Title: Facade
Post by: Gen on July 28, 2011, 02:56:17 AM
"Four of the shards... They are confirmed to be following individuals... They may have explained how to access their knowledge..."

"How do you know this?"

"I can see all.. Shut up and retrieve them."

~

Gen slowly walked down the midnight street, sighing softly and watching his breathe as he walked. He shivered a bit. "I-I need to start wearing suitable clothing..." He said to himself, continuing his walk. He was roughly a block from his not-so-nice, but money efficient, apartment. He sighed and closed his sapphire eyes for a second; enough time for a stranger to grab him by the collar and toss him into an alley. He let out a squeak, said stranger pressing him against a wall roughly.
"Gimme your money, kid."
He gulped loudly and looked up, both his own arms pressed against his chest. He wasn't able to see the strangers face, due to the darkness of the alley. "I-I-I... Don't have any...." He softly said. "Please... Let me go... I'm rather late, sir...." He felt hands trace over his empty pockets, and then the stranger took a glance at his wrists for watches, before running off. Gen had been lucky. Most would've requested the shirt off his back, or would've physically hurt him. He shakily collected himself, dusting off the dirt from his clothing.
"It's not quite over yet.." A voice told him, making him look around in an unsure and nervous panic.

Dominic had been sitting next to his home on a rock, gazzing at the night sky, and breathing softly into the ocean air.. Its been two years since he had found the relic deep in the tomb, and since he had been hearing voices, swords clashing, screaming, and mostly an angry yelling voice saying "Demon Assassin!!! Get him!!!".. it always startled Dominic to a stand still, and always he was ready to run, He had no clue what it meant.

Dominic got up and went inside his home, lit a fire in the fireplace, and went to sleep next to it on the floor.

"...." Siyan's lip twitched a little in aggravation as he gazed at the parasite begging for a coin. A young drug craving human with dirt covering most of his hands tugged a little harder on Siyan's arm to make sure he was listing.
"Do it" a voice hissed, breaking a smile on Siyan's face.
"Ok" Siyan said as he reached around his back. The man smiled as his body began to shake a little in anxiety. While the human suspected that he was reaching for his wallet,  Siyan's thin fingers wrapped around the hilt of the dagger strapped to his back. "Remove your arm" Siyan hissed. Puzzled by the attitude the human paused for a second. Siyan growled as he pulled the blade out, ripping the shadow from under Siyan, Turing into a pitch black blade. The blade smoothly severed the fragile bones of the human, making him fall to the ground in pain. Siyan smiled, he wasn't done yet.

As Dominic was asleep, he found himself in a familiar place, South America, over the underground temple, hiding, and watching a military camp at the enterence, for what appeard to have the Nazi flag. It was dark, and it was poring rain.. Dominic, tried to control himself to turn back, but he had no control of himself. The Nazi's apeared to have some kind of machien pointing at the enterence. Dominic found himself taking out a pistol in his right hand, and a blade on top of his left arm. Staring at one man, who looked to be english.

Dominic Jumped off the small cliff and revealed himself to the, He started shooting, and stabbing his way throught quickly to the english man. An angry voice yelled, " Demon Assassin!!!! Get Him!! Kill him!!" , Guns started fireing, Dominic dropped his gun, and started shooting fire out of his fists at the soldiers.

Dominic woke up with shock, and realized he had set the carpet on fire with a small flame. He managed to put it out. "holy _ _ _ _!!"

A Nazi soldier stood on his knees, begging for mercy and his life. He spoke of his three children and wife at home, saying he only joined the military because the Germans forced him to. "We have no reason to keep a Nazi soldier alive." Sarah grabbed the Luger that fell on the ground and shot the villain right between the eyes. She said nothing further except "They'll catch up if we don't get out of here. Let's go."

Gelidus woke up with little emotion. She was holding the bear she found in Korea. Finally she spoke to the spirit "I know we agreed that you would tell me the story one bit at a time, but does it have to be while I'm sleeping?" Sarah responded "If you want to truly know what happened, I need to send the experience with a dream. Your mind is calm and doesn't fight me that way." Gelidus was a little frustrated when she spoke again "Fine. Just don't wake me up when the dream is over. I need sleep you know." Gelidus then started to drift to sleep once again, still holding the bear.

"Listen, child. Listen or you shall have no opportunity to defend yourself in the near future." Gen listened to the words that seemed to be injected to his head. The voice was soft, and very woman like. He nodded a bit and looked around. "To the left of the dumpster near you is an abandoned make up kit. Take its mirror. You're going to need it later." Gen approached the box, squirming a bit at the sight of a spider that had sat on its top. He blew it off and opened the kit, looking at the mirror. It showed his face, and another pale face behind him. He squeaked loudly and jumped back, looking around.
"Wh-where... Wh-who are you?!" He squealed out in fear, backing up.
"We've no time for this, just take the mirror. I apologize for being so close. It appears you lack the ability to see me without the mirrors.. But just take it. It's not properly glued on, so it'll come right off."
He gulped and went forward again, gently pulling on it. Like he had been told, it came off easily. He looked at it, seeing the pale entity farther behind him. He took attention to the detail this time. It was a woman, with blond hair. She looked around the age of forty. The mirror itself was just a square, no lacing or anything. He put it in his pocket, and looked around for the woman. No sight of her. She wasn't lying when she said he could only see her in a mirror.
"Go home. You shall be taken tonight, as will others. When you meet them, don't say a word, and don't pull out the mirror until I come to you."
Being taken sounded awful, but he had to accept his fate. He'd have to return home, and when he did he'd be taken anyway. He walked to a near pay phone. From his pocket he pulled out a wallet, and some change. He'd lied to the man earlier, of course. Nobody is completely honest. He pulled out a dollar and change, and called the only person who would be up at midnight. He was going to tell her, but had a last minute change of heart. When the answering machine picked up he laughed a bit. "Aww... Heather, I thought you'd be up at this time... I wanted to hang... Boo! You suck~ Tell Johnny I said hi, I guess... See ya later." He hung up and proceeded to go home.

~

Gelidus's window was open, whether she had left it that way or not, it had been opened, just slightly. Through the window, a vine crept slowly to the sleeping wolf/falcon hybrid. It was quiet as well as invisible to any souls that would be located in the room. The vine crept to her hand, slitting it with a thorn and quickly pumping a non lethal dose of Curare into her bloodstream. Had Gelidus gained consciousness, she is still paralyzed by the drug's effect. A heavily clothed, muscular, and masked man walked into the window, ripping apart a paper charm. The ripping caused the vine to vanish. He crept forward, and took the immobile female in his arms. He continued to exit the apartment building, walking into a van. "Got the first." They blindfolded her, and laid her still. They had her connected to oxygen support, due to the fact that her respiratory muscles could have stopped working. They continued on to the next apartment, the apartment of Dominic. The man crept to the window while others kept their eyes over Gelidus. He began a similar action as to what he did with Gelidus, however, he had to increase the vine's level of Curare, due to the fire ability. This vine moved quite quickly, taking its conscious victim by his neck. It injected the Curare to his bloodstream there. This was done within a second; Dominic had little time to react due to his muscles becoming non responsive. He was quickly taken to the van, and had been chained still. They didn't wish to take any chances with him. They had various information on each person's ability, information that had been fed by their leader. The next held onto a dark attribute, so they'd have to keep him in light. As they drove up, he was injuring a man. The other man sighed to himself. He repeated the previous action, though using a surgical light on Siyan. "I'd better be getting paid well for this..." They proceeded to Gen's apartment. All three of them were out of the paralysis by now, but were still hooked up to oxygen support. Gelidus had her arms bound behind her back, and was blindfolded, while the two men had been blindfolded and completely restrained. Precautions had been taken to make sure that they wouldn't be able to use they're abilities, as analyzed by their leader.

~

Gen changed his clothing to a clean set and ate a full meal, as well as drank a healthy amount of water. He sighed a bit, sitting at the table and reading a book. His windows were shut tight, but unlocked. He knew it was going to happen regardless, so he wanted it by his own terms. He was a bit depressed at having to be so cooperative, but he doubted he'd be able to resist anyway. He squeaked at a bump near his window. His captor had made a mistake in his slyness. He looked back in almost absolute terror at the man. "Y-Y-You've come to take me.... H-haven't you...?" He shivered in fear and kept his arms near his chest. The man began to work out his charm as quick as possible. Gen took his book in his arm and looked up at him like a child would a stranger. "Don't waste your energy... I'll go... Just don't mess up my apartment... I just cleaned it." The man, taken aback a bit, slowly opened the window and jumped in onto his kitchen floor. His boots left dirt on the white tile, and Gen sighed a bit.
"If I were you, I would've chained him by now..." The voice in his head had stated to him. He replied calmly in his voice.
"You said I was going to be taken... I can't do that, I'm much to weak... I'm just going to go easily..."
The man approached and roughly grabbed Gen's wrists, cuffing them together. "Watch the hair..." Gen whined a bit. The man directed him to the van. To their leader's knowledge, he hadn't activated his abilities. He was placed like Gelidus, blindfolded and cuffed. The Curare had worn off, so the the others in the vehicle could breathe fine, and if it hadn't been for their restrictions, they'd be able to move freely. Dominic and Siyan were bound to where they could only arch their backs. The man removed their oxygen support.
"Don't try anything funny... It wouldn't be hard to make a dose lethal."

Gen sat in the van while he was driven, holding still and keeping alone to his thoughts.

Gelidus knew the only reason she would be taken captive would be for her new-found ability. And after they put the oxygen mask on her she wasn't too worried about being killed, so she waited patiently to find out what her captors would do with her. She couldn't see, but she heard hustling and busting 3 more times after she had been secured. She could only assume they had more captors, and that they had abilities similar to hers. When she was no longer paralyzed she spoke out loud in a sarcastic voice to whomever might be in the van "So how is everyone tonight?"

Siyan threw his body around in anger.
  "Stop you fool!"
  "..."
''There is no escaping so you might as well just remain calm" Siyan took a deep breath. Relaxing his body, he sniffed the air.
"Sorry... I woke in shock" he said laughing casually. "Sir taker, would you ever be so kind and remove the bandages. Be but a gent and bless a savage beast with sight would you, I mean you no harm." Siyan talked slowly, some may say suave manner, his voice brought on a soothing and comforting feeling.

Dominic had still slept from the dart thing, His Dreams became like reality, one Assassination after the other, but still couldn't find what happened in the temple, The final dream was blank, and a voice spoke to him, "You have learned what your ancestory is full of, and so you have learned almost everything I have, they have, and since 13 hundreds, You are trapped, you will wake up now."

Dominic woke up chained, and heard the sound of the van, and breathing of others. Dominics chains on his fists and feet turned red, and then cooled gently down as he exhaled a breath.

The voice spoke again in Gen's head, and he kept his eyes shut behind the blindfold. "Repeat after me..."

"I doubt they would let us go without the proper bindings.. We have been taken for a reason, and they shall not let us go so easily. Whether it was to be executed, or to be imprisoned, I've no clue. I assume none of your accompanied souls had been able to sense the approaching danger, or had decided it was unnecessary to inform you." He repeated the voice in a cold and slightly feminine voice, "However, these men probably will not release our bindings through polite request.. Which is rather unfortunate, I've a phobia of the dark..." Gen repeated the words as well as possible, slightly shocked and confused by what he was saying as well.

~

"We are almost at the designated location. If one of you attempts to escape, you shall be paralyzed again and taken back. Please do not underestimate Kiharu." The man who had spoken before said, "You will be taken to a room that has been proofed to each one of your abilities, and you will not be able to escape. You may try, but you shall not be able to. There we will release you of your bindings." The back of the van had opened. The footsteps of at least twenty men were able to be heard. Gen made a grunt at the feel of someone trying to take him from his seat.

"I can get up on my own. Please take your hands off of me." He got up and was led out of the van, followed by Gelidus. Siyan and Dominic were last, having ten men around then to make sure they didn't try to pull an escape attempt. The reason why they had had so much security was because their abilities were labeled more dangerous than Gelidus and Gens' abilities, due to the fact they didn't need as much as the other two needed to use them. After the rough escort, each one of the four had their restrictions removed. The door was slammed shut. Gen removed his blindfold to look around a very dark and dank room. Its walls were made of steel and bolts, and there was nothing on the floor. The room smelled of rust and humidity. Gen sighed and crawled to the back of the room. He looked at the others a bit shyly, and half fearfully. "I don't like this..."

Dominic stood leaning on the metal wall. Dominic looked around, and saw that the line of bolts placed to hold the metal together, "Obviously these people are poor" He flatened his hands around the first bolt, and began to warm the metal within under his palms, when he released the spot was red. Dominic then started punching the wall making shure not to hit the bolt. the wall dented till he could pull the bolt out. When he heard foot steps coming, he put the bolt in his mouth and sat down.

"Bloody hell what do these idiots think they are doing to me, I will rip there throats out and-" Siayn sat down screaming inside his own mind while maintaining a soft composure on the outside. He took a deep breath reaching around, grabbing the hilt of the dagger. Pulling it out, he gazed at it, it was a dull yet well kept blade.
"So much light" the voice hissed.
"Maybe I should ask them to put it on dim" he smiled at his own comment. He began to hum him self a lullaby from his youth.

Gen watched Dominic a bit curiously. "I doubt you're going to escape like that... There can be more material behind it... They don't seem too poor.. This isn't supposed to comfortable, we're not in a hotel." He pulled out his small square mirror and tilted it around a bit. He saw each of the others' soul companions but took a bit to find his own. "I think you owe me an explanation, madame.. Or at least a hint..."[\color] Loud footsteps approached the big metal door. He sat still in the back of the dark room

Gelidus leaned against the wall and watched as Dominic made his silly attempt at escape "Well this is fun. Who here thought they were gonna get kidnapped tonight, raise your hand." She raised her hand at her own ridiculous sarcasm "Alright so what are you guys here for? I'm assuming you can do stuff like what the horse is doing and this" She pulled out a water bottle and froze its contents. Doing nothing else except hovering it in the air while still leaning on the wall "So my question is how did they know about our nifty little abilities and why are they caging us?"

Dominic looked at Gelidus, and opened his mout to take out the bolt he had been sucking on for awhile. The bolt was red, and the tip got sharper. "I think that is has something to do with our ancestors, back in ww1 or 2, aparently mine can speak, and show me through his eyes what ever he did in the past." Dominic put the bolt back into his mouth, and spoke like a huge cigar was in there, Phhahaha! bunch of bull s_ _ _!.. The names Shepard, Dominic Shepard!," where you from?" Dominic looked back and started on his fith bolt to recover.

The footsteps walked past the room; seeming to be going down a hall. Gen looked to Gelidus and watched the display. "I've been hearing a woman's voice, but that's it... I can also see people in this mirror that aren't there... But I can't do anything.. Yet, anyway.. In the van, when I had spoken about souls... I was repeating her voice as she instructed of me." He put his head down in embarrassment. "I think I can do something though.. I just got to give it time, and maybe I'll be able to... Why else would the four of us been dragged here? All three of you can do something... I think... I just haven't come together yet.." His eyes kept on the square mirror, watching his soul companion make joking gestures. He sighed and put it face down; this woman's ghost-like appearance was beginning to scare him.

"DON'T YOU IGNORE ME!" The female voice yelled into Gens head.

"I'm sorry!" Gen squeaked softly and held the mirror. "You're just scaring me a bit.."

"Stupid boy... Anyway, it seems you've competition now... I might actually have to teach you something after all..." The voice said exclusively into Gen's mind. "The others seem to have little interaction with the souls. Its funny, I've been following you around for quite a while. The soul continued to tell Gen how to access a small part of his ability. "I'm going to leave you for a while, now. Try to learn something from the other people."

Gen gulped and nodded quietly, looking back to the others in the room and listening to their conversation.

Sarah finally spoke to Gelidus about the situation "Having fun? You're stuck in a small room with an idiot who doesn't know how to use his abilities, another idiot who thinks he can escape, and what we can only assume to be the final idiot. Have fun with that" Gelidus spoke in her head to Sarah "Very funny Sarah. Go die in a hole. oh no wait a minute, you already did. So what do you think I should do?" "Beats me. Maybe just sing Kumbaya and hope everything will be ok. Gelidus roled her eyes at the comment and finally responded to Dominic "I'm Gelidus, and I'm from Japan and here as well. Grew up in both places. You?"

Dominic looked back at Gelidus,"Me!i was born here, raised in south america, I was a servant for 3 years for a mean old hag human archiologist. always was out there digging for gold and all that religous artifacts." Dominic looked back and put another sharp bolt into the wall, and sucked on another.

Gen got up and walked over to Gelidus and looked to the stallion. "Forgive me if I'm interrupting.. I just thought you two should at least know my name.. In case the need comes up." He said softly and looked to Gelidus, trying to maintain eye contact with both of them. "My name is Gen. I grew up in a suburb outside of Oakland, which is a bit to the east of San Fransisco.."

He looked back to Siyan, slowly approaching him. He gulped a bit. He has weaponry on him already... Just hope he's remotely nice... He thought to himself.

"H-hello, sir.. Are you alright...? You haven't spoken a word and have barely moved...."

Siyan eyed gen as he approached. His hesitant speaking implied he was nervous and/or scared, Siyan smiled. Once Gen came close enough Siyan swiped the blade across his check, leaving no cut.
"See, nothing to be afraid of, the blade isn't at all sharp."
"What the hell does he want"
"Sorry for that, I thought demonstration would be far more reassuring then me just saying it. Anyways, I am just dandy, well as dandy as a captive can get I suppose" he chuckled a little.
   "I don't like this kid"
"I am just waiting for something interesting to happen, I mean other then the ability to dent melt and some how not dent the bolt within the melt, that's loads fun."

Gen held still as the cold metal ran against his pale flesh. He had closed his eyes, expecting it to break his skin. When it didn't happen, he let out a nervous laugh. "Y-yeah... Good, Siyan."  He moved to sit against the wall, being careful not to sit on his hair. He looked to the door, listening to the sounds of footsteps and wondering how long they'd be kept in the confinement, or how they knew of everyone's soul companions. "Hopefully... They aren't trying to drive us insane in here. They want something, probably the abilities..." He began to work it out in his head a bit to why they were there, running his fingers through a dirty part of his well taken care of hair, trying to recall details. He had remembered a small paper was being prepared. "Does anyone remember the details how they were captured? I can't go off my own, I told the man to save his breath and just let me walk in the vehicle by myself... Kinda a quitter method, I know... But I didn't feel like making extra trouble, either way I'd get caught..."

Siyan didn't react to the comment, he stood up and leaned against the wall.
"That's quite an accusation and is rather demeaning, I don't appercate it." Siyan turned his face to the horse, "There is always something waiting in the dark" as siyan said that a tentacle shot down from the ceiling grabbing hold of the horses neck. Pulling it toward the ceiling before it can react. With a loud thud the horse slammed into the metal barrier as the tentacle disappeared.
"I wonder if they have tea"
"I desire tea" Siyan said nonchalantly.

"That's rather rude... Speak for yourself." He replied to the horse and watched the display of ability that Siyan performed. He took out the mirror and looked at it again, trying to remember what he had been told by the soul. He gazed into it and watched a few small orbs float from the mirror. They were no bigger than a dime, and floated up a bit. Gen watched them glow bluish white in slight muse, before they vanished. In replacement, a thin and golden barrier appeared around the human. It faded away after a second, leaving Gen too look around. "Where'd the pretty stuff go..?" he inquired himself, looking back to the mirror curiously. Hearing Siyan speak out he looked up. "I'm not sure if they'll give us tea... I would give you some if I had it, but I don't... I apologize."

Gelidus looked around the room one more time. There was nothing there. Just an empty room with four people. She spoke out while the others were having their conversation. "As fun as talking is, if our captors aren't coming in anytime soon I think I'm gonna try and nap. I'll be in this corner if anyone needs me" She said sarcastically as she knelt down to the floor. She sat up and leaned her body against the floor. The drug induced on her made her rather tired, and being woken up in the middle of the night didn't help either. She closed her eyes and hoped for sleep.

Want that? mabye its best you watch who you pick your fights with, look towards the guys who are about to Disect us like frogs." Dominic was steeming and red. He stared at all three. "Now, its better to focus on getting out of here before whatever happens. its an obvious thing that these guys arnt that smart, so this should be more simple then you think."

"If you don't move I will strike you down." Siyan's voice was the same as before but his eyes spoke differently to the ignorant horse. "Your parlor tricks don't scare me. You can heat up a room full of metal, congratulations. By the time you create enough heat to cause discomfort I would have your heart ripped from your cavity,  your head would lay flat in the dirt, and your bones would pear out your body." Siyan put the tip of the dagger on the horses neck, "Don't let ignorance full you for weakness. Even in the light there is darkness, in that I will be your demise. Blind me but you will also be blind your self." Siyan whispered that to the horse, s grin was growing on his face.

Gelidus opened her eyes and looked at the horse in a dull fashion as she layed on the ground Wow. Mr. Grumpypants. You insulted the guy first. Don't get all pissed when he retaliates." Gelidus grabbed the water bottle, which now consisted of ice water, and poured it on her face to try and cool down "And if you could stop heating this place up. It was hot enough to begin with." Dominic had finnished the bolts, and had placed them all back where he can remember, he looked at every1 with a small glare. then sat down. "Its best you call it humor towards anger. He took it as an insult, hes been away from the world for too long to understand, its best to drop it, id rather talk about something else." he said in a soft voice. Dominic leaned on the wall to close his eyes.

Siyan walked over to the only women in the room, he glanced at her, then proceeded to sit next to her. "Hello my lady. Don't waste your breath on him, its beneath you. Ignorance is bliss we must let him be. In a battle of wits how can you battle an unarmed person?" He laughed slightly.
   "Ask about tea!"

"Why do people always want to get close to you?" "I don't know. It's so annoying. At least he's not touching." She said to herself before finally speaking. "Is there something on this side of the room I can help you with? Cause your in my bubble and I guarantee that corner is just as comfortable." She pointed to the corner that had no occupants.

Gen had kept mostly to himself in his spot while everyone had their own conflicts. After a few minutes, the door was opened, the room flooding in with light. Gen gulped and looked up in slight fear. Several men walked in and began to attempt to lead each out of the room. When a man tried to pick up Gen by his sides, Gen kicked him in the shin as hard as possible. "I've told you once before! Keep your dirty hands off of me!" The man grunted and looked down angrily at Gen, striking him across the face. He let out a whine, retaliating with a hard bite onto the opposite hand and another hard kick to the shin. With the man clenching his bleeding hand and leaning against the wall, Gen got up. "Let be noted you can simply ask instead of trying to grab me, and that if I can hurt one of your men so easily, without using any ability what-so-ever, he shouldn't be handling me." He said it in a slight brat-like tone, the bright light making the hand's mark on his face. He began to walk out of the room, slapping away the hands that tried to restrain him and spiting occasionally, in disgust at having blood in his mouth. The others were taken in suit, all four tossed into another room, the lights very bright and the floor solid white. The only thing whiter than the walls, floors, and the one piece of furniture was Gen's attire and hair. His skin was paler than normal, due to a fear over coming him. He stayed on the floor where he was tossed and looked up to the only new face in the room.

"Welcome to my world, Siyan, Horse, Gelidus, and how could I forget, the little trouble maker, Gen.." A hyena said out and looked down at the four with venomous green eyes. Gen was quick to crawl back behind Horse and Siyan. The hyena was tall and well dressed, blue suit and trousers. He was brown with light tan spots; not to mention of a towering height with sharp teeth. "It seems your soul are  with you. Oh wait... Three... Out of four.. Seems yours has abandoned you, child... This just makes it difficult... Now I'm going to have to extract the knowledge from you! You should feel special~" His voice was twisted and warped, filled with a foul accent and laced with a malevolent tone.  He placed down a few pieces of paper; matching the charms that had been used to capture them. Vines spurted from each, winding around each of the hyena's captives. They were forced to stand up; thorns pressing to each of their necks and threatening to inject their poison. Gen gasped a bit and uncomfortably looked up; trembling lightly.

"I... I don't know anything... About a soul.."

"Lying again? That won't help you..." The hyena walked behind each of them comfortably, each of their bodies bound in vine. He leaned in to whisper to Gen softly, "Give me your money.." Gen gasped a bit and squeaked softly; feeling the thorn brush against his neck gently. The hyena grinned and proceeded to the next captive, Siyan. "The only person here who has killed as much as I have is you... Spare a coin, please, mister?" He proceeded to Horse, "Demon assassin! Get him! Kill him!" And finally, he walked to Gelidus. "The only female here.. But definitely not the most feminine. 'You're stuck in a small room with an idiot who doesn't know how to use his abilities, another idiot who thinks he can escape, and what we can only assume to be the final idiot.'" He walked in front of the four. "I can see all.. And whether you wish to or not, you or your spirits are going to tell me how to use your abilities myself." Whispers began to pour into each of their heads, while the hyena sat and watched, exhaling a heavy breath and taking a sip from his glass of water.

"Miser I am no idiot-" Siyan laughed a little. "Ill make you regret everything you are or should I saw were." Siyan pulled the dagger out ripping his shadow from under him cutting the vine the held him captive. Siyan grabbed Gen pulling him away from the vine striking it down and backing up a little bit. With Gen behind him the bat kept a grip on his arm holding a defense position. "They say it's the quite ones are the ones you need to watch for, I'm watching now get me the hell put of here" Siyan hissed.

As soon as Siyan pulled out the dagger out, Gelidus froze the water that the hyena was drinking. She ripped out the hyenas front teeth on her way to quickly chopping the vine in front of her in half. She formed the ice into a dagger floating in the air and waited for a cue from Gen before doing anything further.

"Thank you, Mr. Siyan." He said quietly; looking to the glass that contained ice; watching the light reflect on it. He exhaled quietly and looked to the hyena; now writhing in pain on the inside, yet putting out his paw to make the vines retaliate.Gen squeaked softly and in a flash of gold, a huge stone-like chunk of light came from the glass and ice's reflections. From the stone emerged shackles and chains, flying through the air, they closed around his arms and legs, before pulling him against the stone. Gen began to sweat, panting a bit and sitting on the floor as he kept the hyena pressed tight to the stone. The hyena kept still and silent. His vine ability relied on him being able to move his body; so he was unable to do anything. Sitting on the floor and keeping his eyes shut to concentrate on holding the hyena. "Don't kill him... Get as much information from him as you can." Gen spoke softly, keeping still. He had to keep his full concentration on the hyena or his ability would fail.

Gelidus put the ice dagger in her hand and walked over to the hyena "Oh I'm going to have fun with this. She stared him straight in the eye as he was bound, unable to protect himself "You threatened me and took me while I was sleeping, I'm not going to have any mercy on you." Gelidus grabbed his right ear with her left hand and sliced it clean off with the dagger. The hyena screamed in pain "You better start talking before I take you apart piece by piece!" Gelidus moved the dagger down to his hand, threatening to remove his finger.

"N....Not me... J-just a puppet." The hyena attempted to say; blood flowing from his muzzle where his teeth had been. "Sh...shupid kid...." A vine crept behind Gen; tying his hands behind his back. He let out a squeak; his concentration broken. The bindings holding the hyena vanished with a flash, however, the hyena himself had vanished as well. His suit and charms were still in the room, as well as the one seat hyena had sat on and it's table next to it. The ice had empty spots where the teeth had been, and there was no blood left behind. Gen squirmed in the vine, and the ear had vanished.

"Sorry, guys...." He put his head down and grunted a bit weakly. "I wasted my energy and your time... Check the suit..."

"We don't need guns.. We're not in a place where they're needed. And... I can walk fine... Thanks for your help though... I won't be able to pull something of that immensity for a while..." Gen said softly, his side was hurting bad, but he didn't wish to become dead weight. He still couldn't believe that his theory had worked, and he was able to use it. Gen grabbed one of the charms which had been used to capture and wound them and looked over it carefully. He placed it down after he almost fully memorized the patterns, and looked to everyone else. "We don't have much time... We must leave now."

"You two are glass cannons... Offensive defense won't get you very far... We should just run for it..." Gen said gently, looking out the door to both sides of the hallway. He dug into his pocket and pulled out out a blue ribbon; ying his hair into a pony tail and bringing it to his front, as a procaution so he couldn't get yanked from the back or it caught in anything.

"Such a vain child.." The voice whispered into his head. He didn't even take out the mirror to see the spirit. "Take the left. And don't get caught, each time you do you put the other souls and I in trouble."

You've much explaining to do later, miss.." He said softly before turning to everyone else. "Follow me and please hurry.." He walked out the door and took the left at a fast pace, still a bit pale. This wasn't in his character, to escape. He was supposed to be good and listen... But things don't always work that way.

Gen continued the walk with the other three in pursuit, his soul companion whispering details into his head. "Beyond the next the turn we have some friends waiting... Don't bother with offensive skills, there are too many to fight off. They know we are coming, so we must focus on getting out at the near exit." His voice was cold and monotone, his eyes pale and business like. "If you can distract them, please do, miss. But do not get yourself hurt, if souls can be hurt." He turned around to look at the others, stopping at a corner. His figure seemed different; he was more masculine that normal. His pale face wasn't marked with emotion. "If we get out I'm taking you all to my apartment. It's most likely morning so everybody should be out. I know we are in the city somewhere, and we didn't go far from where I was taken. There is no possible way to hide from these men, if you didn't notice, their puppets can see our companions. This must also mean they can track, because I've never seen any of the men before last night." He continued around the corner, watching the men clapping their ears shut and sweating. He held out the small mirror, rushing through and glancing to the men. They were each around a certain spot, on their knees and screaming. In the center was a glowing figure; a woman with her hands together and in a singing position for a choir. "Don't get close, my companion is using an immense amount of her and my energy to do this.. It won't be pleasant if you get snagged in." Conviently the door at the end of the hall was an exit. The exit led to an alley and as soon as the last person was out Gen fell against a wall after glowing for a second. He leaned his head down and drooled a bit, his saliva laced with blood. His legs shook and he groaned out, about to vomit. He tried to hold it in; but he couldn't. He pulled his hair out of his face and leaned over a gutter just in time; vomitting a mix of blood and stomach acids. He did it again; spilling his blood onto the ground but not on his clothes. The door opened and men flooded out, weakly he attempted to run into the daylit street which was filled with strangers. "Almost.. Hurry..." He said out in the form of labored gasps. He had withdrawn more energy than he had; causing his blood pressure to go through the roof.

"Damn you" Siyan said, pulling Gen near him. Siyan pulled Gen's neck back and bite it, making blood begin to spew out. "That will help you stay alive a little longer. It also will help me." Siyan put his arm up, his palm faceing the pouring me. "Scream my pets" he whispered as a large group of bats flew out from under him towards the group. Siyan took Gens hand, "Now is our chance,  run you fools, its only to stall!". Siyan began to run pulling Gen.

Gelidus grabbed Gen and help Siyan pull him. She ran with all her might to make it to the end of the hallway. She couldn't see much through the cloud of bats whipping away in the air. Though somehow she manged to spot the exit door, and she used the ice she had from early to open it. The light from out side started to flow through as the group hurried desperately to escape.

Gen let out a loud squeal as he was bitten, squirming desperately. His legs were moving almost automatically, his breath coming in quick gasps as he couldn't help but swallow down drool filled with blood, looking around once they got out of the alley. [codor=blue]"Down the hill... Make a left after.."[/color] He gave up words; too disoriented to speak. He directed them, stopping reluctantly when they reached his home. The men hadn't bothered to take pursuit; Gen running down the street and bleeding was enough to arouse suspicion. He led them into the two room apartment silently, his already bad vision blurring; he missed the door knob when he tried to open the door. His home was very clean, stainless white walls and, in the kitchenette, tiling, except for bootprints of dirt. The carpet was beige and his couch and loveseat were beige and red plaid. There was a small coffee table and television set, as well as a hall which led to three rooms. Gen broke the hold of thw two rushed to the hall, opening the bathroom door and going to the toilet to finish his vomitting, panting softly. He stuck his head out from the door, softly speaking. "M-make yourselves comfortable... I... I'm gonna clean myself..."

His skin was paler than normal due to the lost blood. He was exhausted in all meanings of the word. He walked out and looked to the three.

"I dunno about you but I gotta explain why I wasn't at work last night, why I am late for my classes, and why I probably won't be going to my other job. However, we can't go solo through this. Gelidus didn't think to check the things she grabbed that were left by the hyena. She through them on Gen's couch and sat down on said couch. She was frustrated with the situation, and didn't like the few options given to her. "So let me get this straight. We can either stay together, and loose our life outside of watching for the enemy and keeping ourselves safe. We do this while worried every minute their going to come after us. OR we can live our lives and eventually get taken again and do this whole thing over again, but probly less successful next time. That's just great."

But it does make sense if you think about it. There's two more options... We can send messages to each other through any method of communication every hour or so, or before they go to sleep and when they wake up.... When we don't receive a message from someone, we'd know they were gone.. The last, and impossible one would to be to never sleep again. But these people won't take you when people are around, so it's best to stay in well populated areas... Or we could try the police, but I doubt they'd be able to help.. They'd think we're crazy..." Gen rubbed his eyes gently, walking to his kitchenette and staring at the boot print. He growled a bit and got out a cloth from a drawer, soaking it in water and beginning to angrily scrub at it. "I had this floor perfect..." He ranted to himself in frustration.

I don't see how going anywhere but here is going to make it safer. If they knew we had abilities before we told anyone, I'm pretty sure they can find us wherever we go. In case none of you have notice, they can use  abilities through drawings." The tired human walked to the suit that had been taken and rummaged through its pockets, pulling out many slips of paper with symbols drawn on each. He opened it and rummaged through it, looking for more papers. He sighed and looked at the pants, turning them inside out to reveal another stitched into its fabric. He sighed and walked to his tv set, taking a digital camera from its top and photographing the papers one by one. After he finished, he held up the small stack and the pants. It wasn't like she had anywhere else to go...all alone in the large city of San Francisco, the best an orphan could hope for was sticking to well-lit areas of town and a clean sink to drink from. She was on her way to the park she had slept in the night before. It wasn't much, but the climbing set provided a dark enough spot to be safe from prying eyes. To her right loomed an apartment building, and on its front steps was where the child finally succumbed to her weariness and plopped down. She sighed, then yawned. She leaned back against the steps above her and closed her eyes, almost falling asleep...

The bracelet on her wrist, embedded with many silver-white diamonds, managed to gleam even in something as meager as the orangeish light of the street lamps.

Drizzt wandered through the streets, ignoring the pain eminating from the deep cut on his left shoulder, trying to grasp all that had happened. He had seen his father killed in front of him, and had barely escaped. He stared at the pair of gloves that now adorned his hands.. the objects that his father made him swear to protect.
(And protected they shall be,) he thought, absentmindedly rubbing his injured shoulder.
It was then that he noticed a young deer girl sitting on the steps of a nearby appartment building.
Drizzt walked over and sat down next to the deer, noticing now that she had a bad leg. He stared up at the sky, the gears of his mind spinning rapidly.
"What do I do next, Father?" he muttered, looking at the stars as if expecting an answer. The stars gave no reply to his query.
He sighed and glanced at the child at his right. It was then that he realized that his presence had not gone unnoticed...
For the young deer was staring right back at him.

Listy didn't mean to stare at Drizzt, it just sort of happened to be the way she was looking. But she felt his prescence nearby and heard him. "Hello?" she inquired, ears back, "Who are you?"

Drizzt watched the young deer's hands carefully, deciphering them in his mind. He thought of a proper way to respond. He didn't know this girl, so he thought it best not to reveal to much about himself until he was sure that he could trust her.
"As far as I know, I'm a cat," he signaled back, watching his hands closely to be sure that he didn't mess up.

The girl chuckled. "I can see that," she signaled. The diamond bracelet on her wrist gleamed as she motioned and she suddenly felt embarassed, knowing you never see something worth so much money on a small child's arm. She put her arms down now and just smiled at him before looking away, afraid of drawing negative attention. Not to mention that for all she knew he could be one of her former kidnapper's goons.

Looking away, she thought she saw a gleam of golden reflection on the front windows, but she discounted it and looked down at her feet.

Drizzt thought he felt a miniscule vibration in the gloves around the same time that the girl's bracelet reflected the light. (Eh, it's probably my imagination acting up again,) he thought.
"I'f you're asking for my name, it doesn't translate that well in sign language," he signaled back. "The closest one I know of is Daniel."

(Katie, how can Listy chuckle if she's mute?)
Title: Re: Facade

(Mute people are capable of laughing, but it is not the same kind of chuckle you'd hear from a normal person, it's hoarser, a quiet sound that comes from the throat, not the voicebox.)

"That's fine," she signaled, turning back breifly. "I can't say my name either." Her tiny tail wagged, this was the first person she'd really talked to in awhile.

"Wake up, idiot. Don't fall asleep with another in your living space." Gen's ears were assaulted by the words that only he could here. "Check the front of the building, there are more.

Gen groaned a bit. His nap had been only a few minutes in length. The tired human got up tiredly, coughing softly and turning to horse. "I'll be back.. Don't go into my bedroom.." His pale face had gone pink, as it normally does when he wakes. It began to turn back into the fine peach-white color. He slowly walked outside, looking at himself before. His ghost like appearance was the same as ever. He slowly walked to the front, hearing a discussion. Casually leaning onto the wall of the staircase, he looked down quiet and with a smirk as he eavesdropped on the mute child and her companion. "Where ever you're going, make sure it isn't outside." He laughed a bit to one, unable to know what the child was saying due to the fact he didn't know sign language. However, he could see she was leaving. "The gangs and solo criminals show no mercy in this city, it'd be pitiful for an accident to happen~ The homeless aren't so nice either.... But then again they do recieve bitter treatment."/color]

"Oh crud," Drizzt muttered under his breath.
"We have to get inside," he signaled to the young deer. "That person over there is a murderer. Trust me."
"Can we please come inside?" he asked Gelidus, nervously glancing in the direction of the distant figure.

After some time...

Gen had finished the meal and got out plates, having to stand on his tip toes to do so. "Stupid 1960's folk... Not everyone is 6'1"..." He mumbled to himself, pulling down his plates. He placed them on a counter and put a large spoonful of rice onto a plate with the tomato and chicken sauce next to it. He went to the silverwear drawer and took out a fork, walking over to the small deer. "Be careful, it's hot. The sauce is supposed to go ontop of the rice, however I'm not sure if you'd like it like that..." He handed her the plate and fork with a smile before going to the bathroom door, knocking on it. "Foods done!" He went to the window and repeated the message to Horse, rubbing his head softly.

Something doesn't seem right....

Drizzt glanced out the window at Dominic, who was busy tending the flames.
Oh, he thought. That was what he meant.
He gently rubbed his shoulder, still sore from the injury. Since there wasn't any gauze, he had improvised with a strip of cloth that he had found in his pocket. Satisfied with his work, he slipped the gloves back on, and was about to leave the bathroom when the glass-like circles in the palm of each glove started glowing. Drizzt stared at the light coming from the objects that his father had told him to protect.
What the heck? he thought.
He hid his hands behind his back and went into the kitchen.

"You won't. I'm no thief," Drizzt said, scooping some rice onto the plate he had retrieved. "And don't worry, I stayed out of your room."
He went over and sat down in a chair near the couch.
"Hey, just out of curiousity, have you ever seen articles of clothing project beams of light for no particular reason?" he asked nonchalantly, moving the rice around on the plate.

"Well, bioluminescence, the only thing I can think of, is quite possible. However, this would be if it was a fungus or a lichen for plants, or a mass of bacteria on it. In this hypothetical situation you speak of, would there be a chance of a plant on it? If all you see is light, it would probably be bacteria. That is, if scientific laws are still in place. Everything seems to be changing rather quickly lately, so I cannot be too sure. Other than that, it can always have had glow in the dark fluid poured on it."

"Well, actually, still hypothetically speaking," Drizzt said, thinking back, "there would be no plants on them, and if it was, it wasn't that, because plants don't really shine at flashlight intensity, no matter how... Never mind, this is getting too confusing. It might be better if I showed you."
Drizzt took the still glowing gloves out of his pocket and held them up for the house's owner to view.
"So what do you make of this?" he asked.

In the details referring to your relic, I used to have one myself. However, Irene's soul has left the relic and come to follow me, from what I know. Anyway, don't fall asleep tonight. He looked back at Gen.
"As I have already stated, I made a promise to protect these gloves," the feline said. "And now, thanks to you, I know why they need protection, and although I don't know much about my young friend's past, I can tell that she is of pure heart, and must also be protected. Drizzt stood up, found a blanket, walked over to the couch, and gently placed it over the young deer, leaving her head uncovered so that she could breathe. He then sat back down and scanned the room, looking for anything out of place. He absentmindedly fingered the curved dagger hidden in his boot, thinking about the day's events.
It's strange how much a life can change in one day, he thought, looking at the no-longer-glowing gloves. He glanced over at the young deer curled up on the couch and smiled.
It's a good thing that there's always something or someone worth fighting for.
