Title: Regrets of traveling alone

All right, for this one start your first post with a short description.

Name:
Fursona:
Coloring:
Clothing:
Markings:
What you're traveling with:

For me, that would be:

Name: Jared
Fursona: Wolf
Coloring: White
Clothing: T-shirt, shorts
Markings: Left hand is all black from above the wrist down, several black lines trace up from the point with solid color towards bicep
What you're traveling with: Backpack has kindling, matches, food of various kinds, compass, pocket knife, canteen, and other such supplies. (Not enough room for a sleeping bag unfortunately.)

Well, let me get this thing started.

The rain had been falling on the white wolf for over an hour and a glance at the sky showed that it wasn't going to be letting up. Lightning split the sky and thunder soon followed. Shelter was the only thing on his mind and he searched all over for it. He knew he couldn't check his map in this downpour or it'd be ruined. His fur was thoroughly soaked and he cursed himself under his breath for not packing anything to keep the rain off. A cave's black entrance loomed off the side of the path about 30 yards away from his spot on the road. He ran as fast as he could towards the entrance of it. Despite it being dark, he could see that the cave wasn't expansive but was the size of a large room. He took off his shirt and wrung it out and shook off his fur. After he had wrung out his pants as well, he dressed again and attempted to find wood for a fire to dry himself off with. It was when he was finding his 4th decently sized piece that he heard something out in the rain...

Name: Kaz
Fursona: White Tiger
Coloring: White with black stripes.
Clothing: A knee length tattered black dress, obviously ripped on purpose. A thick black leather collar with steel rings all the way around.
Markings: On her back was a set of black markings, they almost seemed like twisted mini wings set into her fur.
What you're traveling with: A glowing piece of black stone which emanated a soft pearl color, other than that. Nothing.

The black leather string was wrapped tightly around her wrist and part of her hand as she clasped tightly onto the slightly vibrating stone, running swiftly she had been dodging and weaving through trees and low branches for the past thirty minutes or so and it had begun to rain.. She snorted to herself stopping only for a moment to scan the area she was in intenyl, finding a small black blotch far off in the distance. Natural instincts told her to head for it, and she did as fast as her legs would carry her at this rate. She stopped about twenty yards away from the cave, sensing someone else there, she had sensed it earlier and ignored it but now it made her a bit edgy. She approached wearily, if she died from this point, so be it.. She had no where else to go. Ten yards away and moving slowly closer she shifted her gaze to the ground, still holding tight to the stone.

Since the rain made his sense of smell useless, Jared had to resort to his eyes to see the approaching creature. Every so often, he thought he could make out something black and white darting through the trees. He strained his ears to try to pick up any sound that was louder than the falling rain. The tiger was spotted only within several yards of the cave. He could tell she had sensed him there too and was hesitating. "Uh...Hi," and then, seeing he had startled her, "sorry, but this cave is dry and I was about to get a fire started."

Name: Nyx
Fursona: Dark Dragoness
Coloring: Black/dark gray with a light gray underbelly. (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/474885/)
Clothing: Ripped and tattered dark gray skirt, tattered black cloak, a pair of happiness goggles, black studded gloves, black buckled top.(http://www.furaffinity.net/view/462665/)
Markings: Nothing in particular.
What you're traveling with: Nothing, for now.

------

Nyx sensed something in her cave. Whatever it was, it was in her entrance. She stood to her haunches and walked down a narrow pathway that exited her own room, and headed to the entrance. Apparently, the two creatures had missed the small lip that diverted attention from the hallway that lead to Nyx's network of caves. Poking her head out from behind the wall of rock, she identified the two intruders. One was a white tiger, one was a white wolf. Nyx let out a low growl. She hated it when people came in and made themselves at home.

Name: Russet
Fursona: Cat
Coloring: Twilight black
Clothing: ripped blue tunic and black traviling breeches
Markings: a scar from a life or death fight with a mean lizard
What you're traveling with: flint, a tinder box, some light
provisions and a strange gemstone

That day was dark and dismal. After being exiled from his clan, Russet had left in hopes of a better life, what he found was rain and lonleyness. He had just given up on finding shelter, when he heard a growl to his left. Turning sharpley, he saw a cave with two people inside backed against a wall. He rushed in, as his curse would not let him leave anyone without defence, or suffer excrusiating pain. He rushed in, screaming savagely, but stoped dead in his tracks, face to face with a dragon...

Jared kept his back pressed against the wall of the cave. He had no issue with the dragoness looming in front of him, but didn't think it'd be easy for her to believe him. He was startled when the cat came bounding into the cave but was glad to see the dragon turn her menacing gaze towards someone else for the moment. Not wanting to see any senseless violence come from the situation, he spoke up. "I can assure you that we thought this cave was not being used when we came in. I'm terribly sorry for trespassing in your domain." The wolf was surprised at his speech being made without stammering. "If you're going to blame anyone for the intrusion, blame me. I was the first here so you can at least let the others go."

Kaz had stayed silent, only shifting her gaze up to look at Jared momentarily as the fur on the back of her neck rose slightly. Another presence in the cave, seeing something move behind the wall of rock she blink and looked upon the dragoness shifting herself slightly so that she was standing partially outside. She turned her head, her attention drawn to a strange noise from outside, soon to find out it was a cat rushing towards them. She blinked and sighed softly, taking the leather strap off her hand and placing the stone around her neck. Her gaze shifted back to the dragoness, who was obviously annoyed with their being there, "I apologize as well." she said softly, "I had no idea, I shall take my leave." she bowed her head slightly and moved back outside, climbing up into a tree finding a hole in a trunk big enough to fit her. She curled up and yawned softly, her gaze fixed on a large mass amongst the tree tops..

Looking at the two that remained in the cave for a moment, she took in a breath and sighed. It was raining rather hard, and she didn't really blame them for coming into her cave thinking it was abandoned. Nyx hadn't really portrayed that she lived here from the entrance. "I suppose you could stay. I just don't like it when individuals make assumptions that they can invade on all property and settle themselves. It happens too much with the humans. And when they settle, they hunt on my game, take all the resources from the land, and try to kill whatever opposes them." Her silvery eyes had turn onto the tiger who had crawled into a hole in a tree. "Go get her and tell her she's welcome to stay as well. The rain is too harsh for her to stay out in the cold. You're welcome to the other chambers in my cave, just don't touch anything." Before turning and heading back to her chamber, the dragoness blew a small flame, lighting the kindilin that the wolf had gathered.

kitsune had seen Kaz come over to the tree and climbing in to the hole and saw her curl up in it, so kitsune hung down from the little house she had made using the branches from the tree and then climbed back up, sets out her pillow and blanket before getting a tin of soup and eatting it,when she was done she looked back over to the cave and saw the dragoness with the two furries as well

Jared stepped out of the cave to go retrieve the tiger. "Hey!" he called, "She says we can stay as long as we don't touch anything." He waited until he saw the tigress begin her descent from the tree before returning to the mouth of the cave. After he had made sure she descended safely, he looked around the cave with the new light made by the fire.

Russet felt his muscles relax, and he knew there was no danger from the dragoness. Sighing softly, he sat near the fire, looking over the wound on his arm. He took out a black gem and, murmering a few words traced the wound with it. The muscles knitted them selves and the pain receded. Sighing in relief, he put the strange stone away, and took out the jerky he had been saving. He began to nible slowly, and said, "I assure you, honourable Dragoness, That I only plan on staying the night," and then,"Why are you all traveling?"...

Kaz had seen Kitsune and blinked, tilting her head slightly before she heard Jared call out to her. She blinked and climbed down slowly head first then jumped down to the ground when she was about ten feet away from the bottom, landing on all fours. Walking slowly back to the cave she was still hesitant, she didn't want pity and that's what this felt like it was. Sighing softly she finally returned to the cave and stood out of view at the mouth, leaning against the rock, she wasn't one to stay around others.. They'd always shunned her in the past. Maybe, maybe tonight would be different.. Finally she stepped into the cave, and looked around at the furres inside, "There is.. Another furre, in the trees.." she murmured softly and pointed to the black mass which made Kitsune's temporary home.

Jared was glad to see the tigress come back into the cave. He hated to see anyone suffer through nature's more harsh moments. "Another fur outside? Hmm....I'm sorry, brave cat, but I'll have to answer your question once I've retrieved it." With that, the wolf again stepped out into the rain, taking notice of the tiger keeping away from the group. When he had gotten to the base of the tree that Kaz had climbed down from, he called up to the fur in the tree. "Hello? We have a warm fire started in the cave and thought you might like to join us since this rain doesn't look like it will stop for quite a while."

Kaz's gaze had shifted to the other cat in the cave and she shifted uneasily, moving away from him she moved to the farthest wall of the cave and sat down. Drawing her knees to her chest slowly, she rested her chin upon her knee caps and yawned softly, her gaze fixed to the dancing flames. 'I hope..' she thought to herself, she didn't want to be forced out because of what she was.. Her mind wandered and she had soon fallen asleep balled up as she was, she was tired.. She'd been traveling for days.

Jared moved back inside the cave in order to give the other fur the opportunity to decide for itself what it would do. When he noticed the dozing tigress, he stepped quietly so as not to disturb her. He took his seat near the fire across from the male cat. "Sorry for that. My name's Jared and I'm traveling to start again in a new place. I wasn't exactly exiled from my original home, but I could tell the furs there sort of, well, wanted me to leave..." The wolf hoped no one had noticed the hesitation. He eyed his left arm's odd coloring, his problems weren't his to unload on others. "But anyway, obviously the circumstances didn't allow me a companion to travel with and you furs I've met today are the first I've encountered since I started."

Name: Vira
Fursona: Black Dragoness
Coloring: Onyx hued scales on the majority of her body, save for her under belly and the membrane on her wings, which is a dark ashen color. Black long locks, falling to her mid back.
Clothing: http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/4070/virafw0.jpg
Markings: None, a row of three small horns run down the middle of her head along the part in her hair, while two larger horns protrude from the very top of her head, on either side.
What you're traveling with: Nothing but a small Elven pendant that hangs at her neck, greatly contrasting with the ashen gray of her neck and chest color with it's brilliant white looking metal.

From her perch atop a cliff that overlooked the now oh-so-popular cave, a dark mass appears from thin air, the eyes materializing first. Their brilliant silver hue glints in the moonlight, along with what appears next, her teeth. Soon the full feral shape of a large black dragoness can be seen as a dark outline against the face of the moon. Shifting her weight to her left foot, she slowly reaches over the ledge of the cliff with her right, bracing massive form against a jut of rock a few feet down. She silently snakes her serpentine like neck down to get a better idea of what the furs were conversing about.

"So it is as I expected. A dragoness takes up residence here," she thought to herself.

"At least she seems to be hospitable, that's a change."

Arching her neck, and shifting her weight to her back legs, the dragoness stood on her haunches, sniffing vaguely at the air. She could catch the faint scent of a few furs in the distance, but nothing too close to be worried about. Taking one last gaze about her settings, she starts her descent to the mouth of the cave, and halfway from the cliff to the cave entrance, her form seems to blow away with the wind, black vapor briefly filling her immediate locale. Then, like smoke shortlived, it too disperses. The last few feet were meticulously planned out, so as to minimize any noise that would alert them to her presence. Arriving at the opening, yet staying in her feral form, she placed herself a few yard from the cave, facing it's inhabitants. Then, as if two silver flames were ignited in the distance, two optics become visible, reflecting the light from the fire within the den. As if smoke were being drawn to their area, the embers and black offspring of the fire inside the cave drifted over to the area of the two occulars. Soon, a mass of black vapor condensed, and took the form of a haunched black dragon, solidifying before their eyes.

"Greetings," Vira said with a calculating look in her eye.

"I have come to seek solace from the storm," and then adding "I will shift into my anthro form, as to take up the least space."

Until she got an answer; however, she stayed in her full sized feral form, so if need be she could take flight, or defend herself. You never knew with some furs, and she had many a scar to attest to her experience with inhospitable ones she had happened across. She stayed haunched, awaiting the resident dragoness to answer. She kept her focus on the one she spoke to, maintaining eye contact in a non-challenging way, in more of the way dragons kept eye contact, to show their respect for the what the other dragon has to say. She reclined back from the cave just a bit to show she was not going to approach without approval first.

"It's fine." Nyx said nodding to the other dragoness that had seemingly appered from nowhere. "Seems many need to take refuge for the night." Her tail curled around her ankle lazily, "I can't exactly blame you. The weather is rather awful tonight."

Russet Turned away from the Dragoness', after all, there uneasiness wasn't directed towards him. He walked quietly toward the tigress, who's name he didn't know, and quickly built a fire in front of her. Taking the gem out of his pack, he held it over the logs and, Mumering a few words, they burst into flame.
Turning to the wolf, Jared he said, "I'm Russet, and I'm traveling east ,to Sylvinest. I actually was exiled from my village up north, because of a curse with rather, ah, unusual ramifications." He walked back to the fire by the tigress and curled up, triing to catch up on lost sleep...

"Thankyou," Vira said with a brief dip of her snout of thanks.

The dark vapor again condensed around her, and enveloped the entirety of her shape, and when it faded, a woman with jet black hair and the scales of a dragon remained. She was wearing a black leather dress with a cloak built into the back that brushed the floor. She walked over to the edge of the fire's light, and sat in semi darkness on the ground. Tucking her wings in tight against her back, she reclined against the wall for a rest. Yawning slightly, and shifting to a good spot, Vira observed the other furs, taking account of any baggage they had brought. She was always one to travel with nearly nothing, as dragons are resourceful creatures and can often find and utilize whatever they need. By the same tolken, though, since she was able to change to a feral form, she needed next to nothing.

Leaning forward just a bit, she pulled her ebony locks over her shoulder and wrung them out onto the ground. Using her clawed fingers, she delicately combed them through her hair, and turned her attention to the one dubbed Russet, for she had caught a glimpse of the black stone he carried. She focused more intently apon seeing him use it to make a fire.

"Well, well, well. What a rag tag group we are, but I see there are interesting characters here," Vira thought to herself with a barely audible half chuckle.

"Quite the trinket you have there.. Russet, is it?" she spoke from the side of the cave, shrouded by the dark where the flames light had not yet chased it away.

Russet jumped at the sound of his name, and turned around. The newcomer, the dragoness, had reverted into her furry form and had asked him a question,

" Yes it it Russet, Russet Fleetfoot actually, and this 'Trinket' is a very old and very rare metal, called Chromedinite, used for enhancing the abilities of those with magic. Lets just say I 'acquired it' from a temple to the north, near my village." He told the dragoness with hesitance.

He turned around, and stared into the flames in front of him, mulling over the event that took place in his mind.

He had gone to the Azrith Temple, to rid his village of the nuisance there, but found the gem instead.
He used it on the lizard mage hiding there and won, but with great consequence. The temple had been destroyed, and a witch-woman by the name of Shota had cursed him.

Upon returning to his village, he met not a welcoming people, but a mob, that had heard the explosion and thought it was him, so the held a council, and the village elders found him guilty, where he had been exiled, and left for a better life...

Nyx decided to stay in the entrance with the others, though she'd rathered retire to her chamber. This group of furs that she had literally found on her doorstep seemed interesting enough. Leaning back, she let out a long sigh. The night was early, and the rain poured from the sky in buckets, almost eliminating the sight of the full moon. Even though it was draped in water, it still managed to shine through.

Her interest turned to the other dragoness. It had been a while since she had seen another of her kind, most dragons had been wiped out by now. In fact, she had almost been wiped out herself. But she had appealed to the humans' more charitable side, and instead they had performed horrible experiments on her, "enhanced" her with a cybernetic arm, and kept her as a captive until she had escaped. She hadn't been residing in the cave for long... And now she hoped none of these furs worked for the humans.

"So, what brings you to these parts?" She asked Vira.

Vira nodded to Russet, and thought over what he had said. She hoped for his sake that he knew better than to flash that stone as carelessly as he had done this night. She'd known gems of much lesser value that people had murdered for.

Turning to Nyx, she spoke with a heaviness as if the subject was not an easy one to speak of.

"Searching," she said simply, and then added, "for a long lost sibling. Many years ago, when there were enough of our kind to have our own clans, I had a family. A mother, a father, and two sisters." Getting a far away look in her eye, she continued, "Then the humans came. They stole some 'specimens' for research, but killed many more. My mother, father, and older sister all died protecting our home. My younger sister and I fled, but not soon enough. The humans saw our retreat, and tracked us. They ambushed us one night, and stole my sister. I was severely injured defending her, to the brink of even death, so they left me to die."

Vira reached a hand up and touched the pendant on her neck, "That's when a friend happened apon me. A woman who was well versed in healing, and potions. She nursed me to health. This pendant is hers, and on her death bed she gave it to me. Once she passed away, I had nothing left to stay for, so I started searching for my sister. I got information on where the dragons had been taken, but by the time I arrived, their facility had been long abandoned. They travel frequently, and leave almost no traces of anything. Now, I think they are onto me, because they have become even harder to find."

Her gaze drifted back into focus, almost as if drawing from the past to the present.

"I have.. acquired," she said the last word with hesitance, "information on where they were last seen. It was a facility up in the mountains, but I got there too late. They had moved on. I started my decent down the mountain, and happened to see you all congregating here, so I thought I would wait out the storm in the company of others."

Jared listened attentively to the fur's stories before leaning up against the wall not too far away from the white tigress. He closed his eyes and leaned his head against the wall of the cave with a smile. "It's good to have the company of others without being an outcast for once," he said this to no one in particular and was only thinking aloud, "I wonder....where will I end up living? Where will my journey end?" He nervously opened his eyes slowly, hoping no one had heard his murmuring. When he saw most had their eyes were on him, he looked to the floor and gave a nervous chuckle. "Heh, sorry about that..."

Kaz jumped at the sudden warmth and looked up startled, she saw the group again with a new addition as well. She shifted slightly and sat with her legs crossed, and looked out over the group. She leaned against the wall behind her and kept quiet, she had been sleeping after all she really had no idea what they had been conversing about. Taking her stone back in her hands she held it gently, as though it were very fragile. She was uneasy she wasn't used to so many people in such a small area, not to metioned she always seemed to get attacked by others at every turn. Gazing out into the dark, wet night she heaved a soft sigh and then shifted her gaze to the flames before her.

Jared had heard enough. He had no hurry to get somewhere when he didn't know where he was going. Turning to Vira, he said: "If it would be all right with you, young dragoness, I would like to assist you in any way that I can on this search for your lost loved one.           An endless twisting hallway,
Dimly lit, no sound, except water dripping in the darkness and Russet's beating heart. Running blindly,  Darkness closing in from behind, urging him to run, faster and faster... It is an advisary he cannot see, only sense.
He colapses, and the darkness closes in...

Russet awoke in a cold sweat, panting heavily. He knew there was no sleeping again that morning. With a sigh he slowly got up, shivering. He had had no blanket, it was on the quivering form of the tigress, she must have been having nightmares too...

He walked slowly outside, and, with a mighty yawn, started warming up for his morning practise. He was aware of someone watching behind him, but he ignored them. Turning to the nearest unocupied tree, he began to punch and kick.

"Left.Right, left, hook kick!" he called out to himself. He proceeded this for two and a half hours, at witch point he stopped for a short break. Fifteen minutes later, he was back up, and running without pause, for one hour.

"Do you always start each morning as such?" a voice called out to him...

Jared chuckled. "I don't mean any offense, I'm just not used to seeing someone start their day so intensely," he said. He yawned and scratched his ribs. "It's good to sleep in the company of friendly furs, isn't it?" Without waiting for a response, Jared stepped outside of the cave and went off where it would be quiet and he could be alone for the moment. He sat down under the shade of an ancient oak tree and removed his shirt. He closed his eyes and reflected on the events that had transpired since he left his home town.

Vira nodded to both Nyx and Jared.

"That's very kind of you, both of you. I would like it very much to have help, as it seems that I'm always one step behind. Maybe a couple extra pairs of paws would help me catch up," she said smiling.

Vira was able to catch moderate sleep that night, and awoke to the sound of Russet doing his exercises against a tree.

"Well, I guess that means no more sleep for me," she mused with a yawn revealing a set of large fangs, which slightly overlapped her lip when her mouth was shut.

Staying within the still cool air within the confines of the cave, Vira sat cross legged with her back facing the others. She closed her eyes and placed her hands in her lap, murmuring something barely audible. A small sphere-like orb of what seemed to be pitch black smoke arose from her palms, hovering moments in the air, before disolving into thin air. Sliding her feet out to both sides of her, Vira stretched, still murmuring some unknown chant. Once she had achieved her needed state of mind, she stood and walked out into the sun, wincing only slightly at it's brightness.

"Looks to be a better day than yesterday," she smiled. "While I don't mind the rain, something about the sun on your scales can do much for your countenance."

Nyx had not slept that night, and before the others had awakened, she made her way to a rock, ready to sunbathe. Although she was a dark dragoness and preferred the night, she always seemed to want to get her daily dose of sunshine. The sun rose, and she took a short nap before the others began to stir. Groggily lifting her head and absorbing the warmth, she saw one, Russet training while the other dragoness made her way out of the cave.

Kaz moved the blanket to the side, poking at the burning embers of the almsot dead fire. She stood up slowly and stretched whilst yawning, she looked around and noticed she seemed to be the only one left inside the cave and she blinked. Stepping over everyones belongings she poked her head outside and began to watch as everyone moved about, 'So hungry.." she said softly to herself placing her paw to her stomach. She knew there'd be no dry firewood left it had been raining too hard, and all night. Gingerly she stepped out into the sun, cringing from the brightness slightly before looking around her, noticing Nyx off int he distance, Russet training, and Jared and Vira who seemed to have just gotten out of the cave.

She moved off away from everyone to hunt for food, finding a small stream she sat near the edge contemplating. "Honestly I don't feel like getting wet.." she said to herself before stepping into the cold waters, a shiver sent up her spine. "Figures.." she sent her paw straight into the waters and threw a fish onto the dry land, "I wonder if they shall want some as well.." she said pulling out fish after fish throwing them to the river bank, forming a nice pile. "That should be enough..." she turned and began to gather the fish up into a cloth and then she tied it off and held it at her side.

She had begun to return to the cave when she heard something in the forest snap, a dry twig it had seemed. Ears pricking up instantly she stood still as she looked into the distance around her, all she saw were trees and shadows.. The sun had not fully risen yet and hadn't reached the area she was in, the trees shadows covered next to everything.

Jared snapped to attention and put his shirt back on. The twig snapping made him jump since it was so quiet beforehand. He saw that Kaz had heard it too and quietly went to join her, his ears trying to pick up any sound that would give away whatever it was.

Wearily Kaz moved back to the cave something was following her, and she couldn't figure out what. She could sense it, and hear it, yet she couldnt' pick up it's scent and that bothered her. Noticing Jared walking towards her she moved slightly faster than previous and placed her free paw on his shoulder, "I don't know, what's out there.." she said slightly short of breath, "I can't pick up a scent..."

Hand still tightly clinging to the cloth of fish she looked behind her, she had made her way out of the dence trees and could see everyone else in view now, Russet, Nyx, Vira.. Looking behind her again she waited. wanting to know what it was lurking in the darkness and expecting to find nothing.

Vira could sense something, as well. A dark mass of smoke condensed seemingly from thin air, and enveloped her. As it grew, she did also, taking her full feral form. She nodded to Kaz as she approached, noticing she was slightly out of breath and guessing she had sensed the presence of another also.

Vira made a few steps towards the trees, and stopped, becoming invisible from tail to tip. She was now prepared for whatever would emerge from the brush.

Kaz looked on into the forest still waiting for whatever it was that had spooked her, minutes passed and still nothing... Then suddenly as quickly as it had come, the feeling vanished she no longer sensed anything and that made her even more on edge. "It... It's gone?.." she said puzzled, almost dropping her catch of fish. She was tempted to go back into the forest just to investigate but knew, if something was there... If she couldn't sense it she'd be just like bait. "How strange.." she murmured to herself softly, 'Maybe it was just my imagination..' she thought to herself as she stood there somewhat sheepish. She knew they had sensed it as well, but whatever it was it was gone now.

She headed back to the cave and sat back in the spot she had dozed off in, dropping the cloth full of fish in the middle of the floor. 'What.. was out there...' she kept talking to herself within her head, trying to work out what it was that had spooked her. The fur on the back of her neck was still pricked high, she felt watched.. "I hunted fish for everyone.." she finally said looking up to those who came back into the cave.

Seeing the others gather back to the cave, Nyx groggily stood on all  fours and walked into the cave where the others were flocked around a pile of fish. Apparently, the tigress had caught them for the group. The dragoness's appetite was not at large, so she thanked the tigress and found a corner in the cave to sit.

Kaz nodded to Nyx and then opened the cloth which held the fish pile, spreading the fish out on the cloth she sat back. "I hope this is enough for everyone.." she said softly and with her gaze to the floor, she bowed her head and sat back still slightly spooked from whatever it was that had been in the forest.

Russet paused. He had sensed something... The feeling was gone but he knew what it was. He walked slowly back to the cave, smelling fish. He grabbed a bass from the pile, mumbled his thanks, and sat in a far corner. He absentmindedly started a fire and began to cook the bass.

he thought to himself,
Why, why is this happening here, now? I haven't felt this... dread, in a long time. Why brother? Why have you come back to haunt me now? It's been, three and a half years... have you come for the pendent, or because of what happened there all those years ago...

Carrying with: Wearing a set of dog-tags around his neck, weapons on his back under a hiking backpack, and a water pouch on a belt around his waist. Inside the backpack: A full spare set of clothing, (when fully active) a week's worth of Meals-Ready-to-Eat (google MRE and you'll see what I mean), a full spare waterpack, and a white ocarina.

Vosur wanders into the forest, he knew he had to move about almost constantly... and so began his trek through the woods. He didn't know what to expect nor did he want to find anything he didn't prepare for, but sometimes that is how life is.

((And this'll be where I'll have to end it for the night... getting late for me and time to crash...))

Something about the way the situation, and her dragon sense, had played out bothered Vira. She didn't like the idea of something being able to shift in and out of her detection that easily. Staying in her feral, invisible form, she took a few more steps towards the forest.

"I will be back soon," she tossed back at the group as they gathered around the fish.

Slinking off silently, Vira made her way deeper into the forest, snaking in and out of trees. She stopped by the river, where she guess the fish that had been caught must have come from, and lowered her form to the ground. She'd come this far, and there was still no sign of danger present.

Vira stopped by the river, and feeling more relaxed now, and still not sensing any danger, she laid down on the bank for a nap. Vira splayed her long black locks out over the grass to dry, and drifted off.

As he continued moving, he heard the runnuing water of a river. Perfect timing... I need to fill up both water packs... he thought to himself. Vosur had consumed all the water from both of them during his quick movement and needed to refill them as quickly as he could. Kneeling down to fill one of them with his left hand to move it against the current of the clear water, he hears movement nearby. Hoping he hadn't already drawn added attention to himself, he finished filling up the one water pack and puts it away, then quietly begins to fill the other, constantly shifting his eyes and ears to keep himself aware of his surroundings.

Kaz had drawn her legs up to her chest having lost her appetite, then began to watch the fire dance about. 'What.. was that?' she thought to herself, 'It had no scent.. And there wasn't anything dry out there to begin with...' she turned her head and rested her cheek on her knee, 'How strange... And what made it worse, I didn't even SEE it..' she continued to ponder in silence and soon it became apperant she was lost in her thoughts. Shifting only slightly to take hold of the odd stone in her hand, she held it to her chest and sighed softly.

He looks around again and pulls out the second water pack from the river and puts it on his belt... he didn't hear movement anymore. "Probably my imagination.." He ventures over to a large chair-like rock and sits on it, pulling out a brilliantly-white flute-like instrument, but it was shaped like a potato. (An ocarina)  He quietly plays a few notes on it, then as he relaxes to his own music, he begins to play more fluidly with each passing moment.

Snapping awake, Vira jumped to her feet, and glanced around. She had been in a deeper sleep than what she had expected to be, and hadn't heard anyone approach. Her dragon sense only alerted her to danger, the rest she had to rely on her senses for. She hadn't sensed danger, but she could hear music drifting from further down the river.

Wringing the rest of the water out of her hair, and throwing it over her shoulder, and stalked towards the noise. She came to a rock outcropping about ten feet away from where the stranger sat, and peeked from behind it. She saw the wolf with the Ocarina, and studied him harshly. She thought it rather foolish of him to have alerted any in the area of his presence without finding out whether there was danger about. She didn't see or sense anything that would give her the idea that he was foe, but that wasn't enough for her to come out and introduce herself, either. He was probably just passing through, and she was already uncomfortable with as many furs as there was at the cave. Sure, she struck a cord with some, but she was ultimately a loner, and had been for a very long time.

"If he finds the cave, then so be it, but I'll be damned if I am the one to lead him here. It's quite crowded enough already," she thought to herself.

Vira turned, and headed the opposite way of the stranger, back towards her sunning spot by the river. She sat facing the river, and pulled her hair over her shoulders again to dry the rest of the way. Leaning her chin on her hand, she pondered over the days events, especially the mornings, with whatever that strange feeling had been.

He accidentally strikes a wrong note, this jarring himself out of his music. Opening his eyes and moving his ears around, he regains his awareness to everything around him, tipping his ocarina to one side and shaking it for a moment before putting it away. "Hm... odd... I don't recall any reptilian life normally in this area during this time of the year. It's normally too cold for them." His nose was twitching as he was catching many scents, it was almost as if he was trying to focus on just one scent. "Not anything that was following me... but obviously trying to mask its own scent."

Feeling a rather strong urge to move Kaz had stood up and wormed her way past everyone in the cave, stepping out into the now high sun she blinked away the light while she adjusted to it. Slowly she brought her hands over her head and stretched, yawning some because usually by this time she'd be sleeping. As she began to walk further out she cupped her hands over the odd stone, 'What is wrong.. Why haven't you been doing what you were..?' she asked it softly. Normally the stone would glow ever so slightly, or vibrate just a little... Lately it hadn't been.

'Perhaps that thing.. Whatever it was..' she stopped herself and shook her head, "Nah.." she finally said loud enough fro someong to hear. She continued walking off into the distance and began to wonder where Vira had gone, she had said she was going further into the forest. 'I wonder if she's alright.. It's been awhile.' she thought to herself as she began to head that direction. Weaving through the trees silently she began to feel tense, this time there was someone else.

She peeked from behind a tree hidden within the shadows, a white wolf it had seemed was sitting on a rock only a little ways away from Vira. Kaz blinked and walked over to Vira, "Did you find anything?" she said softly as she moved to sit on a rock that was behind the dragoness.

Russet was jarred out of his thoughts be the ocarina hitting a wrong note.

It's been awhile since I've heard that music... he thought  to himself, with a smile.

He got up with a mighty stretch, and walked towards the river, where Vosur had been playing his ocarina.
He rounded a corner, and was walking towards Vosur, sitting on a rock, when he was pulled behind a tree by Kaz.
"Watch  out!" She whispered furiously "There's a strange wolf out there!"
"I know." he replied, "He is...was...my best best friend in my village" and with that, he stepped into the clearing.
"Hey Vosur!" he called out, "Long time no see. I see you still can't play that, after all these years!" He called with a grin on his face...

((Since you're RPing that he knows Vosur... I'll make it seem plausible.) Slowly rises to his feet. "Hm?" He turned towards the voice and unsheathed both katana, the wavy blue pattern on both blades gleams in the sunlight... a sign of a powerful alloy called Damascus Steel. He wore a large shield-like gauntlet on his dominant hand (paw?), which was his left, the plating was shown to be of the same alloy also. "And you are?" he said as he shifted his head slightly lower to allow his eyes to connect to this individual's.

Nyx had been meditating in a cozy corner of the cave when she realized that there was only her and the original white wolf inside. She opened her gray eyes and looked out of the entrance of the cave. The sun shone brightly from the blue sky, and small white tufts of clouds lazily drifted across the horizon. Gathering herself and standing on her haunches, she nodded to the white wolf as if she were bidding him farewell. To be quite frank, she hadn't been residing in the cave for long, and now wanted to leave. She was sure the humans may have already tracked her to the cave when she felt a disturbance this morning... A sinking feeling as if there was a bad aurora about the area. And as she had head bits and pieces from the others thoughts, nobody could identify what that thing may have been. This made the dragoness a bit uneasy.  She didn't want to be captured again.
She took a few steps outside of the cave and peered up at the sky taking in a big whiff of the clean air and allowing a few black flames to escape her throat as she exhaled. The sun was warm against her scales... It made her want to nap in it again. But she knew that she couldn't. Nyx stretched her wings to their full extent and took to the air. She could sense the others near the river along with the scent of a new fur. Diverting her flight to other places, she headed in their direction to see what was going on.

"It's...me...Russet" Russet said tentatively, tilting my head in puzzlement. "We were partners at the training dojo...remember... I was your best friend before I left half a year ago..."  He took a slow step backwards, fearing a trick by his brother.

He was confused, Vosur had been his only defendant against the elders in the village.
Surly, he would not have forgotten me that quickly... he thought to himself.

Just to be safe, he pulled out the gem, and felt the magic flowing, amplified by the dark stone.

He thought he saw recognition in Vosur's eyes, but he couldn't be sure, the sun was in his eyes...

"I hit my head about a year ago... then was taken into the nearby military. Most humans despised one such as myself being so skilled... but there were a few who thought of me as friends." He slowly sheathed the blades. "Why am I telling you all of this though? I feel like I know you but not really sure why... after I had awoken from the hit, I could only remember my own name."

Vira nodded to Kaz.

"Just some stranger. I didn't announce myself," she said, making a jerking movement towards Vosur.

"Looks like a class reunion. Seems Russet knows him somehow."

Vira yawned and sat up, and turned towards them. She found it strange that Russet was so sure of himself, and that Vosur seemed so lost within his own memories.

It is surely none of my concern. I have enough bad memories of my own.

Vira let out a deep frustrated sigh when Russet pulled out his gem again. Why did he insist on showing it to one and all? He was going to get himself into a heap of trouble that way.

That's none of my concern... she reassured herself. Now was not the time to take on others lives to protect.

Turning to Kaz, Vira gave her a serious look, "I believe what we felt earlier might have something to do with the humans I'm tracking. They've been able to learn certain things from the dragons they captured and experimented on. My sister was among those gifted with dark arts and invisibility. I would hate to think they've accessed either of those abilities, but this mornings events have lead me to think that they have."

Turning to Kaz and Vira, he said "It's alright you guys, hes okay, just a little amnesia, but I know him, he's alright."

Name: Rhoon
Fursona: Wolf
Coloring: White and black
Clothing:Headband, baggy sweatshirt, jeans.
Markings: Panda-like markings.
What you're traveling with: matches, a dagger, a broken necklace, rope, & thread all in a small bag.

He hands reached down, grabbing a handful of sand, it filed through her fingers smothly. She smirked and looked around a bit, the wind blew the branches of the trees to a screeching howl. The sky was gray and clouded over, her bag still full. Looking behind her, she realised how different it was here from where she grew up. A sigh escaped her mouth as Rhoon continued walking, the grass rubbed against her overused paws. When she squinted, the faint outline of a cave appeared, perhaps, shelter?

Kaz's eyes shot over to the strange wolf she'd seen and she had nodded, "I see." she fell silent for a moment and crossed her arms over her chest, "So he knows him? Huh.." Kaz eyed the two males skeptically, 'When'd the wolf get here anyways? You'd think Vira would have left the second she'd sensed someone near.' she thought to herself and then she shook her head slightly as Russet brought out the stone, 'Honestly...' she continued within her own mind, 'If he took that stone as he claims, why would he flash it around..' she frowned.

Vira had begun to speak again and Kaz's ears pricked up intently as she listened to the dragoness cocking an eyebrow, she was confused at what the dragoness was speaking about at first. Nodding once Vira had finished, "But if the humans had learned such things, why was I unable to pick up a scent? Invisibility or not, they'd still have a scent." she then pointed to the still moist ground, "And besides that, when it approached me I heard a twig snap.. But when you look around the ground is much to wet for something to so much as crunch, slosh maybe yes.. But not what I heard.." She sighed and began questioning if anything had really happened or not within her head.

Looks to Russet. "If you are with others, then I must leave you. I cannot endanger their lives." He looks to the gauntlet he wears on his left hand. "I think I may have already endangered you with trying to calm myself." His ears shifted around as his eyes began to move. "This gauntlet I wear holds more secrets to it than what you can see or sense... although the metal is the same as my weapons, it has very unique properties that some people are trying to exploit. And so I must move on.... hide your scent and hide yourselves, because we have alot to talk about once we meet up again." He placed his hands on both katana and began running away from the scene.

Nyx swooped down stealthily a short ways from the group hidden by brush. She had caught the last bit of conversation between Russet and the other wolf. The stranger. He seemed to be running from someone or something as she did. She watched him dart off into the forest, leaving Russet behind.
Silently shifting through the brush again, she found Vira and Kaz and although she was hiding her scent and herself from the others, she was almost positive that Vira would pick up on her presence. Being a dragoness, even if something was well hidden, you could still feel it there. She wondered whether she should leave the others without announcing it. For a brief moment, it seemed wrong.
Nyx shook her head and stood to her haunches and walked into the clearing in which Kaz and Vira stood. She injected herself into their conversation, "You'd be amazed at some of the things that the humans learned from us. Some of them even learned how to control us. To use us like puppets. And although the creature may not be HUMAN, it could possibly be another of Vira and I's kind working for them. We dragons know how to hide our scents from others. How to hide very well in general. Why do you think that it took so long for the humans to actually pick up on our existence in the first place?" Her eyes went from their usual silvery glow to a dull gray. "I believe I've put you guys in danger, because the humans have been trying to find me since I escaped their wretched institution. They want me because I am one of the few creatures who survived this." she said, shifting her gaze to her cybernetic arm. "I've seen some of my kind have these enhancements, but their body did not accept the artificial parts as its own. I would have to watch them slowly... die." Nyx lowered her head, disappointed, "They'd come up to me with their scales discolored and flaking... crying. Crying because they... they... h-hurt. Wyrms of all sizes and ages. Crying. And that's only in my group. I can't imagine what pains they put the others through."

Can't tell him that this gauntlet is actually my arm, he'd never believe me on what it is made from... living metal. He continued to run, he was almost pushing himself to his breaking point when he dashed away from the scene... not running for his own life, but for the lives of others.

Kaz blinked for a moment and looked over to Nyx whom had just appeared, "I'm sorry, I didn't know.." she said softly before shifting uneasily feeling a bit foolish before lifting a paw to place on Nyx's shoulder in comfort. "Well, I suppose I should take my leave... I've been looking for something and i've rested long enough." she bowed her head to all present, "Perhaps we shall meet again sometime, until then Farewell." she turned and headed off in the only way that seemed logical since she'd come the other, she'd follow in Vosur's steps. Wondering if she'd ever find what she needed she sighed softly before turning back, her gaze scanning the others of whom she had just left. 'Ah well..' she shrugged to herself and continued off into the fading daylight.

"Why do you run when others offer a possibility of  help?" Jared chuckled lightly as he stepped from behind a tree near Vosur. He had run to catch up with him, rushing past the female wolf. When Vosur had slowed, he crept along stealthily, hoping not to alarm him. "I'm sorry if I startled you, but I don't believe we've been properly introduced." He offered his right paw to Vosur. "My name's Jared."

"Shh!" Russet whispered, " don't, you'll only push him away, he runs because of that 'gauntlet'. It's living metel, a curse from when we were younger. Do not follow him, he'll return when he wants, on his OWN time, not yours." Russet paused for a breath and began to tell him that story, from so long ago...

He had sprinted a bit further from another wolf that tried to follow him, going until he was clear out of sight. He did push himself almost too far this time... dropping to one knee from the fatigue. "Why... why must I have this burden of this arm... and those who put this 'shield' into my arm. It makes no sense to me on why I was given such responsibility... but to prevent others coming to harm for my punishment, I will not stay any longer than is necessary, I have to divert any 'following attention' away from them." He continued to think, just barely audible in whispers.

Russet sighed heavily,
"No, he was my best friend growing up, but I thought of him as family. We trained at the same dojo, my father's. we were best friends, but always triing to outdo eachother. I was a little more skilled, but he thought my father favoured my, as I was family. He was jealous, and ran into the forest, the day I was banished. It broke my heart that he hated me so, and I never saw him after, so I couldn't explain." Ruset walked into the cave, emensly depressed, " I'm leaving now, for the next city, does anyone need to go there? I don't mind the company."
He began to gather his stuff, pausing to grab his canteen, "I'll be at the river for awhile, I need to gather my thoughts... ad bathe."
and with that he slowly walked into the fog...

He now sits, his heavy breathing from the run and the weight of everything he was wearing. Pulling out a set of dog-tags from underneath his shirt and begins looking at them, he ponders... still just barely audible. "Vosur Aekira... Commander... 108th Ground-Based Special Forces Division... why do people see me as being so important? I don't know why I was entrusted this 'shield' and arm..." Tucks the tags back in, looking into the night sky. "I am no leader..." Memories seemed to elude him as he tried finding them in the star-filled sky.

(OOC: Wo0T! first post in forever on this RP!!! changed ma name to tekai)

Tekai sat at the edge of the water, thinking as he filled his canteen
Why? Why must all I meet eventually turn against me?! Stupid curse!
His ear's twitched, he had heard a twig snap behind him
"Who's there?" he called into the fog, as slowly, the fog swirled, and he came face to face to...
"Oh. My. God!"...

Name: Aidan
Fursona: Dog
Coloring: White with brown patches
Clothing: baggy black silk pants with small purple butterflies and a simle black tank top
Markings: one brown patch over the right eye
What you're traveling with: small dagger, a carved bow and a small quiver with a neckalce in the bottom and some stranger berries.

More than a little lost and rather confused, aidan searches for the owners of the scents shes picked up. Recently dumped by the humans after a brutal beating she limps slightly favoring her right hind leg and is using the bow as support. Having refused to actually track animals for the humans for three years they had finally deemed her incompetent and she had narrowly saved herself from being beaten to death but being alive is no good to someone when they are utter lost and too injured to hunt. Its been two days since shes eaten.

Tekai ran out of the water, to the strangers side.
"Are you ok?...hang on," he knew he shouldn't be doing this, but he had to help this girl. he heitantly pulled out his gemstone, murmering a few words and traced it along her leg and body.
"ah... You should be ok now, names Tekai by the way, but you can call me Squall,"
he extended a hand to the stranger...

Suprised and a little frightened a hesitent smile appears with the relief of the pain. "thank you" aidan stammers "your kindness will be returned someday, although there is very little i can do for you right now it seems. i cant even seem to find my way..." she pauses looking around, "i dont really have anyplace to be either. id like to tell you im lost, but i wasnt exactly headed anywhere either. im sorry you should not be around me, the humans are looking for me, or theyve given up but i dont want to take a chance. i will leave you now, thank you." she turns to carry on her own way,not wantingto put anyone in danger for her sake, she helped the humans catch people like them, or at least that was what she was supposed to do, she certainly wasnt going to start now.

Squall, as he will be known as from here on in, grabbed her arm,
"WAIT! If your not going anyware, why not come to Kendellmere with me, I'll protect you from the humans, just ah, let me get my shirt on..." he blushed when he realized he was topless, he pulled on his shirt and pack, waiting for her answer.

Having not noticed nor cared, she giggled for the first time since she was a puppy, im still worried about the humans but i do want to go with him  raising her eyebrows,"you know, when im not injured i can take perfectly good care of myself," she shifts her eyes the the bow at her hand and points to the quiver on her back, "im not totally helpless" but the last words sound almost hollow as she realizes she has nothnig special about her except her knowledge of herbs anad her carving abilities, how am i ever going to make it on my own?

Squall looked at her, somewhat amused
"I never said your were helpless, but the way you hold your bow, and the fact you dont have a bracer tells me you have no clue as to how to use that, but don't worry, I'll help you learn..." He grabed his pack, pulkling out his own leather bracer and shuffled it on, slinging his long bow and quiver on his shoulder, he starded walking of th the east. he looked back
"come on! I'm not gonna wait all day!" he teased good-natured in a manner.

OOC: I've acutally shot a tradional bow and bracers are discouraged in my family =) so discouraged taht i had to look up what it even was. Just an accessory lol learned something new though.
IC:

more defensivly than she meant to say it to the helpful stranger, "im perfectly capable of using this thank you. but i am a healer and have little intention of using it!" unsure of whether to follow or not she goes against better judgement and follows behind slightly.

Squall chuckled lihjtly to himself, it was easy to spot greenhorns now...
"Hey, heay! Easy girl, I'm just having some fun! lets go though as it it, it will take about a week to get there... I want to leave as soon as possible..." Squall checked the forest again, afraid his brother's minions were watching, he sighed and hiched his pack up on shoulder, walking into the fog...

continuing on behind him she trys to ignore her fears of the humans and focuses on the plants around her. curious she askes, "so why did you help me? and who are you? i know you told me squall but where are you from? are you ru..." and she stops thinking that he too could be part of a human run pack or just a nice person, but she wasnt going to take that chance.
