Title: my mother *growls*
Post by: on January 04, 2012, 11:14:27 PM
My mother is among one of the most infuriating people I have ever encountered on the face of the planet. First off, I know that she (at least some of the time) means well in her actions, but the way she does things simply does not equal good parenting.
She will steal my property if I'm "bad" (yes she still calls me "bad" like I'm a little kid). That includes my laptop which was paid for by me, my car which is legally under my name, and my money. When I protest this she says that I have no rights because I'm a minor (I'm seventeen, eighteen in under three months). She constantly manipulates me by withholding money, getting me fired from the job I desperately need, and by threatening not to send me to college. One of her favorite things to do is to bad-mouth me to my family and her friends behind my back about how I'm an ungrateful and rude child.
Today for instance, I got into a verbal altercation with a teacher about a very small thing, and my mom apparently checks up on me by calling my teachers and asking about my behavior, so I was greeted with an angry call from her in the middle of my fourth period class and I had to quickly excuse myself to deal with the problem.
Now she's taken my car keys again and I have a feeling my laptop will be gone soon too if I don't hide it. She's threatened to smash my laptop with a hammer before...yeah she's kind of a psycho >.>

My mom is very annoying, too. She isn't like anything you've said, but it's just she just seems so so stupid sometimes. She once told me to check to see if the laptop would boot up because my computer tower upstairs BSOD'd. I told her how in the heck would my computer having a blue screen of death affect the performance of the laptop downstairs? And she gets all snappy at me and I'm like "ohhhhhh my godddddddd......".

Another time, which I have ranted about here once before, is her not trusting PayPal just because my step-dad got hacked and fell for a phishing scam, and she doesn't want me to get it, and when I did, she attempts to crush my confidence saying I'll get hacked and lose all my money, but I went ahead and made an account just to prove her wrong. No problems thus far.

And other times when we argue or discuss something, she always snaps at me when I try to explain myself like she is always right and I'm not, and I don't know a lot just because I am only 19 and am "still a kid". She even once said "You don't know everything. I do". And if I try to get dom with her, she goes berzerk, so I always submit. This might be why I'm so submissive as a furry, too.

I could go on about more things, and even a lot of my friends, my ex-mate and pet being a few, are on my side and are thinking she's really being stupid as well.

it gets better. I locked my room and hid my laptop before leaving for work and I got a text from my brother that she broke into my room and literally tore the place apart looking for my laptop

Oh wow, I thought my mom went overboard sometimes... but after hearing this I don't have a right to complain x3
But I can relate to the whole losing your laptop thing, I lost mine a few times for horribly ridiculous reasons. Sometimes when she's in a bad mood I can't be on the computer past 11:00 or 12:00 despite the fact that I wasn't able to sleep in the first place without it plus I wasn't disturbing anyone while I was on it.

Parents just don't understand sometimes...

Well OP, my best advice to you is that if you still have your job, save every penny possible so that you can move out on your own ASAP. I've found through various friends that the best way to deal with crazy is put as much distance between you and it as possible.

I'm sorry I don't have more to offer, but neither of my parents have anything on your mother.

Well, three months and you're a legal adult. Hang in there, I guess.
