Title: goign to have to put my dog down tonight
Post by: ¿ Jesse Pawman ? on October 19, 2007, 07:15:09 PM
She's getting too old and sick to stay afloat in life. She can barely walk and she can barely squat to pee. She's really suffering. We're going to have to put her down tonight. :th_PyongLlora: Poor Abby. She's fifteen years old though. I've known her ever since I can remember. Please help me through this tough time.

Awwws...I'm really sorry.

Atleast she'll be without pain and she'll cross the rainbow bridge.

Don't break. People and animals pass out. Every lifeform must die someday. At least she's (or was, sorry if I'm wrong) a lucky one, cause she lived very long (in dog's norm) But why euthanasia?!?! Since I can even remember I hated this type of solving problems. Animals have rights to live, how she can tell you: "Please, don't kill me, I'll pee correctly next time, just don't send me to death and let me live till I'll die in natural way" I feel sorry for you and her...

I think it's wrong to put animals to sleep. They should die just like humans. Naturally. We (most of the time) just keel over in our chair and die. Pets have to have shots in them? That's not ethical.

Ah, I know it's hard. I had to deal with it not too long ago with my cocker spaniel, Molly.
I miss her dearly. But remember, she's not suffering anymore.

My condolences. I'm sure you're going through a rough time. I'm still getting over when my cat that I had known all my life was put down last year. But it's true, she doesn't have to deal with her pain anymore.

Thanks guys. After we put her down, I happened to look outside and saw a thin strip of sunlight shining through the clouds. The kind that has rays running from it to the Earth. I smiled.

On that second picture, you can see part of my other dog to the left, and the cat laying on the big speaker behind Abby, and the ghost in the doorway on the very right. (orb)

Abby didn't go down without a fight. She didn't want to get into the Durango, out of the Durango, and into the office. She was a heavy thing too. She was stubborn also. She hated baths and being brushed and cleaned. (as you can tell by the tear stains on her face).

She didn't really play with toys much. I think her original owner beat her a lot with various things.

I am really sorry to hear about this. Last year at around this time, we put my Yorkshire Terrier of 18 years down, and it was very difficult, since I had had him for so long it was actually impossible for me to remember a day without him.

We put him down because he became senile. Listen guys, euthanasia is not a bad thing. It really isn't. My pup was sitting in his water dish, couldn't see or hear anything. Life was nothing to him anymore.

When you adopt a dog, you are essentially becoming their guardian. You have responsibilities not just to keeping them alive as long as possible, but to ensure the quality of their life. When people get old, many times they are put on life support, and it is up to their guardian to decide what to do. It's actually more like torture to keep a dog going, when life isn't fun for them anymore. Like you said, they can't voice that they are ready to go.

I am very sorry to hear of your four legged friend, but you did her a great favor, and she is much happier now! All she ever wanted for  you to do is be happy, and even in her passing I'm sure she would want you to focus on the good times.

I also know what it is like to lose a pet. I had my cat Bonnie put to sleep after we had found the kitten in the engine of my mom's car 18 years ago
