Title: Making a Fur
Post by: KitsuneSix on December 30, 2006, 11:23:16 AM
I've been trying for hours, I just started to develop today. Yes I know Rome wasn't built in a day.
But I have a really beautiful animal skin tone that I have in mind to create. I've downloaded Mayu22's body template, the one with all the skin tones. I open it up and all I can figure out is how to change the full color of the skin, but when I try painting anything else, it says it's locked, or when I select something, say nail polish for instance, and use the paint bucket to fill it in.. but the color doesn't change, it's like that with everything. Can someone help me pleeeeeasee?
Thank you for your time.

I'm not an expert with PS. But you need to unlock the ceratin layers. There should be a padlock type thing next to the name of the layer, in the layer palett. Click it and it should unlock.

I tried clicking it, it does nothing. Then double clicking it, and it just opens properties for the layer. =\

graphic map? you mean the body thing? I'd do that, but I don't know how to color anything.

The black bit with all the lines on it.

I use the brush. I don't like flood fill.

How do you use that? or whats it called? I'm messing with the gradient tool, but I don't think this is the right one. If it is, it's just giving my a line when I drag.

Yeah that's it. It depends on the file. I usually use the templates from IMVU's dev section.

Ok, i'm getting the hang of it, I think I understand the concept, but I still need to know how to add a texture I created to it. And any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you once more. =^^=

Add a small, square which tesselates seamlessly to your texture catalogue.

One word - EyeCandy

Awesome set of texturing filters, great for both Photoshop and PaintShopPro.

The next question is how do you get the skin on a body to test it out? I've been looking over the development tools but can't figure out how to get a body to load in the 3d window  :th_PyongLlora:

You have to derive from an iMVU skin first, that will get it to load.

I am going to write a tut about this sometime after I get all the webring stuff written.

I excpet all questions will have answers in Razi's tutorial. But she's been busy and like "OMG gmod powers *zap* *zap* *zap*" trying to clean the forum up a bit and get it running a bit more smoothly and also working on the Furry Webring too.

So if everyfur just waited a litttlle bit longer, you'll have all the answers you can wish for.

I know, but I have the body template and the head template. How do I make them both work on the viewer?

ooh!  :">

The body goes into the first box, then scroll down and you will see where to put the head texture.
