Title: Favourite Art Style/Artworks/Artists
Post by: Ventus Fall on August 29, 2016, 08:09:36 PM
Hello everyone :D

So I figured to create a topic where we can discuss what our favourite art styles, artworks, and artists are.
It's not only to discuss, but also share around various art styles and pieces that you might have come across.
Be sure to credit the artist and/or link to their dA/FA page who made the picture if you're sharing any!

I can go first to show an example :P

I mostly like this clean, but sketchy art style. It's my favourite art style out there.
Example of this type of art style would be this piece:

LiLaiRa (on deviantArt) (http://lilaira.deviantart.com/art/Second-Half-Of-Soul-375031121)

Personally, other techniques in drawings I really enjoy is adding some form of depth to it by making objects -or part of objects- which are closeby or far-away somewhat blurred.
Like this picture:

PS: I know this is already formulated in the rules, but please keep this topic clean. Do not post any NSFW pictures or link to any NSFW artists. Keep it neat and tidy for everyone ;D

I'm actually a big fan of a few different styles, but one sticks out to me: a combination of flat cartoon-style drawings intermixed with intricate patterning and watercolor details. Probably the best example of this is from Walking Your Octopus, the best coffee table book ever made:

I think as a whole I look for highly intricate styles, something which my eyes can get lost in from all the fine detail.

By the way, having an octopus to apply henna would be amazing.

:3

P.S: The artist's name is Silverfox5213 on Deviant art. Bru the reflection in the eyes though. (Makes me want to squeal and hug something/someone.)

Just cause I like this one too:

Sandor: Art Nouveau is gorgeous. I've taken a few stabs at it in the past, to so-so effect. Maybe I should try again.

My biggest inspirations for drawing style are certain comic book artists. They don't draw anthro, but their style and skill are what I aspire to.

All these styles are quite amazing! I love how you are all participating in this thread :D

Also, I just want to point out to John Red Beard:
I really like that type of comic style as well. Sometimes I wish I would draw like that myself :P

One of the many artists I watch, who is on deviantart, has made a piece of one of my favourite things!
Spawn.

Here it is:

I believe this he calls this type of style Vector art. And I love his vector artwork. Especially this picture.

Black and white, simplistic, different, eerie kind of art style -YZXT
Realistic, smooth, lots of detail, different -REYKAT
Both on DeviantArt, check them out.

Ventus: That's quite complex for vector art. I'm impressed. I do a lot of vectors myself but nothing that intricate.

John Red Beard: I don't much time to respond, but want to say this: Been following the dude since around 2010/2011 on my previous dA account and since then he's gotten his own company and worked more and more on his style.
This is the first piece I could find he uploaded to dA:

(http://img06.deviantart.net/eda0/i/2010/171/4/c/coldfire_hound_by_chasejc.png) (http://chasingartwork.deviantart.com/art/Coldfire-Hound-168402614)

He made a comic based on two dragon creatures he created: Coldfire (the one shown in the picture) and Karnage.
It really got me into that style :)
