Title: Bred to Serve
Post by: Aldrea945 on February 14, 2013, 04:41:30 AM
Paws kick up pieces of dirt, running claws-out past the orange and red covered trees.  The moon, full and looming high above, sent silver light over a lithe form.  Chill winds whipped up in the little park.  She never shivered, though, brown eyes focused exclusively on her goal ahead.  A wide manhole had been partially covered by the roots of an old oak, leaving only enough space for the cloaked young lady to jump through.  She landed quietly, barely stopping a moment before continuing to run through the tunnels.

Filth coated her paws, previously white, as she slowed to conserve her energy.  The smell of waste clogged her nose and shifted her stomach, forcing her to pull a cloth over her mouth and nose.  She had no real qualms about the sewers, exactly.  They were just another place she had to go to complete her goal.  That said, the woods were certainly more pleasant.

A piece of paper, pristine white, stood out in the dark.  No one stood nearby, late to the meeting.  In the back of her mind, her training whispered to her.  'Perhaps it is an ambush.'

Rachel stopped, her cloak fluttering down against her as she slid a knife out.  Just in case.

This would likely be a long night.

Ratface loomed at the night sky, sniffing.
He thought about what had happened only a few hours ago. His master scolded him for the second time in his life. It was terrifying.

His master was angry, because he messed up a job he had.
Instead of actually sneaking into the house, stealing valuables and swiftly come back out again, Ratface found another furry creature in a room.
He was startled, he didn't expect anyone to be home. From then on he knew his master wouldn't be pleased with the mis-information he gave him about nobody being home at this hour.
Ratface asked why it was here and not with its master. The furry, a canine of some sorts, told him his master found out about some secrets of his, about a conspiracy he and some others were planning. So his master ordered him to stay in his room, while he would ask around town.

"You know he's going to kill you, right? When he gets back." Ratface said.
The canine lifted up his shoulders and shrugged, only half believing what Ratface implied.

Ratface just couldn't comprehend why someone would wait for their death so easily. The house wasn't even properly locked. Then again, perhaps he would do the same in this kind of situation. He wanted to please his master however he could by helping him make his life easier. But it was none of his business, so he left, forgetting about the goods. Which was why his master was so angry.
He wanted to investigate this conspiracy further, so he had gained some information from the canine. And now he was on his way to the sewers.
Nearly there, he thought to himself: Disgusting sewers.

Lorenzo walked silently through the sewers with his head bowed down, his chin to his chest. The only audible noise around him was the frequent dripping of filth and the soft splashes he made while walking through shallow puddle that gleamed with a green sheen. The smells witch where best compared to rotting meat, the walls where covered in a thick slime and moss grew everywhere. The water below his feel felt like a slime with bits of chunks here and there, and everything was dim, too dark for the average human. All of this would of made the common person gag on an instant, but he was breed to be tough and barely flinched at everything. His nose burnt, his feet itched, and his eyes might of watered, but he pushed on with his boots under his left arm.

The large feline has a thick chest that rippled with mussel, his legs and arms where equity as built. His head was extremely shaped to look like a felines, triangular and elegant in its own nature. His eyes where a deep blue that seemed to peer through everything he looked at and he held a stern flat frown. He was dressed in the normal uniform he was given by his owner, a green T-shirt with gray cargo pants, rolled up to avoid getting them wet and filthy, for if he where to show back up a mess, it would surely arise suspicion. At his waist he had a leather belt with a brooch in the middle, an emblem of his rank and how impotent his master was, and attached to the belt, was his sword in a steel sheath trimmed in silver, one of his finest positions that only four other of his guards had. The last piece that was noticeable about him was his collar around his throat, a steel banded collar that was about several pounds with four nubs on the right side and four on the left. At the back it was slightly larger with a rectangular and was where the energy came from when he was out of line, a constant reminder of who he was in this world.

It had been a week now sense he had seen the mystery person, whom ever they where, they showed up like a shadow at the edge of the estate along the fence. There face was hooded, casting an ery shadow over there face and there voice was electronically altered, giving him no idea if it was a male or female. But this one did give him hope of something better, told him how to escape down an old celler where there was access to the drainage system, and from there, into the sewers that lead under the city. Coming up to an iron grate fence he looked at the steel bars and the lock. Producing a key he was giving from the mystery person he unlocked the gate and let it swing open. To either side of him there where now walk ways up and out of the filth witch he took as the slop grew deeper with every step. Producing a map that the key was wrapped in he looked down at it before continuing on through the darkness, to where he was still unsure of.

Master's bedchambers were quiet, still. Nothing moved, except for Master Chase, occasionally rolling over in his slumber. It was so quiet, Luke could hear his own eradic heart beat. Master had permitted him to sleep, but he could not. If he slept, he dreamt, and he wasn't allowed to dream. He was only allowed to think, and then only in service of his Master.

There was pale moonlight entering the room from the large window on the oppostie side of the room, spilling into Luke's cage, causing his pure white fur to gleam. The cage was far too small for him, being more than six feet tall, so he sat there, hunched forward. The wolf sat there, breathing quietly, not wanting to awaken and anger his Master. Luke's collar hung heavily on his neck, and the tight, black pants he wore made his fur itch. But he never complained.

He kept a close eye on the clock, knowing his Master wished to be awoken early. They had an early meeting in the morning.

Rena walked through the sewers, trying to ignore what she was stepping in. "I shouldnt have listend to that note, Its probably a trap." She thought to herself. She had been left a note by a mystery person. She had found the note pinned to a tree right outside of her window. It said, Dear Rena, the solution to all of your problems lies deep within the central part of the sewers. Be there by nightfall. There is a manhole under this tree.
                                                                                                                             from-
                                                                                                                           a friend
She looked down and sure enough there was a manhole overgrown by moss and grass that she had never noticed before. She climbed back into her window, and took off her spotless military uniform, Putting on a dark blue t-shirt, tan cargo pants, and some old worn out boots. She climbed back out shutting her window carefully and silently, she entered the manhole, not knowing what to expect.

Rachel paced slowly, hand on one of her knives.  There was very little light, just that which filtered through the manhole cover above.  Thoughts ran through her mind, trying to distract her from what was around her.  If her Mistress, Captain Cava, found out that she'd snuck out for, well, anything, she'd be publicly executed at once.  The thought...  It didn't scare the girl, hardly older than a child, but there was less want for the idea than for her Captain to never know.  She'd seen death, faced it on more than one occasion and fought it off within an inch of losing.  There was nothing to fear from falling during duty.

Her train of thought was halted as pawsteps caught her attention.  The splashes meant whoever it was was much larger than her, stronger.  At first she thought it might have been Mistress Lucinda, the torturer, but she crushed those in a moment.  Mistress Lucinda was far more squeamish about waste than about blood, and would have waited above.  She was also much daintier.  This one made no effort to hide that they were there.

Rachel pulled her hood up.  Whoever it was, she'd make certain they never saw her coming should they be enemies.

An hour now he walked. The sewers grew bigger and other tunnies started to lead into the main one leading from his masters estate, the flow was also getting swifter but that did not stop any water from getting on the walkways, making every single step sound like a wet splash. Stopping above a service hatch he looked up, seeing the slitted top that was used to vent sewer gasses. Above there must of been a street lamp of some sort, something that was casting down a few rays of light, only to be block out every now and again from a passing car he assumed. He was far now, four miles, maybe more... he didn't know, he just knew it was quite a time he walked for, and he was never good with his math.

His ankles started to itch and the pads of his feet where getting sore. But it didn't bother him much, and the only real thing that disturbed him was a cut he got on her left wood from some debree that found its way along his path. Taking a deep sigh he reached up with his right hand rubbing at his face and his eyes before dropping his hand to his side and continued walking. Within minutes there where many passages that lead to his, and his map told him to start turning, so he did and followed the red markings, using the other tunnies as landmarks. Just then he stopped out of nowhere and lifted his head up. Fairing his nostrils he looked behind him, saw nothing. To the tunnel to his right, nothing aswell. Swearing her heard something he continued at a bit of a slower phase then before, this time with his ears erect and pointed behind him. What ever it was, he wasn't too sure if it was in front of him, or behind as the sewers messed with the sound too much.

The Mole was now in the sewers as well, scowering quietly through it. Just a few minutes ago he saw a tiger with large teeth walking past him. He kept quiet and said nothing.
Probably a Saber Tooth by the looks of it, he thought.  Or at least what I read in books, the only thing my master let me know about the real outside world...
He tried not to think about it anymore and decided to follow the other creature. He didn't know the way to go eitherway. A 'helping hand' would be nice.

Kayato made her way through the sewers. The smell was horrid, he didn't even know why she followed what the not said. it was so unlike her character. she hated walking through the sludge and her overly sensitive nose made things so much worse. each breath felt like it was burning her nose and lungs. She did make sure to bring her cloak and had it draw over her head and padded her hoves so she made little to no sound with them.

Water vapor billowed off the steel flanks of the speeding railcar leaving a glittering comet-tail of ice droplets in its wake, swept away in the seething wind. Overhead a single rail suspended it, hollowed out to carry a chain, thick links of steel each the size of a man. The chain howled as it was pulled along through the rail, in turn dragging the single railcar. Flecked raindrops and hail spat against the speeding steel engine. Either side treetops sped past, blurring together into a stream of pine needles and branches.

Scale is a difficult thing to judge, but while the chain-rail was impressive, it paled in comparison to its brother, a great steel ribbon that curved over the horizon. Suspended above the dark tree tops on great pillars of concrete and steel cable. The rail hummed, mass-inertia drives inside constantly spinning to help accelerate the long distance trains at ferocious speeds. Stormswept clouds scudded overhead, pouring down another deluge of sleet and wind, buffeting the maintenance railcar as it raced between the cleared line of treetops below.

The crackling melody of Non je ne regrette rien (http://youtu.be/rzy2wZSg5ZM?t=1m25s) echoed throughout the cramped interior of the railcar, music audible even over the clatter and shaking of the chain above. "Rosoyov, turn that down would you? Doing my head in, it is..." Rosoyov, a heavy-set, bear glanced across to the wildcat who spoke and reached over to the radio. After a moment the music lessened slightly, swaying back and forth in time with the shaking railcar. The two lines of similar workers sat strapped to benches down the carriage length, at its end a single seat occupied by a wolf. The black clean-cut uniform marked her out from the others, even without the species difference, in their jackets and overalls of khaki greys and brown, an officers cap pulled low over her brow. She sat watching the group of Slavs, grey eyes staring into the middle-distance as the chatter of the workers flowed thick and fast under the melody of the radio. The carriage shook again, and a screeching overhead followed by rapid deceleration as the drive chain slowed meant they neared the destination...

The office was swelteringly hot. Well, the small, hidden room with the listening equipment was hot, anyway. Master did not permit Luke to feel cool air, unless in danger of heatstroke. Luke sat at the desk, the headphones over his lupine ears, listening to the political machinations of Master's enemies. As a level I, he had a greater-than-average intelligence. But, he had a knack for strategy and politics. A skill which Master took great advantage of.
As he was listening in, he was also checking records and security recordings of the facility, to make sure no anthro's were escaping. No one was dumb enough to do so, but even so, there might be some desperate enough to try...and get lucky.

Rachel watched the large saber tooth carefully.  In a fight, she'd lose more often than not, even with the size advantage in the confined space.  She stepped forward, knife still in hand.  "Who are you?"  Her voice was hoarse and quiet, rarely used.

Dipping his head lightly he grunted softly from the tight space around him that was the sewers. The whole thing displeased him to no end, but he had to admit, it was one of the only way he would of even been able to move freely about, and be able to escape from the estate. Just as he was about to continue forward he heard it again, and snapped his head right just as a women came into view. On reflex he thought he was found out, that this whole plan was a ruse to see if he was loyal or not, to find a flaw in who he was...

With the distinctive rasp of steel on steel he drew his sword from his left hip, holding the blade in his right hand. The steel was a smooth polished silver with engravings along the entire blade. It was a true master piece and work of art, and yet sharp and tough enough to go through daily abuse, though he rarely used it with such force. Whipping his hand around he pointed the tip towards the women after seeing the glint of her dagger. But it was just then that her full image came into view, a furry, just like himself. Frowning his eyes would visibly dart about you, jumping from your face to your shoulders, your arms to your legs, your chest to then end back at your head. Lowering his sword some he tilted his head unsure what to make of this, but found her no threat to him, as far as he could tell.

"Lorenzo." Came the reply in a deep toned voice with a small German accent. Gripping the hilt of his sword he felt every ridge, every jewel, and every line of the leather/steel hilt, a feeling he knew very well. Jabbing in her direction with his saber he replied rather quickly saying, "And you, what are you doing here? You don't look like any sewer worker..."

Suddenly he saw a second cat creature, which 'attacked' the sabre tooth.
Ratface thought it best if he stayed even farther away. You never know what will happen if they found a rat like himself.
He slowly and silently lowered himself in the sewer's water, to mask his scent for the cat creatures and perhaps others too in the nearby area. It was disgusting, but at least he could wash himself clean in his master's house.
Besides the smell, Ratface actually enjoyed the water and was an excellent swimmer. Perhaps it was in his nature to be so.

"Everybody suit up, weather looks like it could turn freezing, so I dont want anybody out on that line shivering their tail off within in the hour..." Rosoyov stamped down the line of workers, heavy boots clanking on the steel-mesh floor panels of the carriage. The muffled howling of wind lashed the side of the railcar, clawing to find a way in around the shuttered windows and sealed door, the carriage rocked and shook as the chain above it screeched and ground to a halt. The railcar juddered and then fell still, silent now save a creaking and groaning as it rocked side to side and the dull hum of its engines.

For Katka, today was another day on the lines. A day the same as every other day had been since her indoctrination into the Department of Mass-Inertia Rail. She buckled up her jacket, checking straps on her harness and huffing a sigh. In front and either side of her the other workers pressed in close, the musty smell of sweat and heat all around. Towards the front, the lupine officer watched as Rosoyov checked down the line of workers, the nodded and spun the locking mechanism of the door. The steel hatch slid open, wind and sleet clawing its way in through the opening as the workers tramped out into the howling winds. Katka grimaced, pulling up her scarf over her muzzle and braced herself against the cold.

Rachel flicked one ear toward the rat, very aware of his presence.  However, she never looked away from the Sabor Tooth.  Even with the sword less than a foot from her, she didn't flinch.  It wasn't a rarity, after all.

"Rachel.  Meeting," she said.  Her speech wasn't the most elaborate, but it worked.  Mission coordinators prefered things on paper, and didn't appreciate back talk anyway.  This cat, if the armor was any indicator, would likely understand.

Blinking a bit in bewilderment he dropped her sword to his right side simply retaining his impassive gaze on her, a deep set of blue. Blinking once he tore his gaze away and lifted his sword, sheathing it back from where it came. "Was it-" Pausing through the sentince he frowned lightly, not knowing if it was a male or female, therefore not knowing how to lable this individuel. "-That person, who came to you too?" he said lowering his tone a bit to what would be normal of him, thought it still was deep reguardless.

The sewage smell was turning Kayato's stomach. She could still smell it even through her cloth. it stung at her eyes and she was starting to get dizzy. She remembered smelling something like this before, it smelled like.. like... try as she may she could not place it. Kayato started using the slime covered wall as a support to keep herself upright. She heard the voices but kept going, maybe these were the ones who sent the note..  She needed to get out of the sewers as soon as possible. Katato felt her hoof  collide with something and she nearly lost her balance. she stood completely still afraid to see what it was.... it was squishy and sounded mad.....

The wind pulled at Katka's jacket with chill grasping fingers, whipping the loose end of her scarf. Breath fogging before her she grasped the steel cable, currently the only thing holding her above certain death, the wind buffeted and pulled. With gloved hands she reached for a second piton, unreeling a length of cable and securing it to the steel hoop set into the wall of metal that rose above her. She fumbled, cold steel biting into the warmth of her hands, tugging on the cable until it ran taught. Above and below her others did the same, spreading out across the length of the great steel rail they moved like ants. Already those at the farthest edges of her view were obscured by mist, rolling in over the treetops to accompany the sheets of rain that poured down to patter off metal surfaces and worker's jackets. She suppressed a shiver and hauled herself up to the next iron rung, staring up at the huge rail above and the darkness of a long drop below.

"Wind is picking up!" Even Rosoyov's deep ursine voice struggled to be heard through the constant howl, his blue eyes roving over the length of the Mass-Inertia track and the workers who clambered over it with an anxious appraisal. At his side the wolven officer followed his gaze and then turned to him, one gloved hand clutching the railing that ran the length of the steel-mesh viewing platform. She narrowed her eyes against the seething rain and shouted back. "Can your workers finish the repairs in time?" At this Rosoyov nodded, the bear folding his arms across a broad chest. "Yes, they will get your work done in time for the next High-Speed train... I can count on them for that much."

Rachel simply flicked her ears as a yes.  She never once looked away from his eyes, unblinking.  She had gotten a report from an unknown associate, disguised as a cargo report, that mentioned no names.  The date and time were written plainly, and the place was only a small photograph in black and white.  At the time, she'd assumed one of the Captains had sent her a mission, but that pretense had dropped when she'd tried to fulfil it.  Still, curiosity was a tricky fiend, and impossible to catch without feeding.

She again flicked her ear in the direction of their newest companions.  "Rank."

As the day progressed, Luke remained in the surveilence closet. Master would be coming for him in another few hours, and he wanted to make sure he had sufficient data to present to Master. After Master debriefed him, Master would take him to the "special room", for some "rest and recuperation", as Master called it. But, as Luke sat there, in the sweltering, tiny room, he glanced at one of the security feed monitors, and saw a Fur walking through a hallway, unaccompanied by an Owner or guard. Luke frowned in frustration, reaching for the telegraph to the guards, and requesting the escapist be brought to his Master's office. Master preferred that no one knew how intelligent Luke truly was, so Luke pretended to be a mute. He didn't mind; he rarely had anything to say.

Luke stood in his Master's office, staring the escaped Fur in his frantic eyes.
"What wrong with you? You traitor to own RACE!" Luke frowned, then shook his head and walked away, leaving the guards to take the Fur to Euthinization Room.

Tilting his head off to one side he stared at you a few seconds, returning her left hand to rest on the hilt of his sword, each digit of his paw flexing lightly as if expecting a fight, almost a yearning for one. One last time his eyes would flicker about until he looked down at his much covered feet. Looking back up he rolled his shoulders saying, "Lorenzo, First division personal bodyguard to Human counsel member Etiee Kehhlo, class one..." Frowning at the end of his rather long winded rank it did give off just how dangerous he was, and how much of a risk he took, as for human counsel member did not just get any ordinary body guards to follow them, and having one he must of paied so much for, go stray, would also say something abut the whole furry race as a whole. Dipping his head some he righted his head, almost towering over you before she nodded towards you. "You?" he asked in return, asking for your rank as well.

Rachel's response was unflinching, although it was also a bit hard to hear.  "Assassin.  Army.  Class two," she said.  Her gaze was a bit unnerving after a few minutes, something that seemed to conflict with her comparatively small stature.  Her clothes didn't seem to match the weather either, being that it was something akin to a black leotard and weapons belt.  Her boots had been left at home.

(Uh, is anyone awake?) A flash of light came to their right, a nyga lantern.  Few used them anymore due to their tendency to shatter when too hot or cold, so it likely wasn't the army.  Rachel narrowed her eyes, wary, as a person in hood and blank mask stepped into their view.  There was absolutely nothing that could be made out about them, save their average stature.  When they chuckled, it was low and high and level.  Like that of thousands of beings instead of one.  "Thank you for coming.  We have much to talk of," it said.

Ratface waded through the stinking water to get a bit closer to the cat creatures and the newcomer.  When he saw a wolf-horse like creature stumble into the water, causing a ripple effect. He saw the disgusted and worried look on her face and decided help her, eventhough it might put him in danger.
He swum towards her and made sure she saw him, so she wouldn't startle.
"Need help getting out of the water?" He asked her, almost whispering.

Lorenzo stood there motionless as he turned off towards the direction of the light. Almost at once his pupils dilated as he took in the shape of this person. The hood was the very same he saw before, so this must be the one... Blinking once his eyes then darted behind him, giving the other two a sideways glance before looking back at the masked stranger. Running his thumb along the piece of paper he held he simply turned his body in her direction and waited a bit unpatented while the others gathered themselves up from the much. His anxiety was quite noticeable by how his tail twitched behind him, a shaggy thing it was like one would find on a wild wolf, as well as how he gripped the paper in his left hand.

Alice made her way through the labyrinth of the sewer tunnels in a cautious manner. worst idea... ever... master is to be angry upon my return... the though of future events startled her. she paused her walk and put a paw to her collar and tags. a small chill ran down her spine. though she enjoyed the cheerful jingling of the tags on her collar with each movement, she knew they would undoubtedly be her downfall if she ever had to hide.
i could turn back... no one would know... i shouldn't have fallowed kaya.. i think im lost.... covering her nose with her other paw, she cocked her ears down the sewer tunnel listening for voices. the odd smells of the sewer made it impossible for her to track kaya by scent. resuming her careful walk through the bowels of the city above, she rounded a corner abruptly running into a group of furs. "o-oh my... a-apologies..." lowering her head, she caught sight of kaya. upon seeing her, she ran to her side "we are going to be in trouble later... aren't we?"

Katka shivered, pulled the fur collar of her jacket up against the wind that roared past the steel girders of the Mass-Inertia rail line. A strand of her hair fluttered loose, the air buffeting  back and forth, she reached a gloved hand up and tucked it back under her Ushanka cap. Shivering again she gripped the wrench again, the cold of the steel biting to the bone even through her thick gloves, she glanced up to low rain-laden clouds racing overhead. To either side of her, and further down, other workers moved along the line slowly, replacing the worn bolts that held the rail in place...

"Get your workers off that line, immediately!" The wolven officer gripped the railing against the pull of the wind as she shouted, one hand thrown up to cover her eyes as rain lashed down over the platform, Rosoyov turned to her miming that he couldnt hear. She cupped her hand around her muzzle and shouted again, fighting to be heard over the storm "The one-oh-five high speed carrying a shipment of weaponry is early, due any minute! Get your workers off that line!"

Rain, cold and lashing in great deluges that poured over the steel structure of the rail-line soaked Katka, sodden and freezing. She shivered, gloved paws fumbling with the rappel line, she looked up from her work. Something was wrong. Visibility was poor, fog rolling in with the pouring rain, but even so she could no longer see the other workers on the line. A tinge of uncertainty, she pulled down her scarf, quickly scanning down both sides of the titanic steel rail, clinging to its side like an insect.

Slowly a hum grew in the steel under her hands, vibrations slowly growing until the whole rail-line reverberated and hummed. Hanging by her harness Katka's eyes widened, the wrench dropping from her grip to fall away into the darkness below, clattering off the girders and struts. She fumbled with the rappel line, the uncertainty growing into fear as the shaking of the steel underneath her grew steadily to a roar that drowned out even the wind.

She looked up a bit startled and nodded holding out her hand. She tried not to lose what dinner she was given as the water ran out of her fur.

Though he wasn't well-built or muscular, Ratface was very flexible and agile. He used these aspects to his advantage while pulling -and pushing- the wolf-horse creature out of the water.
"There, I know it smells, but that can be sorted out later. I can get you a fine shower without my master noticing it." He says truthfully.

There is this room for servants underneath their house. But without any servants, the room isn't of much use and is abandoned. Sometimes, when he goes out for a walk, he sneaks in the shower room for the servants when he returns home and makes himself clean again. His master suspects nothing.
He grins at the thought.

Ratface now turned his head slowly in a somewhat fearful manner and looked at the cat creatures...
Don't eat me... He thought to himself and a nervous smile ran across his face.

(Sorry I went missing.  School.  Tallice, We've got all the people we can have right now.  Sorry.  Any more and it get complicated, and I can't play favorites.)

The creature in front of them motioned behind it, to follow as it walked back toward where it came.  It passed Ratface and Kayato slowly.  Although age was not verifiable, it walked as though it had many years on it.  "I'd thought you'd stay home, away from such a vague note.  We'll see if this curiosity proves useful," it said, lantern illuminating only the barest traces of it's small figure.

Rachel followed through the sludge.  "Who you?" she said, pupils wide in the dimness.  This person did not sound like someone she knew, and she held no loyalty to such an odd figure.

The figure chuckled.  "I have forsaken my name.  You may call me Zaka, though.  Welcome to a self made hell."

Luke sat in his cage, his back and chest sore from the beating and pleasuring Master had given him. After Luke had debreifed him, Master had been terribly angry. But, of course, Luke did not complain; he was here at Master's wishes, and if he wished it, Master would dismiss him. As Luke sat there, he thought back to the Fur who had tried to escape. Where could he go? Luke thought. What could possibly be on the other side better than a Master's care?
Luke shook his head; it was too alien a concept for him to conceive. Still, the fur had made him curious...

The steel rungs of the ladder set into the Rail support strut were freezing cold, even through the thick gloves Katka wore. And everything shook... Through the blur of rain and wind the rungs of the ladder actually moved and jolted, jarring in her grip as she fumbled with every step. Faster, she climbed down, swearing under her breath as the roaring of the approaching train drowned out everything else. "Christ... Need to get down fast... Need to get down, christ, how did I not hear it coming before now?"

She brushed tears out of her eyes roughly with the back of a gloved hand, her boot slipping on the next rung below, the steel under her shook and rumbled as the roaring mass of the high speed train approached faster and faster. A great seething tail of steam billowed off its flanks as it powered forwards, suspended under the great ribbon-like steel rail as support struts whipped past in a blur. A single white light lanced out from the front engine, diesel fumes belching from it to be whipped away in the wind. And the noise. It roared and clattered, a noise great enough to drown out everything, even the massive steel rail hummed and stretched as it approached, close enough to blind Katka in that stark white headlight, the sound of a horn bellowing and echoing over the treetops through the whistling wind.

Somebody grabbed her wrist as the roar of the high speed train approached. Swung her bodily from the ladder onto a platform set into the support strut. Slammed her hard against the steel wall, looming over her. Set into stark contrast by the harsh white light, a large figure, black gas mask with tinted glass eye pieces glinting in the light. They stood over her as the train rushed past overhead, a great roar of air tugging the pair heavily, trying to drag them into the speeding rush of steel that passed by in a blur of smoke and clatter. Her heart pounded, wind whipping at her scarf as the figure kept a strong grip on her wrist, holding her down against the pull of the wind with a strength greater than her own.

Then the world exploded around her. A great rolling wave of heat, the sound a great roar and blast to drown out even the high speed train. The shrieking horn and sparks flying as the train sped by, a plume of fire and heat, great oily rolling flames and the entire steel strut shuddered, steel shrieking as the blast wave hit with as much force as the train would have. An instant slam into the darkness of unconsciousness.

T-thanks.... i... you don't have to do that for me. It's a nice gesture though.... *she gratefully accepts the hand up and also wearily looks at the Hooded creature and looks to ratface. "well... um... should we follow them?"

Ratface waved his arms around nervously. "No, no, it's fine. No trouble at all."
He swerved his head around to the others and the hooded being, then looked back at wolf-horse creature. "Perhaps that is a good idea..." Ratface was thinking about whether or not to ask what her name is, instead he said:
"Also, if you don't mind me asking, how am I allowed to call you? You can call me the Mole, if you'd like."

(Alright, FJ had plenty of time to respond.  Onward, my friends!)

Zaka's pawsteps were muffled by the grime around them as it lead the group into the tunnels.  The light of the lantern started to fade as they rounded a bend.  Rachel hurried to catch up, but stopped almost immediately at the bend, shocked at what lay before them.  A strong wall, poored with concrete, sat in front of the group, with no doorways for the creature to slip through.

(As a note, I only took up the other character to start us off.)

Luke studied the surveillence system closely, examining possible exit points that the Fur he had had executed might have used to escape. As his highly advanced mind kicked in, he started considering all the possibilities. Is there a group? Where would they meet? Are they keeping a cover? Was the Fur a member? Are the worried about him?
Luke shook his head, then went back to scanning. He found a possible escape route, open only at night. It went through the servant's quarters to the sewera. He committed the route to memory, then rose from the chair. Master had ordered him to investigate where the Fur might have been going. Little did Master know, Luke was just as interested as he was.
Though Luke had no fighting expertise whatsoever, he could talk his way out of almost any situation. He traced the Fur's paw-steps, then he reached the sewer cover. He braced himself, then pried the cover open, then slipped inside. The stink of the sewer assaulted his nose, causing him to scrunch his muzzle and shake his head, trying to rid his nasal passages of the odor.
He pressed on, cautiously, searching for anyone, in the dark sewer.

(This is my poor attempt to try and find you other guys.  :/ )

The warm darkness of unconsciousness, no thoughts, none of the pain or the roaring flames. Only a dark nothingness...

Then a click.

Bright white light pierced the darkness, squinting eyes painfully against the harsh brightness. Katka tried to raise a hand to block the light, only to pull against the cold steel of shackles around her wrists that held her paws down in her lap, the rattle of chains as someone pulled hard at some kind of restraint attached to the collar around her neck.

"Please... Refrain from struggling." A voice from behind the blinding light. Cold level tones, slowly the silhouette of a man slid into focus across the table as Katka blinked, squinting and breathing long heavy breaths. Everything hurt. Hot pain in every limb, she clenched and unclenched her fists as her eyes slowly adjusted to the light.

From the other side of the table a clatter of machinery, the sound of someone tearing out a sheet of paper. Then the voice again reading slowly "Worker 6322... Katka Yantislav?" The dark figure leaned forward and nodded towards Katka. From the other side a trench-coated soldier, presumably the one who held the chain leashed to her neck, forced her head back with the barrel of a rifle. Checking the tag on the collar around her neck he nodded. Across the table the figure sighed and finally came into view as he pushed the desk-lamp away to one side. Clean shaven, gaunt hollowed cheeks and clear grey eyes. He wore the uniform of an officer, pips and medals resplendent at his lapels, slowly he pulled out a pistol and laid it carefully on the steel tabletop between them.  "So... Miss Yantislav, we have a few questions for you."
