Title: Saddest movie's you ever whatched
Post by: Lisforlove on August 24, 2012, 10:23:16 AM
Top saddest movie you ever saw? i don't mean a few tears, i mean bawling your eyes out.
I get that most people don't get this way over movies, same with me, but there are exceptions.

For me its:
1) The wall > this movies makes me huddle up and cry, its so sad.
2) V for vendeta > the bit with the gay's getting beating up.
3) That's it, those two are the only movies that i cry at, but i remember
watching lilo and stitch when i was 6 made me cry.

Eight Below might of been the saddest movie I've ever seen.

...But there was an anime that made me even sadder but I can't for the life of me remember the name D:

Eight Below might of been the saddest movie I've ever seen.

Eight Below is by far the SADDEST movie I have EVER seen. I cried like I have never cried before. First time I ever cried at a movie. Just thinking about it makes me want to cry.

Others I have cried at:
Cast Away when Wilson floated away
Lilo and Stitch when Stitch left Lilo after reading the ugly duckling
Rise of Planet of the Apes when he had to leave Caesar at that animal place and a few other places in the movie.

That is all I can think of right now but I am sure there is a couple more.

The saddest movie I've seen was an anime called "5cm per second".

It was really sad, but it's made in a way I can't describe, because it was way too awesome!

AI: Artificial Intelligence
The ending of the movie seemed to drag on forever but this was one of the saddest movies I saw as a kid. Even now, I still tear up here and there whenever I see it's on. If you've never seen the movie, you should watch it. If you don't want to, here's the basic plot
In the not-so-far future the polar ice caps have melted and the resulting raise of the ocean waters has drowned all the coastal cities of the world. Withdrawn to the interior of the continents, the human race keeps advancing, reaching to the point of creating realistic robots (called mechas) to serve him. One of the mecha-producing companies builds David, an artificial kid which is the first to have real feelings, especially a never-ending love for his "mother", Monica. Monica is the woman who adopted him as a substitute for her real son, who remains in cryo-stasis, stricken by an incurable disease. David is living happily with Monica and her husband, but when their real son returns home after a cure is discovered, his life changes dramatically.

TLK when Mufasa died, Pokemon movie when pika was sads because of Ash's death (of sorts) and All Dogs Go to Heaven really affected me when I was younger.
But Titanic, may be. Dat E rooted B melody in the background music, I think that's what gets me, it has a beautiful sort of uplifting yet depressing tone to me, like remembering happy memories after/during a tragic event.

I think the movie "Mist" has the saddest, yet most hilarious, ending of all movies. I mean, the ending was just so dramatically sad that it became hilarious.

- Marley and Me
- Shawshank Redemption
- The Green Mile
- The Pursuit of Happiness
- Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

They all made me cry for about 20 minutes.

Its a good movie with some laughs but the character development of Marley gets you attached to him, then the ending rips your heart out and makes you want to hold your dog and cry forever.

They're all sad to me.

Even one of the recent ones (which wasn't an anim per se) that I watched (Oz the Great and Powerful) was filled with too many sunsets, while that might seem atmospheric and romantic in such quantities at this time of the year makes it gave a sense of fiery doom in the background in my mind. You know that "happily ever after... but wait? what's to do now you have everything you wished for?" effect. Mind due it's probably just my depression talking here.

I love TLK and FatH, though for its nostalgic qualities, but I end up a warbling ball of tears by the end each time.

Two Brothers was one of the saddest movies I watched

Its been a long time since I've watched it though, my reaction now would probably be the same as it was then.

I bawled at the screen for at least five minutes after the movie was over.

The modern one. Where he can't save her, but saves civilisation in the future, and sacrifices his old life that was in the past by destroying the time machine to save those in the future. Also Scar from The Lion King is the antagonist leader, which reminds me of when poor Mufasa died.

The saddest movie that ever exists, in my opinion, would have to be plague dogs (It's an adult themed cartoon about two dogs who are being cruelly experimented on and they break out)

The ending is literally dreadful, like, worse than anything you could imagine cause it also leaves you being unknown.

Plague Dogs. It's based off of a book of the same name by the writer of Watership Down, and as with WD, the film is utterly brilliant. The ending is a tear-jerker and so is the over all plot.

Another sad film would be Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, the film prequel to the Twin Peaks T.V show. The film is much more surreal, dark, depressing and horrifying.

There are also the films by my favourite Danish director, Lars Von Trier. His most depressing would have to be Dancer in the Dark, Antichrist, Melancholia or Breaking the Waves.

The two movies that made me cry without any extenuating circumstances (don't watch "Eternal Sunshine" right after a breakup) were "Requiem for a Dream," the first movie that ever made me cry, and "Dear Zachary," a documentary about a man killed by his girlfriend that was made for the man's son. Both films absolutely devastated me. I also have to single out "Tyrannosaur" for how bleak it is, although if bad things happening to dogs in a movie is a deal breaker for you, you won't make it through the opening credits.

A Boy Name Charlie Brown; The soundtrack after the spelling bee was unbearable.

This is gonna sound dumb, but several lifetime movies have inspired sadness in me; Cyberbully, Eye of the Stalker, The Preacher’s Mistress, The Texas Cheerleader Scandal… I expect most people would consider these bad movies, or at best, uninteresting. They are to me what Chick Flicks are supposed to be to teenage girls.

One movie I watched over and over for moral support is It’s Kind of a Funny Story with Zack Galifinakus, about a kid who checks into a psychiatric hospital after having suicidal thoughts from school-related stress.
