Title: Fallout: To the Stars
Post by: Romulan_Furry on August 17, 2016, 01:49:26 AM
War. War never changes.

It's been more than twenty years since the NCR held Hoover Dam against the forces of Caesar's Legion. The courier that assisted the NCR, for whatever reasons, vanished into NCR territory. During this time, the Legion retreated temporarily, to regroup and reorganize. This effort was hampered by the death of Caesar and Legate Lanius. Lanius had died during the second Battle of Hoover Dam, at the hands of the Courier. Caesar, a year later, from a tumor. Their deaths resulted in a civil war that would have torn the Legion apart before they could ever threaten the NCR again had it not been for the iron will of one man - one calling himself Romulus. Rising from nothing, Romulus united the warring factions of the Legion under his banner, and proclaimed himself emperor. He rebuilt the Legion's forces in what was once Caesar's territory, and returned to the Mojave Wasteland to avenge Caesar's defeat. Romulus waged bloody war on the NCR, but the NCR, having grown more powerful in the twenty years since Hoover Dam, held against Romulus' assault.

But beyond Romulus' empire, a new threat had arrived - a foreign power looking for a new land to call their own. English-speaking, but European-originating, these foreigners made a dangerous trek from their once-proud homeland of Russia - now a barren, desolate wasteland unable to sustain them - and found their way to the Mojave Desert. Exhausted, and convinced this land had what they needed, the forces of the Reborn Russian Federation sent scouts across the wasteland to better determine what they were dealing with, while they set up base in an unexplored region on the Utah-Nevada border. Once established, the Russians learned of the NCR and the Legion. Unwilling to risk their newfound home, the Russians declared them both enemies of the RRF, and mandated that agents of either faction be executed if deemed a threat to RRF operations. As time passed, the RRF grew, expanding into Nevada. Not long after the Russians arrived, NCR and Legion forces began suffering mysterious losses to unidentified raiding parties bearing the symbol of a sword. NCR sent scouts to investigate - Legion sent their Frumentarii. Both reported back of an unexpected, uninvited faction now making a bid for territory in the Mojave. However, unwilling to set aside their sordid history and stark differences, the NCR and Romulus' Legion fought with these new invaders as they fought each other. The invaders' advance, though numerically and technologically superior, was halted, and the war degenerated into a stalemate. None of the three factions could gain any new ground against the others.

But, among the stars, something incredible had brewed. An alien vessel, arriving entirely by chance on an exploratory mission, is caught in an ambush, damaged, and forced to plummet into the Mojave Wasteland. The ship, though heavily damaged, manages to survive with certain systems intact. The crew survived, mostly intact, but now find themselves stranded on a hostile and alien world they know nothing about. The ship's attackers, believing themselves victorious, left. The Russians, hoping to gain something that would help them defend their new home, sent a team of their highly-skilled Spetsnaz Commandos. The Legion, unwilling to let any assets fall into enemy hands, sends teams to destroy the ship and any who survived the crash. The NCR, aware of the fallen ship yet unwilling to send it's own forces to lend aid to the ship's survivors, hires a team of Mercenaries to go to the fallen ship and extend the hand of the NCR.

This is where you come in. You are one of the mercenaries hired by the NCR. Your mission is simple: Go to the crashed alien ship, offer the aid of the NCR, and assist the crew of the downed ship however possible. However, you may find yourself doing much more than the mission profile specifies...

*** RULES ***

Standard RP rules apply. Aside from that, try and play nice, and any characters that you want to have on board the crashed alien ship must be run by me through PMs.

*** CHARACTER PROFILE(S) ***

Profile layout is as follows:

Name:
Age:
Race: (I don't mind humans, but I am going for furries in this RP)
Weapons: (Try and use something from the games or something that used on Earth. If you have a weapon idea, but are not sure it's acceptable, PM me.)
Apparel: (Unless I approved the armor [and again, if you're not sure, you can reach me via PMs], try and use something found in the Fallout Games. Provide a link if possible.)
Class/Specialization: (Your profession [bounty hunter, soldier, hunter, etc.] or what you specialize in [Melee Weapons Specialist, Rifle Specialist, etc]. Any class that was aboard the crashed ship must be run by me.)
Bio: (A little info on your character, try and include how they came to be hired for this mission.)

My starting character (Not aboard the ship) is as follows:

Name: Jessica Williams
Age: 26
Race: Red Vulpine
Weapons: AK-101 loaded with 5.56-caliber Magnesium-Tungsten ammo
Apparel: US Army Combat Armor, scavenged from an armory at The Divide.
Class/Specialization: Team Leader
Bio: A mercenary who has a long-standing friendship with the NCR, Jessica is always the first to volunteer for missions from the NCR Military. Armed with her trusty AK101 loaded with ammo she had custom cast in NCR territory, and adorned in Combat Armor she scavenged from a short foray in The Divide, she has time and time again proven reliable and efficient, and the NCR specifically requested she lead this mission. While not normally one to indulge in fantasies of space ships and aliens, she couldn't turn down the chance to aid the NCR again.

Good, good! Assuming we don't get any other joiners (though more would certainly be welcome), I'll get this started as soon as I can.

--- Ardent Devotion  14 hours after impact. local time: 2100 (9PM) ----

'GRRAA!!" Slammed the arms of a silver armored Sangheili onto the consoles keypad getting nothing from  her computer console.

"Calm down I got it."Alex a Blue colored vixen  in Mjolnir Gen3 armor (lookup Mark VI Mjolnir. armor) replied "Shipmaster Zamam, the damage looks pretty severe that blasted Klingon vessel hit us pretty hard, the engine core is gone,  Weapons are offline,  External Comm systems are offline and we lost the grav lift system when we impacted the surface, I'm honestly not sure what is left, the computer system seems to be intact, but we'll likely have to wait for the damage teams report to know the fully extent of the damage, Alex Out." The dark blue furred vixen said to the internal comm system the only one that still worked

 --- Good springs Gas station 2105 (9;05pm) ---

a Enclave Hellfire armored person  had watched the whole thing unfold a large meteorite  breaking through the atmosphere and crashing into the  Nevada desert some miles away, taking off the helmet revealed a silver fox head  and muzzle  blue eyes staring into the night sky, wondering what the heck had just happen it wasn't normal for that big of an object to crash land out here in the Nevada desert.

Raz awoke in his cage, dazed and confused to what happened, but saw the status of his area, a few hanging wires from the ceiling, one being live and dangerously close to his metal cage and when one of them made contact with his cage and he let out a roar in pain, he then tried to slam against his cage door, but only made dents in it, but he did manage to move his cage out of the way of the hanging wire, but he had a large shard of metal in his side and he roared out for help because that's what he was told to do if he was injured, "GRAHHH!!"

A medical team headed to Raz's area to check up on him. While they went about treating Raz, the ship master of the Ardent Devotion - Bako 'Zamam - continued to go over damage reports. One thing was for certain - the reports coming in were increasingly negative.

"What did this to you?" one of the medics asked Raz.

"Ensign," one of the medic's subordinates said, indicating hanging wires.

*** Camp McCaran, Near New Vegas ***

Jessica had been sleeping on one of the cots generously provided by the NCR forces at Camp McCarran when she heard the commotion. She walked outside in time to see what appeared to be a flaming meteorite break the sky and crash somewhere in the Mojave Desert. Thinking it was nothing to worry about, Jessica went back to bed.

*** Hoover Dam, 1030 Hours the following day ***

Colonel Cassandra Moore sat at her desk, waiting for her mercs to show up. She had already contacted Jessica, because she already knew she could be counted on. While waiting, she worked on her computer terminal.

Raz gave one of the medics a lick on their cheek as thanks for patching him up, he then tried to get up, but ultimately fell back down when he put pressure on it, having done something to hurt himself when the ship crashed , and he let out a whimper as he fell back down, seemingly making the floor shake, "Ar...arm.... brok... broken...", his previous speaking sessions seemed to have paid off, but still needed work.  Raz laid outside his cage on his side, giving complete access to his foreleg that was broken.

"Poor dear," the medic said as she set to work on Raz's broken foreleg. "Is there anything else broken or injured?"

*** Hoover Dam, 1055 Hours ***

Jessica walked in to Colonel Moore's office, and Moore saluted her. "Miss Williams," she greeted her.

"Colonel Moore," Jessica returned the greeting. "Hope you don't mind, but I gave a recent acquaintance a call - gal that's good with tech. Thought she could be useful on this op."

"Can you trust her?" Moore asked.

"Too early to say, but she's got no love for the Legion, I can tell you that much," Jessica responded. "She should be arriving within the hour."

"She'd better hurry - I've received reports that both the Russians and the Legion are on the move in response to that crashed 'meteorite'," Moore said.

--- Hoover Dam, 1100 hours ----
"Russisans?" Asked a voice as a heavily armored person walked in  Hellfire armor to be exact. "Somebody told me  there's a good deal in checking out this crash site for a merc contract, what exactly are we talking about and how am I getting paid Paper money, Caps?"Jaden asked stepping into the room "Sorry for the Delay I think My armor scared most of your troops."

---  Ardent Devotion ---

"Sensors back online we're picking up a high amount of radio activity to our northeast, may be radio equipment we could either tap into to send a message or use to make our own makeshift beacon." Alex noted.

"As always it's up to you, Shipmaster." responded the Silver armored Elite next to Alex.

"What did this to you?" the medic asked Raz.

*** Hoover Dam, 1100 Hours ***

"Caps or NCR Dollars, your choice," Moore responded. "And as far as what we're talking about... we have reason to believe that the meteorite that crashed last night was a ship. What we want to know is if there were any survivors, and if there are, to extend the aid of the NCR - as much as we can - to them. But we need to be quick about it - I've received reports that both the Legion and the Russians have mobilized forces to that area. The Legion will doubtlessly try and destroy the ship; however, we don't know what the Russians will do."

*** Ardent Devotion crash site, 1105 hours ***

The sensors on the crashed ship soon would pick up new contacts - heat and seismic signatures equivalent to two unidentified ground forces, roughly thirty kilometers out.

 --- Hoover Dam, 1101 Hours ---
Jaden, the Silver fox in the Hellfire armor , crossed her arms to think about it for a minute revealing  a logo (http://halo.bungie.net/Stats/emblem.ashx?s=70&0=21&1=2&2=12&3=21&fi=56&bi=41&fl=1&m=1) where the Enclave logo had once been on her armor. "You'll have to give me some notes on the Russians for me to read later sounds like we don't have much time, I'm in, we'll discuss payment at a more appropriate time." The armored vixen replied, tapping something on  her forearm, just below her wrist.

--- Ardent Devotion ---

"Shipmaster we've got multiple beings heading towards the ship I'm unable to fully ID what o who they are at the moment." Alex noted , trying to see if any of the external camera's were working.

"Likely the Crash." Said a Sangheili  in silver armor "Why did we put him in that Cage anyway?"

Raz shrugged, "Lou... loud bang... someth... thing hit... mm-mme... Sleeping...", Raz's cage had originally been anchored to the floor, but it's seals that bound it had been damaged in the crash, as did everything else that was held the other storage crates around him, one small enough flew through Raz's cage, hitting his wings, dislocating them from the sudden impact, another flying into Raz's cage, hitting his head hard and knocking him out, "Wings... g-go... um.. pop and fe...feel nu... um ... numbe...", his speaking isn't all that good...

Bako accessed the external sensors that were functional, and got a look at the approaching ground forces. One group was dressed in what looked similar to Roman Legion attire, but with more modern material; the other was dressed in uniforms that looked nearly identical to that of Earth's Russian Spetsnaz. Neither group seemed aware of the other, as they were coming from two different directions.

Both groups were making a straight beeline for the Ardent Devotion. It didn't take Bako much to figure out they were not friendly. "All hands, defensive positions!" he shouted over the intercom. "We have heavy inbound hostiles!"

In the Cargo Bay with Raz, the medic looked to Raz upon hearing the Shipmaster's order. "I'll stay here and patch you up, big guy," she told Raz.

*** Hoover Dam, 1115 hours ***

Jessica headed for the Dam's exit, after getting fully-loaded with her 5.56mm Magnesium-Tungsten ammo and a dozen grenades. In a holster was her FN57. "Here we go..." she murmured before taking a look around to see if Jaden was behind her.

Jaden was Right behind Jessica, placeing her helmet back on a small hiss sound could be heard as her armored suit sealed, "I know we don't know each other very well ,but I think if we head into a fire fight you should stay behind me, Hellfire armor can take most  types of rounds and smaller ones tend to bounce off, so I guess, i'm trying to say. I'm not against you using me for cover just keep in mind I may need to back up too." The silver Vixen noted as she loaded her Rifle with rounds and then made sure her plasma rifle had charge.

--- Ardent Devotion ---

"Romans and Russians ,  where the  slag are we?" Alex asked mostly to herself accidentally over the comm system as she placed her own helmet on, suit hissing as it sealed.

The Silver Sangheili stayed with Raz and the medic, being their guard for the moment she grabbed a plasma rifle from off the wall nearby.

Raz looked at Alex and looked happy, "He... hello, Al-Alex... wha... what's hap-pening ou... out ther?... Drill?", luckily and unfortunately, Raz had never been in a situation involving an actual fight and had only been in drills, but was normally forgotten when they called the drills, having planned a different drill later... but they barely ever had him do it, but was still concious of them, "Alex?"

Raz pointed to a live hanging wire, "Sh...shocking...", pointed to a pile of boxes on a far wall, "Boom an... and sleep...", he said what had happened I'm the shortest way possible, hoping the medic would be able to explain about the ship crashing,  crates dislocating his wings, another knocking him out, and a live wire that electrocuted his cage and himself.

"Poor dear took a beating when the ship crashed - severe electrical burns from fallen wires, those boxes dislocated his wing, and one hit him over the head and knocked him out." She looked to Raz. "I'm gonna give you something for the pain, try not to be alarmed." She nabbed a syringe, filled with a clear-as-water medicine designed to numb the pain in Dragons.

Outside, the two ground forces steadily approached the Ardent Devotion, becoming clearer and clearer that these were the forces of Romulus' Legion and the RRF Spetsnaz Commandos.

What Alex would see from both groups would be them setting up camps, with makeshift barricades manned by personnel at all times. "Can you see what they're doing?" the Sangheili asked Alex.

The medic continued to work on Raz as he slept. It was then that Shipmaster 'Zamam came down. He was about to speak to Raz when he noticed he was asleep. He chuckled, then stroked Raz's snout. "Sleep well, pal."
