Title: how to make a mix minus via fx send on a audio mixer
Post by: saph the sergal on February 15, 2016, 03:40:16 PM
well as the title says how would i make a mix minus via fx send since thats the only option my mixer has (i cant afford anything more right now)

i will be using the Behringer Xenyx 802 usb mixer with a audio techinca at2020 with skype on a nuc and not my main computer that will have my main skype that i dont want to record into unless i change the settings back (when im not needing the mixer for my main skype it will have my gamescom headset altho i would rather transition to the mixer as i free up a usb port)

so if anyone can help me that would be great as all the ones ive found online are using a aux send only

Are you trying to mix a microphone channel, for a song? Like, you're recording vocals?

YOu're kinda confusing me. You're recording for a podcast? Great. You have a mixer, great.
You don't need a second PC.  You're confusing me. You want a mix that records your mic in skype aswell as your mic? Or do you want to just record your voice? Or do you want to record your voice AND your comptuer?

let me explain this better

the mixer is going to be serving 2 jobs
the podcast once a week
streaming games when i play them and broadcast

the mix minus is used when i do the podcast to send the main mix to the second computer running the podcast skype and music (free some diskspace on the main one) and doesnt send back the callers voice thats the minus part of it

when im streaming i want to send all computer audio (i know how to get cables and that connected) to the mixer and back to my main pc

the mix minus is used in the podcast and when just doing normal skype calls with friends

the issue im having is the mixer only has the fx send output

what im trying to do im make the mix so that only the mix with my voice goes back to skype and no echo from the incoming skype

So, you're getting an echo from skype?
(A little puncutation and capitalization goes a long way, friend.)

ok go do this

find your headset/mic, go to recording devices in sound, go to listen in the propiteys, apply the listen to this device, and then play something

annoying isnt it?

that echo is what im trying to remove in skype for the caller but yet not affect the main mix thats sent to them

So long you're using headphones or set up your microphone gain low enough not to pick up speaker audio it should be a non-issue.

Per default the echo-like thing is only played for you and NOT heard over Skype to the caller.

timmy believe it or not when a mix is done it can push audio to others including the echo from them and it confuses them thats why you make the mix minus

thats the basics of it but with the xlr being used and 5/6 being second inputs from the little nuc the thing im trying to do is use the fx to minus the echo and the fx sending back to skype
