Title: Really awesome video game
Post by: Cifero Windtail on February 15, 2011, 11:30:35 PM
This is my idea for a video game. The game itself is called SIMULACRUM. It's about a world where everyone controls a different group of characters from popular media, with a specific one for the hypothetical "host". For example, the main character's "Host" Simulacrum is Captain Kuro from One Piece, and other characters in his group are Master Chief, Cabaji the Acrobat (also from One Piece), Neo, Lara Croft, Jayfeather from the Warriors series (healer, medicine cat, blind), The Van Willams Green Hornet and the Bruce Lee Kato (package deal), and Rinzler (cough, Tron) from the movie TRON: LEGACY. Both book and movie characters appear in the game, including Robin Hood, Jonah Hex, Imhotep from THE MUMMY and THE MUMMY RETURNS, and other characters, including Lord Loss and Artery (THE DEMONATA, book series, package deal), Agent Smith (Neo's arch-enemy), the irrepressible Dr. Henry Jones Jr., a.k.a. Indiana Jones, every single character from MARTIAL CHAMPION, and Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.

Pretty awesome, right?

Problem with that idea is that it's a heck of a lot of paperwork and a lot of companies working together, in the end it might be more costly to them than actually being successful. But that's just my two cents, I would like to see something like that released. Reminds me of Jump Ultimate Stars on DS and Super Smash Brawl on Wii.

What if they had similar powers, but weren't actually the real thing?

Honestly Ciefero it sounds like a more expensive Capcom Vs Marvel or kingdom hearts. Not to mention the need to create models for every single character, capture and animate movements for each one, create shaders to fit them this is just only scratching the surface. Physics engine licenses, video codec license and more are needed then you have to integrate them into a game engine before you could even write the code for the game. I just don't see it being made, or being sold.

There would be to many licensing to deal with. They would end up bankrupt if the game did not sell. Jump Ultimate used only shonen jump characters therefore the licensing was amazingly cheap.

Licensing could also mean, Royalty fees, software and more.

Oh...

Again, what if the characters had SIMILAR powers, but weren't exact copies?

And what if there was a fallback plan? Like one with a ghost detective trainee in a land where everyone's some type of monster or creature that's many times better than Sissel's stupid game.
