contract before things started hitting the fan and now he's been sent into the fray against his hopes. Since then, he's been deployed into several battlefields and made a name for himself by getting promoted a few times quite quickly. Warren was recommended for AdMi after his last deployment where he was one of the last few soldiers successfully defending a military point of interest against a force of claimers. Warren doesn't know what to expect from here onwards.
Other noteworthy facts, traits, interests: Fascination in ancient, medieval Earth (though sometimes gets the facts wrong). Doesn't really have a favourite weapon beyond what get's issued to him.

Traits: -  Expert marksmanship/precision, ideal for sniper missions
Personality: - Off duty: cheerful, sometimes a 'prankster'. On duty: cold and calculating.
Background history: - Graduated through basic training with Marksmanship honors, was recommended to Sniper School rather early on, served with honors to attain Specialist rank and was given an honorable mention to be in-line for Corporal rather quickly. She volunteered for the AdMi program to see if that would help progress her through the ranks, her merits enabling her to only have an inactivated chip installed and even to give her a 'half-change' option to not fully alter herself.
Other noteworthy facts, traits, interests: - In her spare time, she enjoys mimicking other people's voices, having perfected them rather easily despite her vocal-cord changes to the 'enhanced' state. She has pondered on becoming a voice-actor if she were to leave the military, but peacetime has not come for such a moment.
Occupation/Rank: - Specialist
Specialty: - Sniper
Chipped: - Yes, but currently inactive.
Favored weapon or skill: - (shown in ref) A Variable Personal Defense Weapon, a multi-role tactical firearm-platform designed to be able to be adjusted in the field to limit downtime and to increase long-term effectiveness of soldiers in the field. Currently, a system in place for using multiple ammunition types from fallen soldiers is not yet in play for this, so it is limited to ammunition she can carry with her.

And with that, I guess we wait and find out about the posting location?

Alright, a couple of things to note, Tina. First up, the format of your character profile could use some tweaking: It's a little hard to read it due to how some things run into each other. Second, contact Ventus with the profile sign-up so he can approve it first before you post it here. He's still gauging interest, but if he approves it, then he'd let you know it's good to post it here.

Reference/Looks: 1.68m, pale skin, light brown hair, blue eyes, somewhere between round and square jaw.
Traits: Fast thinker, not very charismatic, optimistic, stubborn.
Personality: Very friendly and loves a good chat but isn't very good at starting one, he always tries to do his best no matter how exhausted he is, when not completely focused he can get very easily distracted.
Background history: During his childhood he understood his love for thrilling adventures whether in books or in real life through parkour and sword fighting. Once old enough he joined the military thinking he would find better adventures in there. After training he was chosen for a recon and stealth unit where his skills were proved useful in an operation where he was the only survivor after a discovery while sneaking in a enemy base. His survival while getting valuable Intel caught the eye of the AdMi where he was eventually sent for special training where he was offered to be enhanced with cybernetics. After some thinking he signed the contract and was installed with his cybernetics. He is now just finished testing for them and was cleared for field use.

Occupation/Rank: Private
Chipped or not? He is tracked through the cybernetics but not chipped. Favoured weapon or skill: He has a short blade hidden in his right arm and an energy shield generator on the left (It is a meter by a meter square).

Well now the RP has been set up!
Sorry once again for the delay, I tried starting up two times prior and two times I was halted so it was hard to pick it up again.

Now I don't expect people to respond daily or even weekly (I might noot be able to myself :)), but some consistency would be nice.
If you want to step out, you can at any time. Let me know (PM or here in the OOC) and we can come up with a fitting 'ending' to your character.
If you simply want to step out for a short while or are unsure when you may return, also inform me/us and we can see what we can do ^_^
When we don't hear from you for a long time, we'll assume you left the RP and do not wish to continue. In certain cases I might give a reason why the character is 'not there' anymore as in to fill a potential gap left behind.

Personality: - Angder often gives the impression of being laid back. He actually enjoys violence, though he is moral enough not to actively seek it.
Background history: - Angder, as far as he is aware, has always been part of the military. He believes he was Designed, and created here to act as a form of "shock troop". Or something. He cares little about the past or where he came from. He is alive and he is here, that's what matters to him.
Other noteworthy facts, traits, interests: - Angder prefers hand to hand combat over guns. He heals faster than most people.

Occupation/Rank: - Private
Speciality: - Recruit
Chipped or not?: - Y (Some of the secondary features, most notably the suppression of aggression, disappear when Angder is Angered, or otherwise stressed. Due to the nature of this fault, Angder believes it's a feature, rather than a bug.)

It's really up to you.

And about the miscommunication, feel there is >-> but I can't focus right now my attention on too many things.. so I might have be confusing on you wether I will join the RP now or not...


Anyways, so to sum this up. I won't join now due to lack of time and focus BUT I will join in later (after my exams), asking help from Ventus (and the others taking part in the RP) to come in the story smoothly and in a way that will not ruin the story.

I'm sorry if this will dissapoint you, but I no. That would require the post to be edited every single time (by me), and for me to be online nonstop in case someone decides to post, but if I'm not and the person after that one still sees it's not their turn, well that could potentially lead to a standstill. Besides, I think everyone can look at the list and realise when it's their turn or not. I hardly doubt anyone is illiterate here :P
Also, every time the topic gets a reply the people who have already replied will see it has a new reply and will read up on it.

So I'll just link the list next time I can get to edit the original post and link to the character sheets of each participant :)

And edited my own to include the Specialty.

For those of you who may not understand what a "specialty" is, it's a role within the military (examples: vehicle maintainer, pilot, sniper, tank operator, medic, ect.). A person can have up to two specialties within the military if they have been in long enough to go through the proper training, which the bare minimum is 1-2 years for full training and at least 2 years having been in that job after being fully-trained (which results in 3-4 years for possibility of getting a secondary specialty). And even to get considered for a specialty-switch, it requires a direct-commander's approval.

I don't include Ruby's other unique-skill to be a specialty since it doesn't have a direct use within the military, but it's safe to say she might still have a use for it.

You don't need a color, but it actually does help out in showing what is dialog (inner or outer) and what isn't. As for how to do color, there are an assortment of colors you can use, but they all use the same code. I'll show you what I mean by putting in some color-names that are usually easily seen in the standard/default settings of the forums.

Did you climb down or did something else happen?

Another thing to note is, maybe you can be a bit more descriptive with your replies. They're rather short and don't really give much of an in-depth view what the character is thinking, doing, who they are talking to specifically or no one specifically, or where they are, etc.

Well, Ruby is considered a 'half-human' or 'enhanced-human' since she started off human rather than was born an anthro and that she also has only a few animal-traits.

To make it easier, the environment we're currently in is very much like Basic Military Training in terms of buildings, however I do see some lax-behavior so far, but climbing buildings might get you into trouble if you're not careful or if you go into any restricted areas.

1) Now includes the colour codes everyone has been using. That was it's easier to remember and is it also very easy to copy-paste from :)
2) Included Lumix.

Possible changes for the first post: Change of turn-order.
Will heavily depend on how things are going, how and which characters will interact.
As said before, the turn-order isn't a strict on. I have noticed everyone has been trying their best to follow it, which is pretty surprising in a good way ^^
Any suggestions for a change of turn-order or if it should simply be overall left as it is?

Note to everyone with regards to the RP:

After this next round we'll be proceeding to the next day, so make sure you take that into account with your upcoming turn/post.

Maybe you can have your character have a meal, shower, go to bed. That sort of stuff.
Make sure they are fully prepped for 'tomorrow'.

As of which, Rayleonarde hasn't given an estimate when he'll be back from his hiatus, so I don't know when aboutso we could expect him back. I wish him a lot of luck with his problem of the bedbugs.

Hey everyone :)

So first off, apologies for the long wait. Lots of different things happened and I couldn't really sit down properly to type down a reply (as I like to do for RP's and such).

Secondly, I had to think of how to start the next day. Wasn't as hard as I thought, but I thought at first it was >.>

Thirdly, I'll be adjusting the Turn Order a bit, or I should say: I'll make sure Vosur comes first after me again and then play around with the order a bit to see what might work best :P  This also based on preferences that others indicated or told me about.

Lastly, I'll be away for a bit less than a week starting from around the 18th or so. This due to some personal matters of which some of you may be aware of.

Hey guys!
So after talking it over with Vosur, the dice-roll/random-number generator seems like a plan, however, I like to mention how I was thinking of giving everyone chances.

Since some of you are late at the Training Grounds we need to accompany that as well. As long with others having more stamina.
The enhanced will have more stamina than their 'regular human' counterparts, and the completely enhanced would have even more stamina.

In other words:
Everyone starts of with one 'mention' or one point. (1)
Do you have a headstart on others? Yes => +1 mention/point
Are you enhanced? Yes =>  +1 mention/point
Are you fully enhanced? Yes =>  +1 mention/point
Do you/your character have a lot of stamina?  Yes =>  +1 mention/point
 
This means that the one with the larger number would get more chances, but wouldn't necessarily win. This is an actual game of chance, with some who have a larger chance than others.
I'll put the names with amount of chances in the generator (or whatever device) and whatever name pops out in first place will be the 'winner' and the name which pops out last will be the 'loser'.

Let me know what you guys think of this idea, and let me know if your character is built on stamina or not. Some might have a bit less stamina than others, and that's totally fine. Just let me know ;)

Well, from the way I would see it, the results of the "places" would basically be a guide for us on how we should play out the obstacle course. Someone in last place might show to be struggling to get over numerous portions, someone in first would fly-through quite a bit of it with no problem.

An example of the course might look something like this: http://s3files.core77.com/blog/images/2014/07/0obstaclecoursedesign-008.jpg Maybe include a rope-swing or a rock-climbing section too?

Maybe I should add this:

Ruby was on-time (early in fact), so she's well-rested. She is also partially enhanced. And she would have a decent amount of trained-stamina since she has a prior good-record in the military (they normally take PT training seriously for coming-of-rank people, no failed PT tests right before sewing-on).

So that would be a base 3 for her, possibility of 4.

Basically, this is to give everyone a chance at coming in first or preventing in coming in last. You just need to answer the questions:

1. Was the character on-time or early?
2. Is the character enhanced (genetic-modified, cybernetic-modified) partially or fully? If so, which one?
3. Is the character specifically enhanced for stamina or is the character specifically trained for endurance?

With those questions answered, it helps to calculate your chances of coming in first or preventing in coming in last. Everyone still has a chance of coming in first, but those with more "yes"s or points have a higher chance of coming in first.

3) Reasonably fit and has good stamina (for military standards) so shouldn't be too big a problem

I arrived almost exactly on time, so does that mean I have a headstart? If so, I get the full 4 extra points! :D (5 total)

Yep, obstacle course looks aboutso like what Vosur said.
And @Angder: Yep, you get a point for being on time, so you get all 5 points :D

This is overall the same list I used to indeed distribute everyone's points:

Rayleonarde, Razot, Vortex

Results are in!

Ruby's first, Warren's last.

Now go ahead and take on the obstacle course. Feel free to post until you're all done with it. It goes without saying Ruby will come in first and Warren last, so that's all you basically need to keep in mind when posting.
That doesn't mean though that Warren's last throughout the whole course though! Feel free to make the competition exciting :P

Ignore Pandadox and Cold for now. If I see something that they need to step in for, I'll reply when it's my turn. Otherwise just keep posting.
Maybe two or three posts per person about the course might be an idea? Gives you guys some time to think about things and do things and stuff, like interacting with one another maybe on the obstacle course?

Before I post in the main RP thread, I will wait to see if everyone will confirm this. I will try to make sure it seems somewhat more fair or more feasible on her victory rather than her managing to dart-ahead of everyone.

She did arrive early, so she would be well-rested and she is somewhat familiar to this type of obstacle course, so she would have that advantage as well, but I would not expect her to be the fastest unless someone gets caught-up in something. She's not the largest nor is she the smallest if I remember correctly, but I want to make it fully believable.
