Title: What is your preferred writing outlet?
Post by: Calun the Bat on February 11, 2017, 04:31:39 AM
So, I've been in love with writing since I was little. My dad read me The Hunt For Red October when I was three (and many others, specifically Shakespeare), so I as exposed to literature really early, and it became my thing.

I have a self published novel, and I'm working on about three other projects of various natures at the current moment.

However, I've noticed that many writers are interesting creatures.

Whether it's a story we want to tell, details about life we wish to examine, or feelings and emotions we wish to convey and confess; we often find ourselves in a particular means of expression.

What I mean, is that some of us are amazing with poetry, while creating a novel, or even a short story may prove difficult to impossible in the mind. Similar views and feelings are in all angles of the situation. Some may be confident with crafting a short story, but find any form of poetry to be too daunting or restricting for them to express themselves the way they'd wish to.

For myself, I prefer writing stories, but I'm also (and have been) in love with poetry since I was very young. I'm working on a collection that is a gallery mixed with random expressions of generally beautiful (I hope, anyhow) words to create an image, as well as a release of some of my emotions, feelings, and views that otherwise are trapped inside my head.

Er. Long story short, I guess I'm asking what everyone prefers? If any preference exists?

So mine would be novels and poetry.

Hey again, Calun :)

To answer your question, I write novels and draw comics. I wish I could make a picture book/novel without it giving off the vibe of a children's book. Nothing wrong with children's books, it's just not the thing I would want to specialise in, if that makes sense?
Although (if I recall correctly) I've been told twice that I possibly have talent for it...   ._.

So therefor I spread that out into writing novels and drawing comics :P
I've been trying to get motivation again for drawing comics, but it's hard to see if people are interested in such a thing. Maybe if I would draw more comics and people would let me know... Otherwise for now I focus on what I do, which is drawing and just writing my characters' stories ^^

Hope that answers your question!

Hey!

I wouldn't call myself a writer since I haven't really written anything (other than my sona's lore which is still in progression) but from what I am really getting intrigued is a good story. I like plot twists, I love drama and I love good characters.

I've spent some time reading other people's stories and I am very excited for making my own sona's lore..

So what inspires me you can say is novels that have a good story and good characters ^^

Very cool! Thank you both for your answers. I suppose there really wasn't any particular reason for this post, beyond curiosity as to what different people like, are motivated and inspired by, etc...

I think it's really interesting!

Personally I have a short attention span (which means I get very bored drawing or writing long stories very easily :p) but I do enjoy writing short stories and poetry. Poetry mostly for conveying emotions and short stories just for fun ^^

If anyone knows a place where I can put them online instead of just having them squished in notebooks I'd be very greatful :)

No problem, Calun ^^

I would suggest then you can write them on your PC and then you can use deviantArt and FurAffinity to upload them. They take writing formats as well :)
