Title: "TFF New Year" theme
Post by: Timmy Fox on January 04, 2017, 02:45:38 AM
I love this theme and it actually is the default theme I use kinda all year long, but there is one detail that triggers my OCD quite a bit; The date in the banner has not been updated since 2014.

I posted about this back in 2015 and I believe I also made an update for 2016 back in the old helpdesk section. But since the helpdesk has been replaced with this board I figured it was time for me to remake the thread once again since it's now 2017.

Hey timmy!

We may be able to replace this for you know, but it would be cool if you or someone could create the new 2017 theme, it could be the same but just with 2017 instead of 2014. That way we can just switch them over.

I think Zephyr was the one to make/update it originally so for just updating the numbers she might be the one with the source files (in which I'm assuming it's just a matter updating the number in a layer).

Otherwise I would not at all mind to try and update/maintain this theme if you'd allow me to.

You or another artist can always draw a theme and I can talk with the moderator team to see if they like it. It would be good to delegate some the artistry of the site. Though I'm not promising anything, it relies on everyone else agreeing

Alright. I'll do some quick fiddling around when I've got some spare time and let ya know once that's done!

Did a basic attempt at recreating it with the numbers updated. Not completely identical but the same basic design.

It's been updated. Thanks Timmy.

I noticed, thanks!

I also sent the Photoshop document to Anoni over Skype so that I would not be the only one with that file (for ease of updating it in the future). Would've put it directly here in the attachments but it appears the attachments would not accept the .psd file.

Here's the update for 2018

Some of them were designed with fixed widths as it worked better with how they were designed.

Still appears to be showing up with "2017" on my end, I tried forcing a refresh without cache but it doesn't seem to be loading the updated one for me.

Not sure if it was fixed after Timmy's last post here, but the updated version is showing properly for me.

Alright so that's very strange ...

Despite occurring on every single one of my devices regardless of the browser I use, indeed it turns out it was a semi-local issue, but it's a very strange such:

I cleared cache, tried different browsers etc but no matter what I did it wouldn't show the updated banner. Then I tried it on my phone, and as soon as I turned the wifi off it loaded fine.

Did a good bit of troubleshooting and it appears to be network related, even if I bypass the router and connect directly to the modem the 'old' banner would load instead of the new one. On any OTHER internet connection however (such as tethering from my phone), the new one loads just fine.

Most likely your ISP runs their own caching server to save on traffic costs.
