Title: Ask Me Anything.
Post by: Nrein on April 25, 2011, 01:40:17 AM
So, lately I've been told that I have great points of view on things, and am supposedly a good theorist.
Well, I don't honestly see where and how they got this, so I wanted to test it. So, ask me just about anything, and I'll answer to my best ability!
Just nothing on religion, politics, or other things that could really cause drama.

Why is it that people have a favourite lucky die they use during tabletop gaming? Does it work?

To be honest, I don't think it's really something that "works."
It's more of a psychological thing. If you really think it's "lucky", then you're going to go into the rolling with a lot more enthusiasm. And then, by chance, it actually lands on what you're looking for.
However, if it really is truly their "lucky, never failing" die, the answer is obvious. It's a weighted die.

What is the best path to redemption for a past evil, and why:

By taking some action to redeem oneself for that past evil

or

Meditating on that evil, focusing on it as a kind of punishment on oneself (a mental equivalent of pre-Renaissance flagellants).

Also, how does one know he has truly achieved redemption?

Actually, unless you buy hand made dice, they're not even and one side is wider than the other so all normal dice have a few sides they land on more often. :3

But thanks for the answer, I was curious what you would say. I'd probably agree if I wasn't such a big tabletop nerd.

Here's a better question; why would one feel the need for redemption?
If you've done something, there would've had to be a reason. Regardless of if you killed a man, or just stolen something.
Now, if you bring religion into it, then yes, you're inclined to do it, and thus, meditating on it would be the way to go.
However, if it's just your average Joe kind of guy, they probably wouldn't do either.
If I was in that situation, I would meditate on it. Think hard about it. But not as a punishment, because I don't regret anything I've done. Rather, I would more so see why I had to do the evil, and find out if, for future reference, I could do good and yield the same results.

And I myself have no idea on the matter Dx

To be honest, the average consumer car will look like the super expensive cars nowadays, and then those super expensive cars will go "out of style."
If you catch my drift.

What would you consider to be the best meat ball ever and how would you make it happen?

This is easy. My moms meat balls are the best ever, and I would make it happen by begging and bribery.

How do we know there isn't really someone named Seymour Butz on this planet? I mean Seymour is a real first name and Butz is a real last name so wouldn't it be possible?

It's a timeless classic, of course!

Actually, my old Science teacher used to have that name. But then he changed it to Steve Butz.
