Title: Summer Reading! (The fun kind)
Post by: Sigcutio on April 25, 2013, 07:46:58 PM
Summer break is just around the corner, which for me means reading time!! What you all are planning on reading?

I myself aim to jump back into the Redwall series and (hopefully) finish it up! Other than that, though, I don't really have a ton of books I should get to so maybe I can get some good ideas from all of you guys  XD

Well, if you're up for fantasy books, I myself think the
Aqua Silva trilogy of Anselm Audley is pretty good.
And the book series of Elizabeth Haydon with her character Rhapsody.

Hey thanks! I had never heard of the books before. I'll have to look them up!  :D

No problem :)
If you need help with the titles or anything, I don't mind looking them up for you either, I got them right here in my room x3
And if you do read them, let me know what you think, ok? (:

Hmm, well, to be honest, I still have to finish reading some of Elizabeth Haydon series xD
Oh yeah! And if there are any new Darren Shan books, I'll get those too. I'm a huge fan of his books. I especially like the Demonata series x3
He has his own webpage, need a link to that? You can check it yourself whether you like it or not :) I would like to hear your opinion on it ^^

My reading list is longer than ever, but for the summer I plan to read the Wheel of Time Series again (15 books long, each book ~1000 pages long) and the Song of Fire and Ice series (Game of Thrones).

Just looked up Darren Shan! Holy cow his books look intense! I'll have to check him out for sure! Never really looked into the horror genre for books. I'll see how it goes ^^

Also that's mightily impressive, Otebon! The Wheel of Time series always looks pretty enticing from the bookshelves. I hear it's a wonderful series. As for Game of Thrones that's pretty popular and it'd be fun to finally see what all the fuss is about! Thanks for bringing up some new books to try :)

I'm going to read the novel a friend of mine is writing, called "Blades of Cairndale." ^_^ It's still in progress, but he's sent me several chapters of it, so I'm finally gonna check it out! I've read several excerpts he's posted online, and from what I've read, it's really good!

I'll be re-taking Grade 12 English this summer and I've been given some books to read for that class. I have to read:

Hamlet (A play by Shakespeare)
Life of Pi (Yann Martel)
Brave New World (Aldous Huxley)

I also plan on reading through the Rain Wildes Chronicles series by Robin Hobb (I'm already around 130 pages into the first book and I'm loving the series so far, very good series if you're into dragons and fiction/mythical stuff). As well I'm hoping to read quite a few others including Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained by John Milton and Confessions of an English Opium Eater by Thomas DeQuincey.

When it comes to the summer I loveeee to spend my leisure time sitting out in the warm summer weather on my porch or on my patio and just reading the afternoons away (Besides, it's too hot up here in my room to play video games all afternoon anyways x3).
