When I saw the thread about Avatar: The Last Airbender, it immediately reminded me of James Cameron (he of Terminator, Terminator 2, Rambo: First Blood II, Titanic and my personal favourite, Aliens) and his latest movie, Avatar.
both the film and the game for the film look absolutely excellent, which has to be a first.

I really don't understand all the hype for this film. >.> Is it really only expected to be good because of Cameron? I mean, it looks cool, but not like... OMG IT WILL BE SO AWESUM LOL!!!1!1!
I know the way they did the CGI is supposed to be special and all that too, but it still doesn't look real to me, so I don't see how it's THAT much better than other stuff that's been done before. It's still pretty obvious to me what stuff is CGI and what isn't.
I dunno. I don't like to keep my expectations high for movies, because 99% of the time I just end up disappointed. I don't think it will terrible or anything, but I have a hard time believing it will "change the movie industry forever" (as someone in the YouTube comments said).
...Not to mention that it also kind of bothers me that the aliens look a lot like X-Men's Nightcrawler.

i dont really care about the CGI, though people are lauding it as utterly amazing (i dont agree. I still think that Pirates of the Caribbean 2/3 had the best CG)
the story seems good enough from the little you can glimpse, paraplegic implants brain into blue dude, perhaps infiltrate and possibly assimilate into blue dude culture. Humans fight blue dudes, human blue dude might not like that, who knows. It's interesting enough to hold my attention
and yes, certain directors carry certain weight with their name. Quentin Tarantino, Park Chan Wook, Ridley Scott and James Cameron generally can be relied on to atleast make an enjoyable movie if not a fantastic one.

there are people who believe they are Na'vi. What is that? Otherkin? I'm not too sure on the terminology. Eitherway, the otherkin(?) welcomed them, saying, "Hey, you're one of us," but then the Na'vi were all like, "Heck no, we ain't no **censor**! We're Na'vi, accepting, fair people in touch with nature." Then the furries facepalmed.
It's all better now though.
