So, whenever I try to update my avi by uploading my own picture, this happens:
Is anyone else experiencing this? Are there anyone who knows how to fix it?
I really miss having a face :(

Well, I got it to work by just uploading a much degraded version of the picture, but I'll try again.
-
It could be that the file size was too large. I'm not sure, although that screenshot sure is weird. I can't recall getting that if I would accidentaly load too large of a picture :S
Have you tried again recently? And if so, what were the results?
-
it keeps saying connection timed out

Hmm... I'm no tech support, but it could be too big, weird format, maybe it's your internet being slow. The forum isn't exactly fast today either, maybe try in an hour. If it doesn't work then, I'll leave it to someone who has some better knowledge. But maybe it'll help.

Thanks dude I'll try that

Whenever I try to upload my profile picture from my computer, the webpage turns to white. I think this may be an issue with the forum.
-
How big is the image? Sometimes if it's a very big file it can hang and refuse to upload. It's a known issue afaik and the only solution currently is to downsize the image to smaller file.
-
Do you know what the maximum image size is?

Nevermind, I've figured it out. You were right, it was a problem with the size of the image. I don't know why that would cause there to be a completely white page though.

To summarise:
As said by a few users, the problem is usually either one of the following.
Please check these off one by one and see
- Too large image. The image is too large and therefor you can either be shown an error message, a white screen or a screen mentioning the forums does not work.
How to fix this?
Simply try uploading a smaller version of the image you want to use as forum avatar.
(If you want an animated .gif avatar, the maximum proportions would be at most 100px (width and height). If it's larger, it will still be shown as avatar, but it won't be animated.)
- Weird image format. The image has a strange format and the forums therefor might experience difficulties in uploading the file.
How to fix this?
Try to use more 'common' file types, such as JPG/JPEG, GIF, PNG.
If the file type is right, maybe the 'mode' type is not. Try to change the mode to RGB. CMYK or any other mode other than RGB might cause issues, a lot of (uploading) websites mostly support RGB and not CMYK or other file modes.
- Forum is under maintenance or offline. The forums are regularly updated, recently the forums have undergone heavy maintenance -as some might be aware of- making the forums faster and much more capable to handle certain issues better.
How to fix this?
Unfortunately however, if the forums are under maintenance and/or offline, there isn't much that can be done about it until the issue has passed. Just sit tight and check back again later :)
- Your internet is disconnecting/being weird. I hate to say this, but I've had this myself only a few times the whole time I've been on this forum. Might as well add this as a final point. The internet provider I had had this habit of giving poor internet, even after resetting the router it would happen within days. Turned out the router needed replacing, but a lot of times their services were offline randomly, sometimes I didn't have internet for a few hours, sometimes only a few seconds (before and after the replacement of the router). I don't really see this happening to a lot of people, but if all else fails, it might be a possibility.
How to fix this?
All I can suggest is to check your own personal situation. Router, internet provider, that sort of thing. Reset the router if need be. If that doesn't help and you don't know what else may be the cause, contact your internet provider (and be persistent!).
Hope this helps for current members and any members who might experience similar issues in the future.
Thank you for reading.
(PS: Since these current various members have had similar issues, so far fixable with uploading a smaller image, I'll be marking this as resolved now :) )
