I suppose the meaning of the word has changed o.ONot really, our definition of Kitsune comes from some Japanese folklores about 9-tailed foxes. However, the word Kitsune is as said, is just the word for Fox in the Japanese language.

Actually I can write music very well, been writing for years & I even have a fan club for my poetry. I havent wrote a plain poem in a long time though, I write lyrical poetry (songs).
If anyone wants to learn how to write poetry I can teach a few different styles, I hate haikus but like everything else.

Good example: The Top Gear USA guys remade the test of old British cars that should be made again into a US version. The car that won was a Buick? Wagon from memory. The said that GM should make it again, and even supplied so concept art for it. It was basically a Holden Sportswagon that GM make here in Australia, complete with a Buick sourced V6 or LS6 V8!!! All you need to know is a fox means epic and epic means fox, they are both the same. You need to know that foxes are awesome, not awesome like a perfect kill in call of duty! But Awesome like winning a counter-strike national tournament in one hand, playing Requiem for a dream with the other, succeeding the cinnamon challenge with your mouth, juggling 25 flaming sticks, 3 chainsaws and 2 babies (without anything being damaged) with your tail and completing complex mathematical equations worth the Nobel prize with your feet. Doing all that at the same time why wearing a fursuit to raise money for a charity of sick kids.
That is how awesome a fox is. Don't you forget it XD

I have werewolf dreams sometimes. Being a fox, I think it's because I was afraid of the wolves..and I'm always running into my den. My nickname is "Den Mother" and I'm pretty sure I had little foxlings too ^_^ My dreams are very scary when they're about werewolves. I'm so afraid of them, but there are ones where I have so much respect for them, running through the forests at night. At least the nice ones. Sometimes I'll have dreams where I'm a monster, I'm turning into a werewolf and I have to get away from everyone. I think it might be a past-life memory, or just links. I love water too, so I'm pretty sure I was near water. I love ocean creatures, and when I'm not near water I miss it. Maybe I was a mermaid? I don't know.

My mate is a Simurgh (pronounced see-morg), an otherkin of Persian mythology. She also considers herself a therian. However, ironically enough, she isn't Persian at all. She's Salvadorian. She's part wolf, cat and bird.
I've always considered myself very foxlike..very sleek, calm, with strange eyes, weird sounds, pointy ears, long fur, smart, sneaky, sly, quiet, etc. But your fursona can be whatever you want, even the opposite of your personality.
I have a spiritual connection to foxes, but again, I'll need to ask permission before I share that story ^_^

My impression of this board and the reason I made this topic was both to meet others from your species and to socialize with each other.
Also as I believe all us foxes already know each other there isn't really any point of this thread until' more foxes join the forum in which I'd say conversations and discussions shouldn't be too hurtful.

See the difference?
At that point, it pretty much becomes spam. That's when a moderator is expecting to say something about it.

In a more serious tomne, yes i have hear of it. to draw it, the way i do, is just rotate the start of the eas dowm and give it HUGE ears and eyes. TO find a drawn one, either ask me for a custom one, or google search "Drawn fennec fox" and find a bunch of generic ones.

It's literally the Japanese word for the fox as a species! The whole thing regarding mythical creatures and all that is just a misconception due to foxes often being part of Japanese folklore as mythical creatures. This misconception is so common though that it's essentially come to refer to the mythical folklore-aspect of foxes in the folklore.
Either way, mythical or not you're still a fox to me!

@Timmy Fox: I know, when I took JP 1 in high school, we went off on a tangent and learned a bunch of wild animals. :3 "okami" and "Kitsune" made me uber happy.
But anywho, there are instances of fox-like oni in the folklore. but unlike Tengu for example, Kitsune are just Kitsune. They don't get a cool name! XD lol

And indeed, it just kinda annoys me when people mistake the meaning of 'kitsune', hehe.. Because whilst, in English, it does indeed refer to mythical foxes it's still not the actual definition of the word which is simply being the Japanese word for the fox :P

How does one know when they are a fox? Like seriously, I went through four different fursonas until I stopped at the deer fox. I figured it was so common but no one has ever heard of my hybrid before. :'( But that's okay, because it makes me unique! As well as being female and having antlers, as well as fangs, and hooves.

So earlier this week I got a fox tail; a REAL fox tail, and I love it so much!! It's an indigo fox tail and I may have kinda sort created a little side character to go with the tail… well yeah I did. I really did. I named the character Lily, and she has blond hair to contrast her dark gray/blue fur. Her eyes will most likely be green, and she's a real cutie!
But yeah.
