Title: Halo
Post by: Ventus Fall on September 01, 2016, 07:12:29 PM
Most of you have probably heard about it, it's been around already for a very long time: Halo.

The franchise started off with Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001.
At the time, it was indeed 'combat evolved'. A bit less so nowadays than before, but still they always try to implement new combat ideas in their games and sequels.

This thread I would like to see discussions on what you like about Halo, what you don't like?
Favourite game of Halo so far? (Yes, including any spin-offs, or other types of gameplays, such as Halo Spartan Strike, or Halo Spartan Assault.)
Favourite character(s), level(s), etc.?
Or what character(s) do you dislike, what enemies, etc.?

Anything can be discussed here about the game itself ^-^

Go Blue Team!

It's primary focus is for members to join from TFF, but other furries (and non-furries) are welcome to join!
While Ventus Fall (me) is currently the owner and founder of the group, if anyone has any suggestions to for the group, of if anyone wants to play a game together, feel free to start something up via the club :)

My first experience with halo was 'Halo: Combat Evolved'
I was fairly young but I played through all of the co-op campaign with my dad. He is actually the reason I'm the gamer I am today. Then once halo 2 came out he bought that and we played that campaign together. After playing a lot of that and the split screen slayer mode with my brother the Xbox 360 and halo 3 came out. Years later we got that and Xbox live and I spent countless hours playing halo 3 online. I met a lot of people and spent a lot of time making creations in forge mode or getting invited to massive infection lobbies with custom maps. Because of that halo 3 was easily my favorite.

That sounds like an amazing experience and very cool :D
It's nice that Halo gave you that experience with your dad and with others.

Right now I'm at one of the last levels of Halo 2.
Yes, I play on normal difficulty.

So then why do Grunts and Elites suddenly start throwing grenades as if we were at a large party and it was confetti?
It wasn't difficult to get passed this part of the level, just slow and frustrating, because every time two to three grenades would be thrown to where I was standing (which was in a hallway), and I had to jump back every time when I saw them throwing the darn blue glowing balls. It is on NORMAL, not hard or legendary! Stahp throwing nonstop plasma grenades, douches!

That aside, it was also fun though XD

Reminds me of when I'd try playing halo 3 with all the skulls on. Oh lord.

i never played halo because i never owned i console apart from a wii but i like the franchise, the story is ok but the universe is very grand, but i do like the fact that it caused the great series red vs blue.

The first game was for PC and the Xbox console. It's how I got into Halo in the first place :P
A friend of mine had an Xbox console on which we could play  Halo 2 (original version on his, I play the remastered edition on mine now).

Besides the console, Halo 2 was also made for on Windows Vista as well. I remember I was a bit sad, because at the time we just had a PC with Windows 7 and one with XP still (if I remember correctly).
I knew I really wanted to play Halo 2 and I couldn't. I was really curious how the sequel looked like (this was before I met the friend I spoke of). I also was not planning on getting an Xbox console. My GameCube was fine for me :P

After Windows Vista was scrapped, so were the console games specifically made for the PC. I would never play Halo 2 ever (or so I thought). Now, basically more than 10 years later, I am finally playing the game myself, fully.
Playing at my friend's place was nice, but he chose which level to play, sporadically. That, and... let's just say we wouldn't get far, because he kept throwing grenades at mah face ingame. Or even when we would be in an elevator, he would constantly drop a grenade, killing the both of us, thus restarting the part every time we had to go into the elevator.
Yeah, that's why I don't really consider that time period as me having actually played Halo 2 ^^;

It's kind of 'funny', because I've played the Halo games in the following order so far:
Halo (1) CE, (played Halo 2 sporadically,) Halo: Reach, (a bit of) Halo 3, Halo 4, (the rest of) Halo 3, Halo 2.

Now with Halo 5, I have played it a bit... before even having started on Halo 2, but then I decided I just had to finish 2 before rushing in with 5. So yeah, that's the timeline of which Halo games I played when :P

Oh, and the cool thing about Red Vs. Blue is that they've put in Easter Eggs of the show in Halo 4, if I'm not mistaken ;D

I loved Halo, especially the first one, ODDT, and Reach. Kind of got burnt out on Halo though. My four younger brothers and all their friends die over Halo though. But even after not playing for months at a time, I still beat anyone :D

I think I was eight when I started playing Halo (Started with combat evolved.) I remember it was one of the first games I played on the XBox. Back when my father was somewhat nicer we used to play all the time, and halfway through some levels we started fighting over the shotgun and or wraith (In the game.) XD

In any case, my favorite Halo: has to be the first one. My favorite mission was the library. The enemies I dislike most are those stupid jetpack elites from Halo 2. They're hard to hit >:\ Favorite Weapon was definitely needler :D (Everyone goes Kablooey) Favorite vehicle is the Scorpion. Everything so much more fun when you can shoot anything and make it go Kablooey. My favorite enemies are the grunts. They're hilarious. I remember after playing the game again after a few years, I heard them say something new and I sat there like: Really? Wow... After all these years he said that line?
Title: Re: Halo
Post by: Ventus Fall on September 24, 2016, 09:57:59 AM
Oh my goodness, the jetpack Elites! Currently playing the end of Halo 2, and they have been so bothersome. To be fair, I find the flying aliens more annoying, the Yanme'e (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Yanme'e). Fudging buggers. Literally!

In the first game my favourite weapon was the Needler, but I noticed in the following games they made it... less fun for me. I think the tracking ability and the power was toned down a bunch. Still, I do pick it up in any game if I see if and there isn't a better one around for the situation :P
This is my list of first-choice weapons when dealing with certain enemies:
+Shotgun for the Flood
+Sniper when I can be sneaky for every enemy
+Plasma Canon for everything as well XD
+Energy Rifle (Brute variant (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Type-25_Directed_Energy_Rifle/Jiralhanae_variant)) against Brutes

My favourite grenade in the game? Plasma grenade XD I like it when I throw it and I can make it stick to an enemy and they panic. Sorry, guess I'm rather sadistic like that in the game :P

I've been playing Halo 5 on and off (for a variety of reasons) and it is awesome. Although I do have a few pointers I am bothered about.
I'll hide them in a spoiler just in case.

There is this part in the game where Locke and his crew come across the Warden Eternal. He says something along the lines of that the others (referring to Master Chief and his team) have been approved passage, but not Locke and his team.
So they fight with the Warden and win. Pretty awesome 'mini boss'.
However, the problem I have with what happens straight after.

So you take time to fight the Warden, and before that there is a while where he talks. And before you walk through to the next section you also have to go to the door first.
All these actions take time, yet when you pass as Locke through the door you see Master Chief and his gang not too far away.

And that is one of my problems I have with that cutscene. Did Master Chief and his friends stay behind the door to listen whether the Warden would beat Locke's arse?
Because how else to explain why they had such a short distance between them?
Clearly John took the same path as Lock is, and clearly the fight and everything else took time for Locke, so then why?
(I'm not looking for an answer per se, just ranting xD But if anyone does have an answer or explanation, I'll gladly hear it.)

Another issue I have is the teleportation pads in the cutscene. Both Master Chief and Locke have to use teleportation pads to get from the part where they came from to the next part.
But if only Master Chief and his buddies are allowed to pass, why can Locke make use of the teleportation pads as well?
For an advanced civilisation which made the pads, they could have 'coded' it in such a manner that only John and his team could use it, instead of Locke and his team.
(And a bit later the pads seem to deactivate and fall away. Why couldn't this have happened once Master Chief and his team used the pads?)
See, this problem wouldn't have occurred if the creators either came up with something smart, removed the time issue from the first issue I have, or made the pathway like some normal stairs or something else. Something that would make sense and doesn't just seem fancy and highly technological and alien.

Halo 3 is definitely my favourite, mainly for the campaign. Reach was not bad, but everything after I can't get into.

My Halo adventure started in 3, with my cousin. We played the co-op campaign and 1v1 slayer quite a lot. We played through ODST as well, but I wasn't a fan of it at that point. I got Reach with a 360 for my 14th and loved it. Superb gameplay and multiplayer. The only problem I had with it was that Warrant officer was such a grind! x.x

I got to Legend rank on Reach a few months ago, there's actually still quite a lot of people playing it! I usually played infection and SWAT, so headshots were common.

I've had a few moments of "how did I do that" in the past, including infecting every surviving spartan without dying in Reach, every spartan in 4 (1 death) and completing ONI: Sword base on 'Mythic' difficulty (LASO) with only 1 reload.

... Come at me bro xD

I feel we should try to see if we can perhaps rally a few members from here to organise a huge Multiplayer game upcoming summer or something :P

I felt Halo 5 missing the multiplayer was a real... miss. I found out by coincidence during Halloween when a friend came over. I wanted to play it together with him, he's the reason I was able to play Halo 2 (and 3?) before I got my own Xbox console to play it on.
I really hope they bring it back. I know why they removed the feature, and it mostly had to do with the 60fps, but... I wish they would have asked the community what they wanted more: 60fps, or multiplayer.
It would have been a hard choice, and I'm sure the divide would be cutting it close, but at least it would have prepared me and many others on the fact we can't have both.
Besides, the TV I have connected to my console isn't that suited for such amazing high quality, so for me it didn't add anything by removing the multiplayer option.

Omg, yes! I'm still figuring out how Halo works on the xBox One, as well as figuring out how the console works, so no idea how to set up a clan, but lemme look into it and I'll post an update here! :D
I think you can assign games to said clan, so shall I set up all Halo games for the clan?

I hope they just update the game so it's possible :P And/or update the console itself with the software updates xD
I just got this thing, I don't want to buy a new one becase they wrongly estimated the capacity of their own product.

Title: Re: Halo

How about then I'll look into it today or tomorrow about how to set up a clan? :P
I've set groups and stuff up before on other places and websites, I'm sure I'll be able to figure out how to set up a clan too x)

Anyways, to get back more directly to Halo... The reason I really enjoyed Reach is mainly due to three reasons:
1) Backstory: It gives a lot more insight into the overall lore, it explained a lot to me when certain terms and names were mentioned in other games and such. It really felt to me some open-ended ties were finally knotted to make a whole. If that analogy makes sense.
2) Own character: You can design your own Spartan, Noble Six, to a certain degree. It can be male or female, and you can edit the colours of the suit, making the feeling more personal. You will see this in the cutscenes as well. And besides the slight differences in physical-build, the voice in the cutscene for Noble Six also depends whether you chose it to be a male or female.
3) You can see with the huge amount of details put into the design of the environment and OH MY GOODNESS THAT BEAUTIFUL SKY. Seriously, I had to stop a lot of the time playing the game to just stare at the sky.

So much detail is put in the Halo games, but I only started to realise this when playing Reach, and I think one of the reasons is how quickly I saw how the sky was done. From that moment on I started to look and remember at everything else of the franchise and saw that it wasn't just a fun game (to me), but that so much time and dedication went into this. The story, the characters, the environment.

There are a few negative points I would want to mention as well with regards  to Halo Reach, such as that the characters seem to be all too willing to self-sacrifice or die (sometimes for no clear or good reason) when they've done excellent before.
Well, arguably with regards to Jorge?
Jorge is the first of Noble Team to die, but his death is the most believable of all, and not even frustrating. Wlel, to me it was frustrating ebcause it was a typical 'movie moment' or cliché of "Oh noes, the bomb needs to be done manually, because reasons". Still, it had an explanation, and I felt his death was the most dramatic, because you already got small hints of who he used to be, as well as gotten a few details into his personality and characteristics.

Kat's death to me was extremely surprising. I mean, it's good in a way because a character's death should be sudden in certain situations (you don't know who will die in a war beforehand either), but so much confusion was left. The whole point of arguing whether she should have died or not from that Needler Sniper weapon... That discussion shouldn't even be existant, and yet it is. And why? Because it's not clear to a lot of people what the situation was at the time. And even I myself thought something was wrong. She shouldn't have died like she did, she had her armour on and whatnot. That, and she died suddenly. No gasp, no nothing. She was shot and died instantly. Something was off.
Later, delving into various articles and other forums discussions, it made sense: Her shields were down. Everyone's shields were down. It was mentioned prior, or at least shown. However, as a game, such an insinuation shouldn't stay an insinuation. When she was dying, she could have said something like: "Sh*t, was hoping the shields would have regenated faster." Or something along those lines. Something Kat-like, you know?

Anyways, those are my thoughts :)

That's right, we need a name before I set it up.
I have some ideas, but my favourite is: Strike Team Athena (abbreviation can be S.T.A. or T.A. for Team Athena). Athena is the goddess of war, but also of wisdom, strategy and peace.

I thought it would also be a cool idea to name the clan after a Greek god(dess) such as Athena, because of the many Greek and Norse (and Egyptian) mythology references in the games.
Athena is also known to be like a protector of various people, so if we would name the clan/team after her, we might get on her good side ;)
(Besides, we would also already have a mascot creature for the team too; an owl. As an owl is usually used to represent Athena.)

PLEASE let me go ahead with this idea XD
Title: Re: Halo
Post by: kylethefox on November 13, 2016, 11:48:27 PM
yeah that sound good! and i like a owl as a symbol! (she was represented as a harpy owl right?) however im not quite sure i like the 'strike team' part so much, if you really like it that much then im ok with  it! ;)
Title: Re: Halo

Hmm, I'll surely incorporate Athena into the clan name.
As for setting up a clan on xBox, it's called a 'club' on xBox. Derp.

Also, I couldn't find the 'Create a club' option in the Community tab, where it should be, so I decided to activate a Gold Membership I had laying around >->
Not sure what will happen to the club/clan when my membership runs out though, so if anyone could provide an answer to that, that would be awesome.

While I've been writing this up, I think just Team Athena could work. (Abbreviation would be T.A.), but we could always say
TAFF, which would stand for Team Athena Furry Forums :P

As of which, here is some information pertaining what teams already exist in the Halo universe: http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Spartan_Teams (http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Spartan_Teams)
Note, they seem to be all, or mostly fireteams, yet do not necessarily have the word 'fire' in their name. Therefore I am going with Team Athena (just like Team Black, Team Saber, and Noble Team).

Currenlty setting the club up :)
(Reply here or PM me your username so I can include you once I set up the club!)

Post Merge: November 14, 2016, 01:58:24 PM

Turns out I had a corrupted update, so I couldn't make clubs. Spent the last hour or so figuring out how to fix this ^^;
I set up an Owl as a profile picture for the group (it's a private group, meaning anyone can ask to join, but only members can play). Not sure if the owl is from another game, if it is, let me know, and I'll choose an actual Halo picture as profile image.

But how to arrange this with everyone in different timezones? HMM.

I guess... later today or Friday some time, dunno if that will work, but I can always see if I can set something up via the clan like a schedule or something?

Sounds good! ^^

Also, been playing Halo 5 just now, and I had a laugh with Razot before (he watches while I play) XD
I'm at the part where the Kraken shows up from the enemy Elites, Covenant part thingey. Words.
Anyways, it showed up and some Elites seemed to refer to the famous movie line of "Release the Kraken" but instead by saying release, moreso along the lines of distract it or such x3
It was also in the tone they said it. Too funny XD

I'm (kind of) here again, but what's all this talk about Zelda and these short, sometimes not-related-to-Halo discussions! >3<
Get out of here with that! :P

Been playing Halo 5 some more these last two days.
Got with Team Osiris on Genesis and they had short contact with Master Chief :)
Thought the Warden quite a bunch of times since we 'first met'.
I think the Warden and his personality is quite cool too.

To be honest, from how much I've played, he doesn't seem like a bad guy.
That, and it's known Locke 'adores' Master Chief. He looks up to him. He doesn't want to do what he's, but he's gotten his orders.
Title: Re: Halo

Well... How old is your sister? :P

Anyways, I loved being back on Genesis again (now with Locke), it looks so beautiful, and I like they added animal life too, flying in the skies, and the weird flora everywhere too. I like the detail that was put in the level. Doesn't surprise me they keep returning to the planet in the game xD
As in the game creators, making sure you play on that planet a couple of times :P

I honestly prefer the Arbiter over Master Chief. His story is way more epic!
Don't get me wrong, MC is a beast, but the Arbiter was born for combat.

YUUUSS!! mara you rock!!
Title: Re: Halo
Post by: Ventus Fall on December 23, 2016, 10:11:30 AM
I know why I like and dislike Locke, talking about liking him more than Master Chief :P

See, the point I disliked him (and still do), is that... MC (Master Chief) was from a group of kidnapped kids, tortured, integrated, their childhood taken away, etc. They haven't learned to deal with emotions properly or social interraction. (Etc. etc.)
Locke volunteerd for the army, Locke could choose and do these things when he was 'ready' for it.

I'm not saying it's bad he had that choice. But there is more emotional attachment and backstory as to how MC grew up (as in he didn't get the chance to). It's also a character we've been with for yeeeaaars.
I like how Halo was also self-aware of this.
Halo 4 has the intro-scene (and was also I believe used as a trailer) that Halsey asked the ONI interrogator: "You want to replace him."

And in Halo 5 she also says she wants Locke to bring MC back alive (with -if I saw that correctly- a sad expression on her face).

Title: Re: Halo
Post by: anoni on January 12, 2017, 05:38:59 AM
I was going to buy an Xbox One just to play Halo 5, but I discovered that it does not have split screen coop. I mean what the heck, that was the whole point of Halo (for me anyway). All throughout all the halo games I'd constantly play with my friends getting into crazy shenanigans on coop mode. And the reason they didn't do split screen? Cause they wanted 60 fps on the entire game so they could brand the game as "60 fps all the time". Remove one of the key features of a halo game just for marketing, that put me off getting that xbox or that game.

Also you guys beat Halo 1 on legendary? Single player or coop? Coop is fine, but single player on legendary in halo is bloody hard xD
Title: Re: Halo
Post by: kylethefox on January 12, 2017, 06:19:51 AM
single and coop! B) i think its easyer on pc, first time i beat it on singlelegendary i think i was 8, but i might have been 10 :S i played the coop with my brother when master cheif collection came out for xbox one
Title: Re: Halo
Post by: Ventus Fall on January 12, 2017, 08:05:14 AM
Thanks, Kyle, for offering the pack x3 I'll try to get on again soon. Life's been a bit hectic and I have been missing my Xbox and Halo :P

As for the split-screen, I only found that out a couple of months after I got the game (with the console) when a friend wwas staying over. It's not that I often play with friends here. I used to do it more often. And I was a bit upset they removed that indeed. For whatever reason that might have been, but the whole FPS nonsense... Sur ethe game looks nice, but I think this is something they could have reached out to the community and the fanbase to ask.
"We need to make an important decision that might change gaming experience, based on your decision. Would you rather have 60FPS and a smooth-run of the game, or keep the split screen?"
And hey, maybe the outcome would be 60FPS (although I doubt it), but at least it would have been 'our' choice. Plus I would have probably found out sooner about that if that happened.
Sudden changes without hearing it beforehand make me very anxious XD

Beating Halo 1 on Legendary... I... NOPE :D

I've always been a very anti-microsoft fan you see :p . So I don't own microsoft devices (PC, xbox).. and that's why mainly I haven't gave it a shot yet :p. It's a shame tho because there are some exclusives on xbox that I still wanna play such as HALO and Killer Instinct :p

Title: Re: Halo
Post by: kylethefox on January 12, 2017, 04:45:00 PM
i never had the kinect, im not really into the move your body kinda stuff, so i wouldn't know how that is, but i like the xbox 360! there were so many good games for it and the controler felt comfortable in your hand, its just my opinion, but the playstation feels more like its for light gamers, and by light i mean like the kinda gamers who dont want to invest to much into video games, but thats just my opinion :/
Title: Re: Halo
Post by: Vortex Cynbel on January 12, 2017, 07:16:49 PM
Now now.. I am kinda a PlayStation fanboy so my opinion may be biased but truth be told. Personally I feel the PS4 and PS3 are full fledged consoles and can compete with the Xbox 1 and 360 accordingly fairly well.. I am not saying that they are the perfect systems no.. but you have to respect that both systems have a huge library of games that also addressed towards hardcore gamers too.. For me a console that is addressed for casual gamers (light gamers) are the Wii, Wii U, 3DS etc. basically Nintendo consoles. Nintendo mainly focuses on first party exclusives that are mainly addressed for casual gamers.

Title: Re: Halo
Post by: anoni on January 13, 2017, 06:23:12 AM
Yeah I did beat Halo 1 on legendary in Single player but it was a hard task that took me ages! I was also unable to beat Halo 2 on legendary in coop but I did in single player (but that took me even longer!), the reason we couldn't in coop is in halo 2 (and only halo 2) when one person died on legendary it counted as both people dying, making the game twice as difficult! In halo 3, legendary was comparatively easier and I never actually owned a copy of halo 4 so never beat it on legendary as I only played it once on heroic.

I haven't played halo 5, it looks like a cool game but I can't be bothered getting an xbox one for a game that I would only be able to play by myself.

Also my brother used to obsessed with halo 2 and 3, even won a few comps in halo 3. But he beat the game on Mythic in halo 2 and halo 3 (Mythic is when you play Legendary but have certain skulls on like the Mythic skull to make the game much harder)

on the other hand, I have Ventus to thank for showing me to this awesome series. Really need to get an xbox to play halo 4-5!

You're welcome o3o
I finally managed to finish Halo 3's campaign because you were pushing me to XD Played Halo 3 together with Razot when I was visiting him a while back.

It's odd. I played the first Halo game a few times (on the PC). Only played a bit of Halo 2 when visiting Lyskal (close friend) as he had an Xbox (I didn't for a long time). Halo 3 never happened for even longer.
Then along came the Xbox360, Halo: Reach. These were both on sale (together with Fable III) so I finally decided to get an Xbox.
From that point on my interest flaired up immensely for the franchise. I was able to play Halo 3 too (was also on sale).

Then a while later Halo 4 came up, but I waited and avoided spoilers successfully until the price went down. Then I bought that one and loved it. Although I did think it was a bit more confusing story-wise than the other game so far. It felt like they wanted to cram in too much plot in one go.

So far Halo 5 seems a lot calmer plot-wise and it makes more sense as I go along.

I'm at the cutscene/part Locke is now helping Master Chief :3

Title: Re: Halo
Post by: anoni on January 20, 2017, 05:13:33 AM
I've been a halo fan since they came out, been playing them my entire life and I was only 7 when I first played Halo 1. Until after halo 4 I've played every single halo game that has ever been released. So here's my experience/thoughts about each halo game

Halo 1: This is, IMO, my favourite halo game. It might just be nostalgia that makes me say this, but I know I've had and still have the most fun playing Coop with friends on this game. The amount of craziness you can get into, the amount of things you can do and the easter eggs you can have, it's fantastic. The only part of this game that is lacking is the multiplayer, while the multiplayer is very good on the PC (especially if you get the modded out Custom Edition) the multiplayer overall (on Xbox and what-not) has been improved in later titles.

Halo 2: When this came out I remember my friends and I thinking it was, overall, a disappointment. But when I revisited it, it actually is the most content filled halo game in the entire series. It has more enemies, levels and weapons than any other halo game, it's campaign is very long but it's overall story was a tad confusing and convoluted. Halo 2 introduced the halo franchise to the great wide world of multiplayer and with fantastic levels like Lockout it was edging to a great success.

Halo 3: While Halo 1 is my favourite, I can't argue that Halo 3 is by far the best halo game in the entire series and no game has ever scratched it's amazingness. With a thrilling campaign, fully fleshed out multiplayer, Forge mode, theater mode, arcade mode and a level of customizability never seen before in a halo game, halo 3 was quite simply a masterpiece and was the magnum opus of Bungie. It was a fantastic wrap up, the amount of secrets and hidden easter eggs in it, the amount of fun you could have developing your own levels and the competitiveness of the matchmaking, it's no surprise people still play halo 3 today.

Halo ODST: Perhaps jarringly, halo ODST is probably the second worst halo game ever made. It tried something new so that's commendable, but it overall failed in it's execution. Expanding halo into a more convoluted story you play as an ODST rather than a spartan, while this game promised radically different gameplay, with more of an emphasis on stealth and tactics, what results was basically a standard halo game but you die quicker and can't jump as high. Not really ideal, though Buck (played by the guy in Firefly) is fantastic and that first scene when you drop into new mombasa is fantastic. The multiplayer is basically Halo 3's multiplayer with only trivial additions.

Halo wars: Perhaps the worst halo game ever made, not to say that it was necessarily BAD, the actual game was good and it was made by the developers of Age of Empires. The problem with the game wasn't that it was bad, it was just that it was an RTS, on an xbox. Building an RTS for a console is one of the worst ideas I can think of, controllers are just not built for level of accuracy and quick swiping you need for an RTS. Maybe if they made it turn based, but overall halo wars was just not very fun, even if it did everything it could right.

Halo Reach: Halo reach was better than ODST and 2 but not as good as 1 or 3. It offered something new and was a good send off with bungie, adding some new additions to multiplayer and what-not, it was fun. Overall though, tbph, it was rather forgettable. It didn't really revolutionize the game in any significant way, it didn't advance the story and didn't really advance the game mechanics much. It was just basically tuning what was already there and while it does do a successful job in it, it doesn't stop it from being simply forgettable.

Halo 4: Halo 4 was... confusing. I didn't know if it was a great new start to the fantastic series, or whether it was a disappointing divergence that relied too much on current trending tropes in games like quick-time events. The game was good, and was pretty fun to play the campaign, multiplayer was ok but I didn't play much of it. I would probably put it right around halo 2, it was less forgettable than reach as it did change a bunch of things, but I think they've jumped the shark a bit with the story and the prometheams could have been funner to verse against. Also the scope and scale of the series seems dimmed, the Didact doesn't seem like as much of a threat as the flood, so it's just sort of a game that's there. I liked it but not as much as I wanted to like it.

I realised we all never celebrated or mentioned Halo's 'birthday' mid November, nahw man XD
So happy late birthday, Halo :P
15 years is quite a long time.

I still haven't tried Halo ODST or Halo Wars (there is now a Wars 2 Beta, I think it's a free demo on Xbox One now), but I have indeed heard bad things about it.
With Halo: Reach *spoilers* I would argue it's actually one of my favourite Halo games. Although I did miss the whole Master Chief thing. It was showing more of the story from a different side. Not only was it a prequel, but it also used a lot of information and references to other things we already knew about (that is, having played the other Halo games already). I liked how it ended with Captain Keyes and the Pillar Of Autumn, how your last level was to survive as long as you could while/after you tried to protect the ship from leaving Reach from enemy fire.

I did think it was ridiculous most died in stupid ways. Either self-sacrificing (except for the first death, but still :/) or being killed in the most stupid way. Like Kat. Yeah, I wanna bet everyone knows what I'm talking about there if they played Reach.
Although it took a while for me to figure out. The theory proposed by someone was that her armour was malfunctioning (as I think others had this issue too) due to some EMP blast that happened straight before?
I can't recall, I'd have to play it again (for like the third or fourth time :P) to double-check this.
But then that death would make 'sense'. Ehhh.
Just those deaths. It felt like they wanted too badly to get rid of all the characters before the planet's inevitable glassing would appear, as these are Spartans, meaning to die fighting. I suppose ._.
That doesn't excuse some silly self-sacrificing bull, though, in my opinion.

I remember playing Halo:CE back when it first came out. When I lived in Florida, there was this place where you would pay like 25$ a head and you could play any game they had as much as you wanted. They had computers for CS:Source LAN games and an Xbox with controllers. I went with my brother and we played the coop campaign. It was one of the greatest moments of my childhood and I will cherish it forever.

That's pretty cool, Arthur Ravarius :D

As of which, MrRazot informed me of something pretty cool!
There is a script released for Halo 6. You heard it right!

There is a catch, however, which is that it is a joke-script.
All I could find on it was just two pages. Are there more pages? It seems like there is more, judging by the photographs.
Anyways, here it is, figured it might give some a chuckle or laugh.

I played Halo 5 co-op. Unfortunately it is indeed only via online multiplayer, but the two of us still had a blast ^^

My honest opinion about the Halo, it should have ended at 3.

Sure Reach, 4, even ODST and Halo Wars were fun, and they expanded the story, but I've always felt that halo was meant to be a trilogy, not an expanded universe. I felt halo 3 was the ultimate finisher to the franchise, and then they added spin offs and you thought "alright, I guess this is ok cause it's just exploring different timelines in history" and now they're adding a whole new franchise for halo 4,5 and probably 6.

It's not 343 that's the problem IMO, it's the fact that they're continuing to make Halos. You can make too much of a good things.
