okay, about a month ago, I was attacked by a guy with a gun. He stole about $400 from me and took off. As he ran, he had his gun holstered in his coat so I tackled him. He fell and dropped the gun and I kick it away. The gun discharged and shot him in the chest. He died and I was not convicted because it was self defense. And last night I could swear I say him outside my window staring at me. I looked away for like two seconds and he was gone! I'm really freaked out! Help me!

You feel responsible for his death and so you may see his image every now and then. In a sense, you experienced Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
-
Think rationally, The guy is dead and its not your fault thats it. End of story.
As for a tip of what to do... Just have a good day, do something you like, watch a movie or something.
Hope that helped
(is it just me or did that sound very dr. Phil-ish? Now thats scary!)

thanks, that makes me feel alot better.

It's completely normal to see things like that. It is post traumatic stress disorder, it'll probably stick around for a little while but you'll get over it. If you dont then get a psychiatrist.

I agree with Vosur. Basically you're experiencing a version of what some veterans went through after being involved in a war. Death is involved in both situations, along with some kind of trauma and probably a little guilt (even in a self defense situation, it's possible for a person to feel guilty for taking another's life, even though your attacker probably wouldn't have felt any guilt if he had killed you).
You'll be okay. It's normal to feel that way. I know I would because I'm not the kind of person who would even think about killing somebody, but I understand that there's a chance that things may come to that if I need to defend myself.
-
what really gets me is that I didn't mean to kill him. I was trying to get the gun out of his reach and the force of the kick discharged it.
-
I know. And maybe that's what is bothering you the most, that you didn't mean for it to happen.
It makes a lot of sense that way.
-
i still feel really guilty.

For to have a death on your hands, in your own opinion, will always be with you. The thing that you have to do is try and get over the death yourself. You have to realise that you in no way meant to hurt him, and it was very unfortunate that experience had to happen to you. Things happen for a reason, and in all honesty, if that guy hadn't have died then, he probably would have sooner or later if he was carrying a gun.
It isn't your fault, the courts decided that also. But the guilt may perhaps be making you to hallucinate him, or you just perhaps you saw someone else and someones shadow. But if its still really bothering you (as admittedly it would do me), may i suggest counseling, because perhaps verbally discussing whats going through your head in a confidential and safe environment might perhaps make you realise yourself you're a good person. pm me if you wamnt to talk more- :) xxx
