The Battle of Stalingrad (23 August 1942 – 2 February 1943) was a major battle of World War II in which Nazi Germany and its allies fought the Soviet Union for control of the city of Stalingrad (now Volgograd) in the south-western Soviet Union. It is often regarded as one of the bloodiest battles in the history of warfare; the axis suffered 850,000 total casualties, and the USSR suffered about 1,129,620 casualties.

Short history: Like many of the men recruited into the soviet army, Yefim was conscripted at a young age. He showed remarkable skill with his rifle during training, and was promptly given a sniper rifle, and was told to go shoot Nazis. He gladly took this opportunity; shooting them from where they can't see you is much better than charging at them with a PPSH. He was glad that he could best serve stalin in such a way that kept him far from the conflict, yet he was still able to directly kill the Fascist invaders.
